• Showing Dynamic Content within a Facebook Page

  Hi all, I need to have some content displayed in a Facebook Page (I believe these are also referred to as Business Pages?). However, some of these content will be dynamic. What I mean by that is, some of the content will be taken from an existing web application. I've looked into using Static FBML (which allows us to have tabs in the profile page with FBML in it). These no longer allow iframes. Does work in this instance (as I've not been able to get it to work either). Are there any other tags which can be used for this purpose? In short, is there a way to obtain data from an external source and display those content within a Facebook Page (Tab)? Thank you very much in advance for any light that you can shed on this issue. • How do I delete a foreign key in SQLAlchemy?

  I'm using SQLAlchemy Migrate to keep track of database changes and I'm running into an issue with removing a foreign key. I have two tables, t_new is a new table, and t_exists is an existing table. I need to add t_new, then add a foreign key to t_exists. Then I need to be able to reverse the operation (which is where I'm having trouble). t_new = sa.Table("new", meta.metadata, sa.Column("new_id", sa.types.Integer, primary_key=True) ) t_exists = sa.Table("exists", meta.metadata, sa.Column("exists_id", sa.types.Integer, primary_key=True), sa.Column( "new_id", sa.types.Integer, sa.ForeignKey("new.new_id", onupdate="CASCADE", ondelete="CASCADE"), nullable=False ) ) This works fine: t_new.create() t_exists.c.new_id.create() But this does not: t_exists.c.new_id.drop() t_new.drop() Trying to drop the foreign key column gives an error: 1025, "Error on rename of '.\my_db_name\#sql-1b0_2e6' to '.\my_db_name\exists' (errno: 150)" If I do this with raw SQL, i can remove the foreign key manually then remove the column, but I haven't been able to figure out how to remove the foreign key with SQLAlchemy? How can I remove the foreign key, and then the column?

• android ImageView scaling to fit another View

• Creating multiple MFC dialogs through COM, strange behaviour

  One of our apps has a COM interface which will launch a dialog, e.g: STDMETHODIMP CSomeClass::LaunchDialog(BSTR TextToDisplay) { CDialog *pDlg = new CSomeDialog(TextToDisplay); pDlg->BringWindowToTop(); } For some reason when the COM method is called several times at once by the server, we get odd behaviour: We get multiple dialogs, but only one entry in the taskbar Dialog Z-order is based on order created and can't be changed... the first dialog created is always shown under the 2nd one, 2nd under 3rd, etc, even when you drag them around if N dialogs were created, closing one of them closes it and all the others created afterwards. e.g if 5 dialogsa re created and you close the 3rd one, #3,#4,#5 all get closed. It's somehow like the dialogs are siblings but I don't see anything weird going on. Is it perhaps due to COM, or is this a weird MFC/Win32 issue?

• Windows Server 2003 Hacked - Files Being Uploaded

  Blank directories are being created on my Windows Server 2003 virtual server with sub directories that are weird (for example: "88ÿ ÿ ÿÿþþ þþ13þ"). It looks like they are uploading bootlegged DVDs and pirated software. All of my bandwidth and file space is being eaten up. Could this be a shared permissions issue? Where should I look to further investigate this? My security permissions for the directory that is being hit are as followed: Administrators - ALL GRANTED IIS_WPG - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read Internet Guest - DENY SYSTEM - ALL GRANTED Users - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read My Event Viewer is showing many Logon/Logoff with NO IP?

• Good way to find duplicate files?

  Hello I don't know enough about VB.Net (2008, Express Edition) yet, so I wanted to ask if there were a better way to find files with different names but the same contents, ie. duplicates. In the following code, I use GetFiles() to retrieve all the files in a given directory, and for each file, use MD5 to hash its contents, check if this value already lives in a dictionary: If yes, it's a duplicate and I'll delete it; If not, I add this filename/hashvalue into the dictionary for later: 'Get all files from directory Dim currfile As String For Each currfile In Directory.GetFiles("C:\MyFiles\", "File.*") 'Check if hashing already found as value, ie. duplicate If StoreItem.ContainsValue(ReadFileMD5(currfile)) Then 'Delete duplicate 'This hashing not yet found in dictionary -> add it Else StoreItem.Add(currfile, ReadFileMD5(currfile)) End If Next Is this a good way to solve the issue of finding duplicates, or is there a better way I should know about? • HTML 5 offline caching

  I've read the following Mozilla Developer article that explains how to implement HTML 5 offline resource caching in web apps. I've tried testing this locally: added the mime type to the list, created the manifest file, changed my doctype to the HTML 5 doctype, specified the manifest attribute and the correct path on the HTML element--but still I don't see the manifest file being consumed by Firefox at all. I've also checked the access logs on Apache and didn't see any requests for the manifest file being made. Has anyone given it a jab and had any success? I just don't know how to further troubleshoot the issue and would welcome any suggestions.

• Asp.Net MVC and ajax async callback execution order

  I have been sorting through this issue all day and hope someone can help pinpoint my problem. I have created a "asynchronous progress callback" type functionality in my app using ajax. When I strip the functionality out into a test application I get the desired results. See image below: Desired Functionality When I tie the functionality into my single page application using the same code I get a sort of blocking issue where all requests are responded to only after the last task has completed. In the test app above all request are responded to in order. The server reports a ("pending") state for all requests until the controller method has completed. • Deploying 32 and 64 bit COM objects on 64 bit machine from one VS setup project MSI.

  I have a Shell Namespace Extension C++ COM DLL that must have both a 32 bit and 64 bit version installed on a 64 bit machine, because when 32 bit applications perform a file- open the dialog that is presented is a 32 bit shell. The problem is that both my 32 bit and 64 bit COM objects have the same progid and the VS setup project will throw an error when including two files with the same progid. How do I get around this issue if I want to maintain the same code for both 32 and 64 bit? Currently I just have two different MSI's (32 and 64) and they both must be ran on the 64 bit machine.

When this happens, I would like the chart to tell the user somehow that there are data points three, just outside the range, perhaps by drawing a straight line across the top or bottom of the graph.   In my client program, there is a WCF connection that is opened at startup and supposedly stays connected til shutdown. However, there is a chance that the server closes due to unforeseeable circumstances (imagine someone pulling the cable). Since the client uses a lot of contract methods in a lot of places, I don't want to add a try/catch on every method call. I've got 2 ideas for handling this issue: Create a method that takes a delegate and executes the delegate inside a try/catch and returns an Exception in case of a known exception, or null else. The caller has to deal with nun-null results. Listen to the Faulted event of the underlying CommunicationObject. But I don't see how I could handle the event except for displaying some error message and shutting down. Are there some best practices for faulted WCF connection that exist for app lifetime?

• A very weird problem with texbox control in .net

  Well i know textbox is a very simple user control, perhaps the first input control ever made. I have been facing a very frustrating problem with this simple control. I programatically add a textbox in my user control. From ui i am able to edit it like a normal textbox. however, i am not able to read the user inputed value in the program. my program all the time sees the old value with which my text box was initialized. i textchange event getting triggered but the value never gets updated. This seemingly looks to be some innocuous bug in the code, but the program is very simple and it does not seem to be having any bug. Any guidelines on this issue?

• VS2010 profiler/leak detection

  Anyone know of a profiler and leak detector that will work with VS2010 code? Preferably one that runs on Win7. I've searched here and in google. I've found one leak detector that works (Memory Validator) but I'm not too impressed. For one thing it shows a bunch of menu leaks and stuff which I'm fairly confident are not real. I also tried GlowCode but it's JUST a profiler and refuses to install on win7. I used to use AQtime. It had everything I needed, memory/resource leak detection, profiling various things, static analysis, etc. Unfortunately it gives bogus results now. My main immediate issue is that VS2010 is saying there are leaks in a program that had none in VS2005. I'm almost certain it's false positives but I can't seem to find a good tool to verify this. Memory Validator doesn't show the same ones and the reporting of leaks from VS doesn't seem rational.

• XPath and special characters

  I am having an issue with an XPath query I'm performing for a Sitecore CMS system. This query works fine: /root/content/Meta-Data/Tips/* But when I try this: /root/content/Meta-Data/Tips/*[@SomeAttribute='somekey'] I get an error which says "End of string expected at position 22" which is where the dash character is found. I was under the impression that the dash was not a special character in XML... am I doing something wrong here? Do I need to encode this in some way? Or is this a bug in the XPath parser? Any suggested workarounds?

• IE6 not rendering the page

  I have a web page which consists of a few component pages. When a user requests the page, the server assembles its component pages into the main page and sends it back to the browser. When there is an update on the component page, IE6 browser cannot see the updated content. However, IE7 and Firefox are fine. Checking with Fiddler, the http response returns 200, If-Modified-Since header is the same as the last modified date of the main page, the response raw html also has the updated content. It seems that IE6 browser abandons the rendering of the page because If-Modified-Since is the same as the last modified date of the main page. Does anyone know how to overcome this issue in IE6?

• Wireless Network Disappearing From Available Networks (Windows 7)

  I have been using Windows 7 with a BT Voyager wireless adapter to connect to my home wireless network for around the last 6 months or so and until recently have experienced no problems. However, over the last couple of days Windows has been unable to connect to the network and the network name is no longer visible in the list of available wireless networks. The only way I have got round the problem is to reboot the NetGear router and to change the SSID to a network name which has not already been used. I do not believe the problem is with the router as my mobile phone can connect to it without any problems. The BT Voyager wireless adapter detects all other available networks so I presume this is a Windows 7 issue as it seems to occur when the PC is rebooted. This problen has happened twice in the last 2 days and is becoming extremely annoying. Does anyone have any suggestions?

• VC7.1 C1204 internal compiler error

  I'm working on modifying Firaxis' Civilization 4 core game DLL. The host application is built using VC7, hence the constraint (source not provided for the host EXE). I've been working on rewriting a large chunk of the code (focusing on low-hanging performance issues & memory leaks). I recently ran into an internal compiler error when trying to mod the code to use an array class instead of dynamically allocated 2-d arrays, I was going to use matrices from the boost lib (Civ4 is already using boost, so why not?). Basically, the issue comes down to: if I include "boost/numeric/ublas/matrix.hpp", I run into an internal compiler error C1204. MSDN has this to say: MSDN C1204 KB has this to say: KB 883655 So, I'm curious, is it possible to solve this error without a KB/SP being applied and dramatically reducing the complexity of the code? Additionally, as VC7 is no longer "supported", does anyone have a valid (supported) link for a VC7 service pack?

• Only perform jquery effects/operations on certain pages

  Up until now i've been dropping all my jquery code right inside the document.ready function. I'm thinking that for certain situations this isnt the best way to go. for example: If i want an animation to perform when a certain page loads what is the best way to go about that. $(document).ready(function() { $("#element_1").fadeIn(); $("#element_2").delay('100').fadeIn(); $("#element_3").delay('200').fadeIn(); }); If this is right inside of document.ready then every time ANY page loads it's going to check each line and look for that element. What is the best way to tell jquery to only perform a chunk of code on a certain page to avoid this issue.

• Multiple Socket Connections

  I need to write a server which accepts connections from multiple client machines, maintains track of connected clients and sends individual clients data as necessary. Sometimes, all clients may be contacted at once with the same message, other times, it may be one individual client or a group of clients. Since I need confirmation that the clients received the information and don't want to build an ACK structure for a UDP connection, I decided to use a TCP streaming method. However, I've been struggling to understand how to maintain multiple connections and keep them idle. I seem to have three options. Use a fork for each incoming connection to create a separate child process, use pthread_create to create an entire new thread for each process, or use select() to wait on all open socket IDs for a connection. Recommendations as to how to attack this? I've begun working with pthreads but since performance will likely not be an issue, multicore processing is not necessary and perhaps there is a simpler way.
