  • Grub os-probe showing deleted Windows installation

    I recently purchased a Dell Vostro notebook with Ubuntu Netbook edition 10.04 pre-installed. I tried adding a partition and installed Windows XP but it didn't work out due to too many partitions in the system already. Now I have restored the laptop to factory setting using Dell Utility partition and the Windows partition is completely deleted, however my grub2 still shows Windows on /dev/sda2 sudo os-probe Microsoft Windows XP Professional (on /dev/sda2) Any ideas how to remove it from grub? I know I can remove /etc/grub.d/30_os-probe but I am more interested in why os-probe is showing the deleted partition.

  • Lubuntu wireless issue with Broadcom chipset

    I'm a web dev that just started a new venture in buying wiped laptops in bulk and selling them at a low cost to lower income families that want a laptop that will simply preform and not become virus ridden and require constant maintenance, so naturally I opted for a linux distro and after some research, lubuntu was my top pick. I'm not a stranger to linux as all of my servers for my web dev business are linux, but I am however new to L/Ubuntu and I'm having some issues with both wifi (broadcom chipsets) on the 20 or so dells that I have right now, D800's, D810's and E5400's. Not sure if you can point me in a solid direction, I've scoured (and implemented) the suggestions on ask ubuntu and still coming up short.   • progressIndicator does not update till about 10 seconds after awakeFromNib occures

    I have been trying to get this one section of my UI to immediatly up date when the document loads into view. The awakeFromNib fires the pasted code and then starts a timer to repeat every 10 seconds... I load a default storage location: ~/Movies... which shows up immediately.. yet the network location that is saved in the document that gets pulled from the XML only seems to show up after the second firing of the - (void)updateDiskSpaceDisplay timer. I have set breakpoints and know that the ivars that contain the values that are being put into the *fileSystemAttributes is the network location right when the awakeFromNib occurs...     Hi I was wondering if there is any jquery function around which can take this dateTime "2010-10-18 10:06" and convert and split it returning "2010/10/18" and "10:06". It would be also nice if the same function could either receive "2010-10-18 10:06" or "2010-10-18" only and return as mentioned above, or different formats besides "2010/10/18" like 18-10-2010" or and 18th of October 2010, giving the option but not that important, just curious about jQuery power dealing with dates.     I am having some trouble getting appscript installed on OS/X 10.6.3 / Python 2.6.1. When I issue sudo easy_install appscript I get "unable to execute gcc-4.2: No such file or directory". Even when I do export CC=/Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2 (a valid gcc-4.2 executable), easy_install barks. What could be the issue? Disclaimer: OS/X newbie at the helm...

  • TTCPServer limited to 10 connections?

    I've created a TCP server NT-Service in Delphi 6, I've tried Indy components, Ararat Synapse components, and am now trying just plain old TTcpServer to see which would perform best while using the least resources. I'm surprised to see that the live instance of the service (running on Windows Server) is still limited to 10 connections! Any new connections are forcibly disconnected. Have I missed something? Do I need to set a property or override a method of TCustomTcpServer?

    I am using M2Eclipse (0.10.0, Maven 3)in projects. I can add Maven dependency using m2eclipse. But dependency jars couldn't be downloaded. Instead, it created a file in each local repo folder named [JAR_Name].jar.lastupdate. The content of this file is some thing like : http\://[REPO_URL]/central/=1276221188566 Even using Maven 3 command line. Jars couldn't be downloaded. Any idea about how could this happen?
