• GMail, IMap and Outlook: Speeding it up?

  I finally set up Outlook to use GMail and IMAP, but unfortunately, it's extremely slow. The reason, I think for this is because I have 14300 emails in my inbox. And I have no intention to delete them. So, my questions are: Is there a way to archive old messages, in order to speed things up? Any other suggestions on how I can speed it up? Note: It's only really slow when I click on "Send and Receive". The actual synchronization is what takes forever.

• Adding a jar file to CLASSPATH is still not executable

  Perhaps I just don't understand how the whole CLASSPATH environment variable works when trying to find .jar files on your system. I thought if you specified it, you could launch .jar files with java in much the same way that you can launch executables that are on your path. I have an executable java archive (.jar file) on my system, that I stuck in /usr/local/bin/gatk/. I added this to my CLASSPATH via: export CLASSPATH=/usr/local/bin/gatk/GenomeAnalysisTK.jar I thought this would make the .jar file visible to my JVM. When I try to invoke it with java -jar GenomeAnalysisTK.jar #Error: Unable to access jarfile .gatk/GenomeAnalysisTK.jar I can invoke it setting the absolute path, e.g. java -jar /usr/local/bin/gatk/GenomeAnalysisTK.jar, however I'd rather not type the full path each time. I have read many of the linked tutorials but somehow I don't seem to be getting this right and I can't understand what I am doing wrong.

  I have mirrored the ubuntu archive repository (I must say it's rather huge). Then, I can apt-get install with no problem, but it prompts with following warning: WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated! xxxx, xxxx, ... Install these packages without verification [y/N]? Well, you can always install it. But, I can't install from the ubuntu software GUI. Which require trusted source. So, 1. How to force the GUI to install untrusted package? 2. Should I configure GPG to receive some public keys? (I've already installed ubuntu-keyring, debian-keyring, but it still untrusted) 3. Should I configure GPG to receive unknown keys from some specific keyservers, automatically?

• How do you manage Labeled and All-Mail unread mails in Thunderbird with a GMail IMAP accounnt?

  I use Thunderbird with gmail via imap and do so with multiple accounts. On the gmail side I have filters that will automatically assign labels to incoming mail and archive it moving it out of the inbox. On the Thunderbird side it will see the new mail appear in the corresponding folder and the all mail folder -- that's fine but my problem is that they're both marked as unread. Since I have many accounts I use the unread mail view in Thunderbird's folder panel and what I see is both folders highlighted as unread. When I read the message in one folder the other only get marked as read I click on it and Thunderbird does another imap transaction. Is there a configuration that will recognize the same mail in two different folders automatically?

  My company is serving up deep-zoom maps. We have 100'000s jpg images being served up and was wondering if output caching would be the way to go. Our problem is latency on serving the images. I was wondering if i output caching would indeed improve latency and a general explanation about output caching. • Maven not setting classpath for dependencies properly

  OS name: "linux" version: "2.6.32-27-generic" arch: "i386" Family: "unix" Apache Maven 2.2.1 (r801777; 2009-08-06 12:16:01-0700) Java version: 1.6.0_20 I am trying to use the mysql dependency in with maven in ubuntu. If I move the "mysql-connector-java-5.1.14.jar" file that maven downloaded into my $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext/ folder, everything is fine when I run the jar. I think I should be able to just specify the dependency in the pom.xml file and maven should take care of setting the classpath for the dependency jars automatically. Is this incorrect?   What is needed in the tfs 2010 build agent, to build .net 4.5 projects, in tfs 2008 we had to set the MSBuildPath property, but the configuration seems to be different in 2010. I get the following error message. (614): The imported project "C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v11.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" was not found. Confirm that the path in the declaration is correct, and that the file exists on disk. • Debian on Hyper-V

  I installed Debian with kernel 2.6.32-5-686 on a Hyper-V virtual machine. I had to add a legacy network card. I follow this tutorial http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?ref=Internal&from=ru&to=en&a=http://blogs.technet.com/b/abeshkov/archive/2011/03/17/hyperv_5f00_debian.aspx to add Hyper-V driver but when I reboot with the new kernel it crash during bootup. Is there any other way to load hyper-v drivers? I really need to change that legacy network card because my debian machine is going to be used as proxy. Thank you.

• Java Applet Deployment, ClassNotFoundException (primary class)

  This is driving me up the wall. I have checked and rechecked spelling and paths. I have tried just about every combination of paths, including relative, absolute, and full http paths. I continue to get the following error when trying to load a Java applet: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: AppletClient.class at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2ClassLoader.loadCode(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager.createApplet(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager$AppletExecutionRunnable.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: AppletClient.class The HTML used to load the applet: <applet width="100" height="100" archive="applet/myapplet.jar, applet/applet_dependency.jar" code="AppletClient.class"> <param value="blahblah" name="username"> <param value="false" name="codebase_lookup"> </applet> The applet is in a relative directory, "applet", from the path of the current page. I have unzipped the jar file and can see AppletClient.class. Also, in the source of the project, it is spelled that way (casing and all). I have tried with/without the parameters. I have changed the names of the archive jars in the applet include tag just to see if I get a different error for bad file names (same error). I have manually done GETs on the jars to make sure the server is responding to the requests (it is). I have tried with and without the codebase tag, with all different varieties of paths (start getting bad "magic number" errors on those). I know that this error sometimes pops up when a dependency fails to load, so it can be misleading, but all dependencies are present, accounted for, and are fetchable via manual GETs. Between each and every attempt I always clear my cache in FireFox. These problems are reproduced in IE8 and Chrome as well. Per my Java Console from the browser, I am running Java Plug-in 1.6.0_20. This is from the same machine that I develop the applet on, which runs fine via Eclipse. Finally, I kicked on Fiddler2, and I don't see a single request for the jar files anywhere The host site is running from my Visual Studio debugger, so it's running on localhost. But I see the requests for all the other resources on Fiddler. Just... no Jars. ANYWHERE. I clear the log, cleared my browser cache, and did a ctrl-R refresh. And still, not a single Jar request on the Fiddler log. I even did a delayed write (with JS) of the applet tag after the page loaded, once all the Fiddler activity slowed down. The element gets written to the document (and I can see the 100x100 Java error window), but not a single request shows up on Fiddler. Any suggestions, before I go crawl into the corner and cry myself to sleep? • '0' inserted when cross-referencing numbered equations in MSWord 2007

  I am inserting numbered equations using tables and multi-level lists as described in http://blogs.msdn.com/b/microsoft_office_word/archive/2006/10/20/equation-numbering.aspx I want to cross-reference the equations in my text. To do so I go to Insert-Cross reference and among the "Numbered Items" I pick the equation I wish to refer to. The problem is that if I pick the "Insert reference to" as "Paragraph number" a zero is always inserted into my text. The surprising thing is that the hyperlink in the cross-reference points to the correct equation. Also if I choose "Insert reference to" as "Page number" then the correct page numbers are inserted and they are correctly updated too.

• Executed PHP files are stale unitl "touched" (Symlinked NFS mount as web root)

  We have a PHP application that has 3 web servers (running Nginx and Apache). The web server's directory root are symlinked directories that point to an NFS mount. For example: web01 has an NFS mount at /data/webapp, which is symlinked to /home/webapp. Apache serves content from /home/webapp/www. We also use ACP for our PHP opcode cache. When we deploy code, we SCP an archive file to the NFS server and extract it. Since upgrading RedHat 6, when we deploy our code the webserver execute "stale" PHP files until touch is run on the PHP files. We thought that APC might be causing a problem, but the issue exists, even after clearing the opcode cache. Any ideas on how to diagnose why the stale PHP code is being executed?

• Makefile fails to install file correctly, installing HPL

  I started installing HPL a while ago, and had a related question. I've been following along with this guide from Intel. I figure this warrants a whole new one. When I try to make the archive, the output seems fine until the end, where it gives an error. make[2]: Entering directory `/hpl-2.0/src/auxil/intel64' Makefile:47: Make.inc: No such file or directory make[2]: *** No rule to make target `Make.inc'. Stop. make[2]: Leaving directory `/hpl-2.0/src/auxil/intel64' make[1]: *** [build_src] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/hpl-2.0' make: *** [build] Error 2 Going to the directory /hpl-2.0/src/auxil/intel64 shows a file, "Make.inc", but it's highlighted red, and the white text blinks. Is there a way to manually make that file? What do I need to do to get the makefile to do this for me?

  My client utilizes Plesk (9.X) for Server Management. We're implementing a custom backup solution, which should include a complete restorable representation of the actual Plesk configuration (Emails, Domains, etc.). We have full access, since it is a dedicated server resembling these steps: Plesk offers some backups, but they do not include the actual content of the (sub-)domains. Browsing the docs and the internet, I haven't found much ideas on that problem. Our target is to have a disaster recovery scenario: Reinstall a clean OS (Ubuntu) from scratch. Install MySQL/PHP and dependencies (since this runs the app) Install a bare plesk Restore all domains + plesk configuration from an archive Continue operations ... Now steps 1, 2, 3 and 5 are trivial. But what are the best practices for step 4? A side questions: Are there any easy-to-use open source apps out there, to create and restore server-images (even on machines with an possible different hardware)? Thanks for your time and input.

• Set up simple reverse proxy using IIS

  I would like to reverse proxy my Jira installation on a Windows server 2008 machine. Jira is running under: http://jira.domain.com:8080/ and is accessible as such. The machine also runs IIS for hosting several ASP.NET websites. I followed instructions here: http://blogs.iis.net/carlosag/archive/2010/04/01/setting-up-a-reverse-proxy-using-iis-url-rewrite-and-arr.aspx and installed URL rewrite and ARR. I now have a “Web farm” node in my IIS instance but I’ve got no idea on how to proceed. I tried adding some rules but this made the rest of my IIS websites stop responding. Is there a simple way to say: 1. Forward http://jira.domain.com to http://localhost:8080 2. Ignore other domains and route them as usual Any help is greatly appreciated!

• After updating debian lenny, ps stops recognising my users

• System-install-packages missing

  i am using RedHat Enterprise Linux 5.1. When i use add-remove software in application menu, i think, that i wrongly uninstalled something. so after reboot that menu item missing. Also i can't use system-install-packages in terminal. When i double click rpm package it open as archive. And i specifically open it as software installer by open with other application, it saying error /usr/bin/system-install-packages missing. Help me to solve this problem ...

• Viewpoint gem and Exchange resource account

  Hi- I'm trying my hand at using the Viewpoint gem (by zenchild @ github) as the base for a meeting scheduling system. It's great at reading calendar information from regular Exchange 2007 accounts, but I got stuck trying to change the SOAP request header to allow me to read resource accounts as a delegate. I came across http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mstehle/archive/2009/06/16/exchange-api-team-blog-exchange-impersonation-vs-delegate-access.aspx and it seems to be what I need, and I have the feeling I'm on the edge of getting it working, but I'm just not quite there yet as a ruby programmer. • Adding Thunderbird-stable repository gives "can't find signing_key_fingerprint" error

  I'm trying to install Thunderbird 11 on Kubuntu 10.04. I was able to do it on the machine I'm working on. To get a clean process that I can roll out to other clients, I re-installed the machine and repeated the process. This is what I did (I've left out the sudo for clarity): add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-security/ppa apt-get update add-apt-repository ppa:mozilla-team/thunderbird-stable The last one resulted in this error: Error: can't find signing_key_fingerprint at https://launchpad.net/api/1.0/~mozilla-team/+archive/thunderbird-stable The machine as it was before re-installation gave no such message. It was built from the same sources. Bottomline: I got Thunderbird 11.0 to run on Kubuntu 10.04 but after re-installation, adding the repository gives an error and won't add. Is there a way to solve the signing_key_fingerprint error?

• Group policy to disable notifications of particular errors?

  How do i disable the notifications of particular errors? A little background to my issue. During the installation of the Kaspersky, it disables all the windows firewall for all except the domain. I have remedied this by creating an offline policy in Kaspersky which enables the Kaspersky firewall when out of the office (ie not connected to the office network). The problem now is that users in the office now see a notification showing that the firewall is disabled even though it’s enabled in all scenarios. It’s just that work and home show as disabled when the clients are connected to the office LAN. • IIS Reverse Proxy support for multiple protocols

  I have a server 2012 machine running IIS. It's in my DMZ and I would like to use it to do reverse proxy for several services. I can get it to route traffic on port 80 to 2 separate internal servers running web apps but there are some issues when I try to forward SSH (not port 80/443) and then when I try to forward OWA (Micrsoft exchange's 'webmail' services) to the internal mail server I run in to issues with guides (like this: http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/07/19/reverse-proxy-for-exchange-server-2013-using-iis-arr-part-1.aspx) when they say to have all traffic forwarded to the server farm created for OWA. My question for you all is this - given that there is no more Threat Management Gateway (only runs on server 2008) and ISA 2006 is also dead - is it possible to support multiple types of reverse proxies with different protocols (ftp, ssh, web, ssl-web) in IIS, or would it be better to install a different DMZ OS like a nginx server and use linux firewalls + nginx reverse proxy? • Capture documents in bitonal, or grayscale then downsample

  I'm about to embark on a document archival process. I'm going to spend a lot of good money to archive some paper (actually microfiche) to TIFF images. I have a choice of 300-dpi bitonal (2-bit, black/white) or 300-dpi grayscale (8-bit). Cost is the same for either format. Data volume (and thus image size) is not a factor. It seems to me that the grayscale, since scanned at the same resolution as the bitonal, would always contain more information and could always be downsampled to the equivalent bitonal image. Are there any downsides to selecting grayscale, and then later downsampling to bitonal if desired? In other words, is it possible that the scanning software will perform a more accurate (or more legible) representation than a grayscale image converted to bitonal?

• SQL Query fields change to uppercase on upload to server.

  Hi There, I have just finished developing an app using CodeIgniter. When I upload it to my Host (Hostgator shared) some of the SQL text is converted to uppercase and rendering the app unusable. In my database I have two tables client and transaction. When I upload the App to the server client and transaction is replaced with all caps. Obviously this is bad as MySQL queries are case sensitive. At first I was uploading with FTP and thought FTP was to blame. I then zipped up the app and uploaded the archive, unpacking it on the server shell. Still no joy. Any ideas on how to fix this? At the moment I just have to go into the server and edit my queries back to lowercase.. Cheers in advance for any ideas.. --Conor

  No matter which mirror I use, I get this error. I've tried a few times over the last several weeks. Update: I ran as administrator, changed the install directory to C:\KDE, and ignored this error, and it seemed to install, but then gave me a different error, same file: Error --------------------------- Internal Error - File C:/Temp/KDE/libopensp-vc100-1.5.2-bin.tar.bz2 does not exist --------------------------- Cancel But now programs seem to work! Should I just ignore this error? I can't even find a plain English explanation of what libopensp is.

[email protected] 's password: While the ftp password is correct. Finally, the commands git clone ssh :/ / [email protected] /. Git and git clone ssh :/ / [email protected] / ~ / forumdesthinktanks.git do not work (until the terminal's time out). I'm using a terminal from my Mac.
