• DotNetOpeId - Using OpenIdButton for Google Apps

  I am an ASP.NET newbie and I am trying to design an OpenID/SSO system for an internal web application. The web application is pretty simple and the authentication is currently being managed by a database with usernames and passwords. I want to replace the existing accounts stored in the database with Google Apps accounts. I have downloaded the latest DotNetOpenAuth-3.4.3.10103 package and got the OpenIdRelyingPartyWebForms sample up and running on IIS. I have built my own login page using just a OpenIdButton object that points to a development Google domain. The button seems to work fine in FireFox, at least it is forwarding me to the Google Apps login, but nothing happens when I load the same page in IE. When I click the Google button, nothing happens, zip. The same is true for the Yahoo button in the login.aspx page given in the sample. • Stuck trying to get Log4Net to work with Dependency Injection

  I've got a simple winform test app i'm using to try some Log4Net Dependency Injection stuff. Anyways, when i check this line of code... return LogManager.GetLogger(MethodBase.GetCurrentMethod().DeclaringType); the DeclaringType type value is of the Service namespace, not the type of the Form (ie. X.Y.Z.Form1) which actually called the method. Without passing the type INTO method as another argument, is there anyway using reflection to figure out the real method that called it?

• Visual Studio 2008 closes unexpectedly

  I don't know if I can really get an answer to this question, but it really irks me and I would like to know if someone has an idea how to arrive to an answer. I have a pretty large solution in VS 2008 that maybe every week/every other week whenever I click properties to get to the project properties the IDE closes without warning. After that happens it will close EVERY time I try and view the properties. At that point I try and delete the .suo file, I resize the IDE, I close the tabs within the project, I restore default VS Settings(when I'm desperate). Eventually 20-30 minutes later I can actually view the properties. I haven't figured out exactly what fixes it, seems to be different every time. Once it's "fixed" I can't break it again so I can figure out what "fixed" it. This seems to be project specific, because I can view properties of other projects while this project is misbehaving. I guess my first question is, does VS log reasons for closing unexpectedly? Can I find out what the offending reason behind this is? The main frustration is I don't know that cause, nor the cure. Any ideas?

• Releasing Autoreleasepool crashes on iOS 4.0 (and only on 4.0)

  Hi there. I'm wondering what could cause this. I have several methods in my code that i call using performSelectorInBackground. Within each of these methods i have an Autoreleasepool that is being alloced/initialized at the beginning and released at the end of the method. this perfectly works on iOS 3.1.3 / 3.2 / 4.2 / 4.2.1 but it fataly crashes on iOS 4.0 with a EXC_BAD_ACCESS Exception that happens after calling [myPool release]. After I noticed this strange behaviour I was thinking about rewriting portions of my code and to make my app "less parallel" in case that the client os is 4.0. After I did that, the next point where the app crashed was within the ReachabilityCallback-Method from Apples Reachability "Framework". well, now I'm not quite sure what to do. The things i do within my threaded methods is pretty simple xml parsing (no cocoa calls or stuff that would affect the UI). After each method finishes it posts a notification which the coordinating-thread listens to and once all the parallelized methods have finished, the coordinating thread calls viewcontrollers etc... I have absolutely no clue what could cause this weird behaviour. Especially because Apples Code fails as well. any help is greatly appreciated! thanks, sam

• jquery lightbox multiple items to look like mac dashboard

  Hope the title says it all... I'm wondering if it's possible in any existing lightbox to pop up a look similar to the mac dashboard where multiple divs could be "on" in the front with the main webpage with a gray overlay. Basically something where a user clicks an icon on the main webpage to call, and then 4 separate content boxes are popped on top, but not in a window like a gallery. I'm thinking the top background used could be set to transparent and the individual items could be divs on the popped area, but before I reinvent the wheel, I thought I'd see if there's something like this that I just haven't found in my searches. UPDATE: 1/7/2011 I ended up using colorbox with a background behind my divs. It doesn't look like the mac with items having the bg behind them showing between them, but after talking to the designer I'm working with, that wasn't something they really needed anyhow. I think it MAY be possible changing some of the CSS though for the bg of the "popped" window. Colorbox seems to be pretty nice about making it clear what the CSS is doing and there are multiple example skins. Just my $0.02...

• XSLT 1.0: restrict entries in a nodeset

  Hi, Being relatively new to XSLT I have what I hope is a simple question. I have some flat XML files, which can be pretty big (eg. 7MB) that I need to make 'more hierarchical'. For example, the flat XML might look like this: <D0011> .... .... and it should end up looking like this: <D0011> .... .... I have a working XSLT for this, and it essentially gets a nodeset of all the b elements and then uses the 'following-sibling' axis to get a nodeset of the nodes following the current b node (ie. following-sibling::*[position() =$nodePos]). Then recursion is used to add the siblings into the result tree until another b element is found (I have parameterised it of course, to make it more generic). I also have a solution that just sends the position in the XML of the next b node and selects the nodes after that one after the other (using recursion) via a *[position() = $nodePos] selection. The problem is that the time to execute the transformation increases unacceptably with the size of the XML file. Looking into it with XML Spy it seems that it is the 'following-sibling' and 'position()=' that take the time in the two respective methods. What I really need is a way of restricting the number of nodes in the above selections, so fewer comparisons are performed: every time the position is tested, every node in the nodeset is tested to see if its position is the right one. Is there a way to do that ? Any other suggestions ? Thanks, Mike

  I'm trying to make my code as generic as possible. I'm trying to parse install time of a product installation. I will have two files in the product, one that has time stamp I need to parse and other file tells the language of the installation. I would really appreciate if you could clarify me on these doubts How to parse timestamps that have unicode characters if this is not the proper way? If parsing is failed, how could instTime able to hold some date, wrong though? • How can I go through a Set in JSP? (Hibernate Associations)

  Hi All, So I am pretty new to JSP. I have tried this a few ways. Ways that would make sense in PHP or automagicy frameworks... I am probably thinking too much in fact... I have a hibernate one to many association. That is class x has many of class y. In class x's view.jsp. I would like to grab all of class y, where the foreign key of y matches the primary key of x and display them. It seems that hibernate properly puts this stuff into a set. Now, the question is how can I iterate through this set and then output it's contents... I am kind of stumped here. • PDFBox: Problem with converting pdf page into image

  My mission is pretty simple: converting every single page of a pdf file into images. I tried using icepdf open source version to generate the images but they don't generate the image with the correct font. So I start using PDFBox instead. • Matching innermost braces with regex or strpos?

  I have a sort of mini parsing syntax I made up to help me streamline my view code in cakephp. Basically I have created a table helper which, when given a dataset and (optionally) a set of options for how to format the data will render out a table, as opposed to me looping though the data and editing it manually. It allows the user to be as complex or as simple as they like, it can get pretty powerful. However, In order to achieve this I had to make a simple parsing syntax. As a quick example the user would do something like so: $this->Table->data = $userData; $this->Table->elements['td']['data'] = array( '{:User.username:}', '{:User.created:}' => array('Time::nice') ); echo $this->Table->render(); And when rendering the table would then generate: <table> <tbody> <tr><td>rich97</td><td>Sun 21st 02:30pm</td></tr> </tbody> </table> The problem occurs then I try to nest the braces like so: {:User.levels.iconClasses.{:User.access:}:} Is there anyway I can only get the inner most brackets on the first time round and loop though until there are no matches? Or even do it in one go? Or even better use strpos? Here is my regex as it stands: '/\{\:([^}]+)\:\}/'

  Hi, I have a project that i need to compile number of cities in each state and make an insert statement for mysql database. I think the easiest way to do it is via python but since i m a complete noob i would like to reach out all the python gurus here. Here is what the input looks like. Example below is for Florida. cities = ['Boca Raton', 'Boynton Beach', 'Bradenton', 'Cape Coral', 'Deltona'] and this what the output should be. This will be done for 50 states so ability to plug the state name into the mysql statement would be icing on the cake if there is a easy way to do it. Also alphabetical order and auto increment for the idLocation would be great. • Trying to make a plugin system in C++

  I'm making a task-based program that needs to have plugins. Tasks need to have properties which can be easily edited, I think this can be done with Qt's Meta-Object Compiler reflection capabilities (I could be wrong, but I should be able to stick this in a QtPropertyBrowser?) For instance, "FileTasks.dll" could have tasks for deleting files, making files, etc. The only problem with Qt's plugin setup is I want to store X amount of Tasks in one .dll module. As far as I can tell, you can only load one interface per plugin (I could be wrong?). If so, the only possible way to do accomplish what I want is to create a FactoryInterface with string based keys which return the objects (as in Qt's Plug-And-Paint example), which is a terrible boilerplate that I would like to avoid. Anyone know a cleaner C++ plugin architecture than Qt's to do what I want? Also, am I safely assuming Qt's reflection capabilities will do what I want (i.e. able to edit an unknown dynamically loaded tasks' properties with the QtPropertyBrowser before dispatching)?

  Hi, I am just beginner with Perl, so if it sounds stupid - sorry for that :) My problem is - I am trying to write a class, which has an empty array, defined in constructor of a class. So I am doing this like this: package MyClass; use strict; sub new { my ($C) = @_; my $self = { items => () }; bless $self, ref $C || $C; } sub get { return $_[0]->{items}; } 1; Later I am testing my class with simple script: use strict; use Data::Dumper; use MyClass; my $o = MyClass->new(); my @items = $o->get(); print "length = ", scalar(@items), "\n", Dumper(@items); And while running the script I get following: $ perl my_test.pl length = 1 $VAR1 = undef; Why am I doing wrong what causes that I get my items array filled with undef? Maybe someone could show me example how the class would need to be defined so I would not get any default values in my array? Thanks!

  I am creating a game in C++. Now I am not sure on how I will distribute it yet - though I am pretty sure that I won't be asking money for it. And I am looking into a licensing and I wondered if there is a license that is suited for the undecided like me. My current releases (which are really really early versions of the game, with far from full functionality) are executable only. However, I am actually thinking that I might release the source on an open source license. For now, I am the only contributor, so that would be no problem as I only need my own permission to move to a less restrictive license. However, when I allow other people to contribute, I would need all their permissions to do so (right?). So I was wondering if there is a license that let's me distribute the game executable only for now, but will let me switch to a less restrictive license if I want. Basically I need a license in which contributors give permission to switch to a less restrictive license up front. Does anybody know of license (or other construction) that would allow me to do so?

I know this code might look strange, but it's based on a component system that I'm writing for a CMS. The aim is to be able to replace HTML tags in the template e.g.; <!-- component:customer-login --> with; <?php component_customer_login(); ?> I also need to call pre-render methods of the "Customer" class to validate forms before output is made etc. If anyone can think of a better way, please let me know but in the first instance, I'd like to know why I get the "Fatal error" mentioned above.   Hi all, I'm new to computer coding and have just finished coding an app and tested it on both 3G and 3GS. On 3GS, it worked as normal as on the simulator. However, when I tried to run it on 3G, the app becomes extremely slow. I'm not sure what's the reason and I hope someone could shed some light on me. Generally, my app has a couple of view controller classes, with one of them being the title page, one being the main page, one is setting, etc. I used a dissolve to transition from the title page to the main page. But even this simple transition shows un-smooth performance on a 3G! My other part of the app involves zooming in to some images by scaling up the images, switching images by push or dissolve upon receiving touch events, saving photos into photo library and storing and retrieving some photos in a folder and some data in a SQlite database, each showing un-smooth actions. Compared with some heavy graphic or heavy maths app, I think mine is pretty simple. I totally have no clue why the app would behave so slow and un-smooth that it is barely useful on a 3G. Any help/ direction would be much appreciated. Thanks for helping out.

• Is MarshalByRefObject special?

  .NET has a thing called remoting where you can pass objects around between separate appdomains or even physical machines. I don't fully understand how the magic is done, hence this question. In remoting there are two base ways of passing objects around - either they can be serialized (converted to a bunch of bytes and the rebuilt at the other end) or they can inherit from MarshalByRefObject, in which case .NET makes some transparent proxies and all method calls are forwarded back to the original instance. This is pretty cool and works like magic. And I don't like magic in programming. Looking at the MarshalByRefObject with the Reflector I don't see anything that would set it apart from any other typical object. Not even a weird internal attribute or anything. So how is the whole transparent proxy thing organized? Can I make such a mechanism myself? Can I make an alternate MyMarshalByRefObject which would not inherit from MarshalByRefObject but would still act the same? Or is MarshalByRefObject receiving some special treatment by the .NET engine itself and the whole remoting feat is non-duplicatable by mere mortals?

• Slider with buttons. How to improve?

  I need to make slider. I have content (which should shift horizontally) and two buttons - "right" and "left". If you press the button and hold it, the content starts to move (in the appropriate direction). If you not hold the button, then the movement stops. This behavior is copies the behavior of usual window scrollbar.
