Safe non-tamperable URL component in Perl using symmetric encryption?

OK, I'm probably just having a bad Monday, but I have the following need and I'm seeing lots of partial solutions but I'm sure I'm not the first person to need this, so I'm wondering if I'm missing the obvious. $client has 50 to 500 bytes worth of binary data that must be inserted into the middle of a URL and roundtrip to their customer's browser. Since it's part of the URL, we're up against the 1K "theoretical" limit of a GET URL. Also, $client doesn't want their customer decoding the data, or tampering with it without detection. $client would also prefer not to store anything server-side, so this must be completely standalone. Must be Perl code, and fast, in both encoding and decoding. I think the last step can be base64. But what are the steps for encryption and hashing that make the most sense?

DROP TABLE fails for temp table

I have a client application that creates a temp table, the performs a bulk insert into the temp table, then executes some SQL using the table before deleting it. Pseudo-code: open connection begin transaction CREATE TABLE #Temp ([Id] AS int) bulk insert 500 rows into #Temp UPDATE [OtherTable] SET [Status]=0 WHERE [Id] IN (SELECT [Id] FROM #Temp) AND [Group]=1 DELETE FROM #Temp WHERE [Id] IN (SELECT [Id] FROM [OtherTable] WHERE [Group]=1) INSERT INTO [OtherTable] ([Group], [Id]) SELECT 1 as [Group], [DocIden] FROM #Temp DROP TABLE #Temp COMMIT TRANSACTION CLOSE CONNECTION This is failing with an error on the DROP statement: Cannot drop the table '#Temp', because it does not exist or you do not have permission. I can't imagine how this failure could occur without something else going on first, but I don't see any other failures occurring before this. Is there anything that I'm missing that could be causing this to happen?

select time (HH:MM:SS.mmm) in javascript

I would like the user to select the time in javascript and to avoid selecting the wrong time. How should i do it? Is there some kind of javascript or jquery widget? or should i show the format and allow users to write it in (and i guess check it with regex)? i think these should be valid 1 (1s) 1:5 (1m 5s) 1.5 (1s, 500 milliseconds. not to be confused by the above) 1:2:02 (1h, 2m, 2 seconds) 1:2:2 (1h, 2m, 2 seconds) 1:2:20 (1h, 2m, 20 seconds) I dont want the user to be confused. How can i avoid this?

Panel visible=true has no effect

I have a Panel that I'm setting visible=true explicitly. The debugger passes over that line and visible still evaluates to False on the next line. Obviously as a result, the Panel is not shown. I know quite well that I/O wait has been discussed multiple times on this site, but all the other topics seem to cover constant I/O latency, while the I/O problem we need to solve on our server occurs at irregular (short) intervals, but is ever-present with massive spikes of up to 20k ms a-wait and service times of 2 seconds. The disk affected is /dev/sdb (Seagate Barracuda, for details see below). Therefore, we did a sync and then this to flush the cache and buffers: echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches and directly afterwards the I/O wait and service times virtually went through the roof, and everything on the machine felt like slow motion. During the next few hours the latency recovered and everything was as before - small to medium lags in short, unpredictable intervals. Now my question is: does anybody have any idea what might cause this annoying behaviour? Is it the first indication of the disk array or the raid controller dying, or something that can be easily mended by rebooting? (At the moment we're very reluctant to do this, however, because we're afraid that the disks might not come back up again.) Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Chris. Edited to add: we do see one or two processes go to 'D' state in top, one of which seems to be kjournald rather frequently. If I'm not mistaken, however, this does not indicate the processes causing the latency, but rather those affected by it - correct me if I'm wrong. Why 2 GB memory limit when running in 64 bit Windows ?

I'm a member in a team that develop a Delphi application. The memory requirements are huge. 500 MB is normal but in some cases it got out of memory exception. The memory allocated in that cases is typically between 1000 - 1700 MB. We of course want 64-bits compiler but that won't happen now (and if it happens we also must convert to unicode, but that is another story...). My question is why is there a 2 GB memory limit per process when running in a 64 bit environment. The pointer is 32 bit so I think 4 GB would be the right limit. I use Delphi 2007.

Android Unable to launch the Inbox from a notification

Rotating text in postscript

For some reason when I output text with a rotation of 0 degrees, all other text that comes after that will not work, I can't seem to figure out why this is the case. In the example above, 'text1' and 'text2' will display, but not 3 and 4.

Bloomberg APIv3 returning Slow Consumer Warnings!

I made a program in c# based on the example "SubscriptionWithEventHandlerExample" of API 3.2.9.0. After subscribing to about 500 securities for realtime data, I receive some ADMIN event warnings claiming SlowConsumerWarning and SlowConsumerWarningCleared. I read somewhere that it introduces some delay, until I process all events. The problem is that in my code I only receive callbacks from bloomberg. The event queue isn´t even in my program! Some things that I tried: 1) raise the queue limit, setting MaxEventQueueSize in the session options (seems to have no effect) 2) see if I get any timeout event (no, I don't get any) 3) create multiple sessions and subscribing 50 securities in each (now I get multiple warnings, one for each thread) Is there something that I can do or this behavior is out of my scope?

WinForm Text Control that displays current character/character limit

I need a way to display, like you see in some web apps, the current characters/character limit for a Text Control(i.e. 3/500). I usually see this as a label residing directly above or below the Text Control. How is this 'normally' accomplished? Should I override my Text Control somehow? Do I just manually add labels by every Text Control and 'bind' them to properties of the Text Control? Do I need to create a composite control that has the Text Control & Label Controls together to accomplish what I need? Any direction or help will be greatly appreciated.

How do i make my text wrap in a <div> with a large border radius

In webkit browsers(i tested both chrome and safari) the overflow hidden cuts the text outside the border. Firefox just renders text outside the border. I also tried this without overflow:hidden; but again the text just rendered outside the border.

a loading screen for a c# wpf listbox

I'm using a list box where there are on average about 500 thumbnails (items) that can be sorted and searched. Since I'm using default databinding and search descriptors (which I've heard are slow due to reflection) the list takes a noticeable pause of a few seconds loading, sorting, and searching (the list dynamically updates based on the contents of the search box so the first one or two letters typed are really slow). I don't think I can fully do away with reflection give the timeframe for the project, and speed isn't super essential, but I'd like some kind of graphical indication of the delay so it doesn't confuse the user. How could I do something like a website video loading screen where the listbox grays out and some kind of loading circle indicates it's processing until the list is ready? Or even just grayed out with the words "Loading..." for a few seconds could work. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions!!!

PHP won't let page update automatically every day/6 hours

A friend build a ranking system on his site and I am trying to host in on mine via wordpress and godaddy. It updates for him but when I load it to my site, it works for 6 hours, but as soon as the reload is supposed to occur, it errors and I get a 500 timeout error. Get http status in Qt WebKit

Bulkinsert from CSV into db (C#) -> max number of rows in a web application?

Web application - C#, .Net, SQL 2k5. I recently used bulkinsert on an other application and I thought I would like to give it a try. I am going to receive a CSV file with 1000 rows, which will most likely add 500 000 (that is five hundred thousand) records in the database. I don't have any idea yet about this huge amount if it's going to work out well. I am afraid that it will time out. I didn't do any testing yet, but I am pretty sure it would time out eventually. Is there a way to make it not time out (I don't know ... split the bulkinsert into 1000 pieces :D) or I should try to do something like BCP, with a SQL job ...

jQuery drag drop slower for more DIV items

Hi there, I have got a hierarchichal tags (with parent child relationship) in my page and it will account to 500 - 4500 (can even grow). When i bound the draggable and droppable for all i saw very bad performance in IE7 and IE6. The custom helper wont move smoothly and was very very slow. Based on some other post i have made the droppable been bound/unbound on mouseover and mouseout events (dynamically). Its better now. But still i dont see the custom helper move very smoothly there is a gap between the mouse cursor and the helper when they move and gets very bad when i access the site from remote. Please help me to address this performance issue. Am totally stuck here.. :(

Hi, I have a fairly basic SQL Server Reporting Services report that is using nested row groups. Each sub-group depends on expanding its parent to be visible which is all pretty standard. Setting image DPI in relation to height/width C#

Hi, I'm writing an application to send some images to a third party, and the images must be 200x200 DPI. The image is a Bitmap and is sized at 500 width and 250 height. The first time I tested the images with the third party, my resolution was incorrect. I merely used image.SetResolution(200,200) to correctly set it to 200x200. This, however, only changed the resolution tag for the image and did not properly, according to my third party technical contact, adjust the image height and width. Is there a ratio that I can use so that for each X units I increment the resolution, I merely increment the corresponding height or width Y units? I thought that I could just increment resolution without having to increment height or width. Thank you, Aaron.

Webservice won't accept JSON requests

Hi, The main issue is that I cannot run a webservice that accepts requests in JSON format. I keep getting a 500 Server error stating that the "request format is invalid." My ASP.NET AJAX extensions are installed. My server is running Plesk Control Panel 8.6 which is undoubtedly causing these problems. The default handler for this specified extension is shown in the web.config like so: For my applications webservice to handle JSON it needs to have this reference: <add name="ScriptHandlerFactory" verb="*" path="*.asmx" preCondition="integratedMode" type="System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptHandlerFactory, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/> Plesk is not allowing the request to be handled properly. I need to know the correct http directive(s) to put into the web.config to properly handle JSON webservices. I tried posting to the Plesk forum two days ago but no response yet. Any insight would be great =)

Using Cepstrum for PDA

Hey, I am currently deleveloping a algorithm to decide wheather or not a frame is voiced or unvoiced. I am trying to use the Cepstrum to discriminate between these two situations. I use MATLAB for my implementation. I have some problems, saying something generally about the frame, but my currently implementation looks like (I'm award of the MATLAB has the function rceps, but this haven't worked for either): ceps = abs(ifft(log10(abs(fft(frame.*window')).^2+eps))); Can anybody give me a small demo, that will convert the frame to the power cepstrum, so a single lollipop at the pitch frequency. jQuery animation callback not working
