  Hi, How can I search a whole string for a specific match. It'll contain both characters with int or decimal numbers eg A12B32.25C-456D-75.E75 I'll know that this will start with A and ends with E I think I can use "^" and "$" right? but i'm bit lost in other parts to check for character and int or decimal. I'll be glad if you can give the regex and explain it a bit :). PS. D-75. is not mistyped... Thanks in advance.

  I spent like three hours trying to understant how does "(?<!^)(?=[A-Z])" works to split at tring according to capital letters i.e. string[] s = Regex.Split("TheWorldWithoutStrangers", "(?<!^)(?=[A-Z])"); How does it work !! I do understand what is the meaning of each char in the above expression, but I do not get how does it work together. why "(? < !^)([A-Z])" doesnot work ? it means that whenever you find a captial letter that is not after a new line, then split, am I right ?

• How can a regular user be notified of a required reboot?

  I am administrating multiple machines on which I am admin and the users have not admin-rights. The machines are configured to pull and install updates automatically. A new kernel will require a reboot. On Ubuntu Precise this was made visible to the user through the color change of the shutdown-menu in the upper right corner (it turned red). Now, on Ubuntu Trusty, there is not color change anymore. Also, the Update Manager will not pop up for regular users reminding them of an outstanding reboot. How can a regular user know that a reboot is required?

• Disable local delivery in Sendmail

  I am using Sendmail on a Centos server to send email for PHP scripts, but the problem is that mail is delivered to a local mailbox on the machine rather than what is specified in the MX records for the domain - which actually point to another machine I use for email. I would like sendmail to not try and locally deliver mail for the domain the machine is setup for, is there a simple way to disable local delivery? The domain is not in the local-host-names file. I don't want to relay to another server, i just want it to send mail regardless of domain.   I just created a Drupal website on a uni.cc subdomain that is brand-new also (it has barely had the 24 hours to propagate).   If you define a While method of the builder-object, you can use while-loops in your computation expressions. The signature of the While method is: member b.While (predicate:unit->bool, body:M<'a>) : M<'a> For comparison, the signature of the For method is: member b.For (items:seq<'a>, body:unit->M<'a>) : M<'a> You should notice that, in the While-method, the body is a simple type, and not a function as in the For method. You can embed some other statements, like let and function-calls inside your computation-expressions, but those can impossibly execute in a while-loop more than once. builder { while foo() do printfn "step" yield bar() } Why is the while-loop not executed more than once, but merely repeated? Why the significant difference from for-loops? Better yet, is there some intended strategy for using while-loops in computation-expressions?

  Often when I see regular expressions, I only see a total mess of characters. Why does it have to be this way? I guess what I really want to know is: are there alternatives to regular expressions that basically do the same thing but are implemented in a human readable language? [UPDATE] Thanks for all the great responses and inspiration! I wanted to highlight this particular link which shows how a (working) alternative would look like, which may also be a good starting point for learning or "simple" regex expressions. But you also quickly get a feel for the verbosity tradeoff.

• My site has crashed .. anyone have some info ?

  Hi all , I booked a domain name for my website from a hosting provider .I gave the domain name , along with ftp details to a freelancer to develop the site in wordpress . the freelancer developped and he got full payment , and the site and site was working fine ,etc .. From that time , I did not change the admin logging as well as ftp details , this means that such info is still known to the freelancer .. A week ago , I found that some links in my site was not working .. I sent him a mail about this , and he said that he will fix it if i give him ftp details . and I did so , next I found that the entire site is gone . then he sent me a mail , without I asked him , and he he said that there have been someone who got access to my server , and he removed all files of my site and he installed drupal instead .and that he can rebuild the site in one day , by charging a full fee of 250 usd again .. Can anyone know what I can do in this situation , to find who did such act , could it be the host provider or that freelancer ,, and if there is a possibility to have my site back top the server ..   Snapshot database is one of the most interesting concepts that I have used at some places recently. Here is a quick definition of the subject from Book On Line: A Database Snapshot is a read-only, static view of a database (the source database). Multiple snapshots can exist on a source database and can always reside on the same server instance as the database. Each database snapshot is consistent, in terms of transactions, with the source database as of the moment of the snapshot’s creation. A snapshot persists until it is explicitly dropped by the database owner. If you do not know how Snapshot database work, here is a quick note on the subject. However, please refer to the official description on Book-on-Line for accuracy. Snapshot database is a read-only database created from an original database called the “source database”. This database operates at page level. When Snapshot database is created, it is produced on sparse files; in fact, it does not occupy any space (or occupies very little space) in the Operating System. When any data page is modified in the source database, that data page is copied to Snapshot database, making the sparse file size increases. When an unmodified data page is read in the Snapshot database, it actually reads the pages of the original database. In other words, the changes that happen in the source database are reflected in the Snapshot database. Let us see a simple example of Snapshot. In the following exercise, we will do a few operations. Please note that this script is for demo purposes only- there are a few considerations of CPU, DISK I/O and memory, which will be discussed in the future posts. Create Snapshot Delete Data from Original DB Restore Data from Snapshot First, let us create the first Snapshot database and observe the sparse file details. The details of Regular DB remain the same. It clearly shows that when we delete data from Regular/Source DB, it copies the data pages to Snapshot database. This is the reason why the size of the snapshot DB is increased. • Python 3.4 adds re.fullmatch()

  Python 3.4 does not bring any changes to its regular expression syntax compared to previous 3.x releases. It does add one new function to the re module called fullmatch(). This function takes a regular expression and a subject string as its parameters. It returns True if the regular expression can match the string entirely. It returns False if the string cannot be matched or if it can only be matched partially. This is useful when using a regular expression to validate user input. Do note that fullmatch() will return True if the subject string is the empty string and the regular expression can find zero-length matches. A zero-length match of a zero-length string is a complete match. So if you want to check whether the user entered a sequence of digits, use \d+ rather than \d* as the regex.

  I've recently had a few random TS3 mass disconnects and I'm am curious to know where I may find any applications that can help me determine the cause of any types of TS3 server disconnections as we plan on having many more users in the future. I run an almost empty VPS (OpenVZ) server with an ArchLinux template on it. I have 1.5/2GB of RAM, 2GHz of CPU and plenty of hard drive space, to run for the most part, just my TS3 and a low traffic apache web server.
