• How to remove tearing in videos with Nvidia driver?

  I'm using ubuntu 11.10 as my HTPC OS on ION board. Tearing was always a big problem but this guide (http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/01/how-to-fix-video-tearing-in-videos-nvidia-ubuntu/) used to solve it in previous versions. I mean it used to because it doesn't solve it anymore. I tried making same changes (although compiz config is little different and same options are in different panels) but with no success. I also tried to manually set resolution and refresh rate of HDTV in nvidia settings - no changes at all. I know that open source drivers would solve a problem but it's not an option because I need VDPAU acceleration. I've also read that completely disabling of Composite solves the problem - can't do that because compizconfig-settings-manager crashes on attempt.   Its been a busy week here in Barcelona, with noticeably more energy at the show than in 2010. This year, we decided to move the Java booth to the App Planet and really engage with the increasing number of developers that are attending the event. Our booth featured 10 demos and a series of nearly 25 workshops featuring a variety of topics ranging from information about Java Verified, to the use of web technologies with Java ME, to sessions hosted by Operators such as Orange and Telefonica (see image to the left).One of the more popular topics in our booth was the use of Java in the Smart Grid. In our booth we were showing off some of the work of the Hydra Consortium whose goal it is to leverage the emerging smart grid infrastructure to securely enable the delivery of personal health data (weight, blood pressure, etc) from the home to your doctor. • Automated architecture validation

  I am aware of the fact that TFS 2010 ultimate edition can create and validate architecture diagrams. For example, I can create a new modeling project add Layer Diagram Add Layer called View Add BL Layer Add DL layer. Then I can validate this architecture as part of the build process when someone tries to check code into TFS. In other words, if the View references the DL then the compilation process will fail and the checkin will not be allowed. For those without an MSDN ultimate license, can FxCop or some 3rd party utility be used to validate architecture in an automated fashion? I prefer a TFS install-able plugin, but a local VS plugin will do.

• How can I revive a dead translation team?

  I wish to translate ubuntu in Marathi language for which a translation team already exists. But the membership of the team is moderated and unfortunately no new member has been admitted in the team after 2010-Dec-12. All request of membership are pending after that date. I tried to contact administrator of the team at his personal email id but did not get any reply from him. As I am not a team member I can not upload my translated po file. Is there any way to take charge of the team and approve all pending request? It seems that no translation work is currently being carried out. I would like to do the work but I can not.

  Thanks to all the nice comments from people who attended my presentation at DDD9, and extra thanks to Jon Skeet, Mark Rendle and Mike Hadlow for coming on stage for the last ten minutes to help debate whether the Async CTP is the correct way to go to enhance C# 5.0. I've also uploaded all the code samples into a single ZIP file. You will need to install the Async CTP to be able to run them, and I would remind everyone that the current Async CTP is not compatible with either ASP.NET MVC 3 RTM or Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 so you may need to use a test system of virtual machine to play with it! • Silverlight Goes Mobile!

  The most exciting announcements from Mix 2010 last week for me were the release of the Windows Phone 7 Series SDK and the news that the platform utilizes Silverlight for the application development technology. From the press and exposure that the platform is being given and the experience that is promised it looks like the Windows Phone 7 Series could eventually compete with the iPhone. For me this is exciting as Silverlight can now be used to develop RIA apps, easily deployed desktop apps and mobile apps. As someone who delivers enterprise technology solutions this equates to a whole bunch of opportunity knocking at the door and asking to join the party.   i just made a 3d game in XNA for windows phone 7. I build it in release mode on visual studio 2010 and suddenly when I run game there is no textures on models - 2 models are black and one is transparent. Models are in .X format exported from 3dsmax and have textures in .jpg also added to game content. I set build action to none and all worked fine in debug mode. When I change to release mode - black textures. When I set build action to compile it gives me warning: Asset was built 2 times with different settings: using TextureImporter and TextureProcessor using TextureImporter and TextureProcessor, referenced by... and still no textures. What can I do?
