    I often use tortoisesvn to checkout or update a working copy on a development server. Whenever I do this, it seems to slow down the network and other users complain that browsing websites and accessing files on the dev server is slow.     Hi, Having assertions for unexpected conditions is considered to be good defensive coding practice. I happen to place assertions whenever i think something unexpected may happen, but that now seems to be an overkill to me. Additionally, sometimes mild unexpected conditions that don't necessarily lead to crash may even cause failure on customer end. Is there a hard and fast rule to put assertions? Thanks.

  • How can I prevent javascript errors in my selenium tests from hanging my build system?

    We are having a problem with our selenium tests which run in IE on a virtual machine. Whenever there is a javascript error, a popup shows up and puts our system into a 'stuck' state - a user has to go clear that and restart the selenium test run. Is there a way to prevent the javascript error popup from putting the system into its stuck state? Would setting window.error be of any help here?

    I've written an app that uses some of the user's camera roll images, and while it does so it stores them in the application root directory. The problem I have is that whenever I re-compile my application it changes the folder to which the application is installed. Is there any way I can specify which folder it should build to, so that any path information stored during it's last run will still be valid?

    In my app, I'd like a method called whenever the user taps the screen (anywhere on the screen). Normally, I'd make a transparent UIButton that covers the whole screen. If I'm using the cocos2d framework, what's the best way to do this? Is it good practice to still use UIButtons? I've been reading about MenuItems but haven't found an easy way to make one giant fully transparent menu item? Thanks.
