• ASP.NET Controls Not Recognized

  I just installed the release version of Visual Studio 2010, and it looks like there's something wrong with the standard ASP.NET server controls. When I create a basic server control, such as a TextBox, the editor underlines it in green and says (I also get no intellisense for ASP.NET controls): Element 'TextBox' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site, or the Web.config file is missing. The web site builds fine, and the Web.config file is not missing: <?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration> <system.web> <compilation debug="false" targetFramework="4.0" /> </system.web> </configuration> The controls work just fine in the code-behind, and they function correctly when I run the site. Is there some configuration problem here?

• Get the tags of a document in Subversion

  I was wondering if there is a way to easily see the tags of a specific file in Subversion using the command line and/or TortoiseSVN. Most version control system allow you to see easily access the tags/labels of a file. When using TortoiseSVN I can do this when I access the "Revision Graph". This however is a operation that takes around 44 minutes. I consider this very hard work just to know what tags have been created for the file. Is there another way to do it? Or is there no way to instantaneously access tag information. Thanks, Onno

  HI all. Here is the scenario. I have port 8888 for my program to use. I build a TCP and a UDP listener on that port. (This can do, c# allows, because they are two different protocols) My question is If the network traffic is very busy, TCP sockets may refuse or signalling the other end to stop sending things, it is called congestion control, right? So if TCP is congestion controlling, other ends may not send more data, in this "TCP quiet period", UDP channel should have not that much of traffic, right? I want to figure out the TCP traffic will affect UDP traffic or not?

• how to use .mdf while developing

  I use a .mdf database for my asp.net Mvc project. The project is on source control on a tfs. When I debug the project, Visual Studio copies the database in to the debugmap. The problem is, when I debug next time, the changes (while testing the previous time) in the database are gone. The reason of this I know, Visual studio copies the original database again in to the debug map. Can I change some settings in Visual studio to work always on the same database without copying the database after each debug session myself? So I can keep my modified records? Or how do I have to work with my database while developing? Greets

  I have the following "download" script in PHP which basically makes an address on my website download the file for the user, eg. mysite.com/download.php?fileid=10 The question I have is, how can I send the file name to the used for the download when a user downloads the .php address with a File Downloaders/Accelerators? eg. • ASP.NET ListView: how to insert "particular" item each N items ?

  Hi at all, i would like to do a "weird" thing with the asp.net listview control. I would like to insert advertising each 8-10 item of the listview (databounded with a database table) : for example each 8-10 item insert the google adwords jscript code. • JQuery cookie access has stopped working for GAE app

  I have a google app engine app that has been running for some time, and some javascript code that checks for a login cookie has suddenly stopped working. As far as I can tell, NO code has changed. The relevant code uses the jquery cookies plugin (jquery.cookies.2.2.0.min.js)... // control the default screen depending // if someone is logged in if( $.cookies.get('dev_appserver_login') != null || $.cookies.get('ACSID') != null ) { alert("valid cookie!") $("#inventory-container").show(); } else { alert("INvalid cookie!") $("#welcome-container").show(); } The reason for the two checks is that in the GAE SDK, the cookies are named differently. The production system uses 'ACSID'. This if statement works in the SDK and now fails 100% of the time in production. I have verified that the cookie is, in fact, present when I inspect the page. Thoughts?

• PHP controllable menubar position

  I'm an admin for a page and I want to give certain users dynamic control of the menubar layout. The ideal would be a page with a list with menu items and arrows pointing up and down with each item and when you click them the item is reordered. I have a pretty basic idea of how I can do it but I would like some suggestions. The items are stored in MySQL and I only need help figuring out how the items should be ordered or numbered and how to re-order them. This probably needs some javascript trickery and I'm not familiar with JS.

• Vb6 project files and source safe

  A part of the application that I am working on is a legacy Vb6 Windows forms application. All the files in the project are under source control (VSS) except the Vb6 project file. From what I can establish from the other developers working on the project the reason for this is that the com components used in the projects have different references on each developers machine. I want to move the project files into VSS so that when files are added to the project these can be updated in the project files and other developers (and more importantly an automated build script) can get the latest project files from source safe. Does anyone know if/how I can achieve this in such a way as to not corrupt the references to other com components on different development machines?

• CUDA driver installation on a laptop with nVidia NVS140M card

  I'm trying to first figure out if my computer contains a CUDA-enabled card. It has an nVidia NVS 140M card, but I can't seem to figure out if it is the 128 MB version or 256 MB version. On the laptop purchase receipt, I found out that I ordered the 128 MB version, but the control panel description of the card said otherwise as shown below: When I ran the CUDA driver from nVidia's site, it cannot find a hardware compatible with CUDA (even though the product series is CUDA-enabled, the card does not have 256 MB minimum of memory to do so). What would be your recommendations in this case with trying to use CUDA on this computer (I'm not sure if nothing can be done at this point)? Thanks in advance.

• How can I make Access combo boxes unfurl on arrow key down?

  With combo box controls, I'm used to being able tab to them, click the down arrow key to open up the options, and then use the up and down arrow keys to navigate those options. In an Access form I've designed, pressing down while a combo box is active moves to the next control. I already have tab for that, so how can I get the down arrow to behave as I expect? These combo boxes are the only thing between me and a mouse-free form, which I consider essential for data entry. Thanks in advance for your help!

  I'd like to pass an associative array (or simply an object with property names & values) to my ActiveXObject. I can't find anyone who has successfully and simply passed complex data from javascript to an ActiveX object. My ActiveX object is being loaded in IE, and it's mine so I can change the method signature & code to whatever will work. I also have control over the structure of the javascript. Without a simple way of doing this I'm thinking of url-encoding the data and sending it as a string. But that does seem a little silly if it's possible just to pass an object. The ActiveX object is coded in C# if that makes any difference...

  Hi all. I'm getting a stuck. Suppose that I create 5 sites. For each one, I create a few sharepoint groups. So, I create a dropdownlist control to bind 5 sites and when I click on any site there, I will get sharepoint groups created on it. But I always see the dropdownlist used to bind these groups still never change. I mean it only binds a few default groups in sahrepoint everytime. The new created groups is not. And I have confusion like this web.AssociatedGroups web.Groups web.SiteGroups which one we will use this case ? So im using cache to hold the selectteditem from the dropdownlist. Problem: The process is going fine. But if i try to refresh the page no items are selected in the dropdown list but the cache is not getting clear so using this cache value dynamic control are creating.

  I have a simple app with two basic screens, a UIMapView and a UITableView. I'd like to have a toolbar at the bottom with a couple of buttons and a UISegmentedControl with two segments: "Map" and "Table". (The layout is similar to the Google Maps app that ships with the iPhone.) How can I keep the same toolbar while presenting either the UIMapView (with a UIMapViewController) or the UITableView (with a UITableViewController) when the user switches back and forth on the segmented control? Of course, I can just create an identical toolbar for each of the two different views and display them separately, but is there a better way?

• Prevent painting of .NET form while form is loading?

  Is there a way to turn off all visual updates to a .NET form while I am manipulating it? When my program first loads, for example, I set the tab control to the tab that was last open. The user can see the program switching tabs. I have looked into SuspendLayout and ResumeLayout, but either I don't understand what they are doing, or I am not using them correctly, because they don't seem to have any effect. Someone told me that there used to be a way to turn off paint events in VB 6. Does this still exist in .NET?

• How to debug Fluent nHibernate

  Hi, I'm having some trouble with Fluent nHibernate. I added a column to a table and I thought I'd correctly changed the mappings and the connected data objects to correctly reflect this. However when I tried to run my application again I kept getting this error: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Invalid column name 'Workflow_id'. I really couldn't see what the problem was with the changes I'd made so I reverted back to the original versions of the mapping and data object files from source control and removed the offending column from the database. But I'm still getting the same error. I'd like some advice on how to debug this. The SQL that gets reported on the error is semi-nonsensical: SELECT regions0_.Page_id as Page5_1_, regions0_.Id as Id1_, regions0_.Id as Id27_0_, regions0_.RegionId as RegionId27_0_, regions0_.RegionTemplate_id as RegionTe3_27_0_, regions0_.Workflow_id as Workflow4_27_0_ FROM [Region] regions0_ WHERE regions0_.Page_id=? And it won't execute as valid SQL anyway. Any ideas as to where to go from here?

  Hi, I have a GridView and I need update some data inserting HTML CODE; I would need this data been stored encoded and decoded on request. I cannot in any way disable globally "Request Validation" and not even at Page Level, so I would need a solution to disable "Request Validation" at Control Level. At the moment I am using a script which should Html.Encode every value being update, butt seems that "Request Validation" start its job before event RowUpdating, so I get the Error "Page A potentially dangerous Request.Form ... ". Any idea how to solve it? • Setting tabindex in dynamic table vertically then horizontally

  I have a page that is currently generating dynamically created textboxes in a table format. The users are requesting that the tab order be changed from horizontal-vertical to vertical-horizontal. I know that you can use the tabindex attribute to control the tab ordering, but I can't for the life of me figure out the right way to get the sequential number properly for the textboxes. I guess this is more of a math question than anything else! FYI, the textboxes are made while looping two different collections. First collection looped to make the rows, for each row, second collection (which is a property of the first collection objects) is looped to create the columns. Any help would be greatly appreciated. • Autoformat pom.xml without using m2eclipse plugin

  I don't use the Eclipse maven plugin while developing in Eclipse. I generate my Eclipse classpath externally using the following command: mvn eclipse:eclipse This has worked fine for quite some time and I am not inclined to add a maven plugin. However, I would like to be able to "autoformat" my pom.xml file. My pom.xml is not showing up as a "Source" file and therefore the contextual "Source" menu doesn't show up. Control-Shift-F doesn't work either. Is there a way to do this without installing the m2eclipse plugin? Is there any other generic "XML Editor" plugin that can help with this?

• How can I handle multiple views of a data object? Which design pattern is acceptable?

  I have a person object. class Person { private $name; ... } I need to be able to change how they are displayed on the front-end ( visitors have control ). They can choose list view, grid view, photo view for example. class PersonDisplay { public function displayList() { // Query database // Output html to display in list mode } public function displayPhoto() { // Query database // Output html to display in photo mode } } Is this an acceptable way to handle the presentation of the items on the front-end or is there a specific design pattern I should be researching to help me with this task? Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas where this could go wrong or if this could potentially make maintenance a nightmare? The Person object was just an example very similiar to what I am using.
