  • Google Maps rendering locally but not in live environment

    I have a page that renders a simple google map for a specified location. This map renders without any problems at all when I run it locally on localhost, however, when I deploy this code to our live web servers (using our LIVE google API key for the appropriate domain) it fails to render, and upon putting a series of alerts within the javascript on the page, it appears that the 'Initialize' method (which should be called within body onLoad) is not being called. When I view the HTML source that is rendered on the live server it appears exactly as per the local version of the site (including the call to initialize() within the body onLoad event), albeit with the different maps API key. I have output the host (alert(window.location.host);) to ensure that the key I generated via the google maps api site, corresponds exactly to the live server, which it does. Does anyone have any ideas why it would be working locally but not when deployed to the live servers? The live site is hosted on 2 load-balanced web servers.     The problem is, both Firefox and Internet Explorer have "Open in New Tab" as the second option. This has become muscle memory for me by now, to the point that I don't use as often as I want to, solely because I can't open a page in a new tab without thinking about it. Is there a way to switch the position of "Open Link in new tab" and "Open link in new window", so that I can resume browsing as normal, or am I cursed by this user interface design nightmare by Google?

  • What's the significance of this Google Apps error code '0x8004010B' ?

    There seems to be a lack of good information around this particular Google Apps error code. Has anyone found common environmental information that causes this error? Any kind of solution? Uninstalling/re-installing Google Sync doesn't seem to do anything, I've run Outlook's executable that scans/fixes the PST file etc. Task 'Google Apps - ::user email address:: - Sending' reported error (0x8004010B) : 'Unknown Error 0x8004010B' I found a listing of error codes for the Gdata API but nothing for these types of 'unknown' error codes. Does Google have available a list of common 'unknown' error codes/messages? Thanks in advance.

  • How do I get rid of phantom bookmarks in Google Chrome on Mac OS X 10.6?

    I'm running Chrome 5.0.375.38 on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and although I'm positive that when I installed it I told it NOT to import my Firefox bookmarks, it nevertheless still accessed my OLD Firefox bookmarks (including some that I deleted) when I used the location bar. HOWEVER, when I opened the bookmarks manager, it said that I have no bookmarks whatsoever. Seeking to solve this problem, I installed XMarks on both FF and Chrome, and forced Chrome to download the server bookmarks. Now Chrome lists all my current FF bookmarks, but STILL sees the old, phantom bookmarks from when I first installed Chrome in the location bar, even though when I search for these same bookmarks in the bookmarks manager they don't show up. Aargh! Any ideas? Even if there's some way to force-kill-wipeout-clean-erase ALL my Chrome bookmarks that's fine as long as it kills the phantom ones b/c I can still overwrite with XMarks. Thanks!

  • How can I synchronize Google contacts and calendar with Palm Centro and Outlook 2000?

    Seeking a free solution to synchronize my calendar and contacts between my Palm Centro and Google contacts and calendar. I currently sync my Palm contacts and calendar with Outlook 2000 on Windows XP. Google Calendar Sync does not support Outlook 2000, and I would rather not pay to upgrade Outlook just for this, as I don't even use Outlook much anymore. I wouldn't mind migrating my calendar and contacts off of it, as long as I can still sync with the Palm. I don't have an unlimited data plan for my Centro, so I can't use a solution that wirelessly syncs directly to Google. I have set up GCALDaemon to sync up my Google calendar with multiple machines running Rainlendar, but I have not yet figured out a way to synchronize that data with the Palm.

    Situation: 1. Need to Set the defualt browser to IE via cmd(problem) 2. Need to do a citrix login via IE(amounts to loading a url) beause it wont run in google chrome 3. then set default browser to chrome Environment: Windows XP, no admin priv's no admin priv's mean I can't touch registry Basic Steps I'm Doing: In a bat file: 1.Set default browser to IE 2.run a citrix SSO login via IE (not compatible with chrome) 3.Set default browser to Chrome 4.kill IE 5.live long and prosper So i have it all running except "Set default browser to IE" I can set the default browser to chome by using portable chrome's cmd line argument --make-default-browser but I can't undo that process. If I launch IE, it pops up that 'make ie default browser' window which stops the SSO process. So If I can disable that check via bat file, that would also work for me.     I'm too bored of seeing sites like Google and such show up in my native language, I would rather like them to be in English. Yet, I have to explicitly change the URL to .com and en and that kind of parameters in order for them to show up in English. Can I somehow force this? So, how is Google configured? However, it is set to English on the site itself so it has to be my browser: Then, how does my browser land up on non-english pages, like Google?   • How to download big file with chrome on Mac OSX?

    If I try to download a big file on unstable connection/server (XCode 4) Google chrome simply "stops" downloading on first network error so I have a first 1-2-3 gigabytes of file and chrome thinks that download is finished. Unfortunately, I need to download an entire file, so I need a more advanced download tool like a wget. But there comes a problem: most URL's currently on the web is not a direct URL but multiple "redicrect" pages that utilize complex javascript in order to generate next url and redirect browser to it. Chrome handles such things ok, but if I try to supply such URL to wget it will download some "intermediate" page as a file - not a file itself but an HTML page with complex redirect javascript. is it any way to get a direct URL from chrome or to somehow discover it so I can use it with wget? Maybe it's some avanced download manager integrated in chrome that I just need to install? I use MacOS X 10.6.6 and latest Google chrome.

    I get the following error trying to send an email to my Google Apps Email at [email protected] from my Postfix server. to=, relay=local, delay=0.09, delays=0.07/0/0/0.02, dsn=5.1.1, status=bounced (unknown user: "admin") Is there a way I can force it to not use the LOCAL relay and treat [email protected] as outside email and not look for a user in the current postfix configuration. I am trying to email the full email address "[email protected]" not only "admin". I have the Google Apps MX record on mydomain.com + SPF record which before was: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all (emailing to [email protected] used to work with that record) But I had to change it to v=spf1 a mx ip4:MY.IP.HERE include:_spf.google.com ~all

  • Change the background color of selected text in Google Docs to increase readability [migrated]

    How can I override or change the background color of text selected in Google Docs? It is difficult for me to see the difference and I would like to increase the contrast or difference. After Google restyled Google Docs last year (or earlier this year), I've been unable to see selected text. It's possible this is a visual deficiency with my eyes. In Google Docs, under both Google Chrome (17.0.963.83 (Official Build 127885) m) and Firefox (11.0), when I select text inside a Google Doc, the selected text has a background of color #d6e0f5. Compare this to the default browser background color of #2f65c0. (I determined the color of the selected text background by taking a screenshot and using the color picker tool in Photoshop). I've tested this using a brand new Firefox profile as well as google chrome profile. Here's a section of a screenshot showing the selected text : I've tried using a userscript to override the CSS to go back to the default text selection color using the "Stylish" plugin with this css : ::selection { background:#2f65c0; color:#ffffff; } ::-moz-selection { background:#2f65c0; color:#ffffff; } ::-webkit-selection { background:#2f65c0; color:#ffffff; } This code works on other sites, but I'm unable to get it to work on Google Docs. (I tested on other sites but applying the userscript to a different domain and using bright yellow instead of the default dark blue #2f65c0.) When you use Google Docs, do you have the same color background for selected text or something different? (To test this, browse to docs.google.com , create a document, type text into the document, select the text with the mouse by dragging over it, take a screenshot, load the screenshot up in an image editor and determine the background color of the selected text.) This color differential (between light blue #d6e0f5 and white #fffff) may be easy to see for others and the problem lies with my eyes.

  • What is the easiest way to copy Chrome's login/passses into KeePass without creating duplicates?

    Okey, here's the thing. I have most of my login info in two places; one is in Keepass file and the other is in Chrome. Being a lazy sort of person, and since Chrome/Keepass integration never really started to work the way it should, a couple times a year I use the Nirsoft tool to get the Chrome login/passwords into a textual .csv file and then import it in Keepass. Creating lots of duplicates in the process which I then clean and so on. In the meantime, all the new logins I accumulate just stay in Chrome. As you might notice, this is not really the best way to do it. Is there a faster way to do this; copy logins from Chrome to Keepass without creating duplicates in Keepass, or has anyone perhaps found a way to get Keepass to work with Chrome under Win XP SP3? Keepass 1.0 or 2.0, doesn't make the difference as long as it works.

    I'm trying to log in on Google Music Player application but doesn't work. I get the message below: Login Failed Could not identify your computer. Learn More On Google Help it says that it doesn't run on virtual machines, which is not my case, but I have a virtualbox installed though, and it says some people get to work if they disable their bridge network. The thing is I don't have any bridge interface, even if I remove all virtualbox modules I still get this message.     This should be totally simple but I can't get it working no matter what I try. I'm trying to use Google Analytics with GWT application. From what I understood, there are two way to do it: First is synchronous, by inserting tracking code at the end of <head> section HTML page and then calling this method: public static native void recordAnalyticsHit(String pageName) /*-{ pageTracker._trackPageview(pageName); }-*/; Second is asynchronous, by inserting tracking code just after <body> tag and then calling this method: public static native void recordAnalyticsHit(String pageName) /*-{ _gaq.push(['_trackPageview(' + pageName + ')']); }-*/; When running each of those methods, however, I get this exceptions in hosted mode: [ERROR] [myproject] Uncaught exception escaped com.google.gwt.core.client.JavaScriptException: (ReferenceError): pageTracker is not defined [ERROR] [myproject] Uncaught exception escaped com.google.gwt.core.client.JavaScriptException: (ReferenceError): _gaq is not defined When observing site in Firebug, I see that ga.js gets loaded, but that's about it. Did anyone get Analytics working with GWT? Also, does _gaq accept page name as trackPageview parameter, since all the examples I've seen use this call: _gaq.push(['_trackPageview()']); (Of course, that also doesn't work for me.)

  • Flash plugin locks up Firefox, Chrome and Safari behind a corporate proxy, IE6 works fine

    At work I am forced by corporate policy to use IE6. Obviously this is not so good so I use FF for most of my browsing. However there is a problem once I have installed the Flash plug-in - FF locks up when trying to load Flash media. Looking at the status bar at the time of the lock up it appears this happens when the browser tries to get cross domain data. The Flash Active X plug-in in IE does not suffer this issue. I have tried it in a brand new profile in FF with Flash as the only plug in and it locks up. We have 2 different proxy servers and both exhibit the same problem. I have also tried Chrome and Safari and both lock up with the plug-in installed. So, has anyone else had this problem and solved it? Or, is there any way to disable cross domain data access in the flash plug-in? Or, is there any way to disable the "This site needs an additional plug-in" ribbon which appears when the plug-in is not installed. Many thanks!

  • "Open file location" is broken for Win Live Photo Gallery and Chrome

    Symptoms: Windows Live Photo Gallery: Right clicking on an image (.jpg, .png) and selecting the context menu item "Open file location" should open the containing folder in explorer. Instead, I get an error dialog stating "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel." Chrome: After downloading a file (of any type), clicking the down arrow on the download status bar at the bottom and clicking "Show in folder" results in the same error dialog mentioned above. I'm using Windows 7. I'm pretty sure this is a registry entry gone bad but I've been unable to locate any information about this specific problem. It's not a file type association problem as I am not trying to open the files concerned, I'm trying to open an explorer window at the location for the file. I've found a similar issue that somebody had with explorer itself. However, the suggested registry fixes here for "Folder", "Directory" and "Drive" did not solve the problem. Also, If I use the searchbar in explorer to do a search, right click on a file and choose "Open file location", explorer jumps to that location without any trouble. I have not yet identified other programs with this issue.
