• Simple Java question

  Hi All I new to java so bare with me if this is a ridiculously simple question but I am curious about this method call which has {code} being taken in - see code below for an example in the method addSelectionListener. What is the purpose of this? • Create custom component based on LinearLayout, declaring layout in XML

  I've been trying to create a Compound Control in Android 1.5 (as described here) but havn't been able to find any good examples on how to do this using an XML file to specify a layout. I'm fine with creating an Activity and then loading an xml file using the following in the constructor: setContentView(R.layout.main); However, I want to do this in subclass of LinearLayout - so I can use this compound component in other XML layouts. Something along the lines of: public class CustomView extends LinearLayout { public CustomView(Context context) { super(context); setupView(); } public CustomView(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); setupView(); } public void setupView() { setContentView(R.layout.custom); // Not possible } } What is the correct way of going about doing this?

  I am working on a twitter based app and am trying to incorporate Android's built-in Account support for Twitter. The following code works to popup the confirmation dialog for my app to access twitter but I am unsure of what to pass in as the authenticationType. Any help would be appreciated. I've googled all over the place and can't seem to find the correct answer. It goes in place of "oauth" below. • iPhone CGContext: drawing two lines with two different colors

  I am having some troubles using the CGContext with an iPhone app. I am trying to draw several lines with different colors, but all the lines always end up having to color, which was used last. I tried several approaches I could think of, but haven't been lucky. I set up a small sample project to deal with that issue. This is my code, I use in the drawRect method. • Enable editing does not call didSelectRowAtIndexPath ??

  Hi I have a UITableViewController where the user should be able to edit the items. In order to enable editing i use this : self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; And for everyone, how does not know where self.editButtonItem comes from, it is predefined by the SDK. So, now when I press on any item, this method is called : - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath but as soon as I hit the edit button and while editing is active, this method does not seemed to be called. Any idea what I missing ? One of my concerns is if an error occurs when executing the query the cmd.dispose line will never execute. Does that mean it will continue to use up memory that will never be released?

  I've been using the following approach to create components and return values from Swing to/from outside the EDT.   I'm tying to use one database call and reuse that data for other controls - without having to do another call. Scenario: I call the books table which returns all the authors and titles. I create an author's list control called list1 to displays all the titles by Shakespeare and a list2 to display titles by Charles Dickens.   I am using CastleProject ActiveRecord and I use lazy load feature of this ORM. In order to make lazy load work, it is required to create SessionScope. I do this in Program.cs: public static SessionScope sessionScope; private static void InitializeActiveRecord() { ActiveRecordStarter.Initialize(); sessionScope = new SessionScope(); } This works fine for loading, however, when I try to save my objects, I get an exception saying "Illegal attempt to associate a collection with two open sessions". • Common views in viewControllers - Code re-usability

  I have few common views in most of my viewControllers. What I noticed is that I can reuse single code for all viewControllers which is absolutely wise. For this I decided to create a class Utils which has static methods like +(void)createCommonViews:(float)yAxis:(NSString*)text; In my case common views are three labels and two images. Problem : I am not able to add these views from Utils. I am wondering how can I send self as a parameter so that I may add the views from Utils. It may be wrong to add views outside the viewController. In that case what can be the solution? Taking all these views in a UIView, setting return type of Utils method as UIView and then adding UIView to viewController(after calling method from viewController) might solve my problem. But what I am looking for is some other solution. Thanks, Nitish

  I'm making a video game, and I need to add an image to a JPanel and then add that JPanel to a JFrame. All of the tutorials I've seen say to add it to a JLabel, but the image needs to be able to move around. Unless you can move a JLabel around, I can't do that. How would I be able to add an Image directly to a JPanel.   I'm using testng to run selenium based tests in java. I have a bunch of repeated tests. Generally they do all the same except of test name and one parameter. I want to automate generation of it. I was thinking about using factory. Is there a way to generate tests with different name? What would be the best approach to this? As for now I have something like below and I want to create 10 tests like LinkOfInterestIsActiveAfterClick @Test(dependsOnGroups="loggedin") public class SmokeTest extends BrowserStartingStoping{ public void LinkOfInterestIsActiveAfterClick(){ String link = "link_of_interest"; browser.click("*",link); Assert.assertTrue(browser.isLinkActive(link)); } } My xml suite is auto-generated from java code. test names are crucial for logging which link is active, and which one is not.
