  Hi , I have a Fortran 77 program code , I am using fortran power station on XP . I wrote this program because I am studying Master's degree in Mechanics , It is a very long Finite element method code. when I press the compile order it shows me the following message : "fatal error F1002: compiler is out of heap space in pass 2" I googled the problem , and found the following solutions : http://www.microsofttranslator.com/BV.aspx?ref=CSSKB&from=en&to=ar&a=http://support.microsoft.com/kb/112345/en-us?fr=1 But to be honest , I did not understand the solution !!!   Hi, Has anybody used the Patterns in Action from the Do Factory? I just have a question on the architecture. I always thought that the service must call the repository. In the solution the have ActionService and a repository. Lets say I want to get all the customers then in my controller I would call the repository's GetCustomers method. This will then call ActionService's GetCustomer's method. And then lastly another GetCustomers method is called in the customer data access object. Is this right? Any comments on the way that they implemented things in the Patterns in Action?

  I am trying to build an Iphone App client for our CRM solution so our sales people would be able to access the information available in our CRM through an Iphone App. I am trying to find out what is the recommended approach to architect the application when it comes to the database. I am not sure where should the data reside, should I save a subset of the data on the iPhone, or should I just rely on webservices and pull the information I need from the database whenever I need it. Also, is there any best practices or frameworks to build such applications on the Iphone.

  I'm looking for a full featured AOP Library for Actionscript 3. The following projects I noticed so far, but they all seem to have their problems: - http://farmcode.org/page/Sodality.aspx (looks most promising so far, however it requires you to create a whole new class for every AOP "call" I believe, and it forces you to follow quite a lot of restrictions, anyone has experience with it? - http://code.google.com/p/loom-as3/ (this one is discontinued) - http://code.google.com/p/floxy/ (dynamic proxy generation? this isn't really AOP as I know it, right?) - http://code.google.com/p/flemit/ (dynamic byte code generation? this is something AOP needs I think, but not the full featured AOP framework I am looking for) Does anyone know of a better solution?   Im looking for a nice demo/sample using Windows Mobile Managed Gestures. I have a main view that contains a single panel. Every item in the panel is another panel containing pictureBox and a label. I would like to implement scrooling (finger flicking) to avoid using thin scroolers. Are the Windows Mobile Managed Gestures the right solution to get this working, if so can some one provide me with a begginers demo? I downloaded the source code from http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/gestureswm/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=3438 but i would need a simple example using this source. Also a question ... does this work only on 6.5? Even if i got this working is there a way to support this in 6.0 ? thanx!

• How to override HTML <FONT SIZE="2"> with CSS

  I was given the task of doing a facelift to our current site. I am moderately well versed in CSS so I am converting the bazillion tags to CSS styles and deleting about 2 times that many that were simply not necessary. It's all going well until I run into a certain product page that is only a wrapper into which other HTML files are pulled by a server.execute(filename) command. (we're using aspx for the wrapper page.) There are almost 700 of these pages and they all are cursed with this and that. Past editors with FrontPage that only know how to drag pretty things on the screen. Anyway, I am wondering if there is a way to use CSS in the wrapper page to override the tag behavior so I can make it something sane that fits with the rest of my pages. I'd even be open to something JavaScript that would remove the tags, but that's my less preferred solution. Thanks!

• Utilising cssText to set styles with JavaScript

  I was going through Nicholas Zakas presentation on JavaScript here : http://www.slideshare.net/nzakas/writing-efficient-javascript (slide number: 89/139) He recommends using cssText property whenever you are setting a bunch of styles through JavaScript. The best solution is obviously adding those styles to a class and then using JS to add the classname to an element.However, in many situations, We resort to just setting the properties directly within JS when the number of properties are low. It seems from his presentation that using cssText property would be more efficient in such scenarios.I tried to look up more on the property but couldn't find much information. Has anyone used the 'cssText' property ? It would be great to have some more technical info on how the property helps.

  I am creating a Wordpress blog (no live link yet because it's still at a planning stage). I want to set up the following tag structure: Category 1: Services Tags: Web design, logo design, print design, etc etc. Category 2: Type of clients Tags: small businesses, large companies So each post will be tagged with one or more tags from Category 1, and one tag from Category 2. However, I heard that using more than one Category per post is a bad idea in terms of SEO? But then, how can I go about it? I don't want any SEO penalties, but I will need to somehow categorize each post using these 2 distinct categories. Should I create some custom taxonomies? That seems like an overkill to me. The solution is probably something rather simple but it just escapes me. I'm not very experienced with taxonomies so I'll appreciate any suggestions.

  Does anyone know of any way to overcome NotSupportedException? I have a method against a User: public virtual bool IsAbove(User otherUser) { return HeirarchyString.StartsWith(otherUser.HeirarchyString); } And I want to do: _session.Query<User>.Where(x => loggedInUser.IsAbove(x)); But this throws a NotSupportedException. The real pain though is that using _session.Query<User>.Where(x => loggedInUser.HeirarchyString.StartsWith(x.HeirarchyString)); works absolutely fine. I don't like this as a solution, however, because it means that if I change how the IsAbove method works, I have to remember all the places where I have duplicated the code whenever I want to update it

• Generating code for service proxies

  I'm trying to generate some additional code base on the auto-generated webservice proxies in my VS2010 solution, I'm using a T4 template to do so. The problem is, automatically generated proxies are added in "Service Reference" folder but ProjectItems (files) are hidden by default and the following code does not find them in the project structure: var sr = GetProjectItem(project, "Service References"); if(sr != null) { foreach(ProjectItem item in sr.ProjectItems) { foreach(var file in item.ProjectItems) { //Services.Add(new ServiceInfo { Name = file.Name }); } } } The above code runs and although service reference is found, and there are ProjectItems under that node (named by the webservice reference name), under object under that node is of type System.__ComObject and I'm not sure how to progress. Any help is appreciated.

  In Visual Studio 2008 (and others) when creating a .NET or silverlight application if you look at your project properties, it seems like you can only have one assembly name - across all configurations. I would like to compile my application as: MyAppDebug - in debug mode and just MyApp - in release mode Does anyone know if this is possible? Edit: It seems some people are questioning the reasoning behind the question, so I'll explain a little further: I'm working on a Silverlight application which gets automatically uploaded to our test site when I to a "build solution". The trouble is, the test team are now testing the online version, whilst I work on a new one. So, I want to have a url like .\MyApp.html for the regular version that the QA team will test and then .\MyApp.html?version=debug for the current version that I'm working on.

• Finding Cities within 'X' Kilometers (or Miles)

  This may or may not be clear, leave me a comment if I am off base, or you need more information. Perhaps there is a solution out there already for what I want in PHP. I am looking for a function that will add or subtract a distance from a longitude OR latitude value. Reason: I have a database with all Latitudes and Longitudes in it and want to form a query to extract all cities within X kilometers (or miles). My query would look something like this... Select * From Cities Where (Longitude > X1 and Longitude < X2) And (Latitude > Y1 and Latitude < Y2) Where X1 = Longitude - (distance) Where X2 = Longitude + (distance) Where Y1 = Latitude - (distance) Where Y2 = Latitude + (distance) I am working in PHP, with a MySql Database. • Use Google AppEngine datastore outside of AppEngine project

  For my little framework Pyxer I would like to to be able to use the Google AppEngine datastores also outside of AppEngine projects, because I'm now used to this ORM pattern and for little quick hacks this is nice. I can not use Google AppEngine for all of my projects because of its's limitations in file size and number of files. A great alternative would also be, if there was a project that provides an ORM with the same naming as the AppEngine datastore. I also like the GQL approach very much, since this is a nice combination of ORM and SQL patterns. Any ideas where or how I might find such a solution? Thanks.

• Vista not supporting trueSpeech!

  My web application has (server side) a wav file saved using truespeech and then a client (ie6, ie7) can ask to plat the file and the web server serves it.. All you need on xp is to have WMP 9 or higher and it all works. but on vista.. suddenly the vista client box can't play the file cause it doesn't support truespeech (some upgrade!) anyone has an idea of what should I do? You can suggest a way to make it work on the client (but in general, I don't like having to say that the solution includes installing anything on the client box) you can suggest I don't save the server side file in truespeech, and instead use something else (what?)

  Hi, I have a MS SQL view that I want to make available as a CSV download in my ASPNET Web Forms app. I am using Entity Framework for other views and tables in the project. What's the best way to enable this download? I could add a HyperLink whose click handler iterates over the view, writes its CSV form to the disk, and then serves that file. However, I'd prefer not to write to the disk if it can be avoided, and that involves iteration code that may be avoided with some other solution. Any ideas?

Feel free to write the solution in any language you want; I can translate it into what I'm using (Javascript). EDIT: My line segment is defined by two endpoints. So my line segment AB is defined by the two points A (x1,y1) and B (x2,y2). I'm trying to find the distance between this line segment and a point C (x3,y3). • Online Image Slideshow Question. File Access Problems.

  Hi, I have a flash .swf file that I embed on my webpage. On my server I have the .swf file and multiple image folders. I would like to load every file in one of those folders into the flash slideshow. How should I go about doing this? I tried used Air but it doesn't work on my system as an application so I doubt it will work online. Eventually I plan on making a menu where you can select different folders to display and since they are of different sizes, a foreach loop would be optimal. Keeping a txt file with the number of images is also possible if theres a way to read that in, but I would prefer the more dynamic approach. I am working towards using php for the website if that helps find a solution. Thanks, -Mike Also my slideshow works great online currently but i have to hardcode in the number of files.

• schema for storing different varchar fields over time?

  This app I'm working on needs to store some meta data fields about an entity. The problem is that we can already foresee that these fields are going to change a lot in the future. I'm using Hibernate (in ColdFusion) and each entity's properties are translated to one column in the entity table, but altering table columns later down the raod will be costly and error-prone right? Should I go for something like this? MetaDataField ----- metaDataFieldID (PK), name FieldValue ---------- EntityID (PK, FK), metaDataFieldID (PK, FK), value [varchar(255)] Is this common? Anything to watch out for? p.s. I also thought of using XML on SQL Server 05+. After talking to some ppl, seems like it is not a viable solution 'cause it will be too slow for doing certain query for reporting purposes.

• How do I copy input from one textbox to another via checkbox using jQuery?

  I'm cleaning up a simple form that has a Start Date textbox and an End Date textbox. I want to add a checkbox in between these fields that the user can check if the End Date is the same as the Start Date, so when they check it, the Start Date input value (e.g., 04/01/09) will automagically appear in the End Date textbox, so they don't have to type in the same date twice. Does that make sense? BTW, I'm using the sexy jquery datepicker UI, and it's sweet, but I just can't figure out the above problem. I know there's a simple solution (event handler?) but I'm stumped.

I am using addthis sharing buttons. I just noticed they introduced a social sign in solution. The idea seems great, you integrate your authentication system with their service once, and your users can login via all of the popular social networking sites. • Syncing with Address Book: Last modified property in ABPerson/ABRecord

  I'm syncing data from the Address Book into a Core Data database and I've nearly got it working perfectly. The only issue remaining is checking for changes and modifications on startup and reflecting the changes inside Core Data. Currently, I simply check the ID of each ABRecord and see if it is already in Core Data. Of course, this only works in the case of new contacts and not changed information inside an existing contact. One solution would be to go through each contact already in the database and check each property against the Address Book. The down side of this is that it's really slow. One method that would work is if the ABRecord had a last modified date. I could then store the date inside the Core Data database and check on startup to see if I need to update the contact. However, I can't find anything like this in the documentation. Any ideas?

On FF/Chrome it goes weel, and submit the form after file selection, but I can't do this on ie. Already tried with click/propertychange but nothing happens. • URLs with query stripped of ampersands appearing in error logs

  I've noticed a curious phenomena popping up in my error logs recently. If, as the result of processing a form, I redirect my users to the URL http://www.example.com/index.php?foo=bar&bar=baz, I will see the following two URLs in my log http://www.example.com/index.php?foo=barbar=baz http://www.example.com/index.php?foo=bar&bar=baz The first one is obviously incorrect and will cause my application to redirect to a 404. It always appears first, usually a second before the second one. The 404 page is not doing the redirection, so it appears that the browser is trying both versions. At first, looking at my server logs made me believe it affected only Firefox 3.6.3, but I've found an example of Safari being afflicted as well. It happens fairly intermittently, though it can occur multiple times in a users' session. I've never been able to get it to happen to me. Any thoughts as to the nature of the problem or a solution?

• If terminating a hung thread is a good idea, how do I do it safely?

  My Delphi program relies heavily on Outlook automation. Outlook versions prior to 2007-SP2 tend to get stuck in memory due to badly written addins and badly written Outlook code. If Outlook is stuck, calling CreateOleObject('Outlook.Application') or GetActiveObject ... doesn't return and keeps my application hanging till Outlook.exe is closed in the task manager. I've thought of a solution, but I'm unsure whether it's good practice or not. I'd start Outlook with CreateOleObject in a separate thread, wait 10 seconds in my main thread and if Outlook hangs (CreateOleObject doesn't return), offer the user to kill the Outlook.exe process from my program. But since I don't want to force the user to kill the Outlook.exe process, as an alternative I also need a way to kill the new thread in my program which keeps hanging now. Is this good practice? How can I terminate a hanging thread in Delphi without leaking memory?
