• iPhone Feedback Service with PHP

  HI All, Has anybody been able to extract the device tokens from the binary data that iPhone APNS feedback service returns using PHP? I am looking for something similar to what is been implementented using python here http://www.google.com/codesearch/p?hl=en&sa=N&cd=2&ct=rc#m5eOMDWiKUs/APNSWrapper/%5F%5Finit%5F%5F.py&q=feedback.push.apple.com As per the Apple documentation, I know that the first 4 bytes are timestamp, next 2 bytes is the length of the token and rest of the bytes are the actual token in binary format. (http://developer.apple.com/IPhone/library/documentation/NetworkingInternet/Conceptual/RemoteNotificationsPG/CommunicatingWIthAPS/CommunicatingWIthAPS.html#//apple%5Fref/doc/uid/TP40008194-CH101-SW3) I am successfully able to extract the timestamp from the data feedback service returns, but the device token that I get after i convert to hexadecimal using the PHP's built in method bin2hex() is actually different than original device token. I am doing something silly in the conversion. Can anybody help me out if they have already implemented APNS feedback service using PHP? TIA, -Anish

• Symbolic Link in Tomcat 5 is not working after setting allowLinking="true"

  I created a symbolic link to a .htm file. ln -sf /u105/app/ptelrep/reports/kfx/generated/KFX026_Wholesale_1.htm /u105/app/ptelrep/reports/kfx/generated/KFX026_Wholesale.htm The link works. I have the configuration file, reports.xml: /u355/app/ptelrep/tomcat50-jwsdp/conf/Catalina/localhost/reports.xml I have a JSP file which has link points to the symbolic link: onMouseOver="toggleDiv('div1',1)" onMouseOut="toggleDiv('div1',0)"Detail Usage I restarted the tomcat but the symlink is not working. When I change the symlink to a point to the original file, it works. Can anyone know what the problem is?

• sIFR 3 HTML text does not display, .sIFR-alternate causing problem

  It seems my sIFR 3 text does not show HTML text if the Flash text is not displayed. Here's one of the pages in question: http://www.jeremyschultz.com/client/orchardplace/website/beta/volunteer/ One person has reported not seeing anything when viewing this page, and I can recreate it by removing the Flash text with Firebug. Testing with Firebug also suggests the .sIFR-alternate class is what's causing this: when I remove it, the text shows up, and it disappears again when I restore it. I copied the original CSS and also tried applying a few new CSS rules to .sIFR-alternate but nothing has solved it. What do you think? Jeremy [email protected]

• Career advice: I am best at what I hate most

  I think my career has entered a vicious circle which I would like to exit: I am best at what I hate most. And because I am good at that, I always receive that kind of assignments, and I do them as expected or even better. Which makes me more of an expert and brings me more similar tasks. My "expertise" is what (I think) every programmer hates: legacy systems. I can very quickly learn systems, and modify them, migrate them, extract web services from them whatever (without breaking them). Never to develop more functionality or to solve interesting or original problems. Just have that work with Java 1.4, or convert it into a rest-full service or support oracle too. I feel (and I am told) that I am highly regarded and very helpful to my company. But I hate what I do. What would you do in my place?

How do I release the image from the image control to be able to delete it. • Advice? SSO in N-tiered SOA with mixture of REST and SOAP services

  Hi gang, We are moving to SSO in our N-tiered SOA applications. If all the services were SOAP, I'd be ok with just the WS-Security, WS-Trust, WS-Federation set of protocols. My problem is that many of the services are RESTful (ironic) and those protocols do not address REST services. What is your advice for SSO protecting the REST services in an N-tiered SOA architecture with the following requirements: ideally claims-based identity information available to the REST services original user (eg. bootstrap) information must flow through the tiers so that each service can "ActAs" or "OnBehalfOf" the user support sequences like: WebApp -- REST Svc -- SOAP Svc WebApp -- REST Svc1 -- REST Svc2 WebApp -- SOAP Svc -- REST Svc WebApp -- SOAP Svc1 -- SOAP Svc2 support SSO (and SSOff) service/web app platforms: ASP.Net and WCF Java end-user client platforms: .Net (WSE 3.0 and WCF) flash 10 java javascript and AJAX Normally I'm good at climbing / bashing my way through walls, but this one's knocked me flat. • Winform problem with autoscrolling of the ScrollableControl

  Hi guys, I have a problem with autoscrolling of the .NET ScrollableControl. I am using TabPage which inherited from ScrollableControl in the class hierarachy. Every TabPage object has only 1 UserControl derived control which draws the landscape; there is no other control on the tabpage. The usage of my application is its user will drag a file from windows explorer and drop into the TabPage. As more files are dragged and dropped, the UserControl derived control will expand to accomodate the drawing of the files and auto-scrolling will be enabled. The problem I have is when I mouse-click on the UserControl control, the vertical and horizontal scrollbars will scroll back to (0,0) position. I want the vertical and horizontal scrollbars to remain at their original scrolled position whatever happens. I believe when I mouse-click on the UserControl control, the UserControl control comes into focus and that triggers the auto-scrolling to (0,0) position. Please help. Thanks in advance!

Description from codingbat.com: Given a string and a non-empty word string, return a version of the original string where all chars have been replaced by pluses ("+"), except for appearances of the word string which are preserved unchanged. plusOut("12xy34", "xy") ? "++xy++" plusOut("12xy34", "1") ? "1+++++" plusOut("12xy34xyabcxy", "xy") ? "++xy++xy+++xy" There is no mention whether or not to allow overlap (e.g. what is plusOut("+xAxAx+", "xAx")?), but my non-regex solution doesn't handle overlap and it passes, so I guess we can assume non-overlapping occurrences of word if it makes it simpler. In any case, I'd like to solve this using regex (of the same style that I did before with the other two problems), but I'm absolutely stumped. I don't even have anything to show, because I have nothing that works. So let's see what the stackoverflow community comes up with.

• Crystal Reports Server - Database Login Needs to go Away

  The environment I'm working in is a Crystal Reports Server 2008 talking to a MySQL Server 5.1 database using JDBC. The problem is that I get a database logon screen every time I try to access a report from Crystal Reports Server. I've setup a JDBC connection using the MySQL Connector/J driver. When I create a .rpt file I provide the login credentails all is fine. I then publish to InfoView and go to access the report and it prompts me for username and password to the database. I then went to CMC and right-clicked on the report and opened the Database Configuration. I've selected 'Use original database logon information from the report' and 'Use same database logon as when report is run'. However, I still get the logon screen when I try to access the report.

• Best way to cache resized images using PHP and MySQL

  What would be the best practice way to handle the caching of images using PHP. The filename is currently stored in a MySQL database which is renamed to a GUID on upload, along with the original filename and alt tag. When the image is put into the HTML pages it is done so using a url such as '/images/get/200x200/{guid}.jpg which is rewritten to a php script. This allows my designers to specify (roughly - the source image maybe smaller) the file size. The php script then creates a hash of the size (200x200 in the url) and the GUID filename and if the file has been generated before (file with the name of the hash exists in TMP directory) sends the file from the application TMP directory. If the hashed filename does not exist, then it is created, written to disk and served up in the same manner, Is this efficient as it could be? (It also supports watermarking the images and the watermarking settings are stored in the hash as well, but thats out of scope for this.)

• Is InstallShield 2010 really necessary to support Windows 7 (against using InstallShield 12)

  I have received an e-mail from Flexera containing the following statement: "We understand that many of our customers still using InstallShield 12 maybe having difficulties sending installations to Windows 7 desktops, 64 Bit servers or R2 2008. Therefore we would like to provide this opportunity for you to erase these potential / current problems and upgrade despite InstallShield 12 being End of Life’d some time ago." We have not had any problems ourselves. I am interested to hear if anyone else has had any issues or whether this is a scare to get us to upgrade unnecessarily. I did examine in some detail the differences at the original end-of-life notice but could not see any issues that affected our installations. Interestingly they call this an 'amnesty' - almost implying we are criminals for not upgrading (cf OED).

  This is very similar to a question I asked the other day but my page code has become significantly more complicated and I need to revisit it. I've been using the following code: $('#myLink').click(function() { $('#myImg').attr('src', 'newImg.jpg'); setTimeout(function() { $('#myImg').attr('src', 'oldImg.jpg'); }, 15000); }); To replace an image for a set period of time (15 seconds) when the link is clicked, then after 15 seconds, revert to the original image. However now, I'd like to run a snippet of javascript as well when the link is clicked (in addition to replacing the image), and only when the link is clicked (it's related to the 15 second image) and then have the js code disappear as well after the 15 seconds...however I'm not sure how to have jquery send js code into the page...Basically I just want jQuery to "echo" this code onto the page underneath the 15 second while I am there, but I don't know how jquery formats this "echo". Does this question make sense?

The problem I discovered in a Unit test (albeit an unlikely event), that the following line could be null: detail.ExpenditureAmounts.FirstOrDefault( amount => amount.isCurrent && !amount.requiresAudit) My original query was a nested loop, in where I would be making multiple trips to the database, something I don't want to repeat. I've looked in to what seemed like some similar questions here, but the solution didn't seem to fit. Any ideas?

• Android: ImageView scales up source image

  I can't seem to get my ImageView to display its source image in its original size. The ImageView looks like this: <ImageView android:id="@+id/Logo" android:src="@drawable/logo" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" > </ImageView> The source image is 140 pixels wide, yet on the Nexus One's screen, which is 480 pixels wide it uses up half of the width. Using absolute values in px or dp for the width and height changes nothing. The image also looks very antialiased from the upscaling. Why is this happening and how can I prevent it?

• OutOfMemoryException with Image.Clone - Only on Windows 2003

  So here's my issue. I have an image that I need to shrink. The original image is a grayscale PNG, which isn't a huge issues except that when I shrink it down, the thermal label printers pickup the artifacts and print them on the label. So, what I did was change the image to black & white (Format1bppIndexed) before resizing, like this: Dim bte() As Byte = System.Convert.FromBase64String(imgStr) Dim ms As New IO.MemoryStream(bte) Dim bmp As New System.Drawing.Bitmap(ms) Dim monoImage As Drawing.Bitmap = New Drawing.Bitmap(1200, 1800, Drawing.Imaging.PixelFormat.Format1bppIndexed) Dim rect As New Drawing.Rectangle(0, 0, 1200, 1800) monoImage = bmp.Clone(rect, Drawing.Imaging.PixelFormat.Format1bppIndexed) And then I resize it. This code works fine on my Windows 7 machine, but when I run it on the Windows 2003 Server box that it calls home, it always throws an OutOfMemoryException when it hits the bmp.Clone line. Any ideas as to what's happening, or perhaps a better solution to converting the image to B&W?

  I need a blob file field as part of a content type in plone. plone.app.blob's BlobField should provide this, but I can't find how to get a URL to download the file including the original filename (e.g. http://plone.site/plone/obj/orig-file-name.avi). Is there a way to do this using plone.app.blob? Alternately, there are a few pointers on the web pointing to plone.namedfile to do this. plone.namedfile seems to rely on z3c.blobfile.   I'm trying to setup a server-client interraction: Server gets a string from client Server returns data to client I got this working with socket.send and socket.recv, but was wondering how to get it working with files through socket.makefile. I've got most of the pieces working, but don't know how to force each of the pieces to read at the appropriate time. So what it looks like is happening is that both the client and server are reading on the socket at the same time. Any ideas on how to let the server complete the original read before the client starts waiting for its information? Below are the core pieces that reproduce the read lock.   First bit of the question: What are the legal requirements of LGPL code during the deployment of a commercial product? Software package should include LGPL licence file Anything else? Shall we add a line to our "software agreement text" where you need to click next in the installer ? Second bit, Is there any known / accepted ways of distributing the changed library. Since it's LGPL anything derived from it should be licenced under LGPL. But what about after that? Shall we just send a copy to the original author? Shall we put it in our website so people can download? Or ship the source code with the product? Or just put a note that saying "e-mail us for the source code of this library".

I think the problem is with my session, in that the current_usermethod comes up with nil for session[:facebook_session]. According to the original authlogic, it says to use the active_record_store for sessions: # config/environment.rb config.action_controller.session_store = :active_record_store # db/schema includes create_table "sessions", :force => true do |t| t.string "session_id", :null => false t.text "data" t.datetime "created_at" t.datetime "updated_at" end The article calls for the use of cookies. I'm confused; can I use cookies and the active record sessions? I'm also confused by the use of cattr_accessor :current_user from within the User model -- current_user still goes in the application controller, right? Please help.

The doubt I have is, that I dont now how to represent the tags in xslt, and also I need to represent the line, path and text in the form of xslt. how can I do this any ideas, with really get me going... • In C, is it possible do free only an array first ou last position?

  Hi there! I've an array, but I don't need its first (or last) position. So I point a new variable to the rest of the array, but I should free the array first/last position. For instance: p = read_csv_file(); q = p + 1; // I don't need the first CSV file field // Here I'd like to free only the first position of p return q; Otherwise I've to memcpy the array to other variable, excluding the first position, and then free the original array. Like this: p = read_csv_file(); q = (int*) malloc(sizeof(int) * (SOME_SIZE - 1)); memcpy(q, p+1, sizeof(int) * (SOME_SIZE - 1)); free(p); return q; But then I'll have the overhead of copying all the array. Is this possible to only free a single position of an array?
