• (VB or C#) Run app in system tray and listen to keyboard input even when the app is not in focus

  I want to make an app which on loading sits in the system tray and even after I open another program (say notepad or vlc or anything) i.e. even when the app is not in focus and if I press "G" on my keyboard, the tray icon should show a tool tip - "key G is pressed". I have tried several codes but nothing works when the app goes out of focus. I can use Register Hot Key (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms646309(VS.85).aspx) but it needs a modifier also (like Ctrl or Alt etc. along with my key G). So, is there any way I can achieve this? something which many tray icons do like antivirus apps, etc. and I do not want to use AutoHotkey application. I want to build one but need some help. Thanks!

• How to convert Beautiful Soup Unicode into a decimal value?

  I'm trying to Use python's Beautiful Soup Library to grab a bunch of divs from an html file, and from there get the string - which is a money value - that's inside the div. Then remove the dollar sign and convert it to a decimal so that I can use a greater than and less than conditional statement to compare values. I have googled the heck out of it and can't seem to come up with a way to convert this unicode string into a decimal value. I really could use some help here. How do I convert unicode into a decimal value?   Hi all, We are creating three different websites using asp.net but for the user part we want to implement an approach so that each user only need to create an account in any of these three sites but use the same account in other websites too. here is what I've suggested : create a useracount.website.com server then put the sql server there and implement core user account library there such as (creating/editing/etc...) whenever a visitor needs to have an account or needs to login into out sites then we will redirect him to the useracount.website.com address and he/she should login from that point. and for the maintaining the user's states I've suggested to using cookies. and all of these scenarios should be implemented by asp.net and sql. please let me know with best approach cause I feel mine is not that good specially the cookie part. cheers.

• Can't control connection bit rate using iwconfig with Atheros TL-WN821N (AR7010)

  I'm trying to reduce the connection bit rate on my Atheros TP-Link TL-WN821N v3 usb wifi adapter due to frequent instability issues (reported connection speed goes down to 1Mb/s and I have to physically reconnect the adapter to regain a connection). I know this is a common problem with this device, and I have tried everything I can think of to fix it, including using drivers from linux-backports; compiling and installing a custom firmware (following instructions on https://wiki.debian.org/ath9k_htc#fw-free) and (as a last resort) using ndiswrapper. When using ndiswrapper, the wifi adapter is stable and operates in g mode at 54Mb/s (whilst when using the default ath9k_htc module, the adapter connects in n mode and the bit rate fluctuates constantly). Unfortunately, with this setup I have to run my processor using only one core, since using SMP with ndiswrapper causes a kernel oops on my system. So I want to lock my bit rate to 54Mb/s (or less, if need be) for connection stability, using the ath9k_htc module. I've tried 'sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M'; the command runs with no error but when I check the bit rate with 'sudo iwlist wlan0 bitrate' the command returns: wlan0 unknown bit-rate information. Current Bit Rate:78 Mb/s Any ideas? Here's some info (hopefully relevant) on my setup: Xubuntu (12.04.3) 64bit (kernel 3.2.0-55.85-generic) using Network Manager. • Make DLL dependent to other DLLs (Visual Studio IDE)

  I'm having an inconsistency when compiling a DLL (let's call it x.dll) by calling cl.exe obj1.obj obj2.obj ... lib1.lib lib2.lib ... /link /out:x.dll /dll /debug and When using the IDE (which calls link directly, I believe). Let's say lib1.lib is an import library for lib1.dll. Opening the DLL generated by calling cl.exe in the depency walker shows it depends on lib1.dll. However, when using the IDE, the generated program is smaller and does not depend on lib1.dll. This IDE-generated image makes the program that uses x.dll crash sometimes. The question is: how do I get the correct behaviour from the IDE?

  I am in the midst of converting a VB library to C#.   Hi, I am trying to import ctypes, and I am using Python 2.5.5 installed using macports (on Mac OS X 10.6). I get an error saying "ImportError: No module named _ctypes" (see details below). As I understand it ctypes is supposed to come preinstalled for python 2.5. • .NET platform independant sync framework

  Question: I need to synchronize a few ActionScript files from my computer to a network share (backup). I saw a quick fix would be using Microsoft Sync Framework for this, and write a windows service. My problem is I also use Linux, and before I start with MS vendor lockin, is there any sync framework/library/whatever I could use that works accross platform? Or does the MS sync framework work on Linux, too? It is my understanding that it is a wrapper around some com objects, thus it wouldn't work. All I need is synchronizing files. So never mind the database part, although it would be nice to have it, too.

• Data driven charts and graphs from xml to svg

  I asked this question a week ago, but did not do a good job of describing the problem. Here's a second attempt. I'd like to produce data-driven charts, graphs, and other data visualizations, starting with data in an xml database and ending up with the visualizations as SVG. Here's an example from the W3C. It uses Javascript to create a stacked bar chart as SVG from xml. I'd like to do something similar but use a graphics library (or ???) instead of js to handle the construction of axes, labels, titles, data points, etc. My question, then: what are the options that I should consider ... things like Raphael I suppose, but initially I'd like to cast a wide net and look at many different options. My experience is all with static data visualizations using statistics packages like R, but eventually I'd like to create interactive data visualizations with html5/css3/svg.   Hello guys, at the moment I'm really interested in expression templates and want to code a library for writing and differentiating mathematical functions with a lambda-style syntax. At the moment, I'm able to write (_x * _x)(2); and get the correct result 4. But I would really like to do something like MathFunction f = _x * _x; f(2);, but I don't have any ideas on how to cope with the recursive expression templates on the right side. Is it possible to achieve this without using the 'auto'-Keyword instead of MathFunction or having to make the operator() virtual? Thanks for your help!

I think it might be something to do with how my files are nested but it makes no sense. I am opening the SQL connection in the header file.   I have two classes A & B, and a listbox. I assign listBox.ItemsSource equal to a collection of objects of type A. The listbox items are visualized using silverlight data templating, see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.datatemplate.aspx and http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/UserControlAsDataTemplate.aspx for example. The listbox.ItemTemplate is a DataTemplate that uses class B to visualize the listbox items. Now, in my code-behind, inside any method of class B, if I do this.DataContext, it points to an object of type A. Thus, given an object of type B, I can find the corresponding object of type A. So far so good. My question is, given an object of type A, how can I navigate to the corresponding object of type B? Is this even possible in SL?

If I'm putting the View inside a UINavigationController the UIImageView won't display the image after taking one with the camera. But if I choose a picture from the library everything is fine again. So why does the UIImageView won't display a image taken with the camera inside a UINavigationController?

• Which libraries use the "We Know Where You Live" optimization for std::make_shared?

  Over two years ago, Stephan T. Lavavej described a space-saving optimization he implemented in Microsoft's implementation of std::make_shared, and I know from speaking with him that Microsoft has nothing against other library implementations adopting this optimization. If you know for sure whether other libraries (e.g., for Gnu C++, Clang, Intel C++, plus Boost (for boost::make_shared)) have adopted this implementation, please contribute an answer. I don't have ready access to that many make_shared implementations, nor am I wild about digging into the bowels of the ones I have to see if they've implemented the WKWYL optimization, but I'm hoping that SO readers know the answers for some libraries off-hand. I know from looking at the code that as of Boost 1.52, the WKWYL optimization had not been implemented, but Boost is now up to version 1.55. Note that this optimization is different from std::make_shared's ability to avoid a dedicated heap allocation for the reference count used by std::shared_ptr. • Did the OS X java update to 1.5u7 whack my 1.6.0 laf.jar?

  This is the update that just came out this week (2010-05-18) Somebody moved my cheese. It appears that laf.jar is Look And Feel, so probably not a big deal for my java development. Eclipse got mad about the missing jar, and furthermore thinks the 1.6.0 VM disappeared, which it didn't. Had to redefine the VM library within eclipse and everything appears kosher, but was hoping somebody with more hit points than me could say so definitively. Am I all good? Was it really the OSX update for 1.5 that went and hunted down a file in my 1.6 VM? Haven't been able to google anything about this... if somebody could post a link to some info about this, that'd be appreciated too.

  I want to create webserver which will be receiving data (images probably) from webclients who will be uploading these photos. And then the webserver must execute some graphic programs (client select whichone) to modify the image(s). After the graphic program is done, the results (output image(s)) will be uploaded to the web temp database (by webserver) to publish results of graphic programs. I found the C++ web toolkit (http://www.webtoolkit.eu), but I'm not sure if this is a suitable C/C++ library for me because I haven't any experiences with making C/C++ web apps/servers. Can someone tell me some advice please? The webserver should have some SDK too, for adding next graphic programs. I'm searching only for any C/C++ tools/libraries/etc.
