  I have a general question about the design of JavaScript Libraries. I am trying to consolidate common methods into one js file so they can be reused by different scripts. I have taken a look at how the JSON library is structured and believe it was a good approach. JSON for Javascript. So they start off creating an instance of the class: if (!this.JSON) { this.JSON = {}; } Then they do this: (function () { if (typeof JSON.stringify !== 'function') { JSON.stringify = function (value, replacer, space) { This is works perfect if you just want to do JSON.[function_name], but what if I want to have a more structured library such that I want: JSON.[subgroup].[function]. How would I structure my JS library in such a way? Any links to resources are greatly appreciated, thanks.

• C# Keeping DLLs with the associated library

  We have a library built on the back of eldos' Secure Black Box. We use copy local to ensure that the appropriate runtime DLLs are included. If we now reference our library in another project with a copy local our library is copied into the bin folder of our main project but the Eldos SBB libraries aren't. We could reference SBB in the main project but there are no direct calls to SBB so any time the code is refactored the references may be removed as unused. What is the best way of handling this issue? Simon

• Automate publishing of a WCF library using MSBuild

  I searched and couldn't find anything releated to this topic. When using Visual Studio 2010 for a WCF library, you can right-click it and publish the WCF Library, which generates/creates the .svc and web.config file as well as deploys it. I have been trying to mimic this in msbuild and have had no success. Is this possible? I have build scripts to deploy a WCF application, website, and have had no luck using these scripts to successfully deploy a WCF library. When i do use them, it compiles the Dll's but not the .svc or web.config file. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  Im looking for a simple Javascript Library (svg?) that allow me to draw a family tree relationships. I have searched a lot on google found a lot of interesting libraries like Raphaël and its extention Dracula. Google has its own library to make flowcharts too. Unfortunally, every library make a relation between nodes with a sigle line. If A and B has a relation to C, I will obtain 2 line: one from A to C and one from B to C. What I need is a line from A to B (we call it AB) and a line from AB to C to represent the Marriage of A and B. example-image Thanks.

  I have a little issue right now and its bugging me, hopefully one of you guys will be able to help me out. Basically I'm creating a library to use in CodeIgniter and I'm getting this error: A PHP Error was encountered Severity: Notice Message: Undefined property: Functions::$db Filename: libraries/Functions.php Line Number: 11 The Database library is already on autoload aswell as my functions library: $autoload['libraries'] = array('database','session','encrypt','functions'); The Functions.php file is located in the application/libraries folder accordingly. Line number 11 consists of this: $this->db->where('username', $data); Not sure as to why the db is an undefined property?

  I have come up against problems installing MySQL-python via yum. Our server is running Centos 5.5 and MySQL Version 5.1.45, Python-dev is installed. Yum complains about the missing dependency libmysqlclient_r.so.15: Missing Dependency: libmysqlclient_r.so.15()(64bit) is needed by package MySQL-python-1.2.1-1.x86_64 (base) The server is up to date and the packages mysql mysql-devel python-devel are installed.   I would like to analyse a set of hundreds of thousands of product images (clothing, electronic goods etc) and retrieve the dominant colours in each. I'm only interested in the top 3 or 4 colours. The aim is to achieve a degree of certainty that x image is mostly red or image y is mostly orange and blue. The images are likely to be colour jpegs of reasonable quality and approximately 100kb in size. I would like to use C# and the solution should run on a Linux server, preferably using open source libraries. What image processing algorithms or techniques might help me achieve this?

However, it does not tell me objects' boundaries. I can calculate them, but only given the original image's polygons. How do I get polygons of objects in a transparent image? • C# program that generates html pages - limit image dimensions on page

  I have a C# program that generates a large number of html pages, based on various bits of data and images that I have stored on the file system. The html itself works just fine, but the images can vary greatly in their dimensions. I need a way to ensure that a given image won't exceed a certain size on the page. The simplest way to accomplish this would be through the html itself... if there was some kind of "maxwidth" or "maxheight" property I could set in the html, or maybe a way to force the image to fit inside a table cell (if I used something like this, I'd have to be sure that the non-offending dimension would automatically scale with the one that's being reduced). The problem is, I don't know much about this "fine tuning" kind of stuff in html, and it seems to be a tough thing to Google around for (most of the solutions involve some sort of html specialization; I'm just using plain html). Alternatively, I could determine the width and height of each image at runtime by examining the image in C#, and then setting width/height values in the html if the image's dimensions exceed a certain value. The problem here is that is seems incredibly inefficient to load an entire image into memory, just to get its dimensions. I would need a way to "peek" at an image and just get its size (it could be bmp, jpg, gif or png). Any recommendations for either approach would be greatly appreciated.

  TinyMCE has always been a little difficult to align images. Either the align tag, or adding style="float: left;" has been it solution. Ideally I would just like to add class="left" or class="right" so that I can set the border and margins of the image. Up until now the only way to do this without using the advimage plugin was to insert the image, then select it, the select a style from the style menu. Ideally I should be able to use the align control in the image dialogue to set the alignment class or use the alignment controls on the toolbar when in the main editing window. I have just again started looking at a solution to this, now that IE6 is finally starting to die, I can use CSS attributes in selectors, so IMG[style="float: left;"] {} Works, but I would rather use a class incase there are any other style attributes which will cause the selector to fail. And it doesn't work in IE6, and you know some corporate clients will still be running the bloody thing! So I looked through the TinyMCE documentation and found the formats configuration option, that seems to allow you to specify how tinyMCE applies code for various operations. Here I can add the IMG tag as a selector, and have classes: "left" for the alignleft function. This applies the class correctly when the alignment is selected from the toolbar, but it still writes an inline style when the alignment is selected through the image dialogue. Am I doing something wrong or is there a better way of doing this that will allow my clients to select image alignment from both the image dialogue and the toolbar, whilst applying a class to the image?

• Python coding with VLC player (quite a basic query I expect)

  I'm fairly new to the whole coding realm so my knowledge is fairly limited, and I can't seem to find any basic tutorials on how to use scripts with VLC player. More specifically, the reason I'm asking here is because I stumbled across a post on this site about playing random clips from random videos on VLC player automatically. This is the forum post: Playback random section from multiple videos changing every 5 minutes My situation is similar to this lovely gentleman's was, though he clearly knows a lot more about coding than I do. In short, I'd like to copy this coding into a file of some sort and apply it to VLC player myself. Only I'm not sure what file type I'd have to save it as (I have Python by the way, and I tried saving it as a .py file but I didn't know if it was correct or where to go from there). Additionally, I'm not sure how to get VLC to "read" the script, so to speak - is there a specific location the file needs to be, and do I run the script from another program or through VLC? I'll reiterate that I'm relatively new to this, so if anybody would be so kind as to post a quick list of steps on how to save/place the file and use it with VLC player I really would appreciate it! P.S. I'm not computer illiterate, I'm fine with most programs and I'd understand if you just said things like "C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\plugins" or "in VLC, select Tools Plugins and extensions", I just wouldn't catch on to anything about adding a line of coding that does something without being told exactly what to write! Here is the primary difference- Any time the file is referenced in XAML, it shows up as pack://aplication:,,, blah blah blah when I use the PngBitmapDecoder, it shows up correctly as "./Images/contact.png". How do I reference the image file in XAML and get it show a source as "./Images/contact.png" instead of a pack://application,,,blah blah blah?

• AutoKey - clipboard.get_selection() function fails on certain strings

  I've simplified my script so you can focus on the essence my problem. In AutoKey (not AutoHotKey), I made a Hot-Key (shift-alt-T) that performs this script on any string I have highlighted (like in gedit for example -- but any other gui editor too). strSelectedText = clipboard.get_selection() keyboard.send_keys(" " + strSelectedText) The script modifies the highlighted text and adds a space to the beginning of the string. It works for most strings I highlight, but not this one: * Copyright © 2008–2012 Lonnie Best. Licensed under the MIT License. It works for this string: * Add a Space 2.0.1 but not on this one: * Add a Space 2.0.1 – At the python command prompt, it has no problem any of those strings, yet the clipboard.get_selection() function seems to get corrupted by them. I'm rather new to python scripting, so I'm not sure if this is an AutoKey bug, or if I'm missing some knowledge I should know about encoding/preparing strings in python. Please help. • Excel fails to open Python-generated CSV files

  I have many Python scripts that output CSV files. It is occasionally convenient to open these files in Excel. After installing OS X Mavericks, Excel no longer opens these files properly: Excel doesn't parse the files and it duplicates the rows of the file until it runs out of memory. Specifically, when Excel attempts to open the file, a prompt appears that reads: "File not loaded completely." Example of code I'm using to generate the CSV files: import csv with open('csv_test.csv', 'wb') as f: writer = csv.writer(f) writer.writerow([1,2,3]) writer.writerow([4,5,6]) Even the simple file generated by the above code fails to load properly in Excel. However, if I open the CSV file in a text editor and copy/paste the text into Excel, parse it with text to columns, and then save as CSV from Excel, then I can reopen the CSV file in Excel without issue. Do I need to pass an additional parameter in my scripts to make Excel parse the CSV files the same way it used to? Or is there some setting I can change in OS X Mavericks or Excel? Thanks.

• Browser performance when combining image resizing with animated movement

  I have been tasked with the job of converting a Flash animation into HTML. The animation is rather complex and requires the need to move multiple images (9) from location (x,y) to location (x2,y2) while simultaneously increasing the image size from 215px wide to 930px wide. While doing some initial testing of this animation with just 1-2 images, I noticed a lot of choppiness in FF handling of this animation. To try and isolate the problem, I removed the dynamic resizing of the animation and just moved it from point A to point B. What was interesting was that I saw the same behavior when simply moving a 930px image that was resized down to 215px (via the CSS width or inline width properties). When I try the same animation with a different image that is actually 215px wide, it performed smoothly. I then tried the same animation with the original 930px wide image (with no resizing) and it performed well also. This makes me wonder if the browser is having to "resize" the image down to 215px each time it is moved which is causing the choppiness. Is this a correct assumption? If so, is there any other way to optimize the animation to allow for simultaneous image resizing and image movement? Notes: 1) One optimization I have done is to position the images absolutely in order to minimize the reflow process. 2) I have tested the animation using both jQuery and the fX animation framework.

• Configuring wsgi for a simple Python based site

  I have an Ubuntu 10.04 server that already has apache and wsgi working. I also have a python script that works just fine using the make_server command: if __name__ == '__main__': from wsgiref.simple_server import make_server srv = make_server('', 8080, display_status) srv.serve_forever() Now I would like to have the page always active without having to run the script manually. I looked at what Moin is doing. I found these lines in apache2.conf: WSGIScriptAlias /wiki /usr/local/share/moin/moin.wsgi WSGIDaemonProcess moin user=www-data group=www-data processes=5 threads=10 maximum-requests=1000 umask=0007 WSGIProcessGroup moin And moin.wsgi is as listed: import sys, os sys.path.insert(0, '/usr/local/share/moin') from MoinMoin.web.serving import make_application application = make_application(shared=True) QUESTION: Can I create a similar section in apache2.conf pointing to another wsgi file? Like this: WSGIScriptAlias /status /mypath/status.wsgi WSGIDaemonProcess status user=www-data group=www-data processes=5 threads=10 maximum-requests=1000 umask=0007 WSGIProcessGroup status And if so, what is required to convert my simple_server script into a daemonized process? • How to improve performance of map that loads new overlay images

  I have inherited a website to maintain that uses a html map overlaying a real map to link specific countries to specific pages. previously it loaded the default map image, then with some javascript it would change the image src to an image with that particular country in a different colour on mouseover and reset the image source back to the original image on mouse out to make maintenance (adding new countries) easier i made the initial map a background image by utilising some CSS for the div tag, and then created new images for each country which only had that countries hightlight so that the images remain fairly small. this works great but theres one issue which is particularly noticeable on slower internet connections when you hover over a country if you dont have the image file in your browser cache or downloaded it wont load the image unless you hover over another country and then back onto the first country - i guess this is due to the image having to manually be downloaded on first hover. My question: is it possible to force the load of these extra images AFTER the page and all the other assets have finished loading so that this behaviour is all but eliminated? the html code for the MAP is as follows: <div class="gtmap"><img id="Image-Maps_6200909211657061" src="<?php echo cdnhttpsCheck();   I am attempting to preload images using JavaScript. This happens because the last link http://www.iill.net/wp-content/uploads/images/hot-chick.jpg is not a direct link to the image. If you go to that link, your browser will redirect you to the ACTUAL location. Now, my image preloading code in Chrome works perfectly well, and the effects look great. Because it seems that Chrome preloads the actual data - the EVENTUAL image that is to be shown. This means that in Chrome if I preloaded an image that will redirect to 'stop stealing my bandwidth', then the image that gets preloaded is 'stop stealing my bandwidth'. How can I modify my code to get Firefox to behave the same way?
