• Start all tab's activities for pre-cache

  I have a TabActivity with three tabs defined. The first tab is light-weight and renders in acceptable time. But the 2nd and 3rd tab, does need a couple of seconds to get visually rendered, after I click them. I would like to launch them, after I've loaded my first tab, in background for pre-cache. Once they are loaded, I can switch quickly between them. So I am wondering how can I launch the 2nd and 3rd tab. They are intents loaded in the view area.

• Progress Dialog on open activity

  hey guys, i've a problem with progress dialog on opening an activity (called activity 2 in example). The activity 2 has a lot of code to execute in this OnCreate event. final ProgressDialog myProgressDialog = ProgressDialog.show(MyApp.this,getString(R.string.lstAppWait), getString(R.string.lstAppLoading), true); new Thread() { public void run() { runOnUiThread(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { showApps(); } }); myProgressDialog.dismiss(); } }.start(); The showApps function launch activity 2. if i execute this code on my button click event on activity 1, i see the progress, but she doesn't move and afeter i have a black screen during 2 or 3 seconds the time for android to show the activity. If i execute this code in the OnCreate of Activity2 and if i replace the showApps by the code on OnCreate, Activity1 freeze 2 seconds, i don't see the progress dialog, and freeze again 2 seconds on activity 2 before seeing the result. An idea ?

  I have a SQL database holding a number of numeric and text values that get updated regularly. The exact number/type/names of these data points can change depending on the source of the database writes. I would like to create a user interface editor, where the user can add database points to the UI and arrange them and format them as they want. If a new point is added to the database they can right click on the UI and say "add this point" and choose from a list of database points. I'm looking for some pointers on where to start on creating this editor application, could something clever be done using XAML to dynamically create std WPF controls at runtime?

• Rails - Sending XML or JSON

  I'm new to Rails and trying to send a request to Chargify to cancel a subscription. Their API says I need to send the method DELETE to a xml URL. This isn't a Chargify based question but rather... how would I have a user click a button that then generates this request and sends it within my Rails app? Also it's working fine when I run a command-line test so I know my code works, just now sure how to put it into my Rails app (view/controller). Thanks

• Play/pause HTML 5 video using JQuery

  I am trying to control HTML5 videos using JQuery. I have two clips in a tabbed interface, there are six tabs in total, the others just have images. I am trying to make the video clips play when their tab is clicked and then stop when any of the others are clicked. This must be a simple thing to do but I cant seem to get it to work, the code I am using to play the video is: $('#playMovie1').click(function(){ $('#movie1').play(); }); I have read that the video element needs to be exposed in a function to be able to control it but can't find an example. I am able to make it work using JS: document.getElementById('movie1').play(); Any advice would be great. Thanks

• Tabs.url is undefined

  I have no clue what I'm doing wrong here! This should be working I believe. I'm writing a chrome extension and this should get the current tab's url and set the html of #current-tab to the url (for testing purposes). The code successfully gets to the callback, but it says that tab.url is undefined when I put it in an alert box, and it does not put it's value in #current-tab. The dialog box follows the mouse On click the dialog box "stops" and displays a link What I want to achieve When a table cell is hovered over the title of the dialog box shows the date e.g "Mon 8th Oct 2012" When a table cell is hovered over the html of the dialog box shows the events for that day in list format (there is code that succesfully retrieves the first row in function getSelectedDates() ) function getSelectedDates() needs to be called in the hover event - showing multiple events for that date in the dialog box I hope that if we can display the date being hovered over in the title of the dialog then we can use the same information to retrieve the rows from the database to populate the html of the dialog for that day

I'm just implementing a simple animation moving a div left or up using animate() but I would like to be able to set the "top" and "left" css properties dynamically. I would like to use the same function rather than have to have two, one for "left" and one for "top".   I have created navigation menu in YUI 2.8 as below : I have also animated tabs using CSS transitions. CSS transitions are not widely supported by browsers and my animations are not working in Opera, IE etc. Since i'm already using YUI 2.8 on that page, can somebody tell me how do i animate those tabs? When i click on any tab, it should expand in vertical dimension smoothly (animated). • Datepicker (1.8rc3) not transferring date in IE6

  Using jquery-1.4.2 and jquery-UI 1.8rc3, I instantiated a datepicker on a text input with showOn: 'focus'. The datepicker appears correctly. However when I click on a date, the datepicker doesn't disappear and the dateStr doesn't get transferred to the text input. I tried adding an onClose: handler that calls alert(dateStr). The event fires but no dateStr has been set. Everything works fine in Firefox. I have Microsoft Script Debugger installed but no script errors were detected. I did report this as a potential problem at the jQuery UI forums but my message has been sitting there awaiting moderation for hours and I figured someone here might have a suggestion. $().ready(function() { $(".date").datepicker({ showOn: 'focus', onClose: function(dateText) { alert(dateText); } }); });

• jQuery can't get if statement to work

I'm trying to finalize this horizontal scrolling I have and the last bit is to not just disable scrolling when the end is reached, but to also disable (well, change color) the scroll buttons at that point as well.   I want to add an event handler to some dynamically added elements. I simplified my problem into the basic code below. I am using the new JQuery 1.7 on feature to say "hey for all labels in the CancelSurvey id element call this notify function when they are clicked." function notify(event) { console.log(event.data.name); } $('#CancelSurvey').on('click', 'label', { name: $(this).attr("id") }, notify); I want to pass the id of the label as parameter "name". When I try to alert this it is undefined (they are defined in the html created). I believe that using the $(this) is not referencing the label selector in this case. It actually seems to be referencing the document itself. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

• Vew not updating after scope update

  Here is a very simple example of what I am trying to do Athlete.save(athlete,function(result) { $scope.athlete = result.athlete; }); The issue is that the $scope.athlete variable does not update in my view. In order to get it to update I have to do this Athlete.save(athlete,function(result) { $scope.athlete.fname = result.athlete.fname; $scope.athlete.lname= result.athlete.lname; $scope.athlete.gender= result.athlete.gender; .... }); This gets annoying very quickly. With the first block of code it's as if angular does not know that my $scope.athlete variable has been updated. The problem is that when the mouse goes out of the li a the subcategories div disappears. • Main page content populated on the fly?

  Is there any reason to NOT have a webpage retrieve it's main content on the fly? For example, I have a page that has a header and a footer, and in the middle of this page is an empty div. When you click on one of the buttons in the header, an http GET is done behind the scenes and the .innerHTML() of the empty div is replaced with the result. I can't think of any reason why this might be a bad idea, but I can't seem to find any pages out there that do it? Please advise!
