• How to draw a drop shadow AND gradient with quartz2d?

  Hello! I've a custom shape drawing using coregraphics and i want to add a drop shadow and a gradient to it also. I've been trying and searching a lot of informations on how to combine and do this, but i can't get it to work. I'm able to draw only one either. Anyone doing this already or know how to do this?   I'm searching for the source code of a compiler capable of creating Win32 programs from an input program in a programming language (It doesn't matter which, maybe the simpler the better) Yet I can't find anything right for me and huge compilers like GCC make me extremely confused as they have so many features that I don't know where to start. Is there an OpenSource Win32 micro-compiler for some programming language out there I could take a look at?

  It appears to me, from searching stackoverflow, that hand coding html/css is superior to using WYSIWYG editors. I'm a few weeks into learning html and css, and I've only hand-coded so far (though I do have the Adobe Suite). My questions: is it ever worth learning how to use a WYSIWYG editor (like dreamweaver)? And, more importantly, when would it be better to use it over handcoding?

• Does calling a click method effect the HtmlPage object if there is a 404?

  If I call a click method on a HtmlAnchor, and say that page returns a 404, does that mean the HtmlPage will effect, so searching for another link on the page will result in an error because the page's HTML is the error page (assuming the link is NOT on the error page). Can I manually set the page's HTML, and then locate and click on links and continue on from this approach? (other than connecting via a URL)

• How can I get Rails to interpret a text field as a datetime

  My database has a datetime field, and I want to be able to create new entries. Obviously the Rails datetime_select helper isn't the most user friendly thing to have in your form. I'd rather have a text field for the datetime (or one for the date, and one for the time) and interpret the inputs like PHP strtotime can. I might just be searching the wrong keywords. Surely this has been discussed in great depth somewhere. Thanks :0)

  Searching around the Microsoft.M assembly I found the SourceParser class and whole set of classes in the Microsoft.TSQL10 namespace that seem related to parsing SQL but I cannot find examples of how to use it. I know the you can generate T-SQL easily enough, but can you consume it, manipulate the data structure and re-output a modified version of the SQL select?
