• Help with replacing Mac factory install of apache with MAMP PRO so FileMaker will work with my other

  I am running Mac 10.4 and have been using MAMP PRO to host several websites I manage. Now that I have installed FileMaker Pro Server, it forces me to turn Web Sharing on in System Preference. So is it possible to either replace Apache with MAMP PRO's version? Or is it possible to get FileMaker Pro to use MAMP instead of Web Sharing? If so, how can I make it happen? Also, with FileMaker Instant Web Publishing, how , how can I make my domain link directly to where FileMaker publishes it? So what I want to be able to do is type http:///mydomain.com and it direct to mydomain.com:591/FMI/IWP/

  Hi! I'm trying to refactor some code and move some of my before_filter's from the controller to a class. Before: class UsersController < ApplicationController before_filter :find_user def find_user @user = User.find(params[:id]) end end ... After class FindUserFilter def self.filter(controller) @user = User.find(params[:id]) end end class UsersController < ApplicationController before_filter FindUserFilter end class GuestbookController < ApplicationController before_filter FindUserFilter end This results in an error because neither params[:id] nor @user is available/definable in the FindUserFilter-class. Any idea how to fix this?

• Using table-of-contents in code?

  Do you use table-of-contents for listing all the functions (and maybe variables) of a class in the beginning of big source code file? I know that alternative to that kind of listing would be to split up big files into smaller classes/files, so that their class declaration would be self-explanatory enough.. but some complex tasks require a lot of code. I'm not sure is it really worth it spending your time subdividing implementation into multiple of files? Or is it ok to create an index-listing additionally to the class/interface declaration?

  Hi, memory management still gives me grief. This time it is an NSDate iVar that I init using NSDate *myNSDate = [[NSDate date] firstDayOfMonth]; with a method call to - (NSDate *)firstDayOfMonth { NSDateComponents *tmpDateComponents = [[NSCalendar currentCalendar] components:NSYearCalendarUnit | NSMonthCalendarUnit | NSEraCalendarUnit | NSWeekCalendarUnit | NSWeekdayOrdinalCalendarUnit fromDate:self]; [tmpDateComponents setDay:1]; [tmpDateComponents setHour:0]; [tmpDateComponents setMinute:0]; [tmpDateComponents setSecond:0]; return [[NSCalendar currentCalendar] dateFromComponents:tmpDateComponents]; } At the end of the init call the retain count is at 1 (Note the iVar is not defined as a property). When I step into the viewWillAppear method the myNSDate has vanished. I tried to do an explicit retain on it, but that only lasts until I update the iVar using the above method again. I though - ok - I add the retain to the return of the function, but that makes the leak analyser throw up an error. What am I doing wrong?

• Differences between WPF Custom Control Library and plain Class Library?

  I posted a question a few months ago about sharing resource dictionaries across assemblies. It turns out you can do that using the Component Resource Key markup extension. At the time, I could only get it working with a WPF Custom Control project, not with a plain Class Library project. Now I need to use an existing plain Class Library project to host a shared resource dictionary. That means I need to retrofit the Class Library project to support the Component Resource Key markup extension. I have added a Themes folder and a Generic.xaml resource dictionary document to the Class Library project, as well as references to PresentationCore, PresentationFramework, and WindowsBase. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to do the trick. So, here is my question: Other than the above, what does a WPF Custom Control Library project have that a plain Class Library project doesn't? Or, to put it another way, what else could I add to my class library project to get this feature working? Thanks.

• Wordpress podcasting with youtube video hosting

  I'm trying to build a site based on Wordpress for a client. Eventually it will be used to publish videos which could be hosted locally, but to reduce costs it would be nicer if we could host all our videos on somewhere like YouTube or Vimeo. I'm looking for a plugin or a way of hacking an existing plugin in order to achieve this. The idea is that when we list a new item on the site, users of iTunes / iPod and any other (more) standards compliant podcatcher should be able to view the video. Ideally I'd like to get away without writing a single line of code, but that may not be possible. The best solution for me is the one which requires the least amount of work!

  I have a Ruby class called LibraryItem. I want to associate with every instance of this class an array of attributes. This array is long and looks something like ['title', 'authors', 'location', ...] Note that these attributes are not really supposed to be methods, just a list of attributes that a LibraryItem has. Next, I want to make a subclass of LibraryItem called LibraryBook that has an array of attributes that includes all the attributes of LibraryItem but will also include many more. Eventually I will want several subclasses of LibraryItem each with their own version of the array @attributes but each adding on to LibraryItem's @attributes (e.g., LibraryBook, LibraryDVD, LibraryMap, etc.). So, here is my attempt: class LibraryItem < Object class << self; attr_accessor :attributes; end @attributes = ['title', 'authors', 'location',] end class LibraryBook < LibraryItem @attributes.push('ISBN', 'pages'] end This does not work.   How to place a drop down for the virtual column, in the ruby on rails. The virutal column does not exist in my table , but I want to get the value from the drop down ,when user saves the data. for example, product_price is a virtual column , which doesn't exist in my database table. But I would like to have a dropdown, with product price to be displayed from another table. And when user selects the product_price, the selected product_price should be gettable in an object as self.product_price. Virtual column for labels is working fine, but for drop down its not working for me..any info woud be Thankful...

• Code generating SOAP Web Service Proxy objects yourself - C#/.NET 3.5/T4

  Is there a framework or code already available that will give me more control over the code that gets generated based off my web references? I'm working at a new company. And the Web Services Proxies are all self contained in their own assembly. I would really rather generate this whole project. Every time they change something on the Services-side (Java) the WSDL references have to be dropped and re-added. (I can't figure out what those guys are doing on their end that messes with the WSDL bad enough that this needs to be done so much) Their are 10 of these references. I'd rather codegen the whole thing at compile time. Every time. What are my options?

My implementation could be buggy and i feel there must be a better and more smarter way. any ideas please?

If a date has been filled in though, I want to just have the default BorderBrush. I still want to be able to style the default BorderBrush in Blend, so I don't want to hardcode the default borderbrush of the DatePicker.   I have set up Zend Server CE on a windows machine and am having the hardest time setting up virtual hosts. No matter what I do, links on my local machine are showing "localhost" in the path causing all images and links to not work properly. I have the following in my vhosts file and while the site loads up, most links show "local host in them". Please help. I've completed all the things (the log in and message passing part) but when I passes the score via global variable, I am getting only null as a value and not the score that I want. Is there any way to pass data or string to Face book and write on a wall? • Hosting Javascript/CSS file on CDN similar to Google hosting jQuery

  Hello, I am wondering if there are any hosts or if I can host my file (JS & CSS) on Google so that they are cached and load real quick (due to CDN and gzip). A number of my customers use these files and I would prefer if they could somehow include this to file to receive the JS file. Ideally with filename.js?publickey=sdfgsdfg (which will be tied to a particular domain name). The problem is that my hosting needs are very small- only about 100kb. Any suggestions. My problem is that the customers using the JS & CSS file, have no clue about gzipping content or caching (as their shared hosts do not support it), as a result causes the JS/CSS to take forever to load. Am wondering if I can leverage an existing free service, or I do not mind paying either. Thank you for your time.

When I export the sql from the sqlite database it created, created_at is defined as type "timestamp" and the values look like: 290902422.72624 Nine digits before the . and then some fraction. What is this format? It's not epoch time and it's not julianday format. Epoch would be: 1269280338.81213 julianday would be: 2455278.236746875 (notice only 7 digits before the . not 9 like I have) How can I convert a number like 290902422.72624 to epoch time? Thanks!

• How do you run a uncompiled CGI?

  I'm going to get right to it. iPage shared hosting. Trying to use mimetex.cgi to render math. Source code is at the link. After preparing everything just as I had with a different shared host (which worked), I get errors. Tech support tells me I need to upload the uncompiled source and use that instead. ??? Rather than going with them just being ignorant and wrong, I'm going to assume I'm missing something. How am I supposed to execute and make use of the uncompiled source code? What the hell is wrong with a hosting service that doesn't support running compiled CGI written in C (as far as I can tell)?

My RootViewController's nib has not been changed since x-code created it for me. My MainWindow_iPhone.xib also is stock. What's causing this?

But I wish I could use the old way of calling a view ( html.erb ) file and send that code has the body. I've read the documentation but haven't found a way to do it. Has anyone found a way to do it?
