• Developing a sector based partition copying program?

  Hi, I want to develop a program that copies a partition's 'data' only, to another partition. And I want to do it such that the program starts from the first sector of source partition and checks if a sector is used. If it is used copy it to the destination parition. Else don't copy. In other words it's like copying only the contents of a partition to another, sector-by-sector. Question: Is there a way to check if a particular sector on harddisk is used or not? The programming language I am using is C++ and the underlying filesystem in NTFS. Thanks a lot.

• How to permanently leave a CALayer rotated at its final location?

  Hello, I am trying to rotate a CALayer to a specific angle however, once the animation is done, the layer jumps back to its original position. How would I rotate the layer properly so that it stays at its final destination?   I have a table that looks like this: person trip_id date home destination joe 1 3/10 chicago new york joe 2 4/10 chicago l.a. joe 3 5/10 chicago boston luther 4 3/12 new york chicago luther 5 3/18 new york boston I want to get a result like person trips firstDate home joe 3 3/10 chicago luther 2 3/12 new york Currently I've got Select person, count(trip_id) as trips, min(date) as firstDate from [table] group by person order by firstDate I can't figure out how to get home in there as well. Home is always unique to the person. But my DBMS doesn't know that. Is there an easy way around this problem? Appreciate it.

  Hi, I am running a C# application, and during run-time I get the following error: The CLR has been unable to transition from COM context 0x20e480 to COM context 0x20e5f0 for 60 seconds. The thread that owns the destination context/apartment is most likely either doing a non pumping wait or processing a very long running operation without pumping Windows messages. This situation generally has a negative performance impact and may even lead to the application becoming non responsive or memory usage accumulating continually over time. To avoid this problem, all single threaded apartment (STA) threads should use pumping wait primitives (such as CoWaitForMultipleHandles) and routinely pump messages during long running operations. Can anyone please help me out with the problem here? Thanks a lot.

  My program is written in C++, using GCC on Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit. If depends on /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6 which actually points to /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6.0.13. Now I copy this program to virgin Ubuntu 7.04 system and try to run it. It doesn't run, as expected. Then I add to the program directory the following files: libstdc++.so.6.0.13 libstdc++.so.6 (links to libstdc++.so.6.0.13) and execute command: LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./myprogram Now everything is OK. The question: how can I write installation script for such program? myprogram file itself should be placed to /usr/local/bin. What can I do with dependencies? For example, on destination computer, /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6 link points to /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6.0.8. What can I do with this? Note: the program is closed-source, I cannot provide source code and makefile.

  I am looking to create an incoming email daemon switchboard that I can integrate with various remote php/mysql apps. Ideally I want to check the 'to' address to see if it is in a mysql database and if it is, have the email parsed and posted via CURL to a target destination as well as have attachments saved somewhere locally. I will likely set up a rackspace cloud server dedicated to this task (just accepting emails and posting to 3rd party APIs). However, I do not know where to start. Which server platform / distribution should I go with? Which software needs to be customized, etc?

  I am building a taxi dispatching app first: I need the passenger app to show the nearest taxis, now I know how to do that in code but in my way I have to go through all the taxis locations(in database on server) and calculate the distance from the passenger location and get the lowest ones - I don't want to do this because there will be a lot of taxis and going through all of them and making some math is kind of pain on the server- is there a way to get the nearest ones without going through all of them? second: what the best database to use - first, should it be sql or non-sql - I need a very robust database, because there will be a lot of updates (I mean the passengers locations added then deleted when arriving to destination && the taxis location changes frequently) finally: I will use RubyOnRails to do the server side and json as data transfer format, do you have a recommendation to me on something better?   Did you use teamviewer? (comic question i know... Who doesn't use it?) Do you have any idea how does teamviewer make connection even if i am behind the router, firewall, switch and my local firewall..? I'm trying to imagine a connection that is between remote machinge and my computer. Remote machine is sending the packets (and its header (for instance, destination IP, message body)) to me but it only knows my id number(which is given by my local teamviewer application). And this packets are reaching to my computer even if there is a juniper firewall (and also my windows firewall). What kind a message body is recieving by computer? (of course it is not like xml, text, html, excel :) Do you have any idea? PS. Please share your knowledge like you are explaining to beginner level user.

• How can I programmatically copy all of the style attributes from one DOM element to another

  I have a page with two frames, and I need to (via javascript) copy an element and all of its nested elements (it's a ul/li tree) and most importantly it's style from one frame to the other. I get all the content via assigning innerhtml, and I am able to position the new element in the second frame with dest.style.left and dest.style.top and it works. But I'm trying to get all the style information and nothing's happening. I'm using getComputedStyle to get the final style for each source element as I loop through each node then and assigning them to the same position in the destination nodelist and nothing happens to visually change the style. What am I missing?

  I have an application that submits bugs for multiple customers to multiple destinations. I would like this application to include salesforce as a destination. I have web reference to the Enterprise WSDL and I am able to create cases for salesforce. This works great until I want to include user defined custom fields as part of the case. The custom fields are strongly typed with a __c prefix for my instance of salseforce. But I will not have the liberty of updating my web service with my customers instance of salesforce. How can I submit a salesforce case with custom fields that are not defined in the WSDL? Should I not be using the Enterprise WSDL?

  I'm currently taking the MS SQL 2K5 Admin course at a local college and ran into a problem with the Log Shipping part. My setup is the following: Windows 7 x64 SQL 2005 SP3 2 SQL server instances on the same machine Log Shipping settings: Performed full then log back up of Primary Manually restore on Secondary in STANDBY MODE Insert a new record into the table Set up Log Shipping on Primary using SQL Authenication login to connect to the Secondary Set up timers and copy destination on Secondary Monitoring instance not being used I set up a shared folder for WORKGROUP so both instances on the machine can read & write to it. I can see transaction logs generated and copied as defined by the Transaction Shipping wizard. However, the specified table on the Secondary instance is not updating.

Design a normalized database for a bus ticketing system (not reservation system). In each trip, the conductor of the bus will give tickets to its passengers after collecting fare from them. Passengers travel from a various source places to various destination places. The system must be able to give a report of the places for which the number of passengers was more than 2. Suppose the stops for the bus are L1,L2, L3 and L4 Suppose passenger P1 travels from L1 to L4. P2 travels from L2 to L4. P3 travels from L3 to L4. The report should list only (L3-L4) for which it has more than 2 travelers. Can you please help me to solve the following problems 1) Design a normalized database 2) Write a query for the report 3) Is there any site that gives these kinds of interesting database design questions and answers?   what i need is i have linked my project with the cruise control, so when ever a build happens i want to copy the bin folder to a seperate destination folder with version number. That is when the project build happens for the second time i dont want to replace the bin folder of the first build i want to save this with another version number. How can i do that.   Hi, I have tomcat running on 8080 on a ubuntu lucid server. I am able to access it fro local machine. However I am unable to access the tomcat from any machine outside. Is it due to firewall restrictions. WHat do I need to do to enable accessing tomcat from remote machines. • c# Create a unique name with a GUID

  I am creating a back up solution. I doubt there is anything new in what I'm trying to achieve. Before copying the file I want to take a backup of the destination file in case anything becomes corrupt. This means renaming the file. I have to be careful when renaming in case the file already exists and adding a 01 to the end is not safe. My question is, based upon not finding the answer else where, would adding a GUID to the file name work. So, if my file was called file01.txt, renaming the file to file01.txtGUID (where GUID is the generated GUID), I could then perform my back up of that file (at this instance having 2 back ups) and then, after ensuring the file has copied (by comparing length of file to the source), delete the file with the GUID in the name. I know the GUID is not 100% guaranteed to be unique but would this suffice?

• Cannot add an icon to Resources

  Have been inputting and testing some sample code and everything seems to be ok. Just that suddenly I am running into this very frustrating problem of trying to add an icon to the project. Have downloaded an icon file (extension : icns) to my desktop and dragged it to the "Resources" group in xCode. Then a dialogue comes up from xCode where I checked the 2 options : "Copy items into destination group's folder (if needed)" and "Recursively create groups for any added folders". But when I press the "Add" button, an "Alert" message box would come up. It says "Could not copy the icon to ...". Hope that someone knowledgable in this area would give me some hints...

  Let's say my Firefox extension has multiple preferences, but some of them are grouped, like check interval, fail retry interval, destination url. Those are used in just single function. When I subscribe to preference service and add observer, the observe callback will be called for each changed preference, so if by chance user changed all of the settings in group, then I will have to do the same routine for the same subsystem as many times as I have items in that preferences group. What I want is observe to be called just once for group of preferences. Say extensions.myextension.interval1 extensions.myextension.site extensions.myextension.retry so if one or all of those preferences are changed, I receive only 1 notification about it.

  I am trying to load all the .png files from an internal application folder into a list control and I am stuck on exactly how to do it. I have tried httpservice to get the folder and count how many images there are so I can loop through them but I just cant figure that out. File structure -src -(default package) -my application files -icons -all my .png files httpService i tried: <s:HTTPService id="loadAllImages" destination="/icons" result="gotImages(event)" fault="loadAllImagesFault(event)"/> This always results in directory not found. Am I going about this completely wrong? Anyone have a suggestion?

  I am designing an image decoder and as a first step I tried to just copy the using c. i.e open the file, and write its contents to a new file. Below is the code that I used. while((c=getc(fp))!=EOF) fprintf(fp1,"%c",c); where fp is the source file and fp1 is the destination file. The program executes without any error, but the image file(".bmp") is not properly copied. I have observed that the size of the copied file is less and only 20% of the image is visible, all else is black. When I tried with simple text files, the copy was complete. Do you know what the problem is?
