• Can I clone an IQueryable in linq? For UNION purposes?

  I have a table of WorkOrders. The table has a PrimaryWorker & PrimaryPay field. It also has a SecondaryWorker & SecondaryPay field (which can be null). I wish to run 2 very similar queries & union them so that it will return a Worker Field & Pay field. So if a single WorkOrder record had both the PrimaryWorker and SecondaryWorker field populated I would get 2 records back. The "where clause" part of these 2 queries is very similar and long to construct. Here's a dummy example var q = ctx.WorkOrder.Where(w => w.WorkDate >= StartDt && w.WorkDate <= EndDt); if(showApprovedOnly) { q = q.Where(w => w.IsApproved); } //...more filters applied Now I also have a search flag called "hideZeroPay". If that's true I don't want to include the record if the worker was payed $0. But obviously for 1 query I need to compare the PrimaryPay field and in the other I need to compare the SecondaryPay field. So I'm wondering how to do this. Can I clone my base query "q" and make a primary & secondary worker query out of it and then union those 2 queries together? I'd greatly appreciate an example of how to correctly handle this. The key issues I am fighting with are (1) highlighting comments is not working and (2), the use of regexp-opt lines is not working. • App hosting Report Viewer crashes on exit after export

  We have a .NET Winforms application that hosts the Crystal Reports Viewer control (Version XI). It works well for the most part but when an export of data from the viewer is performed the application will crash on exit and in unmanaged code. The error message is not very useful and just says that an incorrect memory location was accessed. No other info such a specific DLL etc. is provided. This only happens after the viewer is used to export a report to CSV, XML etc. My guess is that at some point in the export process Crystal creates a resource that attempts an action on shut down to a parent window (perhaps) that no longer exists. I've seen a number of memory leak and shut down issues with Crystal but this one's new. Has anyone seen it and come up with a workaround or has ideas for workarounds? So far we've tried explicitly disposing of all crystal-related objects, setting to null and even setting a Thread.Sleep cycle on shut down to "give Crystal time to clean up." Update: The crash happens only on shut down (so not immediate) All export formats work All export files are created properly CR is installed on the same machine as the hosting .NET app not sure about exporting from the IDE... is that even possible?

  I'm looking for a faster way to calculate GC content for DNA strings read in from a FASTA file. This boils down to taking a string and counting the number of times that the letter 'G' or 'C' appears. I also want to specify the range of characters to consider. I have a working function that is fairly slow, and it's causing a bottleneck in my code. • Multiple queries using same datacontext throws SqlException

  I've search control with which I'm trying to implement search as user types something. I'm using Linq to SQL to fire queries against the database. Though it works fine usually, when user types the queries really fast some random SqlException is thrown. Now, I want to access p_11 cache using browser something like http://mytestserve.lan/test_cache.php I have create object with cache factory like above. All the parameters are same as above. However when I try to load cache p_11, i do not variables set from command line. What went wrong?

  I currently have a website source code (no control over the source) which contains certain content that needs to be manipulated. This would be simple on the surface, however there is no unique ID attribute on the tag in question that can uniquely identify it, and therefore allow for further traversal. Here is a snippet of the source code, surrounding the tag in question. ... <td width="100%"> <!--This table snaps the content columns(one or two)--> <table border="0" width="100%"> ... Essentially, the HTML comment stuck out as an easy way to gain access to that element. Using the JQuery comment add-on from this question, and some help from snowlord comment below, I have been able to identify the comment and retrieve the following output using the 'dump' extension. $('td').comments().filter(":contains('This table snaps the content columns(one or two)')").dump(); returns; jQuery Object { 0 = DOMElement [ nodeName: DIV nodeValue: null innerHTML: [ 0 = String: This table snaps the content columns(one or two) ] ] } However I am not sure how to traverse to the sibling element in the DOM. This should be simple, but I haven't had much selector experience with JQuery. Any suggestions are appreciated.

• Logging exceptions to database in NServiceBus

  If an exception occurs in my MessageHandler I want to write the exception details to my database. How do I do this? Obviously, I cant just catch the exception, write to database, and rethrow it since NSB rollbacks all changes. (IsTransactional is set to true) I tried adding logging functionality in a seperate handler, which I caledl using SendLocal if an exception occured, but this does not work: public void Handle(MessageItem message) { try { DoWork(); } catch(Exception exc) { Bus.SendLocal(new ExceptionMessage(exc.Message)); throw; } } I also tried using Log4Net with a custom appender, but this also rolled back. • log4net - why would the same MyLog.Debug line not work at one point of startup, but work at another

  Hi, During startup of my WinForms application I'm noting that there are a couple of points (before the MainForm renders) that do a "MyDataSet.GetInstance()". For the first one the MyLog.Debug line comes through in the VS2008 output window, but for a later one it does work and come through. What could explain this? • FindWindowEx from user32.dll is returning a handle of Zero and error code of 127 using dllimport

  I need to handle another windows application programatically, searching google I found a sample which handles windows calculator using DLLImport Attribute and importing the user32.dll functions into managed ones in C#. The application is running, I am getting the handle for the main window i.e. Calculator itself, but the afterwards code is not working. The FindWindowEx method is not returning the handles of the children of the Calculator like buttons and textbox. I have tried using the SetLastError=True on DLLImport and found that I am getting an error code of 127 which is "Procedure not found". I tried to pull the request url but it is null. I am just starting with nodejs so please be nice.

• EJB and JPA and @OneToMany - Transaction too long?

  Hello. I'm using EJB and JPA, and when I try to access PhoneNumber objects in phoneNumbers attribute of Contact contact, it sometimes take several minutes for it to actually return data. It just returns no phoneNumbers, not even null, and then, after some time, when i call it again, it magically appears. This is how I access data: for (Contact c : contactFacade.findAll()) { System.out.print(c.getName()+" "+c.getSurname()+" : "); for (PhoneNumber pn : c.getPhoneNumbers()) { System.out.print(pn.getNumber()+" ("+pn.getDescription()+"); "); } } I'm using facade session ejb generated by netbeans (basic CRUD methods). It always prints correct name and surname, phonenumbers and description are only printed after some time (it varies) from creating it via facade. I'm guessing it has something to do with transactions. How to solve this? • Avoid MySQL multi-results from SP with Execute

  Hi, i have an SP like BEGIN DECLARE ... CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE tmptbl_found (...); PREPARE find FROM" INSERT INTO tmptbl_found (SELECT userid FROM ( SELECT userid FROM Soul WHERE .?.?. ORDER BY .?.?. ) AS left_tbl LEFT JOIN Contact ON userid = Contact.userid WHERE Contact.userid IS NULL LIMIT ?) "; DECLARE iter CURSOR FOR SELECT userid, ... FROM Soul ...; ... l:LOOP FETCH iter INTO u_id, ...; ... EXECUTE find USING ...,. . .,u_id,...; ... END LOOP; ... END// and it gives multi-results. Besides it's inconvenient, if i get all this multi-results (which i really don't need at all), about 5 (limit's param) for each of the hundreds of thousands of records in Soul, i'm afraid it will take all my memory (and all in vain). Also, i noticed, if i do prepare from an empty string, it still has multi-results... At least how to get rid of them in the execute statement? And i would like to have a recipe to avoid ANY output from SP, for any possible statement (i also have a lot of "update ..."s and "select ... into "s inside, if they can produce multi's). • Facebook Application with PHP running losing session

  Iam trying to build an Facebook Application based on PHP. The Application is running under php on my own Webhost inside an Canvas as iFrame. I have included the newest Client Library for PHP from Facebook: facebook-php-sdk-94fcb13 To Authorize the user inside my application iam trying to use Facebook Connect, like the example shipped with the Client. Everything works fine the 1st Login, but when i hit the F5 Key to reload the page, the session is lost and i have to login again. When i call my application outside of the Facebook Canvas everything is fine. Iam not sure, but i think my Browser (Chrome/FireFox - Ubuntu) is not allowing to store an cookie inside an iFrame. Does someone knows an solution for this Problem? • MySQL default value based on view

  Basically I have a bunch of views based on a simple discriminator column (eg. CREATE VIEW tablename AS SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE discrcolumn = "discriminator value"). Upon inserting a new row into this view, it should insert "discriminator value" into discrcolumn. I tried this, but apparently MySQL doesn't figure this out itself, as it throws an error "Field of view viewname underlying table does not have a default value". The discriminator column is set to NOT NULL of course. How do I mend this? Perhaps a pre-insert trigger? UPDATE: Triggers won't work on views, see below comment. Would it work to create a trigger on the table which uses a variable, and set that variable at establishing the connection? For each connection the value of that variable would be the same, but it could differ from other connections. EDIT: This appears to work...   The task is to create event handlers in runtime. I need the one method to be called with different parameter value for different events. The events and their number are only known in runtime. So I'm trying to generate dynamic methods, each of which will be assigned to some event, but in general they all just pass some value to an instance method and call it. It would be great if something similar could be done the easier way. I mean passing some value at subscribing stage and then obtaining it when the event is triggered.
