  • LNK2005: delete already defined error in VC++

    Hi, I am newbie to VC++, so please forgive me if this is stupid. I have got 7 solutions under one project. Six of these build static libraries which is linked inside 7th to produce an exe. The runtime configuration of all the projects is MultiThreaded Debug. sln which is used to produce exe is using MFC other slns use standard runtiem library. I tried changing those to MFC, but still I am getting the same error. All the six slns build successfully. When I try to build exe - get the follwoing error: nafxcwd.lib(afxmem.obj) : error LNK2005: "void __cdecl operator delete(void *,int,char const *,int)" (??3@YAXPAXHPBDH@Z) already defined in tara_common.lib(fileStream.obj) This is weird because tara_common is one of the libs that I generated and fileStream.cpp is file that is just using delete on a pointer. I built it in verbose mod, so I am attaching the output.     Hi Guys, I'm currently trying to get flip to work with scatterview items, and I'm having some trouble conceptually with it, using a plugin called Thriple (http://thriple.codeplex.com/). Essentially, a 2 sided thriple control looks like this: <thriple:ContentControl3D xmlns:thriple="http://thriple.codeplex.com/" Background="LightBlue" BorderBrush="Black" BorderThickness="2" MaxWidth="200" MaxHeight="200" > <thriple:ContentControl3D.Content> <Button Content="Front Side" Command="thriple:ContentControl3D.RotateCommand" Width="100" Height="100" /> </thriple:ContentControl3D.Content> <thriple:ContentControl3D.BackContent> <Button Content="Back Side" Command="thriple:ContentControl3D.RotateCommand" Width="100" Height="100" /> </thriple:ContentControl3D.BackContent> </thriple:ContentControl3D> What I'm struggling to grasp is if I should be making 2 separate ScatterView templates to bind to the data I want, and then each one would be the "front" and "back" of a scatterview item OR should i make 2 separate ScatterView items which are bound to the data I want, which is then bound to the "back" and "front" of a main ScatterView item? If there is a better way of using doing flip animations with ScatterViewItem's, that'd be cool too! Thanks!

  • Microsoft Charting Histogram Zero With Line

    I am currently developing an application that uses chart control to create a histogram. The histogram displays data correctly however I would like to center the data. Right now the Min and Max are automatically set. I would like the graph to always force its to be displayed symmetrically. Here is an example of what I'm trying to accomplish. Basically I would like it to look like a normal distribution graph. Does anyone know how I can do the the following: Get the graph to be displayed symmetrically? Always show a zero line.     I was testing Windows 8 release preview and came across several bugs. One of my friends suggested letting Microsoft know through Microsft Connect. So I went to this web site: connect.microsoft.com I don't think that I'm a stupid person. I'm pretty good at figuring software and websites out, but this one beats me.... So I click on the "Products currently accepting bugs" link and get a long list of products. First off, most of those names is something that I've never heard before. Then I try searching the page for Windows 8 and ... find nothing :) Can someone explain in one or two sentences how to submit bugs to Microsoft?

  • simpletest - Why does setReturnValue() seem to change behaviour depending on if test is run in isola

    I am using SimpleTest version 1.0.1 for a unit test. I create a new mock object within a test method and on it i do: $MockDbAdaptor->setReturnValue('query',1); Now, when i run this in a standalone unit test my tested object is happy to see 1 returned when query() is called on the mock db adaptor. However, when this exact same test is run as part of my 'all_tests' TestSuite, the test is failing. This happens because a call to the mock's query() method does not appear to return any value - thus causing my test subject to complain and trigger an unexpected exception that fails the test. So, the behaviour of setReturnValue() seems to change depending on whether the test is run in isolation or not. I can get it to work in both a standalone and TestSuite contexts by using this instead: $MockDbAdaptor->setReturnValueAt(0,'query',1); So my immediate problem can be fixed ...but it feels like a hack. I thought if i create a new mock within a test method then why is the setReturnValue() behaviour getting affected by the context in which the test class instance is run? It feel like a bug.

    I create some dynamic report. by default, create a table with all available field and hidden by expression, therefore column hide when user want (by checkbox in aspx page) problem: my report is "right to left" therefore when hiding some column, report must shown from right, but as you know, when report render, it create table column from left, my question is how to render report from right ???? for solving this problem i create some column without data and set hidden expression != main column hidden state, therefore my problem solved but found another problem, report width!!! because page width really must 8.5in but when hiding some column, page Width not decrease and remain 15in!!! how to solve this problem ???   • How can I effectively test against the Windows API?

    I'm still having issues justifying TDD to myself. As I have mentioned in other questions, 90% of the code I write does absolutely nothing but Call some Windows API functions and Print out the data returned from said functions. The time spent coming up with the fake data that the code needs to process under TDD is incredible -- I literally spend 5 times as much time coming up with the example data as I would spend just writing application code. Part of this problem is that often I'm programming against APIs with which I have little experience, which forces me to write small applications that show me how the real API behaves so that I can write effective fakes/mocks on top of that API. Writing implementation first is the opposite of TDD, but in this case it is unavoidable: I do not know how the real API behaves, so how on earth am I going to be able to create a fake implementation of the API without playing with it? I have read several books on the subject, including Kent Beck's Test Driven Development, By Example, and Michael Feathers' Working Effectively with Legacy Code, which seem to be gospel for TDD fanatics. Feathers' book comes close in the way it describes breaking out dependencies, but even then, the examples provided have one thing in common: The program under test obtains input from other parts of the program under test. My programs do not follow that pattern. Instead, the only input to the program itself is the system upon which it runs. How can one effectively employ TDD on such a project?

  • simpletest - Why does setReturnValue() seem to change behaviour depending whether test is run in iso

    I am using SimpleTest version 1.0.1 for a unit test. I create a new mock object within a test method and on it i do: $MockDbAdaptor->setReturnValue('query',1); Now, when i run this in a standalone unit test my tested object is happy to see 1 returned when query() is called on the mock db adaptor. However, when this exact same test is run as part of my 'all_tests' TestSuite, the test is failing. This happens because a call to the mock's query() method does not appear to return any value - thus causing my test subject to complain and trigger an unexpected exception that fails the test. So, the behaviour of setReturnValue() seems to change depending on whether the test is run in isolation or not. I can get it to work in both a standalone and TestSuite contexts by using this instead: $MockDbAdaptor->setReturnValueAt(0,'query',1); So my immediate problem can be fixed ...but it feels like a hack. I thought if i create a new mock within a test method then why is the setReturnValue() behaviour getting affected by the context in which the test class instance is run? It feel like a bug.

  • Storing And Using Microsoft User Account Credentials in MS SQL Srv 2008 Database

    I'm not exactly positive how to word this for the sake of the title so please forgive me. Also I can't seem to figure out how to even google this question, so I'm hoping that I can get a lead in the right direction. Part of my software(VB.NET App) requires the ability to access/read/write a shared network folder. I have an option for the user to specify any credentials that might be needed to access said folder. I want to store these credentials given in the MS SQL Database as part of the config(I have a table which contains configuration). My concern is that the password for the user account will be unencrpyted. Yet, if I encrypt the password the VB.NET App And/Or database will be unable to use the credentials for file i/o operations unless the Password is unencrypted before use. I'm fishing for suggestions on how to better handle this situation.

  • Microsoft Training in .NET

    Hey guys, A quick question about training. My company are offering to put me through a 5 day course in .NET programming with C#, on the proviso that I work for them for a minimum 12 month period immediately after the training has been completed. IF I don't work for them for 12months I will be expected to pay them back teh cost of the training, minus the amount of months which I have stayed at the company (e.g. stay 6 months and only pay back half). The course will be $3,300 AUD - and will have no qualifications. I have been programming in C# for about 6 months, and in PHP for about 10 years - so I am getting the hang of .NET slowly but surely. Is it worth doing this? Or would I be best advised to learn from reading the MS books from Amazon for $40 and then sitting the 2 exams to get MS certified off my own back? The company are not willing to pay for my certification as well as 'they are not training me to get certified' and hence more employable... Thoughts? How do other companies deal with training? And stop people from taking off after becoming certified?

  • Eclipse doesn't see my new junit test

    I'm using eclipse to run the tests in a single junit(4) test class. The tests in the class all run just fine. Then I add an additional test and run the class through the test running in ecplise again. Only the old tests are run. The new test isn't seen by eclipse. There's no error or anything, it's just as if eclipse is looking at an old version of the test. If I run the tests using maven, everything works fine. Additionally, after I run the tests in maven, ecplipse can see and run the new test correctly. Any ideas what's going on? Any ideas how to get ecplipse's test runner to see my new test cases?

    Hello Everybody. I have a Job Table which has two interesting columns: Creation Date and Importance (high - 3, medium 2, low - 1). Job's priority calculated like this: Priority = Importance * (time passed since creation). The problem is, Every time I would like to pick 200 jobs with highest priority, I dont want to resort the table. Is there a way to keep rows sorted? I was also thinking about having three tables one for High, Medium and Low and then sort those by Creation Date. Thanks

    i'm currently working on a product that is build on microsoft stacks such as sql server, entity framework, wcf, c# and biztalk server. so recently we're running into weird issues on our production servers and now we're troubleshooting this issue. we're kind of lost. so we're looking into anti virus exclusion and cumulatives updates for biztalk server. but my question now is what's the best way to keep track of all the hot fixes? do we just check for them, i.e. google it up only when we have issues? i've googled online and found that there's a microsoft baseline analyzer tool. and the other thing is microsoft blog which is updated on a weekly basis which contains all the recent hot fixes. are there a better way or best way? thanks for my ignorant question.
