  • Printing complex widgets in Qt

    - by Jens
    I have a complex widget with tons of different subwidgets, e.g. subclasses of QLabel. I want to print this widget, but obviously I do not want to print the background, I want to print with differing text colors or have the style of frames slightly modified. As I do not really want to iterate through all subwidgets with a special "print" function, which I would need to attach to all widgets (how to add "print" to a QLabel?), I would like to use paintEvent. If I have a hierarchy MyWidget - derived from - some QWidget, I would like to insert a sublayer MyWidget - MyPrintWidget - some QWidget, where myPrintWidget::paintEvent would check, if the current print is going to the screen (thus call QWidget::paintEvent), else if we are printing to the printer, call some function MyPrintWidget::drawWidget instead. Is this the right way to print-enable a widget? How can I figure out in paintEvent, that I'm printing to a printer instead of the screen? Is there a good example of printing complex widgets?

  • passing parameters to a thread

    - by assassin
    I want to pass a function that takes a parameter to the ThreadStart Constructor in C#. But, it seems that this is not possible, as I get a syntax error it I try to do something like this Thread t1 = new Thread(new Thread Start(func1(obj1)); where obj1 is an object of type List<string> (say). If I want a thread to execute this function that takes in an object as a parameter, and I plan to create 2 such threads simultaneously with different parameter values what is the best method to achieve this?

  • Flex custom toggleswitch not working in actionscript

    - by Gavin Jones
    I have a custom Flex Toggleswitch component that changes the text values of the switch. package skins { import spark.skins.mobile.ToggleSwitchSkin; public class MyToggleSwitchSkin extends ToggleSwitchSkin { public function MyToggleSwitchSkin() { super(); selectedLabel="Serviceable"; unselectedLabel="Fault"; } } } If I add the control using the MXML tag, it works fine. However, when I add the component using action script, it does not. import skins.MyToggleSwitchSkin; public function addToggle():void { var myCustomToggle:MyToggleSwitchSkin = new MyToggleSwitchSkin(); hgroup.addElement(myCustomToggle); } The control dsiplays but will not activate. Any ideas what I have missed?

  • $("body").scrollTop() doesn't update in safari

    - by Kristoffer Nolgren
    I'm working on a website: http://beta.projektopia.se/ the body has several background-images that are updated on scroll like this: $(document).ready(function(){ $(document).scroll(function(){ var scrollfactor=$("body").scrollTop()*0.2; var centerscrollpos =scrollfactor+613; var docheight = $(document).height(); var windowheight = $(window).height(); var bottompos = (docheight-980)-((docheight-windowheight)*0.2)+scrollfactor; var scrollpos = 'center '+scrollfactor+'px,center '+bottompos+'px, center '+ centerscrollpos+'px,center 0px'; $("body").css("background-position", scrollpos); }); }); Lots of calculations, but the important thing is that a scrollpos is created that should change the position of the background when you scroll, to create a parallax-effect. It works great in chrome, but in firefox, the variable scrollfactor, that is suppose to get the current scroll-position, doesn't update. ps, some people have this issue due to lack of correct doctype. I believe i have declared it correctly like this: <!DOCTYPE html>

  • Magento 1.4 Load By Category Not Working

    - by LinuxGnut
    Hi folks. I have a Magento helper class I wrote that works wonderfully in 1.3. However, we're working on a new install of 1.4 and filtering by category won't work for some reason. function __construct() { Mage::app(); $this-model = Mage::getModel('catalog/product'); $this-collection = $this-model-getCollection(); $this-collection-addAttributeToFilter('status', 1);//enabled $this-collection-addAttributeToSelect('*'); } function filterByCategoryID($catID) { $this-collection-addCategoryFilter(Mage::getModel('catalog/category')-load($catID)); } I can't figure out why this isn't working in 1.4. Has anyone else come into this issue?

  • Measuring time taken to display an object in Flex

    - by dta
    For e.g. function showIt():void { something.visible = true; } function init():void { time1 = flash.utils.getTimer(); showIt(); time2 = flash.utils.getTimer(); } <mx:st id="something" visible="false"/> <mx:Button click="init()"/> In the above code, I want to measure the time taken to display st on screen. Is it enough to compute time2 - time1? Or should I put an event handler on render? Or some other way?

  • bulk update/delete entities of different kind in db.run_in_transaction

    - by Ray Yun
    Here goes pseudo code of bulk update/delete entities of different kind in single transaction. Note that Album and Song entities have AlbumGroup as root entity. class AlbumGroup: pass class Album: group = db.ReferenceProperty(reference_class=AlbumGroup,collection_name="albums") class Song: album = db.ReferenceProperty(reference_class=Album,collection_name="songs") def bulk_update_album_group(album_group): updated = [album_group] deleted = [] for album in album_group.albums: updated.append(album) for song in album.songs: if song.is_updated: updated.append(song) if song.is_deleted: deleted.append(song) db.put(updated) db.delete(deleted) a = AlbumGroup.all().filter("...").get() # bulk update/delete album group. for simplicity, album cannot be deleted. db.run_in_transaction(bulk_update_album_group,a) But I met a famous "Only Ancestor Queries in Transactions" error at the iterating reference properties like album.songs or album_group.albums. I guess ancestor() filter does not help because those entities are modified in memory. Should I not to iterate reference property in transaction function and always provide them as function parameters like def bulk_update_album_group(updated,deleted): ??? Is there any good coding pattern for this situation?

  • PyGTK: Radiobuttons are still displayed after removal

    - by canavanin
    Hi everyone! I am using PyGTK and the gtk.assistant. On one page I would like to display two radiobuttons in case the user selected a certain option on a previous page. The labels of the buttons - and whether the buttons are to be present at all - are to depend entirely on that earlier selection. Furthermore, if the user goes back and changes that selection, the page containing the radiobuttons is to be updated accordingly. I have got as far as having the radiobuttons displayed when necessary, and with the correct labels. The trouble is that if I go back and change the determining selection, or if I move one page further than the 'radiobutton page' and then move back, the buttons are not only not removed (in case that would have been required), their number has also doubled. To show you what I'm doing, here's part of my code (I've left out bits that do unrelated things, that's why the function name doesn't fit). The function is called when the "prepare" signal is emitted prior to construction of the 'radiobutten page'. def make_class_skills_treestore(self): print self.trained_by_default_hbox.get_children() # PRINT 1 for child in self.trained_by_default_hbox.get_children(): if type(child) == gtk.RadioButton: self.trained_by_default_hbox.remove(child) #child.destroy() # <-- removed the labels, but not the buttons print self.trained_by_default_hbox.get_children() # PRINT 2 class_skills = self.data.data['classes'][selected_class].class_skills.values() default_trained_count = (class_skills.count([True, True]) , class_skills.count([True, False])) num_default_trained_skills = default_trained_count[1] / 2 # you have to pick one of a pair --> don't # count each as trained by default for i in range(default_trained_count[0]): # those are trained by default --> no choice num_default_trained_skills +=1 selected_class = self.get_classes_key_from_class_selection() if default_trained_count[1]: for skill in self.data.data['classes'][selected_class].class_skills.keys(): if self.data.data['classes'][selected_class].class_skills[skill] == [ True, False ] and not self.default_radio: self.default_radio.append(gtk.RadioButton(group=None, label=skill)) elif self.data.data['classes'][selected_class].class_skills[skill] == [ True, False ] and self.default_radio: self.default_radio.append(gtk.RadioButton(group=self.default_radio[0], label=skill)) if self.default_radio: for radio in self.default_radio: self.trained_by_default_hbox.add(radio) self.trained_by_default_hbox.show_all() self.trained_by_default_hbox and self.trained_by_default_label, as well as self.default_radio stem from the above function's class. I have two print statements (PRINT 1 and PRINT 2) in there for debugging. Here's what they give me: PRINT 1: [<gtk.Label object at 0x8fc4c84 (GtkLabel at 0x90a2f20)>, <gtk.RadioButton object at 0x8fc4d4c (GtkRadioButton at 0x90e4018)>, <gtk.RadioButton object at 0x8fc4cac (GtkRadioButton at 0x90ceec0)>] PRINT 2: [<gtk.Label object at 0x8fc4c84 (GtkLabel at 0x90a2f20)>] So the buttons have indeed been removed, yet they still show up on the page. I know the code requires some refactoring, but first I'd like to get it to work at all... If someone could help me out that would be great! Thanks a lot in advance for your replies - any kind of help is highly appreciated.

  • Searching within an array of strings...

    - by SoLoGHoST
    Ok, I'm feeling retarded here, I have a string like so: $string = 'function module_testing{'; or it could be like this: $string = 'function module_testing'; And than I have an array of strings like so: $string_array = array('module_testing', 'another_function', 'and_another_function'); Now, is there some sort of preg_match that I can do to test if any of the $string_array values are found within the $string string at any given position? So in this situation, there would be a match. Or is there a better way to do this? I can't use in_array since it's not an exact match, and I'd rather not do a foreach loop on it if I can help it, since it's already in a while loop. Thanks :)

  • jQuery UI Element vs Dojo (Dijit) Form Element

    - by Muers
    Dojo seems to have a useful feature in that it can setup event handlers and default options, etc for Dijit.form elements as it is inserting it into the DOM. For example, Dojo: var slider = new dijit.form.HorizontalSlider({ name: sliderContainerId+'_slider', value: sliderValue, minimum: sliderMax, maximum: sliderMin, onChange: function(value){ // some event handling logic } }, sliderContainerId); However, the jQuery UI Slider traditionally is applied to DOM elements that already exist: $( sliderContainerId ).slider({ value:100, min: 0, max: 500, step: 50, slide: function( event, ui ) { $( "#amount" ).val( "$" + ui.value ); } }); I need to be able to 'programmatically' create new Sliders (and other form elements), but I'm not sure how that could be achieved with the way jQuery is structured? Maybe I'm missing something obvious here.... MTIA

  • How to create a GtkImage from a Cairo context?

    - by Zurbo82
    I got a paint function that works using a Cairo context and the end result should be a GtkImage (without intermediate image creation). I tried to use the gdk_cairo_create function but this code: ... GdkPixbuf *pixbuf = gdk_pixbuf_new (GDK_COLORSPACE_RGB, FALSE, 8, 22, 22); GtkWidget *image = gtk_image_new_from_pixbuf (pixbuf); GdkDrawable *drawable = image->window; cairo_t *ctx = gdk_cairo_create (drawable); my_cairo_paint_function (ctx); ... fails with: Gdk-CRITICAL **: IA__gdk_cairo_create: assertion `GDK_IS_DRAWABLE (drawable)' failed Same with a simple: #include <gtk/gtk.h> #include <cairo.h> int main (int argc, char *argv[]) { gtk_init(&argc, &argv); cairo_t *ctx = gdk_cairo_create (gtk_widget_get_window (gtk_image_new_from_file ("foobar.png"))); gtk_main(); return 0; } I don't understand why this fails. Any help is appreciated!

  • Javascript - remove part of cookie with a split('|') like array

    - by MgS
    I'm abit stuck. I'm using jQuery. I have a cookie which has the value such as : 1,something|2,somethingg|1,something We are treating it as [0] as id and [1] as name. I need to remove ONE where the id == '1' for example, this will leave the cookie like this: 1,something|2,somethingg How do I go about this, it will probally be in a loop, but not sure how to remove one of them. I have this so far: function removeItem(id){ var cookieName = 'myCookie'; var cookie = $.cookie(cookieName); if(cookie){ var cookie = cookie.split('|'); $(cookie).each(function(index){ var thisCookieData = this.split(','); if(thisCookieData[0] == id ){ } }); }

  • python unit testing os.remove fails file system

    - by hwjp
    Am doing a bit of unit testing on a function which attempts to open a new file, but should fail if the file already exists. when the function runs sucessfully, the new file is created, so i want to delete it after every test run, but it doesn't seem to be working: class MyObject_Initialisation(unittest.TestCase): def setUp(self): if os.path.exists(TEMPORARY_FILE_NAME): try: os.remove(TEMPORARY_FILE_NAME) except WindowsError: #TODO: can't figure out how to fix this... #time.sleep(3) #self.setUp() #this just loops forever pass def tearDown(self): self.setUp() any thoughts? The Windows Error thrown seems to suggest the file is in use... could it be that the tests are run in parallel threads? I've read elsewhere that it's 'bad practice' to use the filesystem in unit testing, but really? Surely there's a way around this that doesn't invole dummying the filesystem?

  • Why does std::map operator[] create an object if the key doesn't exist?

    - by n1ck
    Hi, I'm pretty sure I already saw this question somewhere (comp.lang.c++? Google doesn't seem to find it there either) but a quick search here doesn't seem to find it so here it is: Why does the std::map operator[] create an object if the key doesn't exist? I don't know but for me this seems counter-intuitive if you compare to most other operator[] (like std::vector) where if you use it you must be sure that the index exists. I'm wondering what's the rationale for implementing this behavior in std::map. Like I said wouldn't it be more intuitive to act more like an index in a vector and crash (well undefined behavior I guess) when accessed with an invalid key? Refining my question after seeing the answers: Ok so far I got a lot of answers saying basically it's cheap so why not or things similar. I totally agree with that but why not use a dedicated function for that (I think one of the comment said that in java there is no operator[] and the function is called put)? My point is why doesn't map operator[] work like a vector? If I use operator[] on an out of range index on a vector I wouldn't like it to insert an element even if it was cheap because that probably mean an error in my code. My point is why isn't it the same thing with map. I mean, for me, using operator[] on a map would mean: i know this key already exist (for whatever reason, i just inserted it, I have redundancy somewhere, whatever). I think it would be more intuitive that way. That said what are the advantage of doing the current behavior with operator[] (and only for that, I agree that a function with the current behavior should be there, just not operator[])? Maybe it give clearer code that way? I don't know. Another answer was that it already existed that way so why not keep it but then, probably when they (the ones before stl) choose to implement it that way they found it provided an advantage or something? So my question is basically: why choose to implement it that way, meaning a somewhat lack of consistency with other operator[]. What benefit do it give? Thanks

  • How to manipulate file paths intelligently in .Net 3.5?

    - by Hamish Grubijan
    Scenario: I am maintaining a function which helps with an install - copies files from PathPart1/pending_install/PathPart2/fileName to PathPart1/PathPart2/fileName. It seems that String.Replace() and Path.Combine() do not play well together. The code is below. I added this section: // The behavior of Path.Combine is weird. See: // http://stackoverflow.com/questions/53102/why-does-path-combine-not-properly-concatenate-filenames-that-start-with-path-dir while (strDestFile.StartsWith(@"\")) { strDestFile = strDestFile.Substring(1); // Remove any leading backslashes } Debug.Assert(!Path.IsPathRooted(strDestFile), "This will make the Path.Combine(,) fail)."); in order to take care of a bug (code is sensitive to a constant @"pending_install\" vs @"pending_install" which I did not like and changed (long story, but there was a good opportunity for constant reuse). Now the whole function: //You want to uncompress only the files downloaded. Not every file in the dest directory. private void UncompressFiles() { string strSrcDir = _application.Client.TempDir; ArrayList arrFiles = new ArrayList(); GetAllCompressedFiles(ref arrFiles, strSrcDir); IEnumerator enumer = arrFiles.GetEnumerator(); while (enumer.MoveNext()) { string strDestFile = enumer.Current.ToString().Replace(_application.Client.TempDir, String.Empty); // The behavior of Path.Combine is weird. See: // http://stackoverflow.com/questions/53102/why-does-path-combine-not-properly-concatenate-filenames-that-start-with-path-dir while (strDestFile.StartsWith(@"\"")) { strDestFile = strDestFile.Substring(1); // Remove any leading backslashes } Debug.Assert(!Path.IsPathRooted(strDestFile), "This will make the Path.Combine(,) fail)."); strDestFile = Path.Combine(_application.Client.BaseDir, strDestFile); strDestFile = strDestFile.Replace(Path.GetExtension(strDestFile), String.Empty); ZSharpLib.ZipExtractor.ExtractZip(enumer.Current.ToString(), strDestFile); FileUtility.DeleteFile(enumer.Current.ToString()); } } Please do not laugh at the use of ArrayList and the way it is being iterated - it was pioneered by a C++ coder during a .Net 1.1 era. I will change it. What I am interested in: what is a better way of replacing PathPart1/pending_install/PathPart2/fileName with PathPart1/PathPart2/fileName within the current code. Note that _application.Client.TempDir is just _application.Client.BaseDir + @"\pending_install". While there are many ways to improve the code, I am mainly concerned with the part which has to do with String.Replace(...) and Path.Combine(,). I do not want to make changes outside of this function. I wish Path.Combine(,) took an optional bool flag, but it does not. So ... given my constraints, how can I rework this so that it starts to suck less?

  • I have a ConnectException that isn't being caught for some reason

    - by aakbari1024
    I'm working on an Android application that uses sockets. I have a function called initializeStreams() which opens the socket and attempts a connection. This function throws a ConnectException if the connection could not be established. But for some reason, in the code that calls initializeStreams(), which has a catch block for ConnectException, the log prints out its own stack trace for the exception instead of going to the catch block. The catch block is never reached at all, even though the exact exception is being thrown. Here's the code: The try block: try { initializeStreams(); /* drivesList = new ArrayList<String>(); drivesList = enumerateDrives();*/ } catch (ConnectException e) { //Log.i(TAG, "caught connect exception"); /*loadingProgress.dismiss(); retryConnection();*/ } initializeStreams(): public void initializeStreams() throws ConnectException { try { Log.i(TAG, "Attempting to connect"); requestSocket = new Socket(SERVER_ADDR, PORT); /* other code */ } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } I can't figure this out, so any help would be much appreciated. }
