  • what's the right way to bind sqldatasource to asp:label in asp.net 4.0?

    - by cskilbeck
Is it possible using Eval? If so, can someone post a short fragment to illustrate? My SqlDataSource returns 1 record with 3 fields, I'd like to Format these into a string. eg: Record Field 'Name' = 'Jack' Field 'Amount' = 100 Field 'Date' = 12.02.2010 asp:Label text should end up being: Welcome Jack, last payment was 100 on 12.02.2010 if another control than asp:Label is appropriate, that would be good to know also.

  • html5/css3 framework like BluPrint/960?

    - by mamcx
I'm starting a side project and want to build it with html5/css3. Is not a concern backward compatibility. I wonder if exist a framework similar to BluePrint/960 grid system. Mainly, I'm looking for the grid system & typografy. The best (and only I found that play nice with html5 new tags) is http://lessframework.com/, is a good start but wonder if exist something better?

  • "For money, always decimal" ???

    - by Dryadwoods
Well, the rule "For money, always decimal" isn't applied inside the Microsoft development team, because if it was: Namespace: Microsoft.VisualBasic Assembly: Microsoft.VisualBasic (in Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll) Financial.IPmt and all the other methods would receive/return decimal and not double as it is. Now I wonder if I can use this methods without worry with round mistakes? Should I use some other libraries to work with finances? If yes, could you point me some good ones (for C# use) ? Thank you.

  • What is the best approach for unit testing/integration testing GXT code?

    - by Arizonahockey
I have been tasked to setup a continuous integration environment for a GXT 2.1.1 and GWT 2.0.1 environment. Unfortunately I am new to AJAX and Web Services and have little idea how to setup unit tests in the browser environment. Unit tests for the server backend I already have done, since I am a pro at that. GXT is not quite pure GWT which provides some unit testing structure. If anyone has a good starting point...

    - by Ben
I want to write a function to generate and store the co-ordinates of an n-cube and I have no idea how to start. Specifically, I wish to generate the co-ordinates for an evenly or randomly distributed cloud of points for this n-cube and store them. What would be a good way to start with this or if possible, a quick solution?

  • ASP.NET Dynamic Data Browser Compatibility

    - by Petras
Could any experienced users of Dynamic Data comment on whether there are issues with it in: Internet Explorer 6 Safari Chrome Opera We are looking to use it on a public facing website and good old IE6 has many important users in government departments and large companies so it has to work there. The other browsers could also become an issue.

  • CDN with South America peering points / edge nodes

    - by Bill
Hello, Does anyone one know of a CDN (Content Delivery Network) with true South American peering points or edge nodes? This seems to be quite rare. It seems that most CDNs serve Central and South America from Texas. However, our application requires low latency in Brazil, so this is not a good solution for us. We would like to avoid having to set up servers in South America just for this piece of the application, but may end up doing that. Thanks, Bill

  • Base 62 conversion in Python

    - by mikl
How would you convert an integer to base 62 (like hexadecimal, but with these digits: '0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ'). I have been trying to find a good Python library for it, but they all seems to be occupied with converting strings. The Python base64 module only accepts strings and turns a single digit into four characters. I was looking for something akin to what URL shorteners use.

  • Dynamic dropdown search box

    - by glebm
Are there any gems that would help me make a search box like the one for tags on stackoverflow? (Rails 2.3.5, required IE7 support and graceful no-script fall-back) P.S.: Do these boxes annoy you or do you think it's a good thing to have one?

  • Use OpenOffice to do server-side ppt(x) to swf conversion

    - by Steven Xu
I'd like to turn Powerpoint presentations to SWF files the same way that OpenOffice does it, except automatically through a command line call. I came across http://stackoverflow.com/questions/886144, which led me to explore PyUNO bridge, which comes with OpenOffice as well as the OpenOffice command line API, but I wasn't able to make anything productive of it. Any guidance is appreciated. If there is a good solution outside of OpenOffice, I would be happy to try it too.

  • Spiking neural networks

    - by lmsasu
Hi all, which is the book one should start with in the domain of spiking neural networks? I know about Gerstner's "Spiking Neuron Models", published in 2002. Is there a more recent book, or maybe a more suitable one? I have a background in maths and artificial neural networks. If there are some good articles or overviews in this domain, also add them to the list. Thanks.

  • Edit very large xml files in c#

    - by Matt
Hi I would like to create a text box which loads xml files and let users edit them. However, I cannot use XmlDocument to load since the files can be very large. I am looking for options to stream/load the xml document in chunks so that I do not get out of memory errors -- at the same time, performance is important too. Could you let me know what would be good options? Thanks in advance for your help! Matt
