• need to align part of list item to right of li - using CSS3 Jquery column-layout

  Using this jquery script to acheive CSS3 3-columns, to display a list of members alphabetically. I need it to display this way, which is does: A D B E C F Here is what I am using http://www.csscripting.com/css-multi-column/example6.php? (using this js file http://www.csscripting.com/js/v1.0beta/css3-multi-column.js) To the right of each member, it has their phone extension, which I want to float to the right, so it easy to read. I tried putting the phone extension within a div and span and when I do that, it tends to screw up at the last item in each column, by placing the person's name correctly, but their extension is the very first item in the next column. • Problems Executing iPhone "GenericKeychain" Example

  I can't get apple's "GenericKeychain" example to run. I have replaced all 5 occurrences, as mentioned in the readme file, of "YOUR_APP_ID_HERE.com.yourcompany" with my own string: se.[company name].[project name].demo. The compilation goes fine but when trying to run it on the phone, an error saying "The executable was signed with invalid entitlements" appears. And yes, I have an ad hoc provisioning profile installed. I've tried to add "Entitlements.plist" with "get-task-allow" checked but with the same result. Has anyone been able to run the example? Its a great device, but I don't like how Sprint and HTC got replaced all of the native apps that were added on after 2.0 such as Gallery. The Gallery app on the phone uses flickr and facebook connect. I want to sync my Picasa albums. How can i get put the true Google applications on this device?

• Problem with DWR and Android-Browser

  Hello everyone, I am experiencing a problem with accessing an application from the Android-browser. The application uses DWR to persist connections to the clients that are connected with it. Everything works fine for me, except that if the application does not send any data to the client on the Android-phone for 2 minutes, the connection seems to be lost and no data arrive at the client. The same scenario works just fine on Firefox, Opera and Chrome. If the pause between two data transfers is less than 2 minutes, it works just fine. So, now my question: Is there some timeout setting for the android browser that I am missing? Or is this some built-in bug/feature/whatever that I cannot circumvent? I know that I could prevent this from happening with some sort of heartbeat, I would just like to why this is happening.   Hi All, From 4.0 apple has extended their api support to access the videos and photos from the phone. I am using only iPhone 4.0 simulator to test my application. When I try to save the video as apple has mentioned in their api docs, its giving the error something like "Error Saving the Asset". • How do I set up one time password authentication?

  I have a home network which I access remotely quite a bit. But I'm worried about security. While I do have strong passwords, I'm worried that someone will acquire my password and use it to gain access. I heard about "one time passwords" and even got to use them at my university. We'd just press a button on a device (or run an application on a phone) and get a generated password that would work for the next minute or so. How can I set something like that up? Are there systems that are easy to use and set up? Has anyone played around with an SDK of one of these systems? Where can I get a starter kit from? EDIT: I'm running a mixed Linux and Windows network, and I'm vaguely hoping to use this for authenticating on both operating systems. (No, there's no domain controller, but I can set one up using Samba, I suppose.)

  I have a schema like : employees (eno, ename, zip, hdate) customers (cno, cnmae, street, zip, phone) zipcodes (zip, city) where zip is pk in zipcodes and fk in other tables. I have to write an update query which updates all the occurence of zipcode 4994 to 1234 throughout the database. update zipcodes,customers,employees set zip = 0 where customers.zip = zipcodes.zip and employees.zip = zipcodes.zip; but i know i am not doing it right. Is there a way to update all the tables zip ina single update query?

  I would like to launch Apple's Stocks app to show information for a particular stock, on a non-jailbroken phone. I'm not interesting in how to get a quote or graph a stock myself, just opening Stocks.app. I was hoping that the Stocks app would have a custom URL format, so opening a URL like stocks://AAPL would do the trick. But I haven't found anything documenting such a scheme, and suspect it doesn't exist. Any other ideas, or is it impossible to integrate with the native Stocks app?

  Does anyone know if the International Assist feature on the iPhone works when dialing a number using the tel:// URL scheme from an application? For those unfamiliar, IA automatically prefixes the "+1" to US numbers when using the iPhone internationally. I know that this works when dialing from either the built-in Contacts or Phone apps, but can't find anything stating that it works when dialing numbers from an application. Also, is there any documentation as to whether this feature is included on Canadian (Rogers) or European iPhones (or is it only used by AT&T)? If IA does not work when dialing with a custom app, can someone point to the API that would allow me to detect that the use is roaming on a foreign network so I can essentially duplicate IA's functionality? Any help greatly appreciated!

  I am going to develop a phonegap application which is pretty simple. I need to implement an authentication and some simple data transfer back and forth to the phone and server. I prefer to use ASP.NET as a web service and our database is MS SQL but I am not sure what approach should I take to create a secure communication between Phonegap App and webservice. The problem with a simple AJAX request is limitation in cross-domain and I’m not sure if JSONP is a good option. I was wondering if someone can tell me what technology I should use in order to make a semi secure connection which works with PhoneGap (html5, javascript ) and .Net webservice. I understand that it’s a general question but I need to know what technology is the best in such a case. thanks

• iOS 5 Hanging on ASIHTTPRequests

  So I have an app that runs on iOS 3.2 - 4.x. It uses ASIHTTPRequest to make all the REST API calls. Ever since my team and I upgraded three of our iPhone 4's to iOS 5, The app will hang and show the ActivityIndicator indefinitely. I looked at the server logs and the requests aren't hitting the server. However, if I press the iPhone home button then open the app again, the request will go through and I will receive the data, business as normal. For some reason the requests are never triggered until I reopen the app. Another weird tidbit, the app works in Xcode 4.2 and the iPhone simulator. The app also works on an iPad2 with iOS 5 (the app is iPhone only). Would this be an ASIHTTPRequest issue? Not too sure how to pinpoint the issue since there is no crash and only happens on the phone. Any insight would be much appreciated! Thanks.

  I am looking for an SMS Gateway service provider with a PHP API that allows me to: Send out SMS messages (including small binaries) to mobile phones Receive SMS messages from mobile phones Send reverse billing SMS text to mobile phone Messages can be sent/received to/from mobiles globally (or at least most countries) Allow bulk sending of text messages Ideally, the API should be relatively straightforward an easy to use. Last but not the least, the service should provide good value for money (i.e. it should be inexpensive or relatively inexpensive for the features it provides). I am (currently) based in the United Kingdom (I dont know if this is relevant in the choise of SMS service provider). I would ideally like a recommendation from someone who is currently using (or has succesfully used) such a service.

• Stack memory in Android

  I'm writing an app that has a foreground service, content provider, and a Activity front end that binds to the service and gets back a List of objects using AIDL. The service does work and updates a database. If I leave the activity open for 4-8+ hours, and go to the "Running Services" section under settings on the phone (Nexus One) an unusually large amount of memory being used is shown (~42MB). I figure there is a leak. When I check the heap memory i get Heap size:~18MB, ~2MB allocated, ~16MB free. Analyzing the hprof in Eclipse MAT seems fine, which leads me to theorize that memory is leaking on the stack. Is this even possible? If it is, what can I do to stop or investigate the leak? Is the reported memory usage on the "Running Services" section of android even correct (I assume it is)? Another note: I have been unable to reproduce this issue when the UI is not up (with only the service running)

  I am having problems trying to compile my App to my iPhone. I upgraded to the new SDK and have 4.0 on my phone... which I did not do that. • Apple has bigger market capitalization than Microsoft

  Should I worry that my Microsoft programming skills (C#, .NET, WinAPI) will be obsolete in a few years, because everybody will be using Mac OS X, iPhone OS or some other Apple-originated OS? According to reuters, Apple has now bigger market capitalization than Microsoft. I know there is probably huge speculative bubble around Apple's shares, but just look at this graph (taken from business insider): I also know Windows have currently 90% of the OS market share, so we (Win devs) should be OK for a few years, but who knows, maybe in 10 years, it will be just 40%, and 0% on mobile phone OS market. Personally, I'm not much worried, because I think Microsoft will fight hard for their desktop OS market share, but I'm interested in your opinions.

• Best jQuery/Prototype book for complex ajax?

  I've been working on a complex app with one main dashboard. I don't particularly like the design because it tries to do too much on one page. So the lead developer thought it would be a good idea to use ajax - because the page is so big. Refreshing part of it is far faster than loading it again. Problem is there's several ways data can be used. Adding items Editing rows Performing actions on selected rows (selected using a checkbox) Changing single items (like location, phone) My problem is making GENERALIZABLE ajax code that can operate on the data in a div, using class names to assemble the proper information for the ajax call. I did pretty well, but can't help but want to see if there's a better way to do it.
