• Can't set Visible attribute in ASP.NET Panels

  I am having trouble with visible attribute of an ASP.NET Panel control. I have a page that calls a database table and returns the results in a datagrid. Requirements If some of the returned values are null I need to hide the image that's next to it.   Hi all; i want to use reflection in java, i want to do that third class will read the name of the class as String from console. Upon reading the name of the class, it will automatically and dynamically (!) generate that class and call its writeout method. If that class is not read from input, it will not be initialized. I wrote that codes but i am always taking to "java.lang.Class.Not.Found.Exception", and i don't know how i can fix it.   For a homework assignment, I'm working with the following. It's an assigned class structure, I know it's not the best design by a long shot.   I've been trying this for a while now and could not find anything online... I have a project, where tablerows get added to a table. Works fine. Now I want to save the Table in the localStorage, so I can load it again. • Recursion in prepared statements

  I've been using PDO and preparing all my statements primarily for security reasons. However, I have a part of my code that does execute the same statement many times with different parameters, and I thought this would be where the prepared statements really shine. But they actually break the code... The basic logic of the code is this. function someFunction($something) { global $pdo; $array = array(); static $handle = null; if (!$handle) { $handle = $pdo->prepare("A STATEMENT WITH :a_param"); } $handle->bindValue(":a_param", $something); if ($handle->execute()) { while ($row = $handle->fetch()) { $array[] = someFunction($row['blah']); } } return $array; } It looked fine to me, but it was missing out a lot of rows. Eventually I realised that the statement handle was being changed (executed with different param), which means the call to fetch in the while loop will only ever work once, then the function calls itself again, and the result set is changed. So I am wondering what's the best way of using PDO prepared statements in a recursive way. One way could be to use fetchAll(), but it says in the manual that has a substantial overhead. The whole point of this is to make it more efficient. The other thing I could do is not reuse a static handle, and instead make a new one every time. I believe that since the query string is the same, internally the MySQL driver will be using a prepared statement anyway, so there is just the small overhead of creating a new handle on each recursive call. Personally I think that defeats the point. Or is there some way of rewriting this?

• Making a jQuery plugin to feed Tumblr to site

  I have some experience with PHP and a little with JS but I'm far from anything proficient. • Linq to Entities custom ordering via position mapping table

  Hi, I have a news table and I would like to implement custom ordering. I have done this before via a positional mapping table which has newsIds and a position. I then LEFT OUTER JOIN the position table ON news.newsId = position.itemId with a select case statement CASE WHEN [position] IS NULL THEN 9999 ELSE [position] END and order by position asc, articleDate desc. Now I am trying to do the same with Linq to Entities. I have set up my tables with a PK, FK relationship so that my News object has an Entity Collection of positions. Now comes the bit I can't work out. How to implement the LEFT OUTER JOIN. I have so far: var query = SelectMany (n => n.Positions, (n, s) => new { n, s }) .OrderBy(x => x.s.position) .ThenByDescending(x => x.n.articleDate) .Select(x => x.n); This kinda works. However this uses a INNER JOIN so not what I am after. I had another idea: ret = ret.OrderBy(n => n.ShufflePositions.Select(s => s.position)); However I get the error DbSortClause expressions must have a type that is order comparable. I also tried ret = ret.GroupJoin(tse.ShufflePositions, n => n.id, s => s.itemId, (n, s) => new { n, s }) .OrderBy(x => x.s.Select(z => z.position)) .ThenByDescending(x => x.n.articleDate) .Select(x => x.n); but I get the same error! If anyone can help me out, it would be much appreciated!

  I've found three ways of instantiating a Singleton, but I have doubts as to whether any of them is the best there is. I'm using them in a multi-threaded environment and prefer lazy instantiation. Sample 1: private static final ClassName INSTANCE = new ClassName(); public static ClassName getInstance() { return INSTANCE; } Sample 2: private static class SingletonHolder { public static final ClassName INSTANCE = new ClassName(); } public static ClassName getInstance() { return SingletonHolder.INSTANCE; } Sample 3: private static ClassName INSTANCE; public static synchronized ClassName getInstance() { if (INSTANCE == null) INSTANCE = new ClassName(); return INSTANCE; } The project I'm using ATM uses Sample 2 everywhere, but I kind of like Sample 3 more. There is also the Enum version, but I just don't get it. The question here is - in which cases I should/shouldn't use any of these variations? I'm not looking for lengthy explanations though (there's plenty of other topics about that, but they all eventually turn into arguing IMO), I'd like it to be understandable with few words.

• Android - overlay small check icon over specific image in gridview or change border

  I've just asked a question about an hour ago, while waiting for replies, I've thought maybe I can achieve what I want differently. I was thinking of changing the image but it would be better if I could perhaps overlay something over the top of complete levels in the gridview i.e a small tick icon At the moment, when a level has been completed I am storing that with sharedpreferences So I have a gridView layout to display images that represent levels. Let's just say for this example I have 20 levels. When one level is complete is it possible to overlay the tick icon or somehow highlight the level image. Maybe change the border of the image?? Here are the image arrays I use int[] imageIDs = { R.drawable.one, R.drawable.two, R.drawable.three, R.drawable.four, R.drawable.five, R.drawable.six etc....... and then I have my code to set the images in gridView.   I'm using the Jison parser generator for Javascript and am having problems with my language specification. The program I'm writing will be a calculator that can handle feet, inches and sixteenths. I simply added the first line. The regex correctly matches feet, inch, sixteenths, such as 6'4" (six feet, 4 inches) or 4"5s (4 inches, 5 sixteenths) with any kind of whitespace between the numbers and indicators. The problem is that the regex also matches a null string. As a result, the lexical analysis always records a FIS at the start of the line and then the parsing fails. Here is my question: is there a way to modify this regex to guarantee that it will only match a non-zero length string?

• AS3 trouble instantiating Document Class of loaded SWF

  I am loading one swf into another using the Loader class, but when the child swf finishes loading and is added to the display list, its Document Class is not instantiated. I have a few trace statements should execute when the object is created. When I compile the child SWF on its own, the Document Class runs as expected.   Hey Stackoverflow I'm working on my homework and I'm trying to reverse a circular-linked deque without a sentinel. Here are my data structures: struct DLink { TYPE value; struct DLink * next; struct DLink * prev; }; struct cirListDeque { int size; struct DLink *back; }; Here's my approach to reversing the deque: void reverseCirListDeque(struct cirListDeque* q) { struct DLink* current; struct DLink* temp; temp = q->back->next; q->back->next = q->back->prev; q->back->prev = temp; current = q->back->next; while(current != q->back->next) { temp = current->next; current->next = current->prev; current->prev = temp; current = current->next; } } However when I run it and put values 1, 2 and 3 on it (TYPE is just a alias for int in this case) and reverse it I get 2, 3, null. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I may be doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

  Guys, i have created text file in unix enviroment using java code. For writing the text file i am using java.io.FileWriter and BufferedWriter. and for newline after each row i am using bw.newLine() method. (where bw is object of BufferedWriter ) and sending that text file by attaching in mail from unix environment itself (automated that using unix commands). My issue is, after i download the text file from mail in windows system, if i opened that text file the data's are not properly aligned. newline() character is not working i think so. I want same text file alignment as it is in unix environment, if i opened the text file in windows environment also. How to resolve the problem.Please help ASAP. • Failure remediation strategy for File I/O

  I'm doing buffered IO into a file, both read and write. I'm using fopen(), fseeko(), standard ANSI C file I/O functions. In all cases, I'm writing to a standard local file on a disk. How often do these file I/O operations fail, and what should the strategy be for failures? I'm not exactly looking for stats, but I'm looking for a general purpose statement on how far I should go to handle error conditions. For instance, I think everyone recognizes that malloc() could and probably will fail someday on some user's machine and the developer should check for a NULL being returned, but there is no great remediation strategy since it probably means the system is out of memory. At least, this seems to be the approach taken with malloc() on desktop systems, embedded systems are different. Likewise, is it worth reattempting a file I/O operation, or should I just consider a failure to be basically unrecoverable, etc. I would appreciate some code samples demonstrating proper usage, or a library guide reference that indicates how this is to be handled. Any other data is, of course, welcome.
