• Why do users have to enter a 7-digit twitter PIN to grant my application access?

  I am implementing some ruby on rails code tweet stuff for my users. I am creating the proper oauth link...something like http://twitter.com/oauth/authorize?oauth_token=y2RkuftYAEkbEuIF7zKMuzWN30O2XxM8U9j0egtzKv But after my test account grants access to twitter, it pulls up a page saying "You've successfully granted access to . Simply return to and enter the following PIN to complete the process. 1234567" I have no idea where the user should enter this PIN and why they have to do that. I don't think this should be a necessary step. Twitter should be redirecting the user to the callback URL I provided in the application settings. Does anyone know why this is happening? UPDATE I found this article that states I need to send my users to this URL (note "authenticate" instead of "authorize"): http://twitter.com/oauth/authenticate?oauth_token=y2RkuftYAEkbEuIF7zKMuzWN30O2XxM8U9j0egtzKv I made the change but Twitter redirects the user to the authorize path after he clicks "Allow" which then gives him the 7 digit PIN again!

• What is the best tool to achieve this API design?

  Our web app offers a service that allows a "Publisher" to create a website (we give them a CMS system) that is ready to provide this service to "Members" (think Shopify). We have some possible clients that wish to become "Publishers" but they already have existing websites (vbulletin, word press blog, etc) with their own user base. We wish to develop an API that would allow these "Publishers" to keep using their own websites, and embed our services into them. Our main business requirement is that once "Members" are logged into the "Publishers" existing system, they should be able to also access our website without having to log-in again OR have to create another account there. The process should be seamless to the "Member" and "Publishers" should not have to sync their user base with our system. We also want to use an existing API authentication/authorization system instead of creating our own (OAuth, OpenID, etc) What would be the best way to use OAuth to achieve this sigle-sign on design? If OAuth is not the best tool, is there any other one out there that fits our requirements?

  Hello, I've looked at Net::Google, and 90% of the modules use AuthSub with a mandatory login/password. The right way for a web application to interact with Google applications on behalf of a customer is to use OAuth. That way, the authentication is done by Google, and the application does not know the user's password. This is supported by Net::Google::DocumentsList for example. Are you aware of modules that can work well with Picasa and Blogger, for example, using OAuth. The current Net::Google::PicasaWeb handles read-only queries, no add/remove/update actions.

  Hello! I'm trying to establish a Facebook application. I'm getting the following PHP notice randomly: Warning: fopen(http://api.facebook.com/restserver.php? … &v=1.0) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request in D:\projects........\facebookapi_php5_restlib.php on line 3391 As said, it happens randomly. My app configuration: IFrame Page host configuration: Windows Vista, Apache 2.2.11, PHP 5.1 No support for cURL is possible at the moment. My aim: Get the user's first name & pic_square along with two other preferences. If these two preferences are not set then I'll set them, after doing some internal job. I understand that the REST API is old. Which interface should I use then? Saw FQL, which seem to be fine, but I see no corresponding getUserPreference/setUserPreference interface. Where is it? How do I combine it with the "first name & pic_square" info that I need in one query? How do I read the results of multi-query query? Also, if I understand correctly, the FQL is also executed with the fopen() function, and as we see here it might fail. That means something went wrong, and then I want to handle it. Any suggestions how to do so efficiently? Less important than the above question though. Thank you all.

• How to enter text into the "Write something..." box on Facebook and click Submit

  Hello, I am trying to manipulate Facebook pages in various ways, using Javascript browser elements. I'd need to be able to insert some text into the top "Type something..." box that shows on my site's fan page (or alternately, "click into" the field and I can type the text using GUI scripting), then click the "submit" button as if i'd done it by hand. It's tricky since the page is very Ajax heavy and I can't find the names of the elements I need to manipulate, let alone how to manipulate them as they're not using traditional form fields I'm used to. Can anyone help me figure out how to do this with javascript commands, which I'd be calling from Applescript on the Mac? Many thanks in advance. UPDATE Thanks for the comments below. Believe me, I am not trying to do anything spammy or douchy, mainly posting links to products that have gone live on page facebook page, but do it during the business day when people are on rather than at strange hours of the day. I am located in Japan so my sleep period is right when people are using FB. The solution I came up with for clicking the button was got using UI Browser, an outstanding tool if you're trying to script on the Mac. • PPTP VPN on OS X and iOS failed to connect Facebook and Youtube

  Thnaks for reading. I setup a VPN server on my Buffalo WHR-HP-G300N router at Macau, and use it for access website over China Firewall when i travel in China. On Android and Windows, everything work fine, however on my Macbook Air and iPad, it is not working. I can access blocked site like badoo.com but not facebook and youtube. If i ping it at terminal, it said "ping: cannot resolve facebook.com: Unknown host". After i read this http://cp.hidemynet.com/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=26, i find i can restart my router and reboot my Macbook, and connect to VPN before any request to any blocked site so that i can successfully connect to facebook and youtube. However it works sometime but not always. It is really annoying because i need to work on VPN and my Mac, would anyone can help me to solve it? Rather than restarting my router and my Mac every time. Please HELP!!! regards

  Chrome (or any other webkit browser) throws a ton of these "Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL..." when working with the Facebook Open Graph API. It doesn't interfere with actual operation, but it does make the javascript console basically unusable. I'd like to know if there is a way to suppress warnings in the console?
