  • PyDev and Django: PyDev breaking Django shell?

    - by Rosarch
    I've set up a new project, and populated it with simple models. (Essentially I'm following the tut.) When I run python manage.py shell on the command line, it works fine: >python manage.py shell Python 2.6.4 (r264:75708, Oct 26 2009, 08:23:19) [MSC v.1500 32 bit (Intel)] on win32 Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. (InteractiveConsole) >>> from mysite.myapp.models import School >>> School.objects.all() [] Works great. Then, I try to do the same thing in Eclipse (using a Django project that is composed of the same files.) Right click on mysite project Django Shell with Django environment This is the output from the PyDev Console: >>> import sys; print('%s %s' % (sys.executable or sys.platform, sys.version)) C:\Python26\python.exe 2.6.4 (r264:75708, Oct 26 2009, 08:23:19) [MSC v.1500 32 bit (Intel)] >>> >>> from django.core import management;import mysite.settings as settings;management.setup_environ(settings) 'path\\to\\mysite' >>> from mysite.myapp.models import School >>> School.objects.all() Traceback (most recent call last): File "<console>", line 1, in <module> File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\django\db\models\query.py", line 68, in __repr__ data = list(self[:REPR_OUTPUT_SIZE + 1]) File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\django\db\models\query.py", line 83, in __len__ self._result_cache.extend(list(self._iter)) File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\django\db\models\query.py", line 238, in iterator for row in self.query.results_iter(): File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\django\db\models\sql\query.py", line 287, in results_iter for rows in self.execute_sql(MULTI): File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\django\db\models\sql\query.py", line 2368, in execute_sql cursor = self.connection.cursor() File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\django\db\backends\__init__.py", line 81, in cursor cursor = self._cursor() File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\django\db\backends\sqlite3\base.py", line 170, in _cursor self.connection = Database.connect(**kwargs) OperationalError: unable to open database file What am I doing wrong here?

  • Custom RoleProvider: Can't insert record in UsersInRole Table

    - by mahr.g.mohyuddin
    Hi, I have implemented a LINQ to SQL based RoleProvider, when I assign role to a user following exception is thrown while AddUsersToRoles method is called. I have defined a composite primary key userid & roleId on this table, it still throwing this exception: Can't perform Create, Update or Delete operations on 'Table(UsersInRole)' because it has no primary key. My LinQ to SQL implementation of AddUsersToRoles method is as follows. It breaks at db.UsersInRoles.InsertOnSubmit(userInRole); using (RussarmsDataContext db = new RussarmsDataContext()) { List<UsersInRole> usersInRole = new List<UsersInRole>(); foreach (string username in usernames) { foreach (string rolename in rolenames) { UsersInRole userInRole = new UsersInRole(); object userId = ProvidersUtility.GetUserIdByUserName(username,applicationName); object roleId = ProvidersUtility.GetRoleIdByRoleName(rolename,applicationName); if (userId != null && roleId != null) { userInRole.UserId = (Guid)userId; userInRole.RoleId = (Guid)roleId; db.UsersInRoles.InsertOnSubmit(userInRole); } } } try { // db.UsersInRoles.InsertAllOnSubmit(usersInRole); db.SubmitChanges(); } catch (ChangeConflictException) { db.ChangeConflicts.ResolveAll(RefreshMode.OverwriteCurrentValues); db.SubmitChanges(); } } Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

  • The ViewData item that has the key 'MY KEY' is of type 'System.String' but must be of type 'IEnumerable<SelectListItem>'.

    - by JBibbs
    I am trying to populate a dropdown list from a database mapped with Linq 2 SQL, using ASP.NET MVC 2, and keep getting this error. I am so confused because I am declaring a variable with the type IEnumerable<SelectListItem> on the second line, but the error makes me think this is not the case. I feel like this should be very simple, but I am struggling. Any help is appreciated. Here are the interesting bits of my controller: public ActionResult Create() { var db = new DB(); IEnumerable<SelectListItem> basetypes = db.Basetypes.Select(b => new SelectListItem { Value = b.basetype, Text = b.basetype }); ViewData["basetype"] = basetypes; return View(); } And here are the interesting bits of my view: <div class="editor-label"> <%: Html.LabelFor(model => model.basetype) %> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%: Html.DropDownList("basetype") %> <%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.basetype) %> </div> Here is the Post action when submitting the Form // POST: /Meals/Create [HttpPost] public ActionResult Create(Meal meal) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { try { // TODO: Add insert logic here var db = new DB(); db.Meals.InsertOnSubmit(meal); db.SubmitChanges(); return RedirectToAction("Index"); } catch { return View(meal); } } else { return View(meal); } } Thanks.

  • How do I get syncdb db_table and app_label to play nicely together

    - by Chris Heisel
    I've got a model that looks something like this: class HeiselFoo(models.Model): title = models.CharField(max_length=250) class Meta: """ Meta """ app_label = "Foos" db_table = u"medley_heiselfoo_heiselfoo" And whenever I run my test suite, I get an error because Django isn't creating the tables for that model. It appears to be an interaction between app_label and db_table -- as the test suite runs normally if db_table is set, but app_label isn't. • NoSuchMethodError in Java using XStream

    - by Brad Germain
    I'm trying to save a database into a file using XStream and then open it again later using XStream and deserialize it back into the objects it was in previously. The database consists of an arraylist of tables, which consists of an arraylist of a data class where the data class contains an arraylist of objects. I'm basically trying to create an sql compiler. I'm currently getting a java.lang.NoSuchMethodError because of the last line in the load method. Here's what I have: Save Method public void save(Database DB){ File file = new File(DB.getName().toUpperCase() + ".xml"); //Test sample DB.createTable("TBL1(character(a));"); DB.tables.getTable("TBL1").rows.add(new DataList()); DB.tables.getTable("TBL1").rows.getRow(0).add(10); XStream xstream = new XStream(); //Database xstream.alias("Database", Database.class); //Tables xstream.alias("Table", Table.class); //Rows xstream.alias("Row", DataList.class); //Data //xstream.alias("Data", Object.class); //String xml = xstream.toXML(DB); Writer writer = null; try { writer = new FileWriter(file); writer.write(xstream.toXML(DB)); writer.close(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } Load Method public void Load(String dbName){ XStream xstream = new XStream(); BufferedReader br; StringBuffer buff = null; try { br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(dbName + ".xml")); buff = new StringBuffer(); String line; while((line = br.readLine()) != null){ buff.append(line); } } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } database = (Database)xstream.fromXML(buff.toString()); }

  • How to cache L2E entity without attach/detach?

    - by Eran Betzalel
    The following code will select a key/value table in the DB and will save the result to the cache: using (var db = new TestEntities()) { if(Cache["locName_" + inventoryLocationName] != null) return Cache["locName_" + inventoryLocationName]; var location = db.InventoryLocationsSet.FirstOrDefault( i => i.InventoryLocationName.Equals( inventoryLocationName, StringComparison.CurrentCultureIgnoreCase)); db.Detach(location); // ???? Cache["locName_" + inventoryLocationName] = location; return location; } But it doesn't work well when I'm trying to use the cached object. Of course, the problem is the different ObjectContext, so I use Attach/Detach and then the problem solves but with a codding horror price: db.Attach(locationFromCache); // ???? try { // Use location as foreign key db.SaveChanges(); } finally { db.Detach(locationFromCache); // ???? } So, how can I use cached objects without using attach/detach methods? What happens if more than one user will have to use this cached object? Should I put the whole thing in a CriticalSection?!

    Hi all, I am wondering if someone could please help me convert a piece of PHP code that is now deprecated. Here is the single line I am trying to convert: if(eregi(trim ($request_url_handler[$x]),$this->sys_request_url) && $this->id_found == 0){ It is part of a function that return the configuration settings for a website. Below is the whole function. // GET CORRECT CONFIG FROM DATABASE function get_config($db) { global $tbl_prefix; $db->query("SELECT cid,urls FROM ".$tbl_prefix."sys_config ORDER BY cid"); while($db->next_record()){ $request_url_handler = explode("\n",$db->f("urls")); if(empty($request_url_handler[0])) { $request_url_handler[0] = "@"; $this->id_found = 2; } for($x=0; $x<count($request_url_handler); $x++) { if(empty($request_url_handler[$x])) { $request_url_handler[$x] = "@"; } if(eregi(trim($request_url_handler[$x]),$this->sys_request_url) && $this->id_found == 0) { $this->set_config($db,$db->f("cid")); $this->id_found = 1; } } if($this->id_found == 1) { return($this->sys_config_vars); } } $this->set_config($db,""); return($this->sys_config_vars); } Any help would be great ly appreciated. I only found the the eregi function was deprecated since I updated XAMPP to 1.7.3.

  • Using map/reduce for mapping the properties in a collection

    - by And
    Update: follow-up to MongoDB Get names of all keys in collection. As pointed out by Kristina, one can use Mongodb 's map/reduce to list the keys in a collection: db.things.insert( { type : ['dog', 'cat'] } ); db.things.insert( { egg : ['cat'] } ); db.things.insert( { type : [] }); db.things.insert( { hello : [] } ); mr = db.runCommand({"mapreduce" : "things", "map" : function() { for (var key in this) { emit(key, null); } }, "reduce" : function(key, stuff) { return null; }}) db[mr.result].distinct("_id") //output: [ "_id", "egg", "hello", "type" ] As long as we want to get only the keys located at the first level of depth, this works fine. However, it will fail retrieving those keys that are located at deeper levels. If we add a new record: db.things.insert({foo: {bar: {baaar: true}}}) And we run again the map-reduce +distinct snippet above, we will get: [ "_id", "egg", "foo", "hello", "type" ] But we will not get the bar and the baaar keys, which are nested down in the data structure. The question is: how do I retrieve all keys, no matter their level of depth? Ideally, I would actually like the script to walk down to all level of depth, producing an output such as: ["_id","egg","foo","foo.bar","foo.bar.baaar","hello","type"] Thank you in advance!

  • PDO prepare silently fails

    - by Wabbitseason
    I'm experimenting with PHP's session_set_save_handler and I'd like to use a PDO connection to store session data. I have this function as a callback for write actions: function _write($id, $data) { logger('_WRITE ' . $id . ' ' . $data); try { $access = time(); $sql = 'REPLACE INTO sessions SET id=:id, access=:access, data=:data'; logger('This is the last line in this function that appears in the log.'); $stmt = $GLOBALS['db']->prepare($sql); logger('This never gets logged! :('); $stmt->bindParam(':id', $id, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->bindParam(':access', $access, PDO::PARAM_INT); $stmt->bindParam(':data', $data, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->execute(); $stmt->closeCursor(); return true; } catch (PDOException $e) { logger('This is never executed.'); logger($e->getTraceAsString()); } } The first two log messages always show up, but the third one right after $stmt = $GLOBALS['db']->prepare($sql) never makes it to the log file and there's no trace of an exception either. The sessions db table remains empty. The log message from the _close callback is always present. Here's how I connect to the database: $db = new PDO('mysql:host=' . DBHOST . ';dbname=' . DBNAME, DBUSER, DBPASS); $db->setAttribute(PDO::ATTR_ERRMODE, PDO::ERRMODE_EXCEPTION); I have PHP 5.2.10. I tried to simply run $GLOBALS['db']->exec($sql) with a "manually prepared" $sql content, but it still failed silently. The query itself is all right I was able to execute it via the db console.

  • db4o problem with graph of objects

    - by Staszek28
    I am a new to db4o. I have a big problem with persistance of a graph of objects. I am trying to migrate from old persistance component to new, using db4o. Before I peristed all objects its graph looked like below (Take a look at Zrodlo.Metadane.abstrakt string field with focused value) [its view from eclipse debuger] with a code: ObjectContainer db=Db4o.openFile(DB_FILE); try { db.store(encja); db.commit(); } finally{ db.close(); } After that, I tried to read it with a code: ObjectContainer db=Db4o.openFile((DB_FILE)); try{ Query q = db.query(); q.constrain(EncjaDanych.class); ObjectSet<Object> objectSet = q.execute(); logger.debug("objectSet.size" + objectSet.size()); EncjaDanych encja = (EncjaDanych) objectSet.get(0); logger.debug("ENCJA" + encja.toString()); return encja; }finally{ db.close(); } and I got it (picture below) - string field "abstrakt" is null now !!! I take a look at it using ObjectManager (picture below) and abstrakt field has not-null value there!!! The same value, that on the 1st picture. Please help me :) It is my second day with db4o. Thanks in advance! I am attaching some code with structure of persisted class: public class EncjaDanych{ Map mapaIdRepo = new HashMap(); public Map mapaNazwaRepo = new HashMap(); }

  • design an extendable database model

    - by wishi_
    Hi! Currently I'm doing a project whose specifications are unclear - well who doesn't. I wonder what's the best development strategy to design a DB, that's going to be extended sooner or later with additional tables and relations. I want to include "changeability". My main concern is that I want to apply design patterns (it's a university project) and I want to separate the constant factors from those, that change by choosing appropriate design patterns - in my case MVC and a set of sub-patterns at model level. When it comes to the DB however, I may have to resdesign my model in my MVC approach, because my domain model at a later stage my require a different set of classes representing the DB tables. I use Hibernate as an abstraction layer between DB and application. Would you start with a very minimal DB, just a few tables and relations? And what if I want an efficient DB, too? I wonder what strategies are applied in the real world. Stakeholder analysis for example isn't a sufficient planing solution when it comes to changing requirements. I think - at a DB level - my design pattern ends. So there's breach whose impact I'd like to minimize with a smart strategy.

  • LINQ-to-SQL - Join, Count

    - by ile
    I have following query: var result = ( from role in db.Roles join user in db.Users on role.RoleID equals user.RoleID where user.CreatedByUserID == userID orderby user.FirstName ascending select new UserViewModel { UserID = user.UserID, PhotoID = user.PhotoID.ToString(), FirstName = user.FirstName, LastName = user.LastName, FullName = user.FirstName + " " + user.LastName, Email = user.Email, PhoneNumber = user.Phone, AccessLevel = role.Name }); Now, I need to modify this query... Other table I have is table Deals. I would like to count how many deals user created last month and last year. I tried something like this: var result = ( from role in db.Roles join user in db.Users on role.RoleID equals user.RoleID //join dealsYear in db.Deals on date.Year equals dealsYear.DateCreated.Year join dealsYear in ( from deal in db.Deals group deal by deal.DateCreated into d select new { DateCreated = d.Key, dealsCount = d.Count() } ) on date.Year equals dealsYear.DateCreated.Year into dYear join dealsMonth in ( from deal in db.Deals group deal by deal.DateCreated into d select new { DateCreated = d.Key, dealsCount = d.Count() } ) on date.Month equals dealsMonth.DateCreated.Month into dMonth where user.CreatedByUserID == userID orderby user.FirstName ascending select new UserViewModel { UserID = user.UserID, PhotoID = user.PhotoID.ToString(), FirstName = user.FirstName, LastName = user.LastName, FullName = user.FirstName + " " + user.LastName, Email = user.Email, PhoneNumber = user.Phone, AccessLevel = role.Name, DealsThisYear = dYear, DealsThisMonth = dMonth }); but here is even syntax not correct. Any idea? Btw, is there any good book of LINQ to SQL with examples?

  • can I put my sqlite connection and cursor in a function?

    - by steini
    I was thinking I'd try to make my sqlite db connection a function instead of copy/pasting the ~6 lines needed to connect and execute a query all over the place. I'd like to make it versatile so I can use the same function for create/select/insert/etc... Below is what I have tried. The 'INSERT' and 'CREATE TABLE' queries are working, but if I do a 'SELECT' query, how can I work with the values it fetches outside of the function? Usually I'd like to print the values it fetches and also do other things with them. When I do it like below I get an error Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\steini\Desktop\py\database\test3.py", line 15, in <module> for row in connection('testdb45.db', "select * from users"): ProgrammingError: Cannot operate on a closed database. So I guess the connection needs to be open so I can get the values from the cursor, but I need to close it so the file isn't always locked. Here's my testing code: import sqlite3 def connection (db, arg): conn = sqlite3.connect(db) conn.execute('pragma foreign_keys = on') cur = conn.cursor() cur.execute(arg) conn.commit() conn.close() return cur connection('testdb.db', "create table users ('user', 'email')") connection('testdb.db', "insert into users ('user', 'email') values ('joey', 'foo@bar')") for row in connection('testdb45.db', "select * from users"): print row How can I make this work?

  • Working with PHP and MySQL - need a good and secure design with OO design

    - by Andrew
    I am new to PHP- first time developer. I am working on my web application and it is nearly done; nevertheless, most of my sql was done directly via code using direct mysql requests. This is the way I approached it: In classes_db.php I declared the db settings and created methods that I use to open and close DB connections. I declare those objects on my regular pages: class classes_db { public $dbserver = 'server; public $dbusername = 'user'; public $dbpassword = 'pass'; public $dbname = 'db'; function openDb() { $dbhandle = mysql_connect($this->dbserver, $this->dbusername, $this->dbpassword); if (!$dbhandle) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } $selected = mysql_select_db($this->dbname, $dbhandle) or die("Could not select the database"); return $dbhandle; } function closeDb($con) { mysql_close($con); } } On my regular page, I do this: <?php require 'classes_db.php'; session_start(); //create instance of the DB class $db = new classes_db(); //get dbhandle $dbhandle = $db->openDb(); //process query $result = mysql_query("update user set username = '" . $usernameFromForm . "' where iduser= " . $_SESSION['user']->iduser); //close the connection if (isset($dbhandle)) { $db->closeDb($dbhandle); } ?> My questions is: how to do it right and make it OO and secure? I know that I need incorporate prepared queries- how to do it the best way? Please provide some code

  • mysql query not running correctly from inside the application

    - by Mala
    I am completely stumped. Here is my php (CodeIgniter) code: function mod() { $uid = $this->session->userdata('uid'); $pid = $this->input->post('pid'); if ($this->_verify($uid,$pid)) { $name = $this->input->post('name'); $price = $this->input->post('price'); $curr = $this->input->post('curr'); $url = $this->input->post('url'); $query = $this->db->query("UPDATE items SET name=".$this->db->escape($name).", price=".$this->db->escape($price).", currency=".$this->db->escape($curr),", url=".$this->db->escape($url)." WHERE pid=".$this->db->escape($pid)." LIMIT 1"); } header('location: '.$this->session->userdata('current')); } The purpose of this code is to modify the properties (name, price, currency, url) of a row in the 'items' table (priary key is pid). However, for some reason, allowing this function to run once modifies the name, price, currency and url of ALL entries in the table, regardless of their pid and of the LIMIT 1 thing I tacked on the end of the query. It's as if the last line of the query is being completely ignored. As if this wasn't strance enough, I replaced "$query = $this->db->query(" with an "echo" to see the SQL query being run, and it outputs a query much like I would expect: UPDATE items SET name='newname', price='newprice', currency='newcurrency', url='newurl' WHERE pid='10' LIMIT 1 Copy-pasting this into a MySQL window acts exactly as I want: it modifies the row with the selected pid. What is going on here???

  • Rollback doesn't work in MySQLdb

    I have next code ... db = MySQLdb.connect(host=host, user=user, passwd=passwd, db=db, charset='utf8', use_unicode=True) db.autocommit(False) cursor = db.cursor() ... for col in ws.columns[1:]: data = (col[NUM_ROW_GENERATION].value, 1, type_topliv_dict[col[NUM_ROW_FUEL].value]) fullgeneration_id = data[0] type_topliv = data[2] if data in completions_set: compl_id = completions_dict[data] else: ... sql = u"INSERT INTO completions (type, mark, model, car_id, type_topliv, fullgeneration_id, mark_id, model_id, production_period, year_from, year_to, production_period_url) VALUES (1, '%s', '%s', 0, %s, %s, %s, %s, '%s', '%s', '%s', '%s')" % (marks_dict[mark_id], models_dict[model_id], type_topliv, fullgeneration_id, mark_id, model_id, production_period, year_from, year_to, production_period.replace(' ', '_').replace(u'?.?.', 'nv') ) inserted_completion += cursor.execute(sql) cursor.execute("SELECT fullgeneration_id, type, type_topliv, id FROM completions where fullgeneration_id = %s AND type_topliv = %s" % (fullgeneration_id, type_topliv)) row = cursor.fetchone() compl_id = row[3] if is_first_car: deleted_compl_rus = cursor.execute("delete from compl_rus where compl_id = %s" % compl_id) for param, row_id in params: sql = u"INSERT INTO compl_rus (compl_id, modification, groupparam, param, paramvalue) VALUES (%s, '%s', '%s', '%s', %s)" % (compl_id, col[NUM_ROW_MODIFICATION].value, param[0], param[1], col[row_id].value) inserted_compl_rus += cursor.execute(sql) is_first_car = False db.rollback() print '\nSTATISTICS:' print 'Inserted completion:', inserted_completion print 'Inserted compl_rus:', inserted_compl_rus print 'Deleted compl_rus:', deleted_compl_rus ans = raw_input('Commit changes? (y/n)') db.close() I has manually deleted records from table and than run script two times. See https://dpaste.de/MwMa . I think, that rollback in my code doesn't work. Why?

  • Followed the official android documentations but still could not use SQLite in app

    - by user366539
    My DBHelper class public class DBHelper extends SQLiteOpenHelper { public DBHelper(Context context) { super(context,"SIMPLE_DB",null,1); } @Override public void onCreate(SQLiteDatabase db) { db.execSQL("CREATE TABLE SIMPLE_TABLE ( " + "ID INTEGER PRIMARY KEY " + "DESC TEXT);"); } @Override public void onUpgrade(SQLiteDatabase db, int oldVersion, int newVersion) { } } Activity class public class SimpleDatabase extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); DBHelper dbHelper = new DBHelper(this); SQLiteDatabase db = dbHelper.getReadableDatabase(); db.execSQL("INSERT INTO SIMPLE_TABLE VALUES (NULL, 'test');"); Cursor cursor = db.rawQuery("SELECT * FROM SIMPLE_TABLE", null); TextView text = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.textbox); text.setText(cursor.getString(0)); } } I figure it crashed (application has stopped unexpectedly!) at SQLiteDatabase db = ... because if I commented the code out from there to the end then it worked fine. But I have no idea whatsoever why it does that. Any help would be appreciated.

  • mysql to codeigniter active record help

    - by JoeM05
    Active record is a neet concept but sometimes I find it difficult to get more complicated queries to work. I find this is at least one place the CI docs are lacking. Anyway, This is the sql I wrote. It returns the expected results of quests not yet completed by the user that are unlocked and within the users level requirements: SELECT writing_quests . * FROM `writing_quests` LEFT OUTER JOIN members_quests_completed ON members_quests_completed.quest_id = writing_quests.id LEFT OUTER JOIN members ON members.id = $user_id WHERE writing_quests.unlocked =1 AND writing_quests.level_required <= $userlevel AND members_quests_completed.user_id IS NULL This is the codeigniter active record query, it returns all quests that are unlocked and within the users level requirement: $this->db->select('writing_quests.*'); $this->db->from('writing_quests'); $this->db->join('members_quests_completed', 'members_quests_completed.quest_id = writing_quests.id', 'left outer'); $this->db->join('members', "members.id = $user_id", 'left outer'); $this->db->where('writing_quests.unlock', 1); $this->db->where('writing_quests.level_required <=', $userlevel); $this->db->where('members_quests_completed.user_id is null', null, true); I'm guessing there is something wrong with the way I am asking for Nulls. To be thorough, I figured I'd include everything.
