  • Can't read directory owned by my group

    I moved the postgres data directory to a separate partition and it works great. The directory is owned by postgres user and postgres group. d-wx------ 11 postgres postgres 4.0K 2010-06-11 08:28 data/ I added myself to the group > sudo addgroup me postgres > groups me me : me adm dialout cdrom plugdev lpadmin admin sambashare postgres And gave the group read and execute permissions to everything in the directory. sudo chmod -R g+rx ./data d-wxr-x--- 11 postgres postgres 4.0K 2010-06-11 08:28 data/ But I still can not CD or LS the directory. > ls data ls: cannot open directory data: Permission denied What beginner mistake am I making?

  • Default groups for user in Ubuntu 12.10?

    Installed HP Linux Imaging and Printing by using install script and something crashed. Now I'm only member of my own group and lp. Which are the default groups for users in Ubuntu 12.10? Same as this? And, out of curiosity, is there some place where this information is logged? As i.e. some log file showing which groups my user was on previous boot? And/or is this information ,(which groups are default), documented somewhere? OK Found answer. Adding when I'm able (haven't got enough points and have to wait hours to answer myself).

  • nagios ldap-group based front end login permission issues

    I want to grant users access to the nagios 3 core frontend by using an active directory group ("NagiosWebfrontend" in the code below). The login works fine like this: AuthType Basic AuthName "Nagios Access" AuthBasicProvider ldap AuthzLDAPAuthoritative on AuthLDAPURL "ldap://ip-address:389/OU=user-ou,DC=domain,DC=tld?sAMAccountName?sub?(objectClass=*)" AuthLDAPBindDN CN=LDAP-USER,OU=some-ou,DC=domain,DC=tld AuthLDAPBindPassword the_pass Require ldap-group CN=NagiosWebfrontend,OU=some-ou,DC=domain,DC=tld Unfortunately, every nagios page just shows "It appears as though you do not have permission to view information for any of the services you requested...". I got the hint, that I am missing a contact in nagios configuration which is equal to my login, but creating one with the same name as the domain user had no effect on this issue. However, it would be great to find a solution without manually editing nagios.conf for every new user, so the admins could grant access to nagios by just putting the user to "NagiosWebfrontend" group. What would be the best way to solve it?

  • How should I group these variables?

    I have a shape that will be defined by: char s_type; char color; double height; double width; These variables are scanned in from a request string sent to my server and passed into my printing function, which then prints out the shape. Currently they are just local variables sitting in my main(); however, I was wondering if there would be any advantage in creating a struct containing these variables, and then passing the struct to my printing function? or how else might I improve my program's structure/style, would passing a struct by reference have any kind of performance benefit if there were many requests and therefore many printing function calls? printer(char st, char cr, double ht, double wd); int main() { // Other main functionality. char s_type; char color; double height; double width; sscanf (serv_req, "GET /%c/%c/%lf/%lf", &s_type, &color, &height, &width); printer(s_type, color, height, width); // Other main functionality. return 0; } It seemed "neater" if I had a struct or something that didn't leave me with declarations in the middle of everything else going on in main. I'm interested in structure/style as well as performance. EDIT: didn't mean to put printer declaration inside main.

  • Using a Group Managed Service Account (gMSA) for a scheduled task

    Back in Windows Server 2008 R2, when stand-alone Managed Service Accounts (sMSA) were new, they could not be used to execute scheduled tasks. In Windows Server 2012 however, there is a new type of account called the Group Managed Service Account (gMSA). This type of account is supposedly capable of launching scheduled tasks in the task scheduler on clients & member servers inside of a Windows Server 2012 forest/domain functional level. So far, I have: Established a Windows Server 2012 forest/domain Created a Group Managed Service Account (gMSA) Installed the gMSA on a Windows Server 2012 member server And currently I'm having trouble with: Setting a scheduled task to use the gMSA When I attempt to use a gMSA on a scheduled task, I get the error message that says "The object cannot be found" (paraphrased) message. My question is: How do I configure a Scheduled Task to execute using a Group Managed Service Account (gMSA)?
