• SetCursor reverts after a mouse move

  I am using SetCursor to set the system cursor to my own image. The code looks something like this: // member on some class HCURSOR _cursor; // at init time _cursor = LoadCursorFromFile("somefilename.cur"); // in some function SetCursor(_cursor); When I do this the cursor does change, but on the first mouse move message it changes back to the default system arrow cursor. This is the only code in the project that is setting the cursor. What do I need to do to make the cursor stay the way I set it?

  Hey, I have been given a general explanation of how a computer boots up. However a very loose definition to the term 'boot file' was given. Could someone explain 'boot file' to me in a very simple but concise manner? I have read about the POST, the clearing of registers, BIOS in the CMOS, etc. What I understand is that the boot file is different to the boot program. the boot program gets the system ready to accept an OS while the boot file contains some of the parameters by which the system will operate.   Hi, assume that I have the following code fragment operation1(); bw.close(); operation2(); When I call BufferedReader.close() from my code, I am assuming my JVM makes a system call that ensures that the buffer has been flushed and written to disk. I want to know if close() waits for the system call to complete its operation or does it proceed to operation2() without waiting for close() to finish. To rephrase my question, when I do operation2(), can I assume that bw.close() has completed successfully?

  Using log4net we would like to log all calls to our ASP.NET MVC controller action methods. The logs should include information about any parameters that were passed to the controller. Rather than hand-coding this in each action method we hope to use an AoP approach with Interceptors via Unity. We already have this working with some other classes that use interfaces (using the InterfaceInterceptor). However, we're not sure how to proceed with our controllers. Should we re-work them slightly to use an interface, or is there a simpler approach? Edit The VirtualMethodInterceptor seems to be the correct approach, however using this results in the following exception: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.   Hi, I am getting a client date in javscript function using "new date()" object. But this object is considering the properties set for Date&Time control in the control panel of the system. For example, If I check the check box of Date&Time control of the system (control panel) "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes", then I am getting the date(from javscript) according to the Daylight savings time and if I uncheck it, I am getting the date according to the standard time. What I need is to get the date from a Javscript function irrespective of the Date&Time control of the control panel. Thanks Rupa.

  I am currently building a system which will have entities that will have scores like reputation etc.. I will have a service that will check for certain rules having been triggered, and will perform certain logic if they are triggered. Previously I have used say an Enum for doing this when I have only had to store an id and a description. public enum ShoppingCratCalculation { PartialCalculation = 1, CompleteCalculation =2 } But in this situation I want to carry more information, such as the modification to reputation, all in one place. I'm essentially asking what data structure would be best suited to storing this information, for each rule in the system. 1. Description = string ("User forgot to write a review") 2. DB id = int (23) 3. Rep score modification = int (-5) Maybe a little class (Rule) with these as properties , and then just a list? Does anyone have any best practice suggestions for this kind of struct?

  hey everybody, I have a jsp page which contains the code which prints all files in a given directory and their file paths. The code is if (dir.isDirectory()) { File[] dirs = dir.listFiles(); for (File f : dirs) { if (f.isDirectory() && !f.isHidden()) { File files[] = f.listFiles(); for (File d : files) { if (d.isFile() && !d.isHidden()) { System.out.println(d.getName()+ d.getParent() + (d.length()/1024)); } } } if (f.isFile() && !f.isHidden()) { System.out.println(f.getName()+ f.getParent() + (f.length()/1024)); } } } The problem is that it prints the complete file path, which when accessed from tomcat is invalid. For example, the code spits out the following path: /usr/local/tomcat/sites/web_tech/images/scores/blah.jpg and I want it to only print the path up to /images ie /images/scores/blah.jpg I know I could just mess around with an actual string, ie splitting it or string matching, but is there an easier way to do it?   This question might be long, but I want to provide much information. Overview: I'm creating a Stock Quotes Ticker app for Blackberry. But I'm having problems with my StringBuffer that contains an individual Stock information. Process: My app connects to our server via SocketConnection. The server sends out a formatted set of strings that contains the latest Stock trade. So whenever a new trade happens, the server will send out an individual Stock Quote of that trade. Through an InputStream I am able to read that information and place each character in a StringBuffer that is referenced by Threads. By parsing based on char3 I am able to determine a set of stock quote/information. char1 - to separate data char3 - means end of a stock quote/information sample stock quote format sent out by our server: stock_quote_name(char 1)some_data(char1)some_data(char1)(char3) My app then parses that stock quote to compare certain data and formats it how it will look like when displayed in the screen. When trades happen gradually(slow) the app works perfectly. However.. Problem: When trades happen too quickly and almost at the same time, My app is not able to handle the information sent efficiently. The StringBuffer has its contents combined with the next trade. Up to now we have been using VSS, but nowadays more powerful source control systems exists like TFS, SVN, etc. We are planning to migrate our projects to Visual Studio 2010, so the first idea coming to mind is to start using TFS 2010. I have never worked with SVN and other version control systems. My question is: how good is TFS compared to other source control systems? UserTransactions - Contains information regarding a specific purchase of a stock made by a user : the value of the purchase along with a reference to Stock for the current purchase. db.Model python modules: class Stocks (db.Model): stockname = db.StringProperty(multiline=True) dailyPercentChange=db.FloatProperty(default=1.0) class UserTransactions (db.Model): buyer = db.UserProperty() value=db.FloatProperty() stockref = db.ReferenceProperty(Stocks) Once an hour I need to update the database: update the daily percent change in Stocks and then update the value of all entities in UserTransactions that refer to that stock. In the dashboard, I see that the task.py takes around 65% of the CPU (Stock.py takes around 20%-30%) and I am using almost all of the 6.5 free CPU hours given to me by app engine. I have no problem to enable billing and pay for additional CPU, but the problem is the scaling of the system… Using 6.5 CPU hours for 100 stocks is very poor. I was wondering, given the requirements of the system as mentioned above, if there is a better and more efficient implementation (or just a small change that can help with the current implemntation) than the one presented here. • Loading embedded resource on Windows 7

  Hello, I have an app that works just fine on my WinXP machine. However, when I try running it on my Win7 machine, it fails whenever it tries to load an embedded resource. The resources are all there (I can see them using Reflector). The lines that fail are all of the form: Splash.Image = new Bitmap(typeof(ContainerForm).Assembly.GetManifestResourceStream("SplashTest.Resources.Logo.gif")); And they all fail with the same exception: Exception='System.ArgumentException: Parameter is not valid. at System.Drawing.Bitmap..ctor(Stream stream) I don't understand why this is not working on my Win7 machine but does on my usual WinXP dev machine. Any ideas?

• User created Validator wont call Client side validation Javascript on 'complex' user control.

  Hi All, I have created a user control (from System.Web.UI.UserControl), and created my own validator for the user control (from System.Web.UI.WebControls.BaseValidator). Everything works ok until I try to get the user control to do client side validation. While trying to debug this issue I have set 'Control to Validate' to a text box instead of the custom user control, and the client side script works fine! It appears to me that it has an a issue with my composite user control I have created. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Has anyone else seen client side validation fail on custom user controls? Some extra info : The composite control is a drop down list and 'loader image', as it is a ajax enabled drop down list (using ICallbackEventHandler).
