  • ASP.Net Webservice - Constructors with Parameters

    - by Ben
Hi, I'm fairly new to WebService developement and have just set up my own webservice (ASP.Net 3.5, Visual Studio 2008 .asmx file). I can not find a way of setting up my webservice to take parameters on the constructor. If i create a constructor that takes parameters, it is not then shown when i hook up to the webservice from my application (it only shows a parameterless constructor). Am i missing something blatently obvious, or is this not possible (and why not)? Thanks.

  • CSS sliding doors technique for buttons, IE8 problem

    - by Kelvin
    Hello All! I used sliding doors technique, explained here: http://www.oscaralexander.com/tutorials/how-to-make-sexy-buttons-with-css.html With only one exception, that I decided to add one more image for "hover" effect. My code works well for all browsers, except IE8 (and maybe earlier versions). a.submit-button:active and a.submit-button:active span are simply blocked by "hover" and never work. Does anyone knows solution for this? Thanks a lot in advance! <style type="text/css"> .clear { /* generic container (i.e. div) for floating buttons */ overflow: hidden; width: 100%; } a.submit-button { background: transparent url('images/button-1b.png') no-repeat scroll top right; color: #fff; display: block; float: left; font: bold 13px sans-serif, arial; height: 28px; margin-right: 6px; padding-right: 18px; /* sliding doors padding */ text-decoration: none; outline: none; } a.submit-button span { background: transparent url('images/button-1a.png') no-repeat; display: block; line-height: 14px; padding: 6px 0 8px 24px; } a.submit-button:hover { background-position: right -28px; outline: none; /* hide dotted outline in Firefox */ color: #fff; } a.submit-button:hover span { background-position: 0px -28px; } a.submit-button:active { background-position: right -56px; color: #e5e5e5; outline: none; } a.submit-button:active span { background-position: 0px -56px; padding: 7px 0 7px 24px; /* push text down 1px */ } </style> And this is the button: <div class="clear"> <a class="submit-button" href="#" onclick="this.blur();"><span>Hello All</span></a> </div>

  • Which HTML and CSS standards reached W3C Recommendation status?

    - by mxn 4000
Could anyone please tell me which HTML/XHTML and CSS versions reached "Recommendation" (not "Candidate Recommendation") status? I tried to find the documents at http://www.w3.org/TR/tr-status-stds and they appear to be: 1) "XHTML™ 1.0 The Extensible HyperText Markup Language (Second Edition)" 2) "Cascading Style Sheets (CSS1) Level 1 Specification" Please correct me if I'm wrong. These are kinda neanderthal technologies...

  • IE6 "frame" layout with 100% height and scrollbars

    - by Joe
    I want to achieve a simple "frame" layout with fixed header, fixed left navigation area, and a main content area that fills 100% of the remainder of the viewport with scrollbars if necessary. My best attempt is below - but when I add enough content to the main div to force scrolling, I see that the scrollbar extends below the bottom of the viewport. What am I doing wrong? Or what is IE6 doing wrong and how can I fix it? NB please don't recommend using a more recent browser - I'd love to but can't. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head> <title></title> <style type="text/css"> html, body { height:100%; margin:0; padding:0; overflow:hidden; } div { border:0; margin:0; padding:0; } div#top { background-color:#dddddd; height:100px; } div#left { background-color:#dddddd; float:left; width:120px; height:100%; overflow:hidden; } div#main { height:100%; overflow:auto; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="top">Title</div> <div id="left">LeftNav</div> <div id="main"> Content <p> Lorem ipsum ... </p> ... repeated several times ... </div> </body> </html>

  • DirectSho GMFBridge not working as expected

    - by user1327407
I am trying to understand why wont the source filter connect with VMR9? mediaController.InsertSourceFilter(sinkFilter, m_pRenderGraph, out sourceFilter); var vmr = new VideoMixingRenderer9(); m_pRenderGraph.AddFilter(vmr as IBaseFilter, "VMR"); IBaseFilter vmrBase = FilterGraphTools.FindFilterByClsid(m_pRenderGraph, Clsid.VideoMixingRenderer9); IVMRFilterConfig9 xd = vmrBase as IVMRFilterConfig9; if (xd != null) { int status = xd.SetRenderingMode(VMR9Mode.Windowless); } FilterGraphTools.ConnectFilters(m_pRenderGraph, sourceFilter, vmrBase, true); mediaController.BridgeGraphs(sinkFilter, sourceFilter); Without going into too much detail: Line „ConnectFilters“ fails because no intermediate filters are found to make that connection work. When trying to debug, I can clearly see that Source filter is not spitting out anything useful. (It’s like that the sink<--source transfer never works), so that’s why it wont connect. However, when I get source filter „Output 1“ pin, and then use myGraph.Render(source_output_pin), it works. Data is being sent from sink to source and everything connects automatically. However the problem is that the wrong VMR is inserted there. It’s VMR Renderer. I would like to have VMR9, that’s why im doing it. Why wont it work with VMR9 and why does source filter not show correct media type. Thank you.

  • dhtmlxgrid: getting an xml string of grid data

    - by user823527
The dhtmlxgrid documentation is saying that I should be able to get a string with the grid data with the serialize feature. mygrid.setSerializationLevel(true, true); var myXmlStr = mygrid.serialize(); I'd like to use that feature to get the updated grid data. But I don't get the xml string. Is that feature not available in the open source version? If I could get a csv string, that would also be OK. But I don't get that either. var gridcsv=mygrid.serializeToCSV(); document.getElementById("mytextareax").value = gridcsv; The html information for the grid is: <a href="#" onclick="savegrid();">Save Grid</a> <textarea id="mytextareax"><rows><row id='r1'><cell>index ... </rows></textarea> <div id="mytextarea" style="width:400px; height: 400px;"> </div> <div id="gridbox" style="width:600px; height:270px; background-color:white;"></div> <a href='#alfa' onClick="ser()">Reload grid with another structure</a> <br> The script for creating the grid is: <script> mygrid = new dhtmlXGridObject('gridbox'); mygrid.setImagePath("../../codebase/imgs/"); mygrid.loadXML("../common/grid500.xml"); function ser(){ mygrid.clearAll(true); mygrid.loadXML("../common/gridH3.xml"); } function savegrid(){ alert('save grid'); mygrid.setSerializationLevel(true, true); var myXmlStr = mygrid.serialize(); /* document.getElementById("mytextarea").innerHTML = myXmlStr; */ document.getElementById("mytextareax").value = myXmlStr; alert(myXmlStr); } </script> Is there any way to get the data out of the dhtmlx grid to be able to create my own xml file from it?

  • Where to download Fabrikam Fiber Call center code base?

    - by PraveenLearnsEveryday
I am trying to download for Asp.Net application for Fabrikam Fiber Call center. It was used by Larry guger in his presentation on http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/TechEd/NorthAmerica/2012/DEV365 about "Advanced IntelliTrace in Production with Visual Studio 2012". It would be a great help as it is perfect code base to try out all new VS 2012 features at one go. If this is not the right forum to ask this question please suggest. Thanks for the help.

  • Eclipse Intro / Welcome page

    - by Raven
Hello, is it possible to have links on the welcome page which point to defined commands and for example, launch an dialog? I am thinking of having a welcome page, pointing out the steps what to do first, like: 1) change language (click here) 2) set up database connection (click here) 3) start working (click here) "click here" should be a link to call the actual dialog to set things up. I am using Eclipse with the command style menu. Grateful for any suggestions!

  • Drawing a text in OnRender method

    - by Eden
I have a class which inherits from Canvas. On the OnRender method I draw a text which is being covered by the controls that are on the canvas. Is there a method to place the text "above" the controls? is there an OnRenderComplete method (that is being called after the visual tree was rendered)?

  • QTableWidget: How can I get tighter lines with less vertical spacing padding?

    - by Dirk Eddelbuettel
The QTableWdiget is fabulous for simple grid displays. Changing colors, fonts, etc is straightforward. However, I did not manage to give the grid a 'tighter' look with less vertical whitespace. I see that the Qt documentation talks (eg here) about margin border padding around widgets, but when I set these I only get changes around the entire grid widget rather than inside. How can I set this (with a style sheet, or hard-coded options) directly to make the QTableWidget display tighter?

  • StyleCop SA1124 DoNotUseRegions is reasonable?

    - by Yanhua
SA1124 DoNotUseRegions suggest that region should not be used anywhere. Is it really reasonable? I think region is a way to group relative code together and make large class easy to read, for example, if you generate interface method in for class, a region will be automatically inserted by visual studio. I would like to remove this rule while checking code style. May I know your ideal on this rule?

  • Correct OOP design without getters?

    - by kane77
I recently read that getters/setters are evil and I have to say it makes sense, yet when I started learning OOP one of the first things I learned was "Encapsulate your fields" so I learned to create class give it some fields, create getters, setters for them and create constructor where I initialize these fields. And every time some other class needs to manipulate this object (or for instance display it) I pass it the object and it manipulate it using getters/setters. I can see problems with this approach. But how to do it right? For instance displaying/rendering object that is "data" class - let's say Person, that has name and date of birth. Should the class have method for displaying the object where some Renderer would be passed as an argument? Wouldn't that violate principle that class should have only one purpose (in this case store state) so it should not care about presentation of this object. Can you suggest some good resources where best practices in OOP design are presented? I'm planning to start a project in my spare time and I want it to be my learning project in correct OOP design..
