• Best way to deploy VB.NET Code / create an assembly on a SQLServer

  I've created some functions / procedures with VB.NET and want to deploy them to a SQLServer. Within Visual Studio you can click right and select "deploy". An assembly will be created on the server and a lot of functions and procedures. It's really easy. Now I want to script the whole deployment process. What is Visual Studio doing when I make a deployment? Can Visual Studio autoscript all the deployment steps for me? Can I save it to a file and execute it manually?

My code is able to retrieve the images successfully but with a fixed size of 63KB. if the image is greater than that size, it just brings the first 63KB from the image! • Drupal join on taxonomy terms

  I have a Drupal setup like this: Content type: Apartments Vocabulary: Areas, that can be used with Apartments. Content type: User profile, with a Content Taxonomy Field for Areas so users can select what areas they are interested in. I would like a view that shows all the user profiles that matches the apartments in their area. A "User profile <- Areas <- Apartments" join in other words. I've been mucking around with the views interface for a while but it's not clear to me how the relations can be setup to achieve this. Can someone give me a hint? In case this cannot be easily solved with views, what is a good way of doing it otherwise? Thanks for your help.

• Comparing 2 columns in the same table with the "Like" function

  I'm trying to come up with a way to query the values in two different columns in the same table where the result set will indicate instances where the value of columnB doesn't contain the value of columnA. For example, my "Nodes" table contains columns "NodeName" and "DNS". The values should look similar to the following: NodeName DNS Router1 Router1.mydomain.com I want to run a query to show which rows have a DNS value that does not contain (or begin with) the value of the NodeName field. I think the query should function something similar to the following, but obviously I'm missing something with regard to the use of "Like" in this situation. SELECT NodeName, DNS WHERE DNS NOT LIKE 'NodeName%' I'm using SQL Server 2005, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... :)

• Does Resharper 4.1 support both Camel Humps and normal selection modes?

  I've found the setting for Camel Humps in resharper: Resharper - Options - Editor - Use CamelHumps The problem is that I would still like to be able to use the normal selection mode (i.e. the default behaviour for CTRL+Arrow and CTRL+SHIFT+Arrow) as well as the CamelHumps mode. For example consider this variable: private int MyVeryLongCamelCaseName; Now if I want to copy the entire variable then I want the VS default behaviour for CTRL+SHIFT+Left-Arrow which is to select the entire variable if the cursor is on the M. However if I want to change the name to say MyExtremelyLongCamelCaseName then I would like the CamelHumps behaviour provided by Resharper. Is there any way to have both behaviours with different shortcuts?

• Getting Paperclip to work in Rails

  Using SQL server 2008. I have a family tree of animals stored in a table, and want to give some information on how 'genetically diverse' (or not) the offspring is. In SQL how can I produce sensible metrics to show how closely related the parents are? Perhaps some sort of percentage of shared blood, or a number of generations to go back before there is a shared ancestor?   Is there any way I can avoid using array_flip to optimize performance. I am doing a select statement from database, preparing the query and executing it and storing data as an associative array in $resultCollection and than I have array op and for each element in $resultCollection am storing its outputId in op[] as evident from the code. • Tracking object entries when "playing" a Windows Enhanced Metafile

  One of my current projects requires that I work out what colours are being used in an EMF file. I have been able to successfully whip up a file parser in C# that notes all references to colours... but haven't had any luck tracking which objects are in use across the entire file so I can apart colours that are referenced from colours that are used to paint on screen. The older style WMF files are easy as the object library starts at zero and one can simply track each "Create Object" style command... but EMF files are proving to be trickier as there seems to be preexisting entries in the library (if the "Select Object" commands I'm seeing are to be believed). Would anyone be able to either enlighten me on how to track objects in the library correctly with EMF files... or suggest an easier alternative to work out which colours are actually being used in the file (as opposed to just being defined)?

I have triple tested that all 4 values in bindParam are set, and that the sql query works when pasted into myAdmin with the respective values. Any idea what may be causing this?

  Hi All, I have seen lot of reviews and have not been able to figure out how I can solve my problem.. Problem: Currently we have a page to upload the file from local machine to the respositry. It is currently using Struts upload. Now the current requirment is, Since users upload around 1gb of file, they are made to wait for a long time.. So they changed the requirment to browse the file and select the file to upload and hitting upload button should return to the control to next screen imediately.. But the upload process some how needs to be pushed at the backend and should do the upload and send out an email once the upload is complete.. I'm not able to figure out how to transfer the control to next page, when the upload is still running ... any idea or help will be appreicated.. Regards, Senny

However, randomly my project will throw the exception: Input array is longer than the number of columns in this table I'm having a hard time trying the trace the problem because it seems to be thrown on a random basis.   Hi I wanted a function to find the greatest of a list of String values passed in. I want to invoke it as Select greatest('Abcd','Efgh','Zxy','EAD') from sql server. It should return Zxy. The number of parameters is variable.Incidentally it is very similar to oracle GREATEST function. So I wrote a very simple CLR function (Vs2008) and tried to deploy it. See below public partial class UserDefinedFunctions { [Microsoft.SqlServer.Server.SqlFunction] public static SqlString Greatest(params SqlString[] p) { SqlString max=p[0]; foreach (string s in p) max = s.CompareTo(max) > 0 ? s : max; return max; } }; But when I try to compile or deploy it I get the following error Cannot find data type SqlString[]. Is it possible to satisfy my requirement using SQL CLR ?

• Problem updating a database field from my controller

  I have an update method in my users controller that I call from a HTTPService in Flex 4. • IntelliSense has forgotten my code snippets!

  Hi all I have a stack of code snippets imported into Visual Studio. Just recently, they have stopped displaying in Intellisense. If the keyboard shortcut doesn't bring up anything else on IntelliSense, then I can tab and the code snippet is inserted just fine. However, if the keyboard shortcut for the snippet happens to also bring up other items in IntelliSense, tabbing will select the first of those items, so I actually can't use the code snippet at all! Does anyone have any ideas why IntelliSense would be unable to list my code snippet shortcuts? I started using ReSharper recently, but that wouldn't be the problem surely?! This will be in a template and I would like to pass part of the xpath as a parameter. <xsl:variable name="TEST_VAR">"h:elementA/elementB"</xsl:variable> ... and then use the variable (or passed in param) as all (or part) of the xpath: <xsl:element name="transformedElement"><xsl:value-of select=$TEST_VAR/></xsl:element> I would really like to have the xpath to be a mixture of string literals and the vlue of TEST_VAR.   I'm doing a basic select against a view. Unfortunately the result can be slow and I'm getting timeout errors intermittently. How can I increase the timeout? Using .NET 3.5, Sql Server 2000, Linq2Entities I'm using the very basic query List<MyData> result = db.MyData.Where(x.Attribute == search).ToList(); Fixing the query so that it's faster on the DB side is not an option here. Exact Error: "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding." Update: I'd prefer to just change it for this one query.

What is the best solution to use so that after the trail period (1 month) the application will no longer work. I was thinking that if they are interested in purchasing the software I will give them a license key or something, to unlock the application.
