• Can't find AVD or SDK manager in Eclipse

  Seems like I'm having some problems after updating my android sdk tools and platform-tools using the sdk manager. The problem is that, after updating, I found that the avd or sdk options in the windows dropdown menu in eclipse are gone! And, I can't find any option to create an android project from file-new projects any more. I tried removing the ADT from eclipse and the software site "https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/" from "available software sites" and then reinstalled the ADT from "https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/" using help-install new software. The installation was successful, but I still don't have any option for shortcuts to the SDK manager or the AVD in eclipse, and neither can I create a new android project. By the way, the android perspectives are not gone, they are still here. Also, I can manually open the avd and sdk manager from the directory where I have installed them. Can anyone please show me a workaround? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• iPhone SDK: My server doesn't support range header requests, does that mean it's impossible for me t

  I am currently developing an iPhone app, in which involves downloads of up to 300 mb. I have been told by my hosting service that my server does not support range header requests. However, when I download a file from my server using a download client, like safari download manager, resume options are available and work. Does this mean that they have a work around for servers that don't support range header requests and that I could possibly implement into my iPhone app? Or are they using a technique too complex to implement into the iPhone. If you know of a technique code samples will be greatly appreciated.

  One client project will be online two months later. One of the requirements changed is to support large files (10 to 15MB per RAW camera file, expected 1000 to 5000 files download per day) download worldwide for their customers. The process will be: there is upload screen via paperclip to the rails local public folder a hourly task to upload to web storage (S3?) update the download url from paperclip url to the web url Questions: is there a gem/plug-in for this purpose? if no, any gem/plug-in for S3 to recommend? Questions about the storage provider: is S3 recommended? or other service to recommend? The baseline is: the client's web server does not and will not have the bandwidth to handle the downloads.   As per the latest update of Kindle V2.5, it has support of "continue downloading books while the app is in the background on iOS 4 devices". How is it possible to download content in background? As per the iOS multitasking documentation, only audio, voip & location updates are possible in background. And I've also maken sure that NSURLConnection doesn't download new data work while app goes background. Then how's it possible with Kindle app? Edit: I haven't checked Kindle App in iOS4 multitasking enabled device. So if anyone let me (& community) know what exactly Kindle app does to download, that would be very much helpful.

• IIS 8 - PHP Manager - Enabling php_oci8.dll for Oracle Connection

  I would need to connect to Oracle DB in my PHP codes. I'm using Windows Server 2012, IIS 8 with PHP Manager. I opened IIS PHP Manager, then go to PHP Extensions, then I enabled "php_oci8.dll" extension. However when I tried to connect to Oracle DB I'm getting the following PHP error: PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function oci_connect() I just restarted the IIS using the IIS Manager, but didn't done computer reboot. Do I need to reboot? Do I also need to download "instantclient-basic-windows.x64-12.1.0.1.0.zip"? If yes, do I just need to set it to classpath "Path" where I extracted? • Can I prevent a user from using windows task manager to end a process?

  I have a c# 4.0 application that I hear grumblings and rumors about problems with. Now, this application has a global unhandled exception handler that reports back to me with errors. I also know that it works because SOME people fill it in, and submit it. It seems though; that a large number of people do NOT fill it in, but instead, use the Windows Taskmanager to end the process. Is it possible to prevent a user from using the Windows Taskmanager to end a specific process? My goal would be that if the application crashes, the form that the user is presented with prevents the process from being ended. I'll also accept steps that would prevent the Windows Taskmanager from being launched. I know I have seen some processes come up with an "Access Denied" prompt when I try to kill it in TaskManager, however I suspect that the windows team has made this very difficult, if not impossible to achieve.

• IE cannot download file with unicode pathname

  I have a web-app that allows users to upload and download image files by pressing buttons on a web page. A user of this page is reporting that IE 7 and 8 fail to download files when the files have Unicode pathnames. IE prompts the user with a dialog stating: "Internet explorer cannot download (file) at (webserver).". Unfortunately I have not been able to reproduce the problem using these versions on my machine. My question is, what could cause this, and how can I prevent it from happening? I have read about problems with cache control (I currently have it set to no-cache); however, I am not using HTTP-S, and the problem only occurs with file-names containing Unicode characters.

• Spikes of 99% disk activity in Windows 8 Task Manager

  For some reason Windows 8's Task Manager reports spikes of 99% disk activity for hours at a time. Looking at the entries in that column, however, data doesn't seem to be getting written any more quickly than when the disk activity is around 25-50% (which it seem to idle at most of the time). Furthermore, when these 99% disk activity spikes are happening, the average response time reported in the Performance tab becomes 4000-6000ms. Is there a good way to find out what is causing the disk activity? I've tried using Process Explorer, but I said above, the rate at which data is reportedly being written doesn't seem to correspond (Dropbox and Google Chrome are constantly the top two, but the spikes are not dependent on their being open). Thanks in advance for any help. It gets very annoying when the computer stutters to a halt.

  I'm having problems with my ASP.NET web forms system. It worked on our test server but now we are putting it live one of the servers is within a DMZ and the SQL server is outside of that (on our network still though - although a different subnet) I have open up the firewall completely between these two boxes to see if that was the issue and it still gives the error message "Communication with the underlying transaction manager has failed" whenever we try and use the "TransactionScope". We can access the data for retrieval it's just transactions that break it. We have also used msdtc ping to test the connection and with the amendments on the firewall that pings successfully, but the same error occurs! How do i resolve this error? Any help would be great as we have a system to go live today. Panic :)

  Tomcat beginner question that I hope will help many. Could someone explain how TomCat hot deploy is supposed to work. We have a currently deployed 'TomCatTest', and we want to fix a small bug in 'TomCatTest' with no downtime for users. We are using the Tomcat Manager console, and just trying to upload a file there.   Hi all, I am confused ... is Songbird releasing a client for the n900? This page has been up for a few months. I've been eagerly awaiting a download, but cannot find the link: http://getsongbird.com/gadgets/ Does anyone have any ideas here? The media player with the n900 works well, but it doesn't connect to last.fm. It isn't a deal breaker, but it would be a nice to have.   I installed IIS 7.5 (Windows 7) on two different PCs, one PC saves configuration to applicationHost.config and the other to web.config! Screenshot: As you can see, the PC on the left does not contain the settings (they are stored in applicationHost.config) and the PC to the right does in fact store the settings in web.config. I have not and hope not to modify the configuration files by hand and would like to do it using IIS Manager only. Does anyone know why this happens or if there is some setting to force configuration to the web.config file? Thank you.   I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1 machine that I log into and use to manage virtual machines running on multiple Hyper-V servers on our domain. • Automatically save/download e-mail body to disk

  Is there a program that will allow me to connect to my mail server (IMAP) and automatically save certain new e-mails to disk? Multiple times a day I receive automated e-mail updates about pending jobs from a system that processes some information for us. The data in these e-mails is written as plain-text within the body of the message. I would like to download the newest message, parse it, and display it on my desktop. The last two parts I can manage ok - it's just the automatic downloading that is posing a challenge. I don't use Outlook (I do use Thunderbird), but would prefer not to have the client open to make this happen. I'm currently running Win7.

• Downloads on Vista Home Premium start off fast but slow down to 0 Kb/s and hang

  I have Windows Vista Home Premium on my computer and everytime I go to download something, it starts out at about 1.5 Mb/s and stays there for about 3 seconds, then it slows down to 800 Kb/s and continues to drop until it gets down to 0 Kb/s and hangs. I've tried just about everything I can find such as uninstalling all firewalls/antivirus, doing the netsh rss,autotune, and chimney disable, and updating everything but it still continues to happen. I'd prefer not to reinstall but if I have to then I have to... EDIT: Figured it out, the router needed a firmware update

• Adobe Volume License for Indesign Digital Download Location?

  We recently purchased a volume license for Adobe Indesign from Dell. We received an e-mail for the order that contains the serial #. However, there is no information on how to obtain Adobe Indesign from the Adobe licensing portal. This is our first time dealing with Adobe volume licensing so I'm a bit lost as to what we're suppose to do. I've googled around a little and found an Adobe License Portal but I do not have access to it. Does anyone with experience concerning Adobe volume licensing have any idea what we're suppose to do to get a download of our purchase?
