  • Changing API level Android Studio

    I want to change the minimum SDK version in Android Studio from API 12 to API 14. I have tried changing it in the manifest file, i.e., <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="14" android:targetSdkVersion="18" /> and rebuilding the project, but I still get the Android Studio IDE throwing up some errors. I presume I have to set the min SDK in 'project properties' or something similar so the IDE recognises the change, but I can't find where this is done in Android Studio. Pointers greatly appreciated. Thnx.

    Apps that allow users to log in over a 3rd party authentication provider (e.g. Facebook, Google, Twoitter,...) should open a browser window to let the user authenticate against the provider. That means, at some point, an app is backgrounded and the user interacts with a browser window. Just before the browser opens, it's a recommended pratctice to inform the user about what will happen (see e.g. Getting Started with OAuth 2.0 - O'Reilly), let's say an alert window with something like "you will leave now the XYZ app and a browser window will open where you can enter your credentials safely". My question: How can that be done if I use the facebook SDK for ios? Looking at the SDK, there seem to be no notifications and no designated states that would allow me to detect that the sdk is about to background my app and about to opening either Safari or the Facebook app.

  • How do I base a style on a Silverlight toolkit theme style

    I've being trying to add a theme from the Silverlight toolkit to a project. In the project there are a number of existing styles used in the layout. The problem is when any control has an explict style applied to it does not receive any attributes of the style from the theme. In WPF I would use something like BasedOn={x:Type TextBox}, but this is not supported in Silverlight. I've considered going through the theme and setting a key for every style and then using BasedOn to create both an implicit style to use with the ImplictStyleManager, as well as another explicit style for use with the existing styled controls. Have you got any better ideas?

    Hello, I am wondering if there's an elegant solution for doing this in Java (besides the obvious one - of declaring a different/explicit function. I don't have an idea about a more elegant solution beside doing another function which explicitly wants a HashMap<String, Integer> or HashMap<Buffer, Integer> parameter.   • Flex SDK missing fundamental things

    All of a sudden Flash Builder 4 is missing all kinds of fundamental things and is generating incorrect errors. I've had the same issue yesterday, where I fixed it by downloading a new Flex SDK and importing that into FB. I did this again, but this time it fixed nothing. I don't think it's something I did, like removing critical references from the build path. The errors also appeared on projects I was not working on at the time. It occurs for ActionScript, Flex and Flex Library projects alike. Update 3: Well, i've singled the problem down to a single piece of code, though a very simple one. I can make a new workspace in FB and things work ok, then screw the workspace up forever by adding this code to a project. All projects will have errors and closing or even removing the faulty project does not change this. Making another new workspace (without the faulty code) makes my projects compile again. It appears to be an SDK problem, not Flash Builder.   • WCF - remote service without using IIS - base address?

    I'm trying to get my head around the addressing of WCF services. We have a client-server setup where the server occasionally (maybe once a day) needs to push data to each client. I want to have a lightweight WCF listener service on each client hosted in an NT service to receive that data. We already have such an NT service setup hosting some local WCF services for other tasks so the overhead of this is minimal. Because of existing legacy code on the server I believe the service needs to be exposed as ASMX and use basicHttpBinding to allow it to connect. Each client is registered on the server by the user (they need to configure them individually) so discovery is not the issue. My question is, how does the addressing work? I imagine the user entering the client's address on the server in the form http://0.0.0.0/MyService or even http://hostname/MyService If so, how do I configure the client service in its App.config? Do I use localhost? If not then what is the reccommended way of exposing the service to the server? Note: I don't want to host in IIS as that adds extra requirements to the hardware required for the client. The clients will be almost certainly located on LANs, not over the public internet

    Okay, so, the idea is that I have a map of "components", which inherit from componentBase, and are keyed on an ID unique to the most-derived*. Only, I can't think of a good way to get this to work. I tried it with the constructor, but that doesn't work (Maybe I did it wrong). The problem with any virtual, etc, inheritance tricks are that the user has to impliment them at the bottom, which can be forgotten and makes it less... clean. *Right phrase?     Hello, I'm building form validation controls for our C# ASP application. The bulk of the work is handled by a BaseValidator control (subclassing System.Web.UI.UserControl), which also has the markup for the validation output. This is then extended by subcontrols like PasswordValidator, that provides the Validate method and any extra fields needed by that validator control. (The end goal is to have controls like <uc1:PasswordValidator ControlId="txtPassword" /> which we can plop into any form with minimum duplication.) However, PasswordValidator.ascx.cs cannot access the form elements defined in BaseValidator.ascx; the only way I've found to do so is to duplicate the markup in each subcontrol's *.ascx file. How can I extend BaseValidator.ascx.cs and access BaseValidator.ascx's markup in the subclass?
