I can drag individual divs, but that is not what I want. Can a div drag child divs or do they have to be images? I am using the WalterZorn drag drop API, but am open to using any API, script or whatever.

Sorting By Multiple Conditions in Ruby

I have a collection of Post objects and I want to be able to sort them based on these conditions: First, by category (news, events, labs, portfolio, etc.) Then by date, if date, or by position, if a specific index was set for it Some posts will have dates (news and events), others will have explicit positions (labs, and portfolio). I want to be able to call posts.sort!, so I've overridden <=>, but am looking for the most effective way of sorting by these conditions. Below is a pseudo method: def <=>(other) # first, everything is sorted into # smaller chunks by category self.category <=> other.category # then, per category, by date or position if self.date and other.date self.date <=> other.date else self.position <=> other.position end end It seems like I'd have to actually sort two separate times, rather than cramming everything into that one method. Something like sort_by_category, then sort!. What is the most ruby way to do this?

How can I apply a PSSM efficiently?

I am fitting for position specific scoring matrices (PSSM aka Position Specific Weight Matrices). The fit I'm using is like simulated annealing, where I the perturb the PSSM, compare the prediction to experiment and accept the change if it improves agreement. This means I apply the PSSM millions of times per fit; performance is critical. In my particular problem, I'm applying a PSSM for an object of length L (~8 bp) at every position of a DNA sequence of length M (~30 bp) (so there are M-L+1 valid positions). I need an efficient algorithm to apply a PSSM. Can anyone help improve performance? My best idea is to convert the DNA into some kind of a matrix so that applying the PSSM is matrix multiplication. There are efficient linear algebra libraries out there (e.g. BLAS), but I'm not sure how best to turn an M-length DNA sequence into a matrix M x 4 matrix and then apply the PSSM at each position. The solution needs to work for higher order/dinucleotide terms in the PSSM - presumably this means representing the sequence-matrix for mono-nucleotides and separately for dinucleotides. My current solution iterates over each position m, then over each letter in word from m to m+L-1, adding the corresponding term in the matrix. I'm storing the matrix as a multi-dimensional STL vector, and profiling has revealed that a lot of the computation time is just accessing the elements of the PSSM (with similar performance bottlenecks accessing the DNA sequence). If someone has an idea besides matrix multiplication, I'm all ears.

Cocos2D TouchesEnded not allowing me to access sprites?

I also tried to use CGRectMake like so : CGRectMake( sprite.position.x, sprite.position.y, sprite.contentSize.Width, sprite.contentSize.Height) But I couldn't access my sprites position or height. I keep getting "sprite" undeclared when it is declared in the init method, and added to the child. Please help!! I'm sure i'm missing something really simple here.

thanks for help, ended up with this html{ position:relative; min-width:950px; height:100%; background:black url(images/GrassBG.png) repeat-y top center; font:13px "Lucida Grande",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif; } body.main{ width:950px; margin:0 auto; position:relative; } is there any way when using a div for a background image- to limit the height to only the content displayed? im putting the background image in a div because i want it centered via position:relative but the image doesnt show up unless i put a height on the div, and thats not what i want because i dont want to be able to just scroll down to the bottom of the image where theres no content ive tried putting the background image on the body css but if the browser is less than the width of the image, it just throws it over to the left and you can only see half of it- is there no way to make the background position:relative on the body? sorry if that doesnt make sense < thanks why can you not use Position:relative; on the body?

http server implentation, the page does not show properly

well, as i am doing a small project of coding an http server. the code is at http://code.google.com/p/reactor/ the current puzzle is when asked to parse a page with java script and css. As an http server it just sends a page (copied from another website) and it parsed inproperly. when a simple html page is been parse , by my firefox, it shows ok, however when parsing a more complex page(css+javascript) the page is all wired like this : ???? ????? Intelligent serial port mocks with Moq

I have to write a lot of code that deals with serial ports. Usually there will be a device connected at the other end of the wire and I usually create my own mocks to simulate their behavior. I'm starting to look at Moq to help with my unit tests. It's pretty simple to use it when you need just a stub, but I want to know if it is possible and if yes how do I create a mock for a hardware device that responds differently according to what I want to test. A simple example: One of the devices I interface with receives a command (move to position x), gives back an ACK message and goes to a "moving" state until it reaches the ordered position. I want to create a test where I send the move command and then keep querying state until it reaches the final position. I want to create two versions of the mock for two different tests, one where I expect the device to reach the final position successfully and the other where it will fail. Too much to ask?

Accelerometer Values from Android/iPhone device

I'm trying to map my movements with a android device into an OpenGL scene. I've recorded accelerometer values for a simples movement: Moving the phone (lies flat on a table) 10cm forward (+x), and then 10cm backward (-x). The problem is that this values when used to calculate velocity and position, makes only the opengl cube go forward. Seems like the negative acceleration recorded was not enough to reduce the speed and invert its movement. What can be the problem? SWT Drag and Drop support for Text widget

I've written an application recently using SWT. In one of its dialog box, I have a few widgets, one of which is Text, which is designed to support DND with other widgets. I've first added DND support for the 2 Tree widgets on the same dialog box (both drag source and drop target). Before I added DND support for that Text widget, I noticed that on Linux platform (gtk), SWT Text widget automatically get drag and drop support. That is, I can already drag from the other Tree widgets and drop on this Text (at any position to inserted there), as well as selecting and dragging any text from this Text to other Tree or Text widget. However, this is only working on Linux platform but not on Windows. The same program, if running on Windows, will not have any DND support for that Text widget (Tree widgets of course have DND support since I specifically write for them). JQuery UI popup elements not positioning correctly

I am using both JQuery UI Dialog and JQuery UI autocomplete both have the same erroneous behavior when they popup, the position is always 0,0! I have tried some different position arguments when popping up the dialog but non seems to help. Any clues? Is this a bug in the position calculation in JQuery? Or is this some css bug? Versions are 1.4.2 and 1.8.0

Div that appears behind other. How to avoid that behaivor?

Hello there... I'm using JQuery for this. The problem is that, when I drag an object from the side bar, the DIV that I'm dragging appears behind the main area, thus it looks really bad. I took a screenshot of the problem: http://i.imgur.com/Xu4GM.png The div I'm dragging has this CSS: .reporte_arrastrado{ width: 150px; height: 60px; background-color: silver; background-image: url(chart.png); background-position: left center; background-repeat: no-repeat; padding: 10px 0 10px 26px; position:relative; } And, the one that represents the main area has this CSS: #tabs{ position:relative; } That's it... I've read some answers here, and people always suggest to set the position property to relative. But, it does not work for me. Thanks for reading.

Your computer may not have enough memory to open the image, or the image may be corrupted. Restart your computer, and then open the file again. If the red x still appears, you may have to delete the image and then insert it again. If i copy the html code and try to open the word document on my local machine, it displays the image correctly. It just doesn't work when retrieving the document from the server. This happens for any images I try to add. Is there another way to add images to html-generated word documents that can be output from an asp page? Thanks.

Trouble with Unions in C program.

I am working on a C program that uses a Union. This is demonstrated below. // FILE_A.c**************************************************** int main.c(void) { CurrentPosition.position = 12345; SomeFunctionInFileB(); } // FILE_B.c**************************************************** void SomeFunctionInFileB(void) { // After the following lines execute I see all zeros in the flash memory. WriteByteToFlash(CurrentPosition.bytes[0]; WriteByteToFlash(CurrentPosition.bytes[1]; WriteByteToFlash(CurrentPosition.bytes[2]; WriteByteToFlash(CurrentPosition.bytes[3]; } Now, If I pass a long to SomeFunctionInFileB(long temp) and then store it into CurrentPosition.bytes within that function, and finally call WriteBytesToFlash(CurrentPosition.bytes[n]... it works just fine. It appears as though the CurrentPosition Union is not global. So I tried changing the union definition in the header file to include the extern keyword like this... extern xdata union { long position; char bytes[4]; }CurrentPosition; and then putting this in the source (.c) file... xdata union { long position; char bytes[4]; }CurrentPosition; but this causes a compile error that says: C:\SiLabs\Optec Programs\AgosRot\MotionControl.c:76: error 91: extern definition for 'CurrentPosition' mismatches with declaration. C:\SiLabs\Optec Programs\AgosRot\/MotionControl.h:48: error 177: previously defined here So what am I doing wrong? How do I make the union global?

I'm wondering how you'd recommend designin a class, given the fact that XNA Framework uses Struct all over the place? For example, a spite class, which may require a Vector2 and a Rectangle (both defined as Struct) to be accessed outside of the class. The issue come in when you try to write code like this: class Item { public Vetor2 Position {get; set;} public Item() { Position = new Vector2(5,5); } } Item i = new Item(); i.Positon.X = 20; // fails with error 'Cannot modify the return value of Item because it is not a variable.' // you must write code like this var pos = i.Position; pos.X++; i.Position = pos; The second option compiles and works, but it is just butt ugly. Is there a better way?

Image in absolute DIV is not positioning from containing DIV

I have a DIV with position:absolute inside another with position:relative. But the inside DIV is flowing out of the other and positioning it self based on the browser not the containing DIV. Any ideas why this is happening? Java - How to declare table[i][j] elements as instance variables?

All, I am trying to code a Connect4 game. For this, I have created a P4Game class and a P4Board class which represents the i X j dimensions of the Connect4 board. I reference those objects in other methods of this class so I need them to be instance variables. I suppose the exception is due to the fact that I have not listed the table element position[i][j] as an instance variable at the beginning of the class. my question to people here is (1) is my assumption correct, and if so (2) what would be the syntax to declare instance variables of this form? Need help with video streaming with web-embedded Windows Media Player Component

Hello, I need to be able to play a .wmv video in a Windows Media Player component on a web page starting at a particular specified point in the video right away. I can embed the component and play the video. The problem is that even if I specify the location with The PARAM “currentPosition”, the video starts to play from the beginning. This appears to be because the requested position in the video has not been loaded yet. If I wait until the video has been loaded to the requested position and refresh the page, it will then play from the requested position. It seems that the video must start loading from the requested position in order to start right away. If this is the correct way, how would I go about doing it? If it is not, what is the proper way to do it? It can obviously be done, because YouTube’s players work like this. Thank you,

jQuery's draggable grid

It looks like that the 'grid' option in the constructor of Draggable is relatively bound to the original coordinates of the element being dragged - so simply put, if you have three draggable divs with their top set respectively to 100, 200, 254 pixels relative to their parent: <div class="parent-div" style="position: relative;"> <div id="div1" class="draggable" style="top: 100px; position: absolute;"></div> <div id="div2" class="draggable" style="top: 200px; position: absolute;"></div> <div id="div3" class="draggable" style="top: 254px; position: absolute;"></div> </div> Adn all of them are getting enabled for dragging with 'grid' set to [1, 100]: draggables = $('.draggable'); $.each(draggables, function(index, elem) { $(elem).draggable({ containment: $('#parent-div'), opacity: 0.7, revert: 'invalid', revertDuration: 300, grid: [1, 100], refreshPositions: true }); }); Problem here is that as soon as you drag div3, say, down, it's top is increased by 100, moving it to 354px instead of being increased by just mere 46px (254 + 46 = 300), which would get it to the next stop in the grid - 300px, if we are looking at the parent-div as a point of reference and "grid holder". I had a look at the draggable sources and it seem to be an in-built flaw - they just do all the calculations relative to the original position of the draggable element. I would like to avoid monkey-patching the code of draggable library and what I am really looking for here is the way how to make the Draggable calculate the grid positions relative to containing parent. However if monkey-patching is unavoidable, I guess I'll have to live with it. Thanks!
