    I had recently replaced a failing hard drive on my software raid 1 system with suse 10.1 , and i am checking for any warning messages on " var/log/warn " and i found this message "avahi-daemon[3201]: Invalid query packet." more than 12 times , i am new to these stuff , should i be concerned , is there something wrong with the system , can i check anywhere else to find out if there is any problem with the system.   • !! 0xc01a00d !! aka Vista won't boot

    Answer: Parts of the hard drive are corrupted. All of my user's code was checked in, so I'm just going to format the box. One of my users has an HP DV5-1235dx laptop running Windows Vista Professional x64. Last night, our WSUS server pushed out a few updates including "Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB960859)". When we try to boot the laptop today, a black screen with white text comes up displaying: xxx/169894 (something) Where xxx increments rapidly and something is some dll or registry key. Eventually that stops and the screen displays !! 0xc01a00d !! 35566/169894 (\Registry\Machine\COMPONENTS\DerivedDat...) No other computers that received this update are displaying the same error. So far I've tried running CHKDSK off of HBCD. It repaired a thing or two, but the computer still doesn't boot. I tried repairing the Windows install from the Vista CD, but I get a black screen with white text displaying something along the lines of: 0 No Emulation System Type 00 1 No Emulation System Type 00 Select one of the above Booting in Last Known Good Configuration doesn't work. Booting in Safe Mode freezes at Loading Windows Files [snip] Loaded: \windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys Please wait... My next step is trying to boot Safe Mode with Command Prompt and try to run rstrui.exe. While I do that, does anybody have any guidance? Edit: Booting into Safe Mode with Command Prompt will not work. See Booting in Safe Mode above. Edit 2: I managed to boot from the Vista DVD. I ran the system repair, and now I get a black screen with white text saying: !! 0xc0000034 !! 290/169894 (_0000000000000000.cdf-ms) Edit 3: I ran the system repair again, and it attempted to repair my hard drive. It failed.     I bought ACERREVO, first I connected it to the SONY TV Via HDMI output for few days it worked very well and one fine day when switch the computer on it boots and TV screen becomes black and message on the TV shows -no input signal. Problem is, it's evidently not on my computer, since I can't a) run Eclipse - I get "Could Not Find Java SE Runtime Environment" or b) Find any reference to Java from the command line when typing java -version - I get "Error opening registry key 'Registry/JavaSoft/Java Runtime Environment." Any ideas?

    I'm getting broken pipe errors from a command that does something like: ls -tr1 /a/path | awk -F '\n' -vpath=/prepend/path/ '{print path$1}' | head -n 50 Essentially I want to list (with absolute path) the oldest X files in a directory. What seems to happen is that the output is correct (I get 50 file paths output) but that when head has output the 50 files it closes stdin causing awk to throw a broken pipe error as it is still outputting more rows.

  • Why my VPN doesn't work anymore?

    I have openvpn server running on debian lenny. There is only one client - and it is running Windows 7 64-bit. This has worked for few months without any problems. And now, let's say for the last 7 days, it doesn't work at all. I connect successfully from client to the server, but I can't access anything through VPN. I have set it up so that all internet traffic is routed through VPN, and now when I connect with the client, the client can't do anything on the net (open any webpage, ping google, anything ...). Can you help me to figure out what's wrong ? I don't know where to start. I've also tried to connect to another openvpn server (I've installed and configured openvpn on another server, and when I try to connect to it result is the same). So I think there's something wrong with client ...   • Xubuntu login hangs after Cancel Button click

    I'm running Xubuntu 12.04 (I installed using the alternative installer.) running in Virtaulbox 4.1.20 My issue is with the login screen (lightdm-gtk-greeter). It usually runs just fine, and allows users to log in and out but it will hang if the user presses the cancel button. The interface is still working (ie, shutdown menu is still available, I can switch to a different tty) but the username or password field (depending on when the button is hit) is disabled. Restarting lightdm will reset the screen, but the problem still exists. The issue is only with the cancel button. The login, session, and language buttons/menus as well as the accessibility and shutdown menu appear to work normally. I've modified some of the config files for lighdm-gtk-greeter, specifically /etc/lightdm/lighdm-gtk-greeter.conf to change the background image and /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf to disable the user list. I did not check to see if the error existed before the changes took place. The changes have been restored the default settings but the problem persists.     I've edited my conf.d/ssl.conf file and changed the TransferLog directive from: TransferLog logs/ssl_access_log to TransferLog "|/usr/sbin/rotatelogs logs/ssl_access_log.%Y-%m-%d.log 60" (I am using 60 seconds for testing) Since that change and an httpd restart my original ssl_access_log is not updating and a new log was not generated. Today the VPN went down, but i couldnt log in to the read-only DC - the error message came up There are no logon servers to process your request. Since the RODC is a domain controller, there is no local administrator. How can i ensure that i am always able to log on to the RODC with a known account in an emergency if the writeable DC is not available?

    how can I fix broken IIS on Windows 7 ? Deinstalling it via "Windows Features" doesn't help. Apparently it doesn't uninstall IIS completely so on my subsequent attempts to install it installer hangs and I can see in Process Explorer that it keeps trying to launch svchost.exe -iis for 10 mins and then gives me error message. Reinstalling whole Windows with all apps would take me another 3 days :/ Please help.

    Still unable to install WIN SBS 2008 in DELL POWEREDGE T100 server and the long post is going on at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/aa1bc4b0-943e-4ada-8de1-e03161c8fc2c My problem is unable to install sbs 2008 in 500 GB 4k sectors hdd but installation is successful in 512 bytes sector hdd. Anybody please help to solve this issue? Installation of SBS 2008 proceeds ; atlast it is not getting completed with the error message "Windows Setup could not configure Windows on this computer’s hardware"

  • system error 58 while accessing shares on win 7 from xp

    I am getting a weird one. I am getting error following error message while accessing win 7 shares from xp. " system error 58 has occurred. the specified server cannot perform the requested operation." both machines are in same domain. windows xp machine can view and access all other share except windows 7. both machines do not have any firewall.
