• Vimeo videos in iPhone app

  Hi guys, I was wondering if there's a way to "embed" a Vimeo video in an iPhone app. For YouTube videos I'm using a webview containing the correct embed code for the YouTube video and the iPhone's native YouTube support will then transform the flash player into a YouTube button. Is there a similar way to play Vimeo videos from my app? Maybe someone knows the correct <video>-src for Vimeo videos? thanks, Thomas

• Using socket API on IPhone

  Hi, for a little project I have to do the following task on my IPhone: open a TCP socket send a command to the server shutdown the WRITE part of the connection read the response from the server close the connection I'm not experienced with socket programming - I've just started with network programming and I've already used the CFStream interface. But obviously streams are not adequate for this task. Who can point me in the right direction? I tried to find a tutorial on Apples website about sockets, but there is nothing. Regards, Thomas

  Hi Everyone. I had this issue, with the beta2 and I thought the beta3 was going to solve it, but I'm starting to think that I'm doing something wrong. I have a MPMoviePlayerViewController playing a video and when the video ends I'm trying to change the video for another like this: [moviePlayerViewController.moviePlayer setContentURL:newVideoURL]; The app crashes when it reaches this point. • Datamapper, defining your own object methods, how?

  So lets say I have a class like below class List include DataMapper::Resource property :id, Serial property :username, String def self.my_username return self[:username] end end list=List.create(:username=>,'jim') list.my_username When I run this it tells me that the method cannot be found, and on more investigation that you can only define class methods(not object methods) and that class methods don't have access to objects data. Is there any way to have these methods included as object methods and get access to object data? I'm using Ruby 1.8.6 and the latest version of datamapper.

I was wondering what my development options are, should I use OpenGL, Quartz,...? I've use UIImageView.animationImages before and found that it had really bad performance. • How do I use xStream to output Java Objects with List properties?

  Hello, I am trying to output some Java objects as JSON, they have List properties which I want to be formatted as { "People" : [ { "Name" : "Bob" } , { "Name" : "Jim" } ] } However, I cannot figure out how to do this with XStream. It always outputs as { "Person" : { "Name" : "Bob" }, "Person" : { "Name" : "Bob" } Is there a way to fix this? • Accented characters in matplotlib

  Does anyone know a way to get matplotlib to render accented chars (é,ã,â,etc)? For instance i'm trying to use accented chars on set_yticklabels() and matplot renders squares instead, and when i use unicode() it renders the wrong chars. Is there a way to make this work? Thanks in advance, Jim.

But this is not working becouse sum works with numbers not strings. If i go with lookup, it works with strings but finds only first line, not all lines. Do you have an Idea on how to fix this issue? • Loading from pickled data causes database error with new saves

  In order to save time moving data I pickled some models and dumped them to file. I then reloaded them into another database using the same exact model. The save worked fine and the objects kept their old id which is what I wanted. However, when saving new objects I run into nextval errors. Not being very adept with postgres, I'm not sure how to fix this so I can keep old records with their existing ID while being able to continue adding new data. Thanks, Thomas

  I have a virtual machine with Fedora 19 acting as a router. This machine as an interface (p8p1) with the IP 172.16.1.254 that is connected to another machine (IP 172.16.1.1) that's simulating the external network. I've installed snort 2.9.2.2, applied the snortsam-2.9.2.2.diff.gz patch and installed snortsam 2.70 on the routermachine In snort.conf besides altering some RULE_PATH I believe I've only added the following line to the file. output alert_fwsam: 127.0.0.1:898/password After doing this two comands: ifconfig p8p1 promisc /usr/local/snort/bin/snort -v -i p8p1 If I ping from the external network to the router IP, I can see the info about the pings.
