• Cannot send e-mail with rails 2.3.4(I could with 2.3.2)

  I'm working with ruby on rails 2.3.4 and I yesterday I found out I cannot send emails any more. The email-related credentials are ok because I could send emails until I upgraded my rails version about two weeks ago. • Authenticating a user for a single app with multiple domains

  I have one asp.net web application, but two different domains point to this web app. For instance: www.one.com and www.two.com both point to the same web app. I have an issue where I need certain pages to be on a specific domain (due to some security requirements from our online payment provider - a third party website). So let's say page1.aspx needs to be called on www.two.com The process is as follows: A user logs into www.one.com The authentication cookie is saved to the browser The user then navigates to page1.aspx and, if on the wrong domain, gets redirected to the correct domain. (this redirection happens on page1.aspx in the page_load event) Then asp.net redirects the user to the login screen, because the authentication cookie is not sent to www.two.com. How can I track the user and keep him/her logged in between the two domains?

  Hi, I'm working on a wordpress site, with a blog post that ends like: http://www.blog.com/?p=2. However, I need to change the wordpress settings so that posts end in the following format: http://www.blog.com/02/11/2009/this-is-a-post. When I do this, obviously it will break outside links to the post that is named http://www.blog.com/?p=2. So my question is how can I manaully redirect a url http://www.blog.com/?p=2 to go to a working url http://www.blog.com/02/11/2009/this-is-a-post ? Thanks.

• Redirect issues

  Whoever wrote the navigation for the site I’m currently working on (classic asp) points the navigation links to a folder, then inside to folder has an index.asp file, so the urls will look something like this www.mysite.com/myfolder/mysubfolder Now, when watch the page load using httpfox, I notice that the first entry is a 302 redirect to the same address with a “/” on the end, so www.mysite.com/myfolder gets redirected to www.mysite.com/myfolder/ (note the / on the end). I’m not to worried that it’s a 302 since its in the admin section of the site, but when I forward the host headers from ISA server, for an https request, its being redirected from https://www.mysite.com/myfolder to http://www.mysite.com:443/myfolder/ and causing all kinds of problems. Anyway, I can’t seem to find any code making this redirect happen, so does IIS 6 do this because the url points to a folder? Or do I need to comb through the code more closely?

• Fake ISAPI Handler to serve static files with extention that are rewritted by url rewriter

  Introduction I often map html extention to the asp.net dll in order to use url rewritter with .html extentions. Recently, in the new version of www.nouvelair.ca, we renamed all urls to end with .html. This works great, but failed when we used FCK Editor. Static html files would not get serve because we mapped the html extension to the .NET Framework. We can we do to to use .html extension with our rewritter but still want to use IIS behavior with static html files. Analysis I thought that this could be resolve with a simple HTTP handler. We would map urls of static files in our rewriter to this handler that would read the static file and serve it, just as IIS would do. Implementation This is how I coded the class. Note that this may not be bullet proof. I only tested it once and I am sure that the logic behind IIS is more complicated that this. If you find errors or think of possible improvements, let me know. • Speed up SQL Server queries with PREFETCH

  Problem The SAN data volume has a throughput capacity of 400MB/sec; however my query is still running slow and it is waiting on I/O (PAGEIOLATCH_SH). Windows Performance Monitor shows data volume speed of 4MB/sec. Where is the problem and how can I find the problem? Solution This is another summary of a great article published by R. Meyyappan at www.sqlworkshops.com.  In my opinion, this is the first article that highlights and explains with working examples how PREFETCH determines the performance of a Nested Loop join.  First of all, I just want to recall that Prefetch is a mechanism with which SQL Server can fire up many I/O requests in parallel for a Nested Loop join. When SQL Server executes a Nested Loop join, it may or may not enable Prefetch accordingly to the number of rows in the outer table. If the number of rows in the outer table is greater than 25 then SQL will enable and use Prefetch to speed up query performance, but it will not if it is less than 25 rows. In this section we are going to see different scenarios where prefetch is automatically enabled or disabled. These examples only use two tables RegionalOrder and Orders.  If you want to create the sample tables and sample data, please visit this site www.sqlworkshops.com. The breakdown of the data in the RegionalOrders table is shown below and the Orders table contains about 6 million rows. In this first example, I am creating a stored procedure against two tables and then execute the stored procedure.  Before running the stored proceudre, I am going to include the actual execution plan. --Example provided by www.sqlworkshops.com --Create procedure that pulls orders based on City --Do not forget to include the actual execution plan CREATE PROC RegionalOrdersProc @City CHAR(20) AS BEGIN DECLARE @OrderID INT, @OrderDetails CHAR(200) SELECT @OrderID = o.OrderID, @OrderDetails = o.OrderDetails       FROM RegionalOrders ao INNER JOIN Orders o ON (o.OrderID = ao.OrderID)       WHERE City = @City END GO SET STATISTICS time ON GO --Example provided by www.sqlworkshops.com --Execute the procedure with parameter SmallCity1 EXEC RegionalOrdersProc 'SmallCity1' GO After running the stored procedure, if we right click on the Clustered Index Scan and click Properties we can see the Estimated Numbers of Rows is 24.    If we right click on Nested Loops and click Properties we do not see Prefetch, because it is disabled. This behavior was expected, because the number of rows containing the value ‘SmallCity1’ in the outer table is less than 25.   Now, if I run the same procedure with parameter ‘BigCity’ will Prefetch be enabled? --Example provided by www.sqlworkshops.com --Execute the procedure with parameter BigCity --We are using cached plan EXEC RegionalOrdersProc 'BigCity' GO As we can see from the below screenshot, prefetch is not enabled and the query takes around 7 seconds to execute. This is because the query used the cached plan from ‘SmallCity1’ that had prefetch disabled. Please note that even if we have 999 rows for ‘BigCity’ the Estimated Numbers of Rows is still 24.   Finally, let’s clear the procedure cache to trigger a new optimization and execute the procedure again. DBCC freeproccache GO EXEC RegionalOrdersProc 'BigCity' GO This time, our procedure runs under a second, Prefetch is enabled and the Estimated Number of Rows is 999.   The RegionalOrdersProc can be optimized by using the below example where we are using an optimizer hint. I have also shown some other hints that could be used as well. --Example provided by www.sqlworkshops.com --You can fix the issue by using any of the following --hints --Create procedure that pulls orders based on City DROP PROC RegionalOrdersProc GO CREATE PROC RegionalOrdersProc @City CHAR(20) AS BEGIN DECLARE @OrderID INT, @OrderDetails CHAR(200) SELECT @OrderID = o.OrderID, @OrderDetails = o.OrderDetails       FROM RegionalOrders ao INNER JOIN Orders o ON (o.OrderID = ao.OrderID)       WHERE City = @City       --Hinting optimizer to use SmallCity2 for estimation       OPTION (optimize FOR (@City = 'SmallCity2'))       --Hinting optimizer to estimate for the currnet parameters       --option (recompile)       --Hinting optimize not to use histogram rather       --density for estimation (average of all 3 cities)       --option (optimize for (@City UNKNOWN))       --option (optimize for UNKNOWN) END GO Conclusion, this tip was mainly aimed at illustrating how Prefetch can speed up query execution and how the different number of rows can trigger this.

• RewriteRule not working for certain URLs

  There are a few domains pointing towards the same server, and of course I need them all redirect to only one of them. Redirects work, but only for certain URLs. What works: http://www.domain.com, http://domain.com, domain.com/index.html, domain.com/index.php, , domain.com/nonExistentDirectory, and if I click in the menu the following URLs are also redirected correctly: domain.com/foo/bar, domain.com/foo/bar.html or .php or other extension. What doesn't work: domain.com/existentDirectory, domain.com/foo/bar (if I type the URL in the address bar). If anyone will have the time and skill and will to tell me where's the mistake, I'll be deeply grateful.   Hi, i'm creating a very simple (hello World quality) web application using spring mvc 3.0. when deploying the application on tomcat 6.0.26 and i try to open http://localhost:8080/protoweb/helloWorld.html i get 404, resource /protoweb/WEB-INF/jsp/helloWorld.jsp is not available.   Hi there, I have set up my EC2 infrastructure behind an ELB instance and by using the ELBs DNS name everything works as expected. Now i wanted to forward a subdomain of my main project domain to the ELBs DNS Name with a CNAME entry. I did this about 12 hours ago and it doesnt seem to work, and i dont know why. The subdomain just cant be resolved. I get "** server can't find beta.domain.com: NXDOMAIN" What am i doing wrong ? Do i need to wait longer ? When i use the ELB DNS name directly everything works as expected. When i do an NSlookup on my providers DNS Server, the CNAME gets resolved, but it looks like any other DNS server cant find the subdomain thanks in advance

I need to do this configuration in the next few hours, and don't have time right now understand everything about rewrites, regular expressions and such. I really think you can help me, if I had more reputation I would even set up a bounty... :( In fact, I believe that what I need is simple: I have a .com domain. The main url of my website is going to be http:// www.mainurl.com/. I have two other domains: mainurl.net and mainurl.org. What I need (in isapi-rewrite 2, the config made with httpd.ini file in root file) is: everytime someone writes mainurl.net in browser it becomes http:// www.mainurl.com/ 301 redirect. If it's written without www becomes http:// www.mainurl.com/. If someone writes mainurl.net/about it becomes http:// www.mainurl.com/about/.   I'm creating class library with some commonly used classes like persons, addresses etc. This library will be used in an multilingual application, and I am looking for the most convenient way to represent a persons gender. Ideally I would like to be able to code like this: Person person = new Person { Gender = Genders.Male, FirstName = "Nice", LastName = "Dude" } if (person.Gender == Genders.Male) Console.WriteLine("person is Male"); Console.WriteLine(person.Gender); //Should output: Male Console.WriteLine(person.Gender.ToString("da-DK")); //Should output the name of the gender in the language provided List<Gender> genders = Genders.GetAll(); foreach(Gender gender in genders) { Console.WriteLine(gender.ToString()); Console.WriteLine(gender.ToString("da-DK")); } What would you do?   When I am using DomainKeys and DKIM together on a linux system, do I run both of them on the same port?   I have a map in BizTalk 2009 that is converting some data into an XML document to be sent on to another system. The target schema includes some elements with xml:lang attributes. BizTalk generates those as ns1:lang. The target system requires that the prefix xml be used.
