  I accidentally formatted my Drive D that contained all my Backups and Documents. I separated my files to my Drive D hoping I will not harm my files. Since I use Acronis Recovery to Install a new OS with some pre-installed application to my HDD I didn't realize I also formated/erase my Drive D. Now my drive D is unpartitioned. I am really in really in deep trouble and would need some urgent help, Please recommend a Software that at least can restore my Old Drive that contained my files. I'm assuming most of you think this is a duplicate of some old questions here, But I'm not looking for data recovery, I need to recover the whole partition with the files. I used to use "Recuva" but It only recovers files not the whole folders with the files in it. Please advice. Thank You!

  I have an Ubuntu installation that won't boot anymore. I asked my previous question about it here: http://superuser.com/questions/15916/ubuntu-chkdsk-equivalent Bolotov replied: As I see from your previous question you can boot Windows so you could use dskprobe from Windows XP Service Pack 2 Support Tools to make sure that fs type is correct ... but it's already correct fs type 7 is NTFS. Message "The type of the filesystem is RAW. CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives." means that windows can't determine fs type for some reason. As we see fs type is correct. To run Chkdsk on your Windows partition you can install Windows Recovery Console, boot in recovery console and check your disk. After checking the disk you will gain access to you c:\ubuntu\disks. I think you can mount your linux partition (which is in file) as usual loop-back device: mount -o loop [path to your linux-loopback-partition] But you should mount windows patrition first. So now I'd like to know: Within the recovery console I will be issuing the commands "chkdsk -r" and then "mount -o loop [path to windows partition]" and then "mount -o loop c:\ubuntu\disks", correct? I do have a ("corrupt and unreadable") c:\ubuntu\disks directory so that appears to be the correct path to the linux partition; do you know the path to the windows partition? would that be just "c:\"?

  I need a simple way of taking a comma seperated list in a cell, and providing a drop down box to select one of them. For Example, the cell could contain: 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64 And in a further cell, using Data Validation, I want to provide a drop-down list to select ONE of those values I need to do this without VBA or Macros please. Apolgies, I want this to work with Excel 2010 and later. I have been playing around with counting the number of commas in the list and then trying to split this into a number of rows of single numbers etc with no joy yet.

• Recovering data from a Silicon Image SiI3114 RAID

  I have a set of 3 disks in RAID 5 originally created with a Silicon Image SiI3114 on-board RAID controller. The old motherboard is dead. The new motherboard (which has a different raid controller) won't boot from the array. I have no reason to believe that the drives are damaged or corrupted. I'm 99% sure that the problem is that the new controller isn't compatible or I'm not setting it up properly. Is it possible to recover data from the drives using a different controller? Would a PCI card like this one allow me to read from the array again?

• how to recover data from my disk - I accidentally copied with dd an iso on it

  I wanted to create a bootable usb from an iso image and i accidentally put as the output of the dd, instead of my usb drive, one of my hard disks. The iso was 3,3 GB and my disk is 1TB! And it was almost full. Can i at least restore the data that has not been overwritten? Right now i can't even mount it. If I run my application from eclipse, with the eclipse classpath which is set by the maven eclipse plugin, all works.   I have a Microsoft Access 2003 file with various tables of data. Each table also has a duplicate of it, with the name '[original table name]_working'. Depending on the user's choices in the switchboard, the form the user choose to view must switch its recordsource table to the working table. I added the 'ByRef' keyword to the parameter just to be certain that it was passing by reference, but no dice. Hopefully someone here can tell me what I've done wrong?

  This program is meant to generate a dynamic array, however it gives an access violation error when writing when given certain dimensions. Eg: R = 6, C = 5 crashes, but then R = 5, C = 6 doesn't. In case your wondering, it isn't my homework to "fix" this broken program, this is the method we were taught in class. Also part of my assessment is to use this method, so vectors are out. • Daylight Savings Handling in DateDiff() in MS Access?

  I am fully aware of DateDiff()'s inability to handle daylight savings issues. Since I often use it to compare the number of hours or days between 2 datetimes several months apart, I need to write up a solution to handle DST. This is what I came up with, a function that first subtracts 60 minutes from a datetime value if it falls within the date ranges specified in a local table (LU_DST). Thus, the usage would be: datediff("n",Conv_DST_to_Local([date1]),Conv_DST_to_Local([date2])) My question is: Is there a better way to handle this? I'm going to make a wild guess that I'm not the first person with this question. This seems like the kind of thing that should have been added to one of the core reference libraries. Is there a way for me to access my system clock to ask it if DST was in effect at a certain date & time? • Help securing files access with htaccess and php?

  I'm working on a site that allows users to purchase digital content and have implemented a method that attempts to serve secure downloads. I'm using CodeIgniter to force downloads like this: $file = file_get_contents($path); force_download("my_file_name.zip", $file); Of course, I make sure the user has access to the file using a database before serving the download, but I was wondering if there was a way to make these files more secure. I'm using a some 8-10 letter keys to create the file paths so urls to the files aren't exactly easy to figure out... something like http://mysite.com/as67Hgr/asdo0980/uth89.zip in lieu of http://mysite.com/downloads/my_file.zip. Also, I'm using .htaccess to deny directory browsing like so: Options All -Indexes. Other than that... I have no idea what steps to take. I've seen articles suggesting username and password methods using .htaccess, but I don't understand how to bypass the password prompt that would occur using that method. I was hoping there might be a method where I could send a username and password combination using headers and cUrl (or something similar), but I wouldn't know where to start. Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

• .Net website create directory to remote server access denied

  I have a web application that creates directories. The application works fine when creating a directory on the web server, however, it does not work when it tries to create a directory on our remote fileserver. The fileserver and the webserver are in the same domain. I have created a local user in our domain, "DOMAIN\aspnet". The local user is on both servers. I am running my .Net app pool under the domain user. I have also tried using windows impersonate in the web.config to run under the domain user. I have verified that the domain user has full control to the remote directory. In an effort to debug this I have also given the "everyone" full control to the remote directory. In an effort to debug this I have also added the domain user to the administrators group. I have a simple .net test page on the web server to test this. Through the test page I am able to read the directory on the file server and get a list of everything in it. I am not able to upload files or to create directories on the file server. Here's code that works: var path = @"\\fileserver\images\"; var di = new DirectoryInfo(path); foreach (var d in di.GetDirectories()) { Response.Write(d.Name); } Here's code that doesn't work: path = Path.Combine(path, "NewDirectory"); Directory.CreateDirectory(path); Here's the error I'm getting: Access to the path '\fileserver\images\NewDirectory' is denied. • Access reading error when using class member variable

  Hi, I have a class with private member variables declared in a header file. In my constructor, I pass in some filenames and create other objects using those names. This works fine. When I try to add another member variable, however, and initialize it in the constructor, I get an access reading violation. I sent the code to someone else and it works fine on his computer. Any idea what could be wrong? • Date Picker Control Not Displaying Proper Date (Access 2003)

  Hi everyone, I just have a quick question. I am maintaining an app for my summer co-op position, and a new requirement came down today where the user requested to have a date control added to a form to mark the date of when an employee is "laid off". This control is enabled/disabled by a toggle button, and has its control source bound to a field that I added in the database. All the functionality has been added and tested, but.... The issue I am having is that the date picker is on a tab control (the 2nd page) and I am having problems trying to get the control to display the date that is stored in the field I created. I know the control is storing any changes made using it, but since the user asked to move the control over to the 2nd tab (it was on the first), it just shows today's date, not the date entered using the control. To make things a little more strange, if I place the control anywhere except the tab control, it seems to be working fine. I've even placed a textbox on the tab and set its control source to the database field, and it displays just fine. What gives? And I have registered the .ocx with Access, and as I mentioned before, the actual database is storing the data. Just not displaying it. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

• CGContextDrawImage returning bad access

  Hello guys, I've been trying to blend two UIImage for about 2 days now and I've been getting some BAD_ACCESS errors. First of all, I have two images that have the same orientation, basically I'm using the CoreGraphics to do the blending. One curious detail, everytime I modify the code, the first time I compile and run it on device, I get to do everything I want without any sort of trouble. Once I restart the application, I get error and the program shuts down. Can anyone give me a light? I tried accessing the baseImage sizes dynamically, but it gives me bad access too. Here's a snippet of how I'm doing the blending.   I have an Access database where I use a Tab control (without tabs) to simulate a wizard. One of the tab pages has an MSForms.ListBox control called lstPorts, and a button named cmdAdd which adds the contents of a textbox to the List Box. I then try to keep the contents of the ListBox sorted. However, the call to the Sort method causes a type mismatch. • In MS Access is there a way to allow forms to update while maintaning Read Only

  I have several forms linked tables via queries. The form pull data such as sales and ratios by selecting a product from the main's form's combo box. I am however having to issues: 1- I would ultimately prefer the combo box to be a free entry; however by just entering in the box and hitting enter (not a button called “enter on a screen” which would initiate recalcs, just normal enter), while it does bring the new information in sub-forms it also changes the information in the original table. If I make the table read only that it just doesn't allow the form to work by saying that the table is read only. 2- The same Read only issue occurs when another user with read only rights tries to use the database. I understand that ready only is functioning as intended, however I am wondering if there is way to make some functions work while disallowing the updating. I am unfortunately learning on the go, so go easy plz. Thank you

  Hey, So I'm inexperienced in hosting DB's and I've always had the luxury of someone else getting the db setup. I was going to help a friend out with getting a webpage setup, I've got experience in Asp.Net MVC so I'm going with that. They want to setup a search page to query a db and display the results. My question I have is in getting the DB setup and hosted. They currently just have the Access DB on a local computer. There is basically only one table that would need to be queried for the search. What is the best approach to getting this table/db accessible? They would like to keep the main copy of the db on the local machine, so copying the entire db over to the hosted site would be time consuming, could the lone table needed be solely copied to the host? Should I try to convince them to make changes on the hosted db and just make copies of that for their local machines? Any suggestions are welcome, Again I'm a total noob when it comes to hosting databases. Thanks

  hey i could really use some help with this one. I have a faq with multiple "tags" and I would like to separate and count them. They are currently in the database as follows: ID-----------------TITLE--------------CONTENT-----------TAGS Sample Records: 1---------------sampletitle 1---------amplecontent--------tag1,tag2,tag3 2---------------sampletitle 2---------moresamplestuff-----tag3,tag4,tag5 How could I go about counting the number of times each tag is used? In the end, would it be easier to just create a separate table called TAGS, with a single tag corresponding to a single ID in FAQ? The only reason I don't prefer doing something like that is because I have so much data already it would take quite a while. However, if there's no alternative or if its easier than doing string parsing like that, im willing to do it. The goal is to display each unique tag and the number of times it is used. Would it be better to do the heavy lifting in the database or ASP? I have gotten as far as getting a list of all tags and displaying them in an array (with each tag separated). So at this point what I need to do is count each value and then remove the duplicates (while preserving the count number somewhere). This is in ASP classic using an Access database. Thanks!

• Return the Column Name for row with last non-null value "Ms Access 2007"

  I have a Table, which contains a list of league players. Each season, we record their Points per Dart. Their total PPD for that season is stored in other tables and extracted through other queries, which in turn are imported to the master table "Player History" at the end of the season for use as historical data. The current query retrieves each players PPD for each season they played, when they played last, and how many seasons played. The code for Last season Played has become too long and unstable to use. it was originally created, and split into two separate columns because a single SQL was to long. (LSP1) and LSP2) which work, but as I add seasons, Access does not like the length of code. In short, i need to find a more simple code that will look at each row, and look in that row for the last non null cell and report which column that last non null value is in. So if a player played seasons 30 & 31, but did not play 32..but did play 33, the Column with the code should be titled Last Season Played, and for that Player, it would state "33" in that cell, indicating that this player last played season "33" I will provide both tables and the query.. Please help
