  I just installed openjdk6-jre on Ubuntu 10.04 java version "1.6.0_20" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.9.2) (6b20-1.9.2-0ubuntu1~10.04.1) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 19.0-b09, mixed mode) Every time I run "java" I get this error: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap Could not create the Java virtual machine. This can be solved by specifying a maximum heap size and running "java -Xmx256m" But is there anyway to permanently fix this error (i.e. set the default heap size to 256MB so that I do not need to specify the max heap size every time I run the command)

  Hello Guys, I have installed Ubuntu9.10 on VM VirtualBox, on my HP laptop. My laptop has several USB ports and also a SD card port. Unfortunately, I'm unable to access both, my pen-drive on the USB port and my 8GB SD card inserted in the SD Card port. Can anyone suggest me what I should do for my Ubuntu to detect both of them? I have installed all latest updates on Ubuntu. I'm able to use my USB mouse. Thank you Vikram

  I have updated to Windows 8 and got Internet Explorer 10, but I don't get the full screen mode, is just like another desktop app. All links on the Windows Store Apps (Bing, News...) redirect to the old desktop and open my default browser (chrome). I have set IE as default browser but that not solve the problem. I have been looking on the IE10 options but I don't see this option. How can I solve this? • Galaxy Tab 3 producing continuous LightSensor error in LogCat

  I am using a Galaxy Tab 3 as a test device for writing an android app. As such I'm interested in the output of the LogCat which is being filled with these error level messages. The device itself appears to work correctly, apps which rely on the light sensor correctly respond to it and the number in the error itself goes down if the light sensor is obscured. If I wasn't using it to develop apps I wouldn't even be aware of the issue but I believe it is an issue with the device itself not my app: simply plugging the tab 3 into the computer and using Eclipse - ADT to look at the LogCat without any app running leads to these errors being shown. I know I could filter the LogCat to ignore these errors but inconvenience aside; they concern me. A sample of the log cat is below (it generates errors continuously). This is on verbose so it includes some debug level (D/) messages as well as the error level messages (E/). • All browsers hang on windows 7 in tab says 'Waiting for...' need restart

  I'm having a frustrating problem with browsers on OS windows 7 home premium. IE 10: My web browsing works ok for a while and then pages freeze and tab at top says "Waiting for ...' and never loads. Strangely I can still get to Google search results but if I click anything it freezes. Chrome freezes too and says 'The page has become unresponsive ...kill page' Safari stops also. I have tried clearing cookies, cache, turning off Bitdefender firewall and nothing apart from a restart fixes it. consequently I am forced to restart my computer several times a day to stop this browser hang. I have no idea what could be causing this ..any help greatly appreciated.

  Hi, I have ubuntu 9.10 desktop VMware VM with the default grub2 installed. There is some weird problem with this VM. When you clone this vm and have a customization script run, the cloned machine crashes at first boot (VMware does not officially suport customizaing Ubuntu newer than 8.04). After the creash the Grub boot menu is displayed but there is not time out. I checked /boot/grub/grub.cfg and it does indeed show a timeout of 10 seconds. Nothing happens till I select an option with the keyboard. The second time the Ubuntu loads, it does not crash. My question is, how do I make the grub menu timeout in that case? Thanks.

  Hi, I have just gotten my Lenovo X200s laptop, and I am install Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic on it. The installation went through without a hitch, but I can't get my wifi to work. lspci | grep Network Produces the following results: 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82567LM Gigabit Network Connection (rev 03) 03:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.   I just installed Ubuntu 12.10 (Verified the ISO hash as well). The VERY first thing I did was open the software centre and try to install banshee.   I see a lot of stuff online related to fixing buttons that can't be pressed, and fixing network issues with proxies. This seems like a different problem to me, related to jem.util.0.0.0 in the case of maven2 or needed libs for other plugins. The setup: Eclipse 3.5.1 (Galileo) installed with apt-get. Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) (This is running as a VM, not that is should matter.) General problem description: Maven2 eclipse plugin installation fails. Specifically, I can not install maven2 plugin from the eclipse installation flow using this target site: http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/sites/m2e/ The maven site is found, installation begins, and then returns this error: Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found. Software being installed: Maven Integration for Eclipse (Required) 0.10.0.20100209-0800\ (org.maven.ide.eclipse.feature.feature.group 0.10.0.20100209-0800) Missing requirement: Maven Integration for Eclipse (Required) 0.10.0.20100209-0800 (org\ .maven.ide.eclipse.feature.feature.group 0.10.0.20100209-0800) requires 'org.eclipse.jem.\ util 0.0.0' but it could not be found Official Ubuntu documentation claims eclipse 3.5.1 support, and recommends using the Synaptic Package Manager, and nothing else about any issues. • Updating Dell Vostro 3700 (Nvidia GeForce GT330M) display driver?

  I've bought this laptop "Dell Vostro 3700", having inside an Intel integrated graphic card and an Nvidia GeForce GT330M. Depending on energy saving mode it switches between the two video cards. When I try to update the video driver (now version 189.99 on Windows 7 64-bit) with that found on Nvidia site an error message say that it cannot find compatible graphic hardware. Dell doesn't provide a newer driver version. Has anyone solved the same problem?

  First of all, I am new to Ubuntu 10.04 but it is love at first sight and the only windows I will see again are in my house and car! Each time I disconnect my Dell Studio 15 from my Dell 36" monitor, I have to reconnect through the System/Monitor protocol. Question: Is there a way to set it up so once I slide my laptop under the stand, reconnect monitor cable, 3 usb's and press start that the Monitor screen will go 'live' without having to start all over?
