• Redirect and parse in realtime stdout of an long running process in vb.net

  Hello there, This code executes "handbrakecli" (a command line application) and places the output into a string: Dim p As Process = New Process p.StartInfo.FileName = "handbrakecli" p.StartInfo.Arguments = "-i [source] -o [destination]" p.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = False p.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = True p.Start Dim output As String = p.StandardOutput.ReadToEnd p.WaitForExit The problem is that this can take up to 20 minutes to complete during which nothing will be reported back to the user. Once it's completed, they'll see all the output from the application which includes progress details. Not very useful. Therefore I'm trying to find a sample that shows the best way to: Start an external application (hidden) Monitor its output periodically as it displays information about it's progress (so I can extract this and present a nice percentage bar to the user) Determine when the external application has finished (so I can't continue with my own applications execution) Kill the external application if necessary and detect when this has happened (so that if the user hits "cancel", I get take the appropriate steps) Does anyone have any recommended code snippets?

• Does <httpRedirect> in web.config work in a mono setup? Or is it IIS7 specific?

  We had some content restructure recently and I'd like to put in some redirect rules into web.config so bookmarks to the old pages can get routed to their new locations/pages. I tried using this approach: <location path="~/product/productA.aspx"> <system.webServer> <httpRedirect enabled="true" destination="~/product/category/productA.aspx" exactDestination="false" childOnly="true" httpResponseStatus="Permanent" /> </system.webServer> </location> But all I'm getting when I go to "http://www.oursite.com/product/productA.aspx" is our http 404 page. Am I doing something wrong, or is the httpRedirect tag in web.config not supported in mono? worked, but not ideal for what we want to achieve. Thank you :)

• Convert svn repository to hg - authentication fails

  I'm trying to convert an existing svn repository to a mercurial repo with the following command hg convert <repository> <folder> My problem is that the svn repository's authentication is done with p12 certificates. I'm a bit lost on how to configure the certificate for the hg client so that I can pull the svn repo and convert it. Currently, if I try to run the above command, I get initializing destination hg-client repository abort: error: _ssl.c:480: error:14094410:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:sslv3 alert handshake failure In other words, it cannot find the required certificate. The question is, how do I configure my hg client so that it can use my certificate? I'm using the command line hg client on linux.

• Graceful handling of server timeout in BlazeDS

  I have a flex client that makes service calls to a tomcat server running BlazeDS. I would like to gracefully handle server session timeouts in this environment. I do have security constraints on the service, so the client authenticates against a remote object by initializing a ChannelSet based on the destination, and then logging in using that ChannelSet. After the user is authenticated, if they go get a (long) cup of coffee, their session will inevitably time out. I would like the client to detect the timeout, and return the user back to the login page, with the appropriate informational messages. But I am having difficulty finding the best way to detect this timeout from the client. Is it possible, or must I have the server throw an error when the timeout occurs? Thanks!

  I have a folder with a bunch of log files. Each set of log files is in a folder detailing the time and date that the program was run. Inside these log folders, I've got some video files that I want to extract. All I want is the video files, nothing else. I tried using this command to only copy the video files, but it didn't work because a directory didn't exist. .rmv is the file extension of the files I want. $ find . -regex ".*.rmv" -type f -exec cp '{}' /copy/to/here/'{}' If I have a folder structure such as: |- root | |--- folder1 | |----- file.rmv | |--- folder2 | |----- file2.rmv How can I get it to copy to copy/to/here with it copying the structure of folder1 and folder2 in the destination directory?

  I need an algorithm to find the best solution of a path finding problem. The problem can be stated as: At the starting point I can proceed along multiple different paths. At each step there are another multiple possible choices where to proceed. There are two operations possible at each step: A boundary condition that determine if a path is acceptable or not. A condition that determine if the path has reached the final destination and can be selected as the best one. At each step a number of paths can be eliminated, letting only the "good" paths to grow. I hope this sufficiently describes my problem, and also a possible brute force solution. My question is: is the brute force is the best/only solution to the problem, and I need some hint also about the best coding structure of the algorithm.

QuadCurve2D class do exactly what i want but it is not AWT not swt ...and i tried to use java2d under swt but it was very slow .... any solutions ?

• JMS have javax.jms.InvalidDestinationException when client stop working

  I use JMS for sending requests from a client to a server. My client sends a request to the server. While the server is working with my request, my client stops (network problem) before the server finishes. When the server is finished, it'll return to the client, but the server can't see the client which sent the request to server, at which point, the server will return an exception in log file. The exception is : javax.jms.InvalidDestinationException: Cannot publish to a deleted Destination: temp-queue://ID:PC0092-49463-1344231871819-0:0:9 [^] My question is: what do I need to do in this case? Can I catch or disable this exception? And how can I do it? (Sorry, If my english is not good.)

  Can anyone give me a quick rundown of the color syntax meanings in xcode? I am running into some problems and understanding the color coding I am sure will help me out. Currently I have some variables that are light blue and I think they need to be black but I am not sure of the difference? masterViewController=[[UINavigationController alloc] initWithDestination: destination]; I believe my masterViewController here should be colored black and not the light blue it is currently colored - I am assuming I defined or initialized something wrong somewhere. First day in xCode so I am pretty damn confused!

• Why packets injected with libpcap are duplicated?

  I'm using sharppcap in order to send packets as part of a monitoring system. Usually it works well but I've encountered the strangest bug on a hosted vista machine and I would like your help. On that virtual vista machine, injected packets are duplicated. That is, if I send a ping request using libpcap, it somehow gets duplicated and I get two requests on the destination machine. The two requests are almost identical byte-wise, and the only difference between them is that the second packet's TTL field is one minus the original packet's value. Using wireshark I can see the packet gets duplicated before it (and its clone) leave the vista machine. The problem is manifested even when using other tools for injecting packets using libpcap (namely PlayCap). Any ideas?

The only thing it does is receives incoming calls and executes a Perl script. No outgoing calls, no incoming calls to an actual phone, no phones registered with Asterisk. It seems like there should be an easy way to block all unauthorized registration attempts, but I have struggled with this for a long time. It seems like there should be a more effective way to prevent these attempts from even getting far enough to reach my Asterisk logs. Some setting I could turn on/off that doesn't allow registration attempts at all or something. Is there any way to do this? Also, am I correct in assuming that the "Registration from ..." messages are likely people attempting to get access to my Asterisk server (probably to make calls on my account)? And what's the difference between those messages and the "Sending fake auth rejection ..." messages? Further detail: I know that the "Registration from ..." lines are intruders attempting to get access to my Asterisk server. With Fail2Ban set up, these IPs are banned after 5 attempts (for some reason, one got 6 attempts, but w/e). But I have no idea what the "Sending fake auth rejection ..." messages mean or how to stop these potential intrusion attempts. As far as I can tell, they have never been successful (haven't seen any weird charges on my bills or anything). Here's what I have done: Set up hardware firewall rules as shown below.   I'm trying to create a form using Cakephp's FormHelper class. The form needs to have a name and and an id. I fail to see an option for that however. Looking at the documentation for the Formhelper, I see a lot of things, but not a way to set name and option. It's not in the source for the Formhelper either. How are these values set? Cakephp v1.2 is the version of cake i'm running here EDIT: the form is being submitted to an external destination. It is not a form associated with any model in the app.

• Can a Linksys Router be the cause of bad speeds on a 1.5 mbps link.

  We use a Linksys 5-port router at a smal organization with about 20 employees. We recently acquired a 1.5 mbps fibre link, but sometimes the link goes down and speeds are still low. On enquirey from the ISP, this was part of the response, However there maybe throttling due to the router in place. A Linksys is a low end router and may be unable to carried traffic of up to 1536Kbps. We are in a position to deploy a Cisco 871 router on test for 2 wks to eliminate that possibility. Also kindly advise the destination of the ping results they look to high. How true is that about the router throttling the network and need for a bigger one.

• What do the square brackets in LaTeX logs mean?

  I'm currently working on a parser that reads complete LaTeX logs. Most of the log format is, though weird, easy to figure out, but these square brackets are puzzling me. Here's an example from near the end of one of my logs: Overfull \hbox (10.88788pt too wide) in paragraph at lines 40--40 []$[]$ [] [102]) [103] Kapitel 14. (./Thermo-141-GrenzenFundamentalpostulat.tex [104 ]) (./Thermo-142-Mastergleichung.tex [105]) (./Thermo-143-HTheorem.tex [106pdfTeX warning (ext4): destination with the same identifier (name{equation.14.3.3}) ha s been already used, duplicate ignored Can anybody give me a hint what these square brackets mean? I can't see any structure in them. I have the suspicion that lines 2/3 above are some kind of ASCII art representing the box layout, though I know too less about badboxes to justify this or identify the meaning of the single characters. Then, the "[104" etc. seem to correspond to the page numbers, but I am still not seeing the reason why there is sometimes something inbetween the square brackets (like the pdfTeX warning above), and sometimes not.

• Constraining window position to desktop working area

  I want to allow a user to drag my Win32 window around only inside the working area of the desktop. In other words, they shouldn't be able to have any part of the window extend outside the monitor(s) nor should the window overlap the taskbar. I'd like to do it in a way that does cause any stuttering. Handling WM_MOVE messages and calling MoveWindow() to reposition the window if it goes off works, but I don't like the flickering effect that's caused by MoveWindow(). I also tried handling WM_MOVING which prevents the need to call MoveWindow() by altering the destination rectangle before the move actually happens. This resolves the flickering problem, but another issue I run into is that the cursor some times gets aways from the window when a drag occurs allowing the user to drag the window around while the cursor is not even inside the window. How do I constrain my window without running into these issues?

• Firefox extension dev: observing preferences, avoid multiple notifications

  Let's say my Firefox extension has multiple preferences, but some of them are grouped, like check interval, fail retry interval, destination url. Those are used in just single function. When I subscribe to preference service and add observer, the observe callback will be called for each changed preference, so if by chance user changed all of the settings in group, then I will have to do the same routine for the same subsystem as many times as I have items in that preferences group. It's a great redundancy! What I want is observe to be called just once for group of preferences. Say extensions.myextension.interval1 extensions.myextension.site extensions.myextension.retry so if one or all of those preferences are changed, I receive only 1 notification about it. In other words, no matter how many preferences changed in branch, I want the observe callback to called once.

• Issues using ivy

  Hi, I am new bie to ivy. I am using packager resolver and that packager resolver resolves the zip file, unzip it, extracts the jar file from it in temp build file, but it stays temporarily and only the jar file which i specified as a module name gets copied to destination rest of all are ignored. Is there a way i can get all the jar files? I use preseverBuildDirectories but is there a better way to do it? Also is it possible for me to publish an artifact to svn using normal ivy? I got error while i was trying to use ivy 2.1.0 on XP using ant 1.8.0 java.illegalArguementException saying authorization failed. Is there a way i can work through ivy:publish? • BULK INSERT with inconsitant number of columns

  I am trying to load a large amount data in SQL server from a flat file using BULK INSERT. However, my file has varying number of column, for instance the first row contains 14 and the second contains 4. That is OK, I just want to make a table with the max number of columns and load the file into it with nulls for the missing columns. I can play with it from that point. But it seems that SQL Server when reaching the end of the line and having more columns to fill for that same row in the destination table, just moves on to the next line and attempts to put the data on that line to the wrong column of the table. Is there a way to get the behavior that I am looking for? Is there a table hint that I can use the specify this? Has anyone run into this before? • Firefox extension dev: observing preferences, avoid multiple notifications

  Let's say my Firefox extension has multiple preferences, but some of them are grouped, like check interval, fail retry interval, destination url. Those are used in just single function. When I subscribe to preference service and add observer, the observe callback will be called for each changed preference, so if by chance user changed all of the settings in group, then I will have to do the same routine for the same subsystem as many times as I have items in that preferences group. It's a great redundancy! What I want is observe to be called just once for group of preferences. Say extensions.myextension.interval1 extensions.myextension.site extensions.myextension.retry so if one or all of those preferences are changed, I receive only 1 notification about it. In other words, no matter how many preferences changed in branch, I want the observe callback to called once.

• Sending BCC emails using a SMTP server?

  I've had this noted down on some of my code for a while: /** * Add a BCC. * * Note that according to the conventions of the SMTP protocol all * addresses, including BCC addresses, are included in every email as it * is sent over the Internet. The BCC addresses are stripped off blind * copy email only at the destination email server. * * @param string $email * @param string $name * @return object Email */ I don't remember where I got it from but that shouldn't be relevant to this question. Basically, whenever I try to send an email with BCCs via SMTP the BCC addresses are not hidden - I've read the whole RFC for the SMTP protocol (a couple years ago) and I don't think I'm missing anything. The strange thing is, if I send an email with BCCs using the built-in mail() function everything works just right and I've no idea why - I would like to roll my own email sender but I fail to understand this. Can someone please shed some light into this dark subject?
