• how to make man page not disappear on exit

  ...probably a silly question but I could not beat google into telling me the answer so posting here: I got 2 machines - Slackware 13 and Fedora 11. On the slack machine, when I use man I can scroll all the way to the bottom then exit man and the info stays in my terminal window (which I find very convenient as I can read it while typing the command in question, copy-paste the options, etc.). On fedora when I close man the man page info is gone. How can I configure man (or is it the terminal?) to not remove the man page info on exit?

  Hey Guys, I'm having some trouble with my Smart Mailbox setup. I've got a Smart Mailbox named "Unread". And Contains messages that match any of the following conditions: Message is Unread Message is not in Mailbox News (AT) lovejungle.com Message is not in Mailbox Info (AT) lovejungle.com For some reasons, it is still displaying messages in either News@ or Info@. I've removed either Not in News@ or Info@ and it still shows messages from each inbox. Any ideas on what's set up wrong? :confused: http://i.imgur.com/IHquL.jpg

• how can I see a page's referrer in Chrome?

  I've read the "answers" on this question, which is pretty much what I'm asking, but no one actually provides an answer. Nowhere in the Developer Tools (that I can see, anyway) is there a clear indicator of the current page's referring page. This is something that's really easy to find in Firefox; just right-click and choose Page Info. Where is this functionality in Chrome? If it's in the developer tools, which tab is it under? If it's not, is there an extension I can use to get this info? I've tried the Web Developer extension, and can't seem to find this very basic piece of info there, either.

• How can I disable logging in Tomcat 7?

  I have a Tomcat 7 server running in a VM that has very little disk space (20G). Over the course of a few days Tomcat will fill the space with logging info (usually about 15G before it runs out). I've tried turning down the log level (from INFO to SEVERE) in the logging.properties file, I've also tried sending the log info to /dev/null. It doesn't seem to work as I still get a full log directory after no time at all. Can I put a file size limit on the log files? Is something overriding the properties I'm setting? Where can I find this information? My Google Fu just returns information about logging from within an application using JULI.

  Please help. Every time I turn on computer I receive a different BSOD. I can't even give my computer info because I haven't been able to stay on it long enough. The following are the BSOD that I just received in the last hour. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BAD_POOL_HEADER MEMORY_MANAGEMENT I has also started with Windows Error Recovey which I have done but that has froze on me or hasn't helped. I have also reset computer to its original state. Now as soon as I turn on it goes to a BSOD almost immediately. I know you need more info about computer, so if you can tell me what info it is you need, I will get it. I can tell you that it is a desktop.

  I have an e-mail address for a domain I own. [email protected] I am redirecting all mail sent to this address over to my main Gmail account automatically. In Gmail, I've added the [email protected] account so I can send and receive mail from it. Problem: The "from" field on all the e-mails this address sends always says "info". I want it to say "Domain.com" so recipients can know where it's coming from. How do I change this? I've looked in gmail but can't seem to spot a setting that controls this.

• puppet agent doesn't retrieve files from master

  I have a very basic question regarding to Puppet 3.0.1 configuration. I setup a puppet master server (CentOS) with 2 agents (CentOS and Windows 7), all 3 can ping and access each other. There is no error at all. I have copied a file under /etc/puppet/files/test2.txt my site.pp (/etc/puppet/manifests) contains these lines: node default { include test file { "/tmp/testmaster.txt": owner => root, group => root, mode => 644, source => "puppet:///files/test2.txt" } } but there will no file be created on agent servers under /tmp/ once I run "puppet agent --test" here is the output: [root@agent1 ~]# puppet agent --test Info: Retrieving plugin Info: Caching catalog for agent1.mydomain.com Info: Applying configuration version '1354267916' Finished catalog run in 0.02 seconds "puppet apply /etc/puppet/manifests/site.pp" creates the testmaster.txt under /tmp/ on master.

  Where is the php.ini file in Ubuntu hardy? The file found in path called /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini.ucf-dist. Do I need to rename file 'php.ini.ucf-dist' to 'php.ini'? Where is the system currently reading the php information when I run info.php file? I tried to compare one item what gets displayed when I run info.php file and when I edit the 'php.ini.ucf-dist' file. The 'memory_limit' shows 128M when I run info.php file but in the 'php.ini.ucf-dist' file it is set to 16M. So this cant be the same file being read by the system currently? Thanks for help.

  Hi everyone Im looking for an app pr line of code that could let me observe a process, save the info in a number of variable and then put the gathered info on a file. Ive been trying with variations of top but no luck. I am running several CentOS virtual servers, VM is 2gb ram 2 processor. Maybe a script that works over a specified amount of time while writing lines with the info on a text file so at the end i can have a sort of table with the data. The thing is Im going to stress test the server and I would like to have the data to make some statistics. Any comments and suggestions are most welcome.

  Question As a general practice, is it a good idea to use multiple TLDs for the name servers? How should I choose between which TLD would be a good candidate for being the root server for my NS name? More Info I am switching over 800 DNS zones to an outsourced DNS provider. I originally planned on setting the zone names to nsX.company.com, but think it would be best to have multiple TLDs such as .net , .org and .info Since I plan on supporting DNSSec at company.com I think all the 1st tier Name servers must support it as well. Part of the inspiration for this question came from our provider UltraDNS.   So I have a info.php page which is located on the folder /var/www/nginx-default, however when I go to my ip address/info.php, it always redirects me to this site: http://www.iana.org/domains/example/ is this because I have a virtual host that I called example? Here is my config for the example website: server { listen 80; server_name www.example.com; rewrite ^/(.*) http://example.com/$1 permanent; } server { listen 80; server_name example.com; access_log /var/www/example.com/logs/access.log; error_log /var/www/example.com/logs/error.log; location / { root /var/www/example.com/public/; index index.html; } } The way I access this site is by changing my /var/hosts in my macbook so that example.com is mapped to my server IP address... however now when I do xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/info.php.. it redirects me to that site I posted above

• Problem using easy_install on Windows 7, 64 bit. (cannot find python.exe)

  Hi, I have just now installed Python 2.6 on my Windows 7 (64 bit) Lenovo t61p laptop. I have downloaded Sphinx and nose and apparently installed them correctly using python setup.py install (at least no errors were reported during the installation). Now I am trying to install pymongo using easy_install but I am not having much success. It seems that easy_install isn't working at all. I execute easy_install as administrator: C:\>easy_install Cannot find Python executable C:\Program Files\Python26\python.exe The path C:\Program Files\Python26\python.exe is correct. I have found this bug report on bugs.python.org which seems to be related, although its status is 'Resolved'. Do you have any ideas as to what may be wrong? Any pointers, hints or tips for diagnosing the problem further would be greatly appreciated. • A ResetBindings on a BindingSource of a Grid also resets ComboBox

  Hi there, I have a DataGridView with a BindingSource of products. This products have an enum (Producer). For the most text fields (to edit the product) below the DataGridView I have a method RefreshProduct which does a ResetBindings in the end to refresh the DataGridView. There is a ComboBox (cboProducer), too. If I run over the _orderBs.ResetBindings(false) it will reset my cboProducer outside the DataGridView, too. Could you please help me to avoid this? The good news is that Visual Studio allows you to completely customize the editor background and text colors to whatever you want – allowing you to tweak them to create the experience that is “just right” for your eyes and personality.  You can then optionally export/import your color scheme preferences to an XML file via the Tools->Import and Export Settings menu command. • Laptop with Intel Graphics: external VGA monitor only gets signal on boot (no "hot plugging")

  I am able to get an external VGA monitor (or projector) to work if I start my laptop with it connected. However, if I start the laptop with it disconnected there is no signal on the external. The Displays screen shows the external, and thinks that it is active, but there is no signal being sent to it. This has been a persistent problem since 10.04 (I am now on 12.04.... each upgrade hoping something is improved). I should note that even when it works (starting with display connected), Displays still says the monitor is "unknown" (but it sends the signal). For the correct resolution to display, I have had to add a few xrandr lines for my monitor to my .xprofile file... otherwise resolution is limited to default 1024x768. So, resolution issues can be worked around, but the main issue is that the external doesn't get a signal without starting the machine with it connected.
