• clientaccesspolicy.xml not being requested via HTTPS

  I have a silverlight app that has been using http to communicate w/self-hosted WCF services during development. I am now securing the services via https. I am getting an error I had back at the beginning of the project: "An error occurred while trying to make a request to URI 'https://localhost:8303/service'. This could be due to attempting to access a service in a cross-domain way without a proper cross-domain policy in place, or a policy that is unsuitable for SOAP services. You may need to contact the owner of the service to publish a cross-domain policy file and to ensure it allows SOAP-related HTTP headers to be sent. This error may also be caused by using internal types in the web service proxy without using the InternalsVisibleToAttribute attribute. Please see the inner exception for more details." My clientaccesspolicy.xml file is setup to allow access from http://* and https://*. The only difference is using http vs https. The issue is I can usually see (via Fiddler) the clientaccesspolicy.xml file being requested, but now I cannot. I'm assuming it is failing because of this. Any ideas?

• N-Tier Architecture - Structure with multiple projects in VB.NET

  I would like some advice on the best approach to use in the following situation... I will have a Windows Application and a Web Application (presentation layers), these will both access a common business layer. The business layer will look at a configuration file to find the name of the dll (data layer) which it will create a reference to at runtime (is this the best approach?). The reason for creating the reference at runtime to the data access layer is because the application will interface with a different 3rd party accounting system depending on what the client is using. So I would have a separate data access layer to support each accounting system. These could be separate setup projects, each client would use one or the other, they wouldn't need to switch between the two. Projects: MyCompany.Common.dll - Contains interfaces, all other projects have a reference to this one. MyCompany.Windows.dll - Windows Forms Project, references MyCompany.Business.dll MyCompany.Web.dll - Website project, references MyCompany.Business.dll MyCompany.Busniess.dll - Business Layer, references MyCompany.Data.* (at runtime) MyCompany.Data.AccountingSys1.dll - Data layer for accounting system 1 MyCompany.Data.AccountingSys2.dll - Data layer for accounting system 2 The project MyCompany.Common.dll would contain all the interfaces, each other project would have a reference to this one. • WCF configuration and ISA Proxies

  Hi, I have a setup with a .NET WCF Service hosted on IIS. The client apps are connecting to the service through a set of ISA proxy's. I don't know how many and don't know about their configuration etc. In the client apps I open a client to the service and make several calls via the same client. It works great in my office, but when I deploy at the customer (using the ISAs), after some calls, the connection breaks. In a successfull case, the client will maximum live a few seconds, but is that too much? I think there might be several proxyes. Maybe it's using load ballancing. pseudo code is something like this: WcfClient myClient = new WcfClient(); foreach (WorkItem Item in WorkItemsStack) myClient.ProcessItem(Item); myClient.Close(); I am thinking whether I have to do something like this foreach (WorkItem Item in WorkItemsStack) { WcfClient myClient = new WcfClient(); myClient.ProcessItem(Item); myClient.Close(); } Any one with experience with this field? • Passenger: "Missing these required gems redgreen"

  Hello, total ruby newbie, trying to setup a Rails/MongoDB application on Mac OS X Snow leopard. Installed Ruby 1.9.1 and RubyGems 1.3.7, which ruby and which gem point to the same directory. I'm using the Snow Leopard built-in apache and Passenger 2.2.11. I'm using the rails template from the mongo-site which seems to work okay overall. The exact error that passenger gives me is: /Users/User/Sites/feuerapp/vendor/rails/railties/lib/rails/gem_dependency.rb:119:Warning: Gem::Dependency#version_requirements is deprecated and will be removed on or after August 2010. Use #requirement **Notice: C extension not loaded. This is required for optimum MongoDB Ruby driver performance. You can install the extension as follows: gem install bson_ext If you continue to receive this message after installing, make sure that the bson_ext gem is in your load path and that the bson_ext and mongo gems are of the same version.   I'm struggling to get my head around how to accommodate a mocked repository's method that only accepts a Linq expression as its argument. • How to implement reject in parallel approval workflow?

  I develop a SharePoint workflow with a Replicator activity to replicate a custom activity for every approver. The custom activity implements an approval branch for a particular user. It has classic form with CreateTask, While, OnTaskChanged and CompleteTask activities. I setup UntilCondition on the replicator to cancel execution after one approver chooses to reject the approval and then workflow finishes. The problem happens with other uncompleted tasks which "hang" in their current state. User does not see this state when open the task. I put UpdateAllTasks after the replacator to set the task status to Cancelled. But since there is no event activities between CompleteTask (for the rejected task) and UpdateAllTasks, the UpdateAllTask activity set Cancelled for the rejected task also. The question, what can I do to flush the pending change made by CompleteTask before UpdateAllTasks? Or perhaps, there is another way to implement such workflow. I was thinking about the way to implement Cancel handler for the custom activity with UpdateTask. But I do not know how to implement it and tell to the cancel handler that it executes in the case of the rejection.

• JAXB: How to avoid repeated namespace definition for xmlns:xsi

  I have a JAXB setup where I use a @XmlJavaTypeAdapter to replace objects of type Person with objects of type PersonRef that only contains the person's UUID. This works perfectly fine. However, the generated XML redeclares the same namespace (xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance") every time it's used. While this is generally okay, it just doesn't feel right. How can I configure JAXB to declare xmlns:xsi at the very beginning of the document? Can I manually add namespace declarations to the root element? • How do I correctly install dulwich to get hg-git working on Windows?

  I'm trying to use the hg-git Mercurial extension on Windows (Windows 7 64-bit, to be specific). I have Mercurial and Git installed. I have Python 2.5 (32-bit) installed. I followed the instructions on http://hg-git.github.com/ to install the extension. The initial easy_install failed because it was unable to compile dulwich without Visual Studio 2003. I installed dulwich manually by: git clone git://git.samba.org/jelmer/dulwich.git cd dulwich c:\Python25\python setup.py --pure install Now when I run easy_install hg-git, it succeeds (since the dulwich dependency is satisfied). In my C:\Users\username\Mercurial.ini, I have: [extensions] hgext.bookmarks = hggit = When I type 'hg' at a command prompt, I see: "* failed to import extension hggit: No module named hggit" Looking under my c:\Python25 folder, the only reference to hggit I see is Lib\site-packages\hg_git-0.2.1-py2.5.egg. Is this supposed to be extracted somewhere, or should it work as-is? Since that failed, I attempted the "more involved" instructions from the hg-git page that suggested cloning git://github.com/schacon/hg-git.git and referencing the path in my Mercurial configuration. I cloned the repo, and changed my extensions file to look like: [extensions] hgext.bookmarks = hggit = c:\code\hg-git\hggit Now when I run hg, I see: * failed to import extension hggit from c:\code\hg-git\hggit: No module named dulwich.errors. Ok, so that tells me that it is finding hggit now, because I can see in hg-git\hggit\git_handler.py that it calls from dulwich.errors import HangupException That makes me think dulwich is not installed correctly, or not in the path. Update: From Python command line: import dulwich yields Import Error: No module named dulwich However, under C:\Python25\Lib\site-packages, I do have a dulwich-0.5.0-py2.5.egg folder which appears to be populated. This was created by the steps mentioned above. Is there an additional step I need to take to make it part of the Python "path"?

• Source Control - XCode - Visual Studio 2005/2008 / 2010

  My apologies if this has been asked before, I wasnt quite sure if this question should be asked on a programming forum, as it more relates to programming environment than a particular technology, so please accept my (double) appologies if I am posting this in the wrong place, my logic in this case was if it effects the code I write, then this is the place for it. At home, I do a lot of my development on a Mac Pro, I do development for the Mac, iPhone and Windows on this machine (Xcode & Visual Studio - (multiple versions installed in bootcamp, but generally I run it via Parallels)). When visiting a client, I have a similar setup, but on my MacBook Pro. What I want is a source control solution to install on the Mac Pro, that will support both XCode and multiple versions of visual studio, so that when I visit a client, I can simply grab the latest copy from source control via the MacBook Pro. Whilst visiting the client, he / she may suggest changes, and minor ones I would tend to make on site, so I need the ability to merge any modified code back into the trunk of the project / solution when I return home. At the moment, I am using no source control at all, and rely on simply coping folders and overwriting them when I return from a client- thats my 'merge'!!! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of a source provider I could use, which would support both Windows and Mac development environments, and is cheap (free would be better).

  Hey all, I tried to install the highcharts-rails plugin from github as specified in the instructions: Installation Get the plugin: script/plugin install git://github.com/loudpixel/highcharts-rails.git Run the rake setup: rake highcharts_rails:install But when I run the script/plugin install... It installs a couple of files only and not all the required files, I presume, because when I run rake highcharts_rails:install I get the following: rake aborted! • Rails apps blew up on mediatemple's (dv) server

  i managed to fix this issue but i wanted to document it here for any others whom might have similar problems. I'm running a mediatemple (dv) rage server. monit started sending me alerts that i was having resource limitations on the server. logged into plesk and the CPU was pinned at 99.9%. Rebooted the server, catastrophe avoided... Not quite - all my rails apps were not loading My Setup ruby 1.8.6 Rails 2.3.5 w/ passenger installed as an apache module. I noticed a defunct ruby process so i killed and rebooted the server but runby continued to come back as defunct. Started trolling thru the apache log and i saw errors irt updating rubygems. i updated to the latest but then continued to get gem errors. Basically, I had to go thru all my apps and update any gems manually, reboot apache, and all was restored. Not really sure the cause of the issue but wanted to note it for posterity. Anybody else in the community ever have similar issues???

• Spring-hibernate mapping problem

  I have a spring-hibernate application which is failing to map an object properly: basically I have 2 domain objects, a Post and a User. The semantics are that every Post has 1 corresponding User. The Post domain object looks roughly as follows: class Post { private int pId; private String attribute; ... private User user; //getters and setters here } As you can see, Post contains a reference to User. When I load a Post object, I want to corresponding User object to be loaded (lazily - only when its needed). My mapping looks as follows: <class name="com...Post" table="post"> <id name="pId" column="PostId" /> <property name="attribute" column="Attribute" type="java.lang.String" /> <one-to-one name="User" fetch="join" class="com...User"></one-to-one> </class> And of course I have a basic mapping for User set up. As far as my table schema is concerned, I have a table called post with a foreign UserId which links to the user table. I thought this setup should work, BUT when I load a page that forces the lazy loading of the User object, I notice the following Hiberate query being generated: Select ... from post this_ left outer join user user2_ on this.PostId=user2_.UserId ... Obviously this is wrong: it should be joining UserId from post with UserId from user, but instead its incorrectly joining PostId from post (its primary key) with UserId from user. Any ideas? Thanks!

• Asp.net MVC 2, MvcContrib, and a base controller with redirect actions

  I've got a base controller that takes a couple generics, nothing overly fancy. public class SystemBaseController<TForm, TFormViewModel> : Controller where TForm : class, IForm where TFormViewModel : class, IViewModel ok, no big deal. I have a method "CompleteForm" that takes in the viewModel, looks kinda like this ... public ActionResult CompleteForm(TFormViewModel viewModel) { //does some stuff return this.RedirectToAction(c => c.FormInfo(viewModel)); } Problem is, the controller that inherits this, like so public class SalesFormController : SystemBaseController<SalesForm, SalesViewModel> { } I end up getting a error from MvcContrib - Controller name must end in 'Controller' at this point ... public RedirectToRouteResult(Expression<Action<T>> expression) : this(expression, expr => Microsoft.Web.Mvc.Internal.ExpressionHelper.GetRouteValuesFromExpression(expr)) {} The expression that's passed in is correct (SystemBaseController blahblah) but I'm not sure why its 1.) saying there's no controller at the end, and 2.) if I pull out everything into the controller (out of the base), works just fine. Do I need to write or setup some kind of action filter of my own or what am I missing?

• what is this internet explorer (javascript?) syntax error -2146827286?

  Hi everyone, So, I've been trying to troubleshoot this bug where some big percentage of windows users who are on my ajax (jquery) web app are not able to play. I haven't been able to reproduce it on my end with a windows 7 IE8 running in a parallels vm. The main problem seems to be in the javascript somewhere because what users are complaining about is an ajax button isn't working. They click it and nothing happens, so either the event isn't firing, or my ajax call is failing, and possibly the return from the ajax could be failing. After trying some ideas, a friend suggested I check out damnit! https://damnit.jupiterit.com/ which will catch exceptions in javascript and email them to you. This is a pretty awesome tool! So, now i have a little more data, but, am stuck. Basically it seems like the majority of the exceptions seem to be complaining about a syntax error. I will paste the samples below. message: Syntax error number: -2146827286 description: Syntax error Browser: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; InfoPath.2; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; OfficeLiveConnector.1.3; OfficeLivePatch.0.0) What's interesting is that the syntax error is consistently occurring in browsers reporting MSIE 8.0 but with windows vista, xp, and below, so older OS with the latest IE. Does anyone know of this error? Could this possibly be some weird slow computer/slow internet connection thing where may be my javascript files aren't fully loaded before I call the functions. I am using the jquery $(document).ready() to wait before I setup anything.

• How to edit files directly on webdav in windows.

  I have a webDAV setup with the cPanel webdisk. I can connect to it through NetHood and I can drag and drop files to/from there. What I can't do is simply edit any of the files directly. I need to copy it somewhere else, edit it, then copy it back. That's essentially what is needed with ftp, though smart clients will monitor the file, making it easier than webDAV in the current state I'm using it in. I was under the impression that webdav was supposed to let me work on the files as if it were a local drive. But nothing can actually open the files. How can I go about bringing more functionality around to it? Or is this as good as it gets? I have tried 'net use q:\ https://myserver.com:2083' and 'net use q:\ '\myserver.com@SSL:2083\' but neither work and only throws: "System error 67 has occurred. The network name cannot be found." I ultimately want to use TortiseSVN with the webDAV so I can have my working copy running on the server.

But its not working with the dll file created using setup_VI.py I have created dll file using python setup_VI.py py2exe and then tried to register it using regsvr32 test_icon_overlay.dll. Registration fails with windows error message Error 0x80040201 while registering shell extension. Then I turned on logger in Python27/Lib/site-packages/py2exe/boot_com_servers.py and here is the traceback which I am getting in comerror.txt on regsvr32 test_icon_overlay.dll PATH is ['C:\\root\\avalon\\module\\sync\\python\\src\\dist\\library.zip'] Traceback (most recent call last): File "boot_com_servers.py", line 37, in <module> pywintypes.error: (126, 'GetModuleFileName', 'The specified module could not be found.') Traceback (most recent call last): File "<string>", line 1, in <module> NameError: name 'DllRegisterServer' is not defined Looks like there might be a problem with win32api.GetModuleFileName(sys.frozendllhandle) or with the dll build on 64-bit Windows 7. Also, I saw that installation of pywin32-214.win-amd64-py2.7 on 64-bit Windows 7 finish with the error message: Snapshot close failed in file object destructor: sys.excepthook is missing lost sys.stderr Is there anything which I am doing wrong? " + this.validator.form()); }, test_empty: function() { }, }); This code returns me the string Does the form validate? true This is a simplified version of my project of course, but the point is that I dont seem to be able to unit test the validation module im developing, since the jQuery validate plugin doesnt seem to work. What am I missing?

• Blackberry MDS simulator - Can't connect to the internet in the simulator.

  I'm trying to do some testing of a website through the Blackberry simulator, while the simulator works fine, I can't get to any sites in the Blackberry Browser. Here is the specific setup I'm using. I'm Windows 7 (64-bit) Home Edition I have the latest (at the time) MDS installation - BlackBerry Email and MDS Services Simulators 4.1.4 Finally, I have the latest (at the time) Blackberry Simulator - BlackBerry Smartphone Simulators 5.0.0 (5.0.0.442) - 9700 I first start the MDS service, it briefly pops up the command-prompt and then closes it. I'm assuming that when it does that, it started the MDS service. Then I open the Blackberry simulator (9700), which opens up fine and loads the Blackberry OS. Then with the Blackberry OS all loaded up, I navigate to the browser and for example type www.google.com and then at the bottom it just says "sending request" and loads for about a minute. Then times out and says it can't find a connection. Anyone have any thoughts on what I'm missing? Or, does anyone know of an online simulator for the Blackberry, because thus far this has been a huge pain for testing sites on a Blackberry. Thank you! Ben

• Bazaar + CruiseControl.Net

  I want to setup CruiseControl.Net at my company. We currently have several .net solutions stored in a Bazaar repository and I want to use MSBuild to build each solution. This didn't seem too controversial, but I can't see an easy way of binding CruiseControl.Net to Bazaar. There seems to have been a plugin to do this at http://www.sorn.net/projects/bazaar-ccnet but this link no longer works and I cant seem to find the plugin anywhere else I was going to use the External source control type, but bazaar seems to bork at the GETMODS parameter being passed to it My current thought now is to create a separate project to pull modifications from bazaar using an Exec task, then create another project to run a FileSystem source control check on that directory. I'm moderately sure I can get this to work, but it seems a bit hacky. I don't mind writing a new Bazaar plugin for CruiseControl.Net but I cant find where to start with this. My questions are do you run these two in combination, if so how do you do it? If you don't run these together, do you have any recommendations on a good approach? Is there any documentation or good starting point that I could use to write a bazaar plugin? Am I an idiot for trying to use CruiseControl.Net? Should I be using something else?

• Cannot delete an image file that is shown in a listview

  Hello all, In my listview I show thumbnails of small images in a certain folder. I setup the listview as follows: var imageList = new ImageList(); foreach (var fileInfo in dir.GetFiles()) { try { var image = Image.FromFile(fileInfo.FullName); imageList.Images.Add(image); } catch { Console.WriteLine("error"); } } listView.View = View.LargeIcon; imageList.ImageSize = new Size(64, 64); listView.LargeImageList = imageList; for (int j = 0; j < imageList.Images.Count; j++) { var item = new ListViewItem {ImageIndex = j, Text = "blabla"}; listView.Items.Add(item); } The user can rightclick on an image in the listview to remove it. I remove it from the listview and then I want to delete this image from the folder. Now I get the error that the file is in use. Of course this is logical since the imagelist is using the file. I tried to first remove the image from the imagelist, but I keep on having the file lock. Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

• Sending email with attachments from C#, attachments arrive as Part 1.2 in Thunderbird

  I have a C# application which emails out Excel spreadsheet reports via an Exchange 2007 server using SMTP. These arrive fine for Outlook users, but for Thunderbird and Blackberry users the attachments have been renamed as "Part 1.2". I found this article which describes the problem, but doesn't seem to give me a workaround. I don't have control of the Exchange server so can't make changes there. Is there anything I can do on the C# end? I have tried using short filenames and HTML encoding for the body but neither made a difference.
