  RegEx is powerful - it is tru but I have a little - query for you I want to parse out the FUNCTIONS from some old code in JS...however - I am RegEx handicapped (mentally deficient in grasping the subtleties).. the issue that makes me NOT EVEN TRY - is two fold - 1) myVar = function(x){ yadda yadda } AND function myVar(x) { yadda yadda } are found throuout - COLD I write a parser for each? sure - but that seems inefficient... 2) MANY things may reside INSIDE the {} including OTHER sets of {} or other Functions(){} block of text... HELP - does anyone have, or know of some code parsing snippets or examples that will parse out the info I want to collect? Thanks

  Hey all. I am looking for a fast and efficient protocol that can be used between different web services to send text-data (not binary data). Doesn't matter if the protocol is binary or text base. Some conditions: I has to be more "efficient" than normal XML which adds a lot of extra data and the tools to read/write is too heavy It has to be "supported" by most major languages, meaning it cannot only be available for one specific language. At the moment, both Java and PHP have to be able to talk to each other using this protocol. I have already looked at: XML - which I am currently using. Code 1 - Does not work if(document.getElementById == true) { alert("The document object model is supported by: " + navigator.appName); } Code 2 - Does work if(document.getElementById != false) { alert("The document object model is supported by: " + navigator.appName); } Code 3 - The shorthand that does work if(document.getElementById) { alert("The document object model is supported by: " + navigator.appName); } Why is that if I expand the shorthand in 3 to the first code sample not work and why does it work if I have it equal to != false?

  Hi! I have a directoy structure, and all the classes of the business logic are placed in the app_dir/lib/ directory. I would like to generate unit tests for all the classes from this lib/ folder. The problem is, that I haven't found any option to specify the source directory, only the source file: from app_dir: phpunit --skeleton-class lib/ Error: "lib/.php" could not be opened. Is it the only solution to write my own php script, which iterates through the /lib folder and calls the skeleton generator for every file found? And how can I specify the output folder, where all the generated test files are placed? Thanx, Joe

  Which is the best API to use when accessing a WebCam in .Net? (I know they can be webcam specific, I am willing to buy a new webcam if it means better results). I want to write a desktop application that will take video from a webcam and store it in MPEG4 formats (DivX, Xvid, etc...). I would also like to access bitmap stills from the device so I can do image comparison between frames. I have tried various libraries, and none have really been a great fit (some have performance issues (very inconsistent framerates), some have image quality limitations, some just crash out for seemingly no reason. I want to get high quality video (as high as I can get) and a decent framerate. My webcam is more than up to the job and I was hoping that there would be a nice Managed .Net library around that would help my cause. Are webcam APIs all just incredibly bad?

I have defined for convenience: F7:compile, F10:gud-next, F11:gud-step, F5:gud-cont, F9:gud-tbreak, F8:gud-until, F4:gud-print. I am mainly interested in debugging c/c++ source code on linux from emacs and I would like to get the most gdb can give. Unfortunately I am using only F4 which prints the variable under cursor. So my question is how do you guys debug the source code ? What programs do you use ? What key bindings (functionality) do you use mostly ? What do you need the debugger to do for you ? Because I use web service classes and I dont know when property names can be changed. This code give me exception only in runtime. I'm desperate to find where this is, or at the very least a decent list from someone here. The thing is, I've been writing code for about 8 years now, and it's my passion. Very few things make me happier than getting lost in some C# or Python. But I've spent the last 2 years in a job that doesn't allow me much time to do what I love. Now everyone knows that the best way to keep your coding sword sharp is to use it, and I've noticed recently that mine is getting dull. Does anyone have any suggestions on some simple programs to help flex my coding muscle? I'm one of those odd few who actually likes writing CRUD applications, so stuff like that would be nice, too.

  I have an old Access application that has a lot of code in forms and reports. The database is getting too large and I am thinking of moving the back end to SQL Server. My requirements are as follows: The DB needs to be multiuser and the users (3-5) will need to log in over the web I would prefer not to re-write the forms and reports in ASP or some other web front end. When I think about my choices, I see them as: Have an Access ADP front end and allows remote log-in to the server where it is stored. Not sure if it is possible for 2 users to simultaneously log in Distribute an ADP front end to the users, but I am not sure if it is possible to connect to a SQL Server back end over the internet, and the network traffic may be an issue. The form is a simple info box which pops up, and clicking anywhere on it does the same thing (sort of like Outlook's email notifier.) Each UrlMapper have own semantic and binding scheme. Rails alike scheme simply doesn't work (unless you implement it yourself). And my question is: are there any more convenient ways to address controller from JSP in Spring?

• Know if a Visual Studio Website project is recompiling itself in the background?

  A number of team members update a central ASP.NET dev site (Website project, not a Web application type). Some kinds of changes cause a recompile/rebuild in it. The large website takes a while to recompile and we've noticed it will still seemingly serve out dynamic pages before everything is internally updated. During the site's "gestation" period, our mileage varies while hitting it. Sometimes we get a correct page, sometimes an compilation error page that will eventually be served up without a compilation error, and at other times an unexpected hybrid. Is it possible to query an ASP.NET website application to see if it's currently compiling or rebuilding itself? If so I would write a status page that the team could reference when they're getting weird behaviour, so they would know to wait. Update: Our team often edit files manually on the dev server. For production we'd make pre-compiled pushes. The dev environment is a little more malleable and ever-changing so I'm looking for a solution to reducing the "confusion" there.

• Which file is the COM++ object and how do I import it to .NET?

  I'm trying to write a COM++ object wrapper around a Qt widget (control) I wrote so I can use it in future .NET projects. e.g.: public __gc class comWidget; In the compile directory are the .exe, an exe.intermediate.manifest, and the comWidget.obj, and also some other crap files (.pdb, etc). So what/how do I import into .NET? I feel like I'm missing an important step for registering the object or whatever, but all these tutorials are terrible outdated and ridiculously unhelpful (for instance, I'm using the old CLR syntax because I can't find any good docs on the new stuff, thx again M$ for being lazy faggots as usual)
