    I'm reading about Google App Engine. I'm creating a bunch of simple dynamic websites in java. I'm considering to use Google App Engine and setup my clients' website on it. In this way I've only to register a domain www.myclietdomain.com and then point that to the GoogleAppEngine application... In this way I plan to avoid hosting costs. Infact I'm paying even for hosting few static html pages... Do you think that is possible to use Google App Engine for this scope?

  • iPhone Docked Playing Through PC, Buzzing.

    Hi. I have an iPhone that I fit into an Apple dock. There is an audio cable from dock into the line in on my sound card. My headphones are plugged into the line out. I get this really quite buzz that is fairly constant, but changes as the iphone "does stuff". It's not so bad when the music is playing. But when it stops I get the buzz, so I can't really use my headphones as "noise cancellation." It doesn't help to change my volume sliders on the PC. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    I've bought many iPhone apps by now, some free and some paid. I've reinstalled my computer, and in the new installation, iTunes is completely blank. On first sync, iTunes downloads the apps that are currently installed on my iPhone. But what about all those apps that I have bought and aren't currently installed? Is there a way to re-download all my apps into iTunes? Where can I see a listing of all the apps I've ever downloaded? (Update: Apparently not all purchased content is restored - some things are inexplicably missing. You won't be charged anew for downloading them again, but you also won't be told what it is that you're missing. See here for details...)

  • iPhone game center can't create sandbox account

    Whenever I try to create an account on the simulator or device, I get a message "game center account services are currently unavailable. Please try again later." Furthermore, I have never been able to sign in to the game center app on the simulator. Interestingly, if I reset my device with iTunes, I can then log in to the Game Center app with my regular apple id. But whenever if I log out, then try to create a sandbox account for an app I am developing, it always fails as described above. Any suggestions?

  • iPhone and Mac Twitter App Not Parsing HTML in Feeds

    I've come across this problem where my tweets on the iPhone and Mac Twitter app are not parsing the HTML properly. In any browser, the HTML is parsed fine. It only happens to the apostrophe character (') and on the iPhone and Mac Twitter app. Also, I'm using the dlvr.it service to push my Drupal blog posts to my Twitter feed. My initial guess was that it was the RSS generated by Drupal, but if that were the case, then the feed displayed on the browser would be affected too. Any ideas anyone? Any help would be very much appreciated. P.S: I apologize beforehand if this question already exists. I did search for it but based on what I queried, nothing came up.

In my application I have to transfer data from my Iphone app to a PHP server and for this I have to compress the NSdata in my Iphone app and then pass it on to the PHP server and then Uncompress it in PHP and process the data sent by Iphone in PHP. For compressing the data in Iphone I have used zlib library.Now on PHP side I want to uncompress this data , but I am unable to do so. Can anyone help me in uncompressing this data in PHP.   • iPad/iPhone HTML5 video loading

    I'm trying to load on the fly on the iPad/iPhone and notice that I cannot place a div above this. I put the overlay in the html so that it's generated on page load and not added via javascript and the video when its created is absolutely positioned below this element. This works on a PC, I'm wondering if since it was created via js that the iPhone OS is overriding the z-index and forcing to the top? Also is there a way to override the default "cannot play icon", the one with the slash, and show a loading animation instead? This would solve my issue via another route. My last option would be to loaded all the video tags via js on page load and have them layered on top of each other for the iPad/iPhone? Since the iPhone OS won't load any video until requested would this work? I also am having an issue with the iPhone and showing the "poster" attribute that is set on the video tag.

    Hi All, I am new to Iphone development , I want to create an application in which I have to upload some data on php server using my Iphone application. For this I have an file on the Iphone whose content I have to upload on php server. For this I have converted the content of the file in NSData and now I want to encrypt this nsdata object and then pass it to the php server and on php server firstly I have to decrypt the nsdata object then I have to upload it on the server. But I am not able to find any way by which I can encrypt some data in Iphone app and then decrypt it in php. And also I want to compress the encrypted data before transferring it to php and then uncompress that data on php. The complete flow of my application is IPhone NSData -- Encrypted NsData -- Compressed Encrypted Data php Compressed Encrypted Data -- uncompressed encrypted data -- decrypted (original) NSData.     Howdy, I am trying to compile and install my first application onto my iPhone after setting up a profile and certificate. At this point I am getting the "No provisioned iPhone OS is connected" error when I Build & Go. I am using iPhone OS 3.1.3, and Xcode 3.2.2 on 10.6.3. • I have verified that my iPhone is connected to my development machine (it is seen on the computer by both iTunes and Xcode Organizer (in Organizer, it has the green dot next to it)). • I have rebooted the iPhone and restarted Xcode multiple times. • I have verified that the Bundle Identifier in my appname.plist is set to com.. (with the appropriate values between the angle brackets). I have looked the error message up on the web, and so far have not found a hint that has gotten me over the hump....     Hi When i start to develop my application , I used iPhone version 2.0.... Now i have update Iphone version 3.0.. My simulator works fine both in iphone 2.0 as well as iphone 3.0.. But When i run my application in 2.0 all icons in the iphone should be correct . But when i run this in 3.0 my other applications icons are changed.... (Example my safari icon should be placed to itunes and itunes icon to settings likewise all icons changed) I dont know why? Can anyone help me? THanks in advance.......

  • Books on OpenGL ES targeted towards the iPhone

    There are a few posts on this site about OpenGL and the iPhone. Some even on books but I think you'll find this question is a bit different. I've searched and searched and have come to the conclusion that there are currently no books that specifically cover OpenGL ES on the iPhone platform. There are books that cover OpenGL ES [2.0] (note: the linked book covers OpenGL ES 2.0 but the iPhone uses OpenGL ES 1.1 which, I understand, is not backward compatible)... but they only have a small section for the iPhone (if any). What I want to know, is if anybody knows of any books that are forthcoming that specifically cover OpenGL ES 1.1 on the iPhone?

    Hi All. I recently coded and launched a website that displays consistently across Chrome, Firefox, Opera, IE8, IE7, and Safari. According to site visitors, though, the signup forms at the top and bottom of the site are mangled on the iPhone. I do not own an iPhone and I rarely test sites on the iPhone, and I would really hate to purchase it or an iPod Touch for the sake of occasional CSS/display testing. Question: is there a site online or a program I can use (I'm on Windows 7) for iPhone testing? An alternative question might be why the signup forms aren't displaying properly on the iPhone, when they look fine in all other browsers and a few other mobile devices that I've used? Many thanks.

  • Disabling multitasking on iPhone 3GS using UIApplicationExitsOnSuspend not working

    Hello I am developing an iPhone app where I don’t want/need the multitasking capability and I want my app to initiate every time I open it. I have set the UIApplicationExitsOnSuspend property in the info.plist and it does work when I test it on my iPhone 4 and in the simulator (which is also an ”iPhone 4”). The app calls applicationDidEnterBackground followed by applicationWillTerminate. However, when testing it on my wifes iPhone 3GS the property seems to be completely ignored and the program gets suspended/resumed. Both phones are running iOS 4.2.1. Someone has also confirmed this issue in another thread, with no solutions unfortunately: iPhone: how to test if UIApplicationExitsOnSuspend is working? Is there something I am missing to make this work? Any other ways to accomplish this? Thanx in advance

    Hi,My process have done on before, 1) I developing an application for apple iphone an generating .app file using Ad-Hoc build. 2) My iphone os is 3.1.2 and i developing .ipa file simply drag-and-drop my .app file into iTunes on apple leopard 10.5.8 version. 3) After that this .ipa file again drag-and-drop in windowsXP iTunes. 4) Then sync iphone to iTunes of windowsXP and that .ipa file from iTunes(WindowsXP) in my iphone having version 3.1.2 . The above process i have done, it will fine worked on 3.1.2 but it not working and installing on iphone device 3.1.3 version. How i troubleshoot the above problem.

    There has been a lot of confusion and a set of corresponding set of questions here on SO how iPhone applications with proper handling for Landscape/Portrait mode autorotation can be implemented. It is especially difficult to implement such an application when starting in landscape mode is desired. The most common observed effect are scrambled layouts and areas of the screen where touches are no longer recognized. A simple search for questions tagged iphone and landscape reveals these issues, which occur under certain scenarios: Landscape only iPhone app with multiple nibs: App started in Landscape mode, view from first nib is rendered fine, everything view loaded from a different nib is not displayed correctly. Iphone Landscape mode switching to Portraite mode on loading new controller: Self explanatory iPhone: In landscape-only, after first addSubview, UITableViewController doesn’t rotate properly: Same issue as above. iPhone Landscape-Only Utility-Template Application: Layout errors, controller does not seem to recognize the view should be rotated but displays a clipped portrait view in landscape mode, causing half of the screen to stay blank. presentModalViewController in landscape after portrait viewController: Modal views are not correctly rendered either. A set of different solutions have been presented, some of them including completely custom animation via CoreGraphics, while others build on the observation that the first view controller loaded from the main nib is always displayed correct. I have spent a significant amount of time investigating this issue and finally found a solution that is not only a partial solution but should work under all these circumstances. It is my intend with this CW post to provide sort of a FAQ for others having issues with UIViewControllers in Landscape mode. Please provide feedback and help improve the quality of this Post by incorporating any related observations. Feel free to edit and post other/better answers if you know of any.

    Smart TV Remote is an unofficial Android app that lets you control Samsung Smart TVs connected over a local WiFi network. This app comes very handy when you want to control your TV which is not in line of sight of your TV remote control or just want to use your mobile phone/tablet to control the TV. Setting up a TV  is very easy using auto scan feature . Once the TV is setup, you are all set to start using the app as a remote control. A traditional remote controls makes use of infra red technology and it needs to be in the line of sight of the TV receiver to work. But this app make use of WiFi technology which give it flexibility of controlling the TV as long as the mobile & TV is connected to WiFi network. It just works even if the TV is behind a wall. The App provides very easy to use options to switch between channels and separate remotes with media controls, smart hub features and a numeric key pad if you want to navigate to a channel through its number. The App also provides a home screen widget with volume controls and channel navigation options. I use  this App to control Samsung E Series Smart Tv at home and it works very well. I’m impressed by the ease at which it allows to setup a TV, support for multiple TVs, controlling the TV though I’m not in the line of sight and using volume buttons of smart phone to control volume of TV. What’s annoying and missing with the app As advertised the app works very well in controlling Samsung TVs (B-, C-, D- E-, and F-Series) except it is very painful to move mouse pointer while browsing web on TV. When you try to move mouse pointer using the App, it mouse painfully slow especially. I gave us using the app to control mouse pointer after trying couple of times. I installed this App thinking that it may help me browse web on Smart TVs, especially a key board support to type web urls. App does not supports entering text either while browsing web or searching through Smart TV apps like YouTube, App Store etc. Developers of this App never advertised keyboard support so no complaints about this. But it would be very helpful if the developers allow this app use as a keyboard and rescue me from the pain of typing text using TV Remote control.   • Privoxy causes problem for iPod Touch Youtube App

    Whenever I use my iPod Touch G4 (iOS 4.1) at home, I cannot play Youtube videos using the Youtube app. The lists of videos shows correctly, but when I tap to play a video and the video toolbar shows up, a dialog box shows "The server is not correctly configured" and the video is not played. When I turn off my Privoxy (v3.0.15) proxy, the video plays correctly. How can I use Privoxy as the global default proxy while still retaining Youtube App functionality?

    I've added my gmail account to Mail.app It worked find in previous days, and downloaded thousands of previous mails. But now, it can't connect to gmail server for days. What's the matter here? Here is my config in account setting: Account Type: Gmail IMAP Email Address: [email protected] Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com User Name: [email protected] Password: xxxxxx And also, is there any means that I can view the transaction log of Mail.app? Maybe there I can find more information.

  • My Mother Bought a Droid

    I converted to iPhone two years ago when I left my former employer and my Blackberry behind. The truth is I half-heartedly purchased my iPhone. It was a great looking device, but as far as I was concerned, it was a mere toy compared to my Blackberry.  I remember hiding the toy in my briefcase when attending business meetings because I didn’t consider it to be professional enough.  I’ve since owned all three generations of the iPhone and, well, iPhone seems to have caught on. I still miss the click of the Blackberry keyboard and the blinking red light letting me know that someone/something requires my attention, but I’m officially an iPhone fanboy now.  My mom called last weekend and asked if she should buy an iPhone. I talked her ear off about everything I love about iPhone. I went on for about twenty minutes. I couldn’t help myself. I mentioned everything from my podcast subscriptions to the application which manages my workouts.  I went as far as to say that someday all smart phones will be referred to as iPhones just like all tissues are referred to as Kleenex and all sodas are referred to as Cokes.  I was really on a roll and then I stopped. I had to…the call dropped.  There I was, strategically standing in the far corner of my backyard where I get the most reliable AT&T reception and the call drops in middle of my iPhone pitch.  Folks, I don’t care how good a salesperson you are, it’s tough to recover from a situation like this.   I dialed my mom back and jokingly asked if she was planning to make calls with her new phone. I explained that AT&T is bound to provide better service eventually but I’m not sure she should wait. After all, I have troubles with the network in San Diego and I can only image how bad it would be for her in Western Massachusetts. Mom called back a few days later exclaiming, “I bought a Droid! I love this phone! I haven’t done anything with it but make phone calls, but I love it.”  I had to laugh.  My mom made the right call (pun intended.)  The iPhone is an amazing device, but owners are constantly reminded that its core function (it’s a phone, remember?) is subpar.  If you love gadgets, you’re probably enthralled by iPhone’s many bells and whistles and, relatively speaking, the terrible phone service might not amount to much.  (Maybe it amounts to a rant on your blog.) The overall iPhone offering is so attractive that consumers are willing to wait for AT&T to straighten up their act or wait until Apple grants a choice of carriers.  But I don’t see either of these remedies coming soon. In the interim, I’m willing to take my iPhone for what it is and just continue to enjoy my favorite features while pretending that poor coverage isn’t a big deal. With any luck, more and more reasonable folks will recognize that Android Phones are legitimate players in the smart phone space, they will buy loads of them and there will become plenty of functional phones to borrow when my “phone” is showing zero bars.  Heck, I’m already covered when I visit my mom.
