• Page load fires twice on Firefox - PLEASE HELP !

  OK 1ST SOME BACKGROUND - I have a page showing the number of hits(or views) of any selected item. The hit counter procedure that is called at every page load i.e if (Request.QueryString.HasKeys()) { // get item id from icoming url e.g details.aspx?itemid=26 string itemid = Request.Params["itemid"]; if (!Page.IsPostBack) { countHit(itemid); } } THE PROBLEM - My expectation was that the counter would be increased by 1 on every page load but the counters on my datalist and formview are always behind and stepped by 2 i.e instead of 1, 2, 3, 4 its - 0, 2 , 4, 6 It seems that the page load is firing twice. Later I discovered that this only happens when you are using Mozilla Firefox. The page behaves fine with other browsers like IE This becoming quite frustrating. CAN ANY1 HELP :-(

  My app offers the user the opportunity to put an event in his native calendar. For that, I refer to an online webcal:// URL. Since the underlying .ics file is quite big (containing quite a few events), it sometimes (also depending on the network performance)takes a while before the "Do you want to subscribe"-dialog sequence kicks in. I would like to give the user some feedback in the mean time, like a spinner, or a changing graphic, for him to know that something is going to happen. Question: how does my app know, that the "Do you want to subscribe"-dialog has been shown, and that the user has chosen either a Cancel of OK button in that dialog, so I can stop the spinner?

  I have several 'select' elements on the page. When I choose some of options, the ajax request is being sent to server and the element adjacent to this 'select' must be updated with response value.   Need some help figuring out how to best Store Passwords, User information/Profile data and Photo/Video albums for a social website? For photos/videos the actual photo/video + even encrypting the URL with the IDs to the photo/videos so other users cannot figure it out. Creating a site like myspace and designing retirement documents but i am unsure how to specify the security requirements for the database. Two things: 1) Protect from outside users 2) Protect all these from employees being able to access this info For #2, the additional question is: If we encrypt the user info and password so even the system admins cannot get in, how can we retrieve the user data tomorrow if someone flags the user's account as spam and admin needs to check it out or if law enforcement wants info on a user?   Please not that I fully understand this is a dumb ass idea, but its not my idea. We need to deter people visiting a certain page on our site. It's written in ASP and I don'tknow ASP! Can anyone tell me how I can have a pop up box load when the URL is visited where by people have to enter a username / password. The user name / password should be stored in the javascript. (Yes I know) The only real requirement is that this happen anytime the page is loaded and it stays on that page. No matter what i put in that width attribute, i get the same size width tooltip which is about half of the width that i need. the height is perfectly fine. any ideas? is this a bug in the product ?

The PHP script writes the page data to the MySQL database, and outputs a success message that is treated as JavaScript code and executed by the browser.   I'm using scriptaculous Builder to generate some DOM elements dynamically, and one of them is a link tag. I wasn't sure how to generate this with the click callback inline along with the rest of the Builder code, so I'm generating the link tag ahead of time and then inserting it with the rest of the Builder phase. The problem is that the callback for the link is never actually executed when I click the link, and the URL bar changes to http://localhost/foo/bar/# instead. • Background image fixed with vertical scroll bar in IE

  I have a gradient background image in my web application, it goes from dark at the top to light at the bottom. In Firefox, this image is handled properly, where upon scrolling vertically downwards on the page, the dark top section disappears. However, when I started testing in IE (I'm using IE8) the background image stays fixed behind the screen as you vertically scroll, meaning the dark top section of the background image is always rendered at the top of the IE view. I've set the background tag to have scroll defined, which from all I can tell should solve the problem, but IE is not happy. background: #470077 url( images/abcd.jpg ) repeat-x scroll; I made sure to be clearing the data in IE in case it was caching the old style before I added scroll. • Best way to merge two identical ASPNET web sites?

  We have two websites which only diference is in the design (Diferent images, styles, layouts..etc) but the web structure of files and cs code is the same so we want to simplify its manteinance... The actual structure would be: DefaultA.aspx DefaultA.aspx.cs DefaultB.aspx DefaultB.aspx.cs LoginA.aspx LoginA.aspx.cs LoginB.aspx LoginB.aspx.cs One idea would be changing the design differencies at runtime depending of the origin website, but we dont like much this because performance, abstraction in designing them and url confusion... Another one is sharing the cs (both aspx inheriting and using the same cs) file but we never have done or seen it done in any website before so we wonder if its a good aproach... What do you think? Any other way better in terms of performance vs development-ease?

''; echo $output; Problem is when I try to read worked, it tells me the variable worked is not there event.result.worked myhttp.lastResult.worked The only thing that works is using toString() myhttp.lastResult.toString() or event.result.toString() What am I doing wrong? I plan to add other variables to the output time, so need to access each time and worked separately. I may also need to return multiple responses each with their own worked and time values. How do I do that. I was thinking to not use XML. Is there a more lightweight option. Flex shows I have the following options: array e4x flashvars object text xml
