  • Focus on textbox based on URL.

    - by Cameron
I have two forms on one page and want to have the input boxes focused based on the URL. So for example: domain.com/Default.aspx#login and domain.com/Default.aspx#register and the javascript I have this: window.document.getElementById('<%=txtUserName.ClientID %>').focus(); window.document.getElementById('<%=txtEmail.ClientID %>').focus(); it might be better if the urls are Default.aspx?action=login actually (not sure if this effects the way in which it would work)

  • Google image Swirl - interactive information visualization

    - by skyde
I have seen this image swirl effect on a visual thesaurus. Is there any open source code for this? Or research paper explaining how they made it. I don't care about the algorithm to match similar objects. I only am wondering about the effects. From what i understand they are called recursive orbital diagram. • CSS3 new features...whats the point?

    - by benhowdle89
I've been reading a lot of ways recently of how to avoid having to use Photoshop for things like gradients and shadows on buttons, when you can use CSS3 Box Shadow for such features. Now this is great, but obviously legacy browsers and most IE browsers don't yet implement CSS3 features, so my question is, why save yourself extra work in Photoshop when you can use CSS3 but then HAVE to use Photoshop for other browsers to see the desired effects? Isn't that just extra work?

  • Is it possible to use Boehm garbage collector only for the part of the program?

    - by bialix
I've read article in LinuxJournal about Boehm-Demers-Weiser garbage collector library. I'm interesting to use it in my library instead of my own reference counting implementation. I have only one question: is it possible to use gc only for my shared library and still use malloc/free in the main application? I'm not quite understand how gc checks the heap so I'm worrying about performance of gc in that case and possible side effects.

  • WPF: Is VerticalAlignment inherited by nested containers?

    - by zxcvbnm
I'd like to have the nested containers inherit that property, but when I set it in the outermost one I'm not sure if it's working. It either is working but I'm not getting the results I want, or maybe I'd have to set up a property somewhere for it to carry. Assuming that a) it is possible to do it and b) I'd have to change a property somewhere, would that have any side effects I should be aware of?

  • Can Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package be freely redistributed

    - by luc
I am planning to use py2exe to make an application developped with Python 2.6. It seems that my app need the VC redistribuables : http://www.py2exe.org/index.cgi/Tutorial#Step5 I've read this tutorial and the redistribuables license agreement and I am not sure if I can freely redistribute these files with my program. (I don't have VS2008 license) Can I bundle the redistribs into an installer and make the installation transparent for the user or do they have to download the files by their own from Microsoft website? Thanks in advance

  • Seeking jQuery-based transition library

    - by justSteve
I'm looking for a library (or plugin) that help me create a slideshow where (besides the simple ordering of images) I'm able to define the beginning and ending positions (either X/Y, or Zooms) for a given image and the plugin animates the intervening steps between them. Flash has a number of tools/libs like this, i'm sure jQuery has seen similar. Ideally something that offers a range of easing effects as well. I understand these elements are native to jQuery...i'm looking for a time-tested wrapper. thx

  • Naming conventions for complex getters in Java

    - by Simon
Hi there! I was reading this C# article about the usage of properties and methods. It points out why and when to use properties or methods. Properties are meant to be used like fields, meaning that properties should not be computationally complex or produce side effects I was asking myself how you could express this difference in Java, where you only use getters for the retrieval of data. What is your opinion?

  • mod_rewrite not working for a specific directory

    - by punkish
This has got me completely foxed for a couple of days now, and I am convinced that I will look stupid once I solve it, but will be even stupider if I don't ask for help now. I have mod_rewrite working successfully on my localhost (no vhosts involved; this is my laptop, my development machine), and I use .htaccess in various directories to help rewrite crufty URLs to clean ones. EXCEPT... it doesn't work in one directory. Since it is impossible to reproduce my entire laptop in this question, I provide the following details. In my httpd.conf, I have mod_rewrite.so loaded. LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so In my httpd.conf, I have included another conf file like so Include /usr/local/apache2/conf/other/punkish.conf In my punkish.conf, I have directories defined like so DocumentRoot "/Users/punkish/Sites" <Directory "/Users/punkish/Sites"> Options ExecCGI AllowOverride None Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> <Directory "/Users/punkish/Sites/one"> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride All Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> <Directory "/Users/punkish/Sites/two"> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride All Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> In ~/Sites/one I have the following .htaccess file RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /one/ # If an actual file or directory is requested, serve directly RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d # Otherwise, pass everything through to the dispatcher RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.cgi/$1 [L,QSA] and, everything works just fine. However, in my directory ~/Sites/two I have the following .htaccess file RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /two/ # If an actual file or directory is requested, serve directly RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d # Otherwise, pass everything through to the dispatcher RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.cgi/$1 [L,QSA] and, nothing works. Nada. Zip. Zilch. I just get a 404. I have determined that mod_rewrite is not even looking at my ~/Sites/two/.htaccess by putting spurious commands in it and not getting any error other than 404. Another confounding issue -- I have turned on RewriteLog in my httpd.conf with RewriteLogLevel 3, but my rewrite_log is completely empty. I know this is hard to trouble shoot unless sitting physically at the computer in question, but I hope someone can give me some indication as to what is going on. **Update: ** There are no aliases involved anywhere. This is my laptop, and everything is under the above stated Document Root, so I just access each directory as http://localhost/. Yes, typos are a big possibility (I did say that I will look stupid once I solve it, however, for now, I have not discovered a single typo anywhere, and yes, I have restarted Apache about a dozen times now. I even thought that perhaps I had two different Apaches running, but no, I have only one, the one under /usr/local/apache2, and I installed it myself a while back.

  • Paypal IPN: how get the POSTs from this class?

    - by sineverba
    I'm using this Class <?php class paypalIPN { //sandbox: private $paypal_url = 'https://www.sandbox.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr'; //live site: //private $paypal_url = 'https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr'; private $data = null; public function __construct() { $this->data = new stdClass; } public function isa_dispute() { //is it some sort of dispute. return $this->data->txn_type == "new_case"; } public function validate() { // parse the paypal URL $response = ""; $url_parsed = parse_url($this->paypal_url); // generate the post string from the _POST vars aswell as load the // _POST vars into an arry so we can play with them from the calling // script. $post_string = ''; foreach ($_POST as $field=>$value) { $this->data->$field = $value; $post_string .= $field.'='.urlencode(stripslashes($value)).'&'; } $post_string.="cmd=_notify-validate"; // append ipn command $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $this->paypal_url); //curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_VERBOSE, 1); //keep the peer and server verification on, recommended //(can switch off if getting errors, turn to false) curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, FALSE); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, FALSE); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER,1); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $post_string); $response = curl_exec($ch); if (curl_errno($ch)) { die("Curl Error: " . curl_errno($ch) . ": " . curl_error($ch)); } curl_close($ch); return $response; if (preg_match("/VERIFIED/", $response)) { // Valid IPN transaction. return $this->data; } else { return false; } } } ANd i recall in this mode: public function get_ipn() { $ipn = new paypalIPN(); $result = $ipn->validate(); $logger = new Log('/error.log'); $logger->write(print_r($result)); } But I obtain only "VERIFIED" or "1" (whitout or with the print_r function). I just tried also to return directly the raw curl response with return $response; or return $this->response; or also return $this->parse_string; but everytime I receive only "1" or "VERIFIED"....... Thank you very much

  • What are the differences between these?

    - by Amit Ranjan
What are the differences between the two queries? SELECT CountryMaster.Id FROM Districts INNER JOIN CountryMaster ON Districts.CountryId = CountryMaster.Id SELECT CountryMaster.Id FROM CountryMaster INNER JOIN Districts ON Districts.CountryId = CountryMaster.Id Please mind the i) Table positions and second ii) On Fields As I know, output will be same. But I want to know, is there any drastic effects of the same if I neglect positions of tables and columns in complex queries or tables having tons of data like thousands and lakhs of rows...

  • MySQLDump without locking the tables

    - by Raul Singahn
It seems that if you have many tables, you can only perform a MySQLDump without locking them all, otherwise you can an error. What are the side effects of performing a MySQLDump without locking all the tables; Is the DB snapshot I get this way, consistent? Do I have any other alternative for getting a backup of a MySQL DB with many tables?

  • Linux C++: how to profile time wasted due to cache misses?

    - by anon
I know that I can use gprof to benchmark my code. However, I have this problem -- I have a smart pointer that has an extra level of indirection (think of it as a proxy object). As a result, I have this extra layer that effects pretty much all functions, and screws with caching. Is there a way to measure the time my CPU wastes due to cache misses? Thanks!
