  • Running an Application on a Different Domain

    Were I am contracting at right now has a new development domain.  Because of IT security rules it is fairly isolated from the domain my computer normally logs into (for e-mail and such).  I do use a VM to log directly into the domain but one of my co-workers found this command to run things on your box but in the other domain.  Pretty cool. For example this runs SQL Server Management Tool for SQL Server 2008: runas /netonly /user:{domain}\{username} "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\ssms.exe" And this runs visual studios: runas /netonly /user:{domain}\{username} "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe" It does not solve the problem I wanted to solve which would be to be able to assign Users/Groups in Team Explorer.  It instead still uses the domain I am logged into's groups.

  • Unable to boot OS X after installing Ubuntu 12.04

    I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my MB (aluminium late 2008). After installing Ubuntu I am unable to boot into OS X. Sequence of events: Install reFit on OS X Install Ubuntu on a partitioned drive. I also installed grub. Now when I boot my MB only the grub menu shows up. When I select OS X under grub I see a black screen for a while and the machine restarts (when selecting OS X 64 bit) or it hangs indefinitely(OS X 32 bit). Could you please help?     I am learning ASP.Net and I am confusing between ASP.Net WebPages, ASP.Net WebForms and ASP.Net MVC. I have read a lot of articles and known the simple difference of their functions, but I don't know the differences of their code. E.g: When I look at int* p = new int(); ... I know that it's C++ style. and Dim A as String it have to be Visual Basic. [?1] I'm not able to detect like that in ASP.Net. How do they different in codes? I use Visual Studio 2010 Express Edition.I like to use C# (I also was learned VisualBasic in shool, but I don't like him). When I create a new project, there're too many types of project, then, I don't know which I should choose (I just want to make a simple site). [?2] What are they used to? Thanks

  • Getting wireless to work on Ubuntu 11.10 (on a mac machine)

    I have a 2008 white 13.3 inch macbook that now solely runs ubuntu. However, I cannot get wifi or cable to work on it. Regarding the cable, it atleast tries to connect but eventually disconnects from the wired network. Here is the output for lspci (pastebin) I tried installing b43-fwcutter and firmware-b43 but get errors. (I loaded them from a thumb drive and tried sudo dpkg -i). I cannot understand these instructions from the documentation, as I cannot locate the pool directory. b43-fwcutter is located on the Ubuntu install media under ../pool/main/b/b43-fwcutter/ and patch is located under ../pool/main/p/patch/ or both in the official repositories online. Note: In some versions (10.04 and 11.04 at least) there is not a /pool/main/p/patch/ If this file is missing then you don't need it. In this case you only need to install /pool/main/b/b43-fwcutter by following the instructions below.

  • Is the June 2010 DX SDK really the latest?

    I have not been involved in game development, using the DirectX SDK, since around 2008. From the looks of it, the June 2010 release, of the DirectX SDK, is still the latest release. This release is more than two years ago, based on the name. Is this still the latest release, or has there been a naming convention change and I am missing something newer? I've seen mention of it being rolled into a Windows SDK, so I am confused and figured I would come here to ask. Thanks

    I'm a beginner .NET programmer (C# and IronPython). I've come across WatiN .NET library which will show handy for what I'm trying to do. The website claims that it is compatible with any .NET language, so I assume it's compatible with IronPython as well. How do I go about installing it? Their website only has some instructions, using NUget in Visual Studio. I neither use Visual Studio nor am I interested in it. How and where would I put the downloaded files in order to make it work with IronPython?

  • Are there statistics or time series of open bugs in Ubuntu?

    I would like to know how the number of bugs in Ubuntu (open, closed, critical, etc) has evolved with time. It's a sort of scientific curiosity I have, but it would also give me a feeling how the community has changed over time, how it has coped with the challenges (I think of Unity in particular) and what's its status now. Has anyone collected these data over the years? If yes, are they publicly available? I know this information can be gathered from Launchpad itself and actually I found a website that had data from mid 2008 to early 2009. I found Ubuntu live stats, which shows live messages related to Ubuntu, but does not aggregate bug statistics. Finally there are some stats on the Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter but they only show diffs of bugs closed during the last week.

    I am building a very small e-commerce site, and I need a free and simple to use/deploy/integrate shopping cart that I can add into my website in order to be able to sell a FEW items. I want the shopping cart to be an add-on in my website, nothing fancy.Ideally when a person clicks on the "Add to cart" button, they will be redirected to the shopping cart, which will then handle different types of payment methods, and everything else you would expect from a fully working shopping cart.     Hi All,   Sysprep creates a snapshot of a virtual machine with BizTalk Server 2010 installed for quick deployment on other virtual machines   Prerequisites Before using Sysprep, you should have some knowledge of using virtual machines with Hyper-V. You should also have a virtual machine with a clean, typical installation of BizTalk Server and all of its prerequisites. Sysprep will run on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista with SP1. Description Sysprep creates a VHD of a BizTalk Server 2010 installation (including the operating system and all prerequisites) for quick deployment on other virtual machines. An image created using Sysprep will choose a new computer name in order to join the domain the first time it starts. To get BizTalk Server running properly, it is necessary to update various instances of the computer name that are stored in the registry and databases.   • WSS Fails Installing On Step 5 Of The SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard

    I've attempted to install WSS 3.0 with SP1 several times as both stand-alone and server farm with no luck on Windows Server 2008.  When I get to step 5 of Configuration wizard it begin installing and publishing services but on Step 5 I get the message "Failed To Register Sharepoint Services". The detail behind this message reads "An exception of type Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException was thrown". Then I Run the command psconfig -cmd configdb -create -database <whatever_unique_name> Click on Start / All Programs / Administrative Tools / SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard Should work now (it did with me). PS: This was done on a Virtual Machine (VMware)

The application stops and we have to restart IIS or the server to continue the job (the number of users is less then 50). We have no error message.     Type erasure enables Java applications that use generics to maintain binary compatibility with Java libraries and applications that were created before generics Generics were introduced in Java 1.5, so presumably the statement "applications that were created before generics" is referring to Java 1.4? Given that Java 1.4 entered its End Of Life around 2006 and was officially End Of Life'd around 2008. Why is type erasure still being performed in Java 7, etc... Has the statement now become self referential i.e. Type erasure enables Java applications that use generics to maintain binary compatibility with Java libraries and applications that were created with Java versions that perform Type Erasure. Meaning therefore that there will never be a version of Java that doesn't perform Type Erasure.

    I'm interested in writing my own database - a triple-store. Are there any good resources to help with the challenges of such a project? Or more generally: How can I learn to write my own database? Some specific issues I'm unsure of: How is the data actually stored on the file-system? A flat-file seems easy enough, but a database is a lot more then a flat-file. What kinds of things are typically stored (or cached) in memory? How are indexes created and stored? How is ACID compliance achieved? Etc. This is a big topic, but knowing how to store large amounts of data in a reliable way is good to know. (My investigation into existing triple-stores was summarized back in 2008; not much has changed in 4 years it seems. This is why I want write my own.)
