• Unique ID for WORD2007 paragraph

  Hello, I am writing large WORD2007 socuments, which are often being changed. I ahve to number paragraphs with stationary unique unmbers, that will not change while changing the documents. The numbers should be unique, and will not change even if previous numbers are deleted. The order of the list is not mandatory, and addition of a new number before existing numbers is possible (for instance: the sequence 1, 4, 3 means that paragraphs 1-3 were written, then #2 was deleted, then #5 was added. #3 was not affected by the later editing) The mechanism should be internal to the document, as I am working on line and off line. The numbers are allocated to every document indovidually. Since I don't know to program under WORD, I'd appreciate getting complete solution. REgards Ganish

  Hi It seems that Objective C jumps thru hoops to make seemingly simple tasks extremely difficult. I simply need to create a sequence of strings, image1.jpg, image2.jpg, etc etc ie in a loop var imgString:String='image'+i+'.jpg; I assume a best practice is to use a NSMutableString with appendString method? What am I doing wrong??   I have a local collection of recordId's (integers). I need to retrieve records that have every one of their child records' ids in that local collection. Here is my query: public List<int> OwnerIds { get; private set; } ... filteredPatches = from p in filteredPatches where OwnerIds.All(o => p.PatchesOwners.Select(x => x.OwnerId).Contains(o)) select p; I am getting this error: Local sequence cannot be used in Linq to SQL implementation of query operators except the Contains() operator. I get that .All() isn't supported by Linq to SQL, but is there a way to do what I am trying to do?

  I have a Dictionary<int, MyClass> It contains 100,000 items 10,000 items value is populated whilst 90,000 are null.   Hello! What would be a suitable way to inject a raw TCP packet with Python? For example, I have the payload consisting of hexadecimal numbers and I want to send that sequence of hexadecimal numbers to a network daemon: so that if I choose to send 'abcdef', I see 'abcdef' on the wire too. But not '6162636566' as in the case of: new = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_STREAM) new.connect(('127.0.0.1', 9999)) new.send('abcdef') Can I use Python's SOCK_RAW for this purpose? • Can YQL parse web sites requiring cookie-based authentication?

  First, my use case: I'm trying to use YQL's built in XPATH capabilities to scrape content from Yahoo! Fantasy Sports. It uses some sort of cookie-based authentication scheme. Basically, the sequence is: 1) Do an HTTP GET on the Yahoo! Login page 2) Parse the hidden inputs from the response and do an HTTP PUT with your Yahoo! Login on the form URL 3) Use the cookies returned from step 2 to GET any of the Fantasy Sports! websites that you have access to My question is, does YQL support doing this to scrape data? The only authentication based examples I've seen use OAuth, but I haven't seen any examples of using YQL to parse websites with cookie-based authentication schemes

  By default Rails allows users of our application to input non-utf8 data, such as: ¶®«¼ However when we attempt to retrieve the data from our database and render it in a template Rails incorrectly assumes that it is in UTF-8 format and throws an error. ArgumentError: invalid byte sequence in UTF-8 What is the best way to handle this? I have seen one fix that suggested sanitizing the data in every place the user can input it. However, that would involve changing a considerable amount of code and it would strip out the characters entirely. Ideally we would want some characters converted to their UTF-8 equivalents. Our environment: Ruby: 1.9.1 Rails 2.3.5 MySql Gem: 2.8.1 This is a serious and urgent problem for us so your answers are very appreciated!

  Within a method, I am using i and j as temporary variables while calculating other variables. What is an idiomatic way of getting rid of i and j once they are no longer needed? Another alternative would be to put the code into their own methods, but that may detract from readability.

• PLT Scheme Extracting field ids from structures

  I want to see if I can map PLT Scheme structure fields to columns in a DB. I've figured out how to extract accessor functions from structures in PLT scheme using the fourth return value of: (struct-type-info) However the returned procedure indexes into the struct using an integer. Is there some way that I can find out what the field names were at point of definition? Looking at the documentation it seems like this information is "forgotten" after the structure is defined and exists only via the generated-accessor functions: (<id>-<field-id> s). So I can think of two possible solutions: Search the namespace symbols for ones that start with my struct name (yuk); Define a custom define-struct macro that captures the ordered sequence of field-names inside some hash that is keyed by struct name (eek).

• I need to Split a string based on a complex delimiter

  In C# I need to split a string (a log4j log file) into array elements based on a particular sequence of characters, namely "nnnn-nn-nn nn:nn:nn INFO". I'm currently splitting this log file up by newlines, which is fine except when the log statements themselves contain newlines. I don't control the input (the log file) so escaping them somehow is not an option. It seems like I should be able to use a comparator or a regex to identify the strings, but String.Split does not have an option like that. Am I stuck rolling my own, or is there a pattern or framework component that can be of help here?

• Short unique id in php

  I want to create a unique id but uniqid() is giving something like '492607b0ee414'. What i would like is something similar to what tinyurl gives: '64k8ra'. The shorter, the better. The only requirements are that it should not have an obvious order and that it should look prettier than a seemingly random sequence of numbers. Letters are preferred over numbers and ideally it would not be mixed case. As the number of entries will not be that many (up to 10000 or so) the risk of collision isn't a huge factor. Any suggestions appreciated.

Is there a way to reuse the same table generator (dog_gen) in other entity? I want to keep the same id sequence in two independent Entities, say dog=1, dog=2, dog=3, cat=4, cat=5, dog=6 and so on... Both entities don't share a common superclass to implement some kind of inheritance with the id property. If I add the @GeneratedValue( generator="dog_gen") on my cat entity, omitting the @TableGenerator declaration throws an Exception saying it can't find the generator when starting the context. • Hadoop 0.2: How to read outputs from TextOutputFormat?

  My reducer class produces outputs with TextOutputFormat (the default OutputFormat given by Job). I like to consume this outputs after the MapReduce job complete to aggregate the outputs. In addition to this, I like to write out the aggregated information with TextInputFormat so that the output from this process can be consumed by the next iteration of MapReduce task. Can anyone give me an example on how to write & read with TextFormat? By the way, the reason why I am using TextFormat, rather Sequence, is the interoperability. The outputs should be consumed by any software.

• Fastest sort of fixed length 6 int array

  Answering to another StackOverflow question (this one) I stumbled upon an interresting sub-problem. What is the fastest way to sort an array of 6 ints ? As the question is very low level (will be executed by a GPU): we can't assume libraries are available (and the call itself has it's cost), only plain C to avoid emptying instruction pipeline (that has a very high cost) we should probably minimize branches, jumps, and every other kind of control flow breaking (like those hidden behind sequence points in && or ||). room is constrained and minimizing registers and memory use is an issue, ideally in place sort is probably best. Really this question is a kind of Golf where the goal is not to minimize source length but execution speed. I call it 'Zening` code as used in the title of the book Zen of Code optimization by Michael Abrash and it's sequels.

• Can't see drop down list in Excel VBA

  I've created a very simple drop down list in excel. It holds a sequence of integers loaded from a cell range (years). I need to read the selected value in vba. However I can't even seem to find the control! I've tried CboYear Sheet2.CboYear Worksheets("SheetName").CboYear etc. etc. From everywhere in VBA this control just doesn't exist. All the tutorial I find seem to assume that using just the control name will work. I've tried the code in the sheet itself, the workbook, and a module, no luck.

• Cannot combine commits using TortoiseGit

  I have two branches with several commits each. On one branch, I can go to the log, select two commits, and TortoiseGit shows "combine to one commit" in the context menu. On the other branch this option does not show in the context menu. Both sequence of commits is very similar; add file then modify it, so there is no difference really between the branches. What factors would cause this "combine to one commit" to not be available? I'm wondering if I should just switch to the command line.

  Hello, I'm building a range between two numbers (floats) and I'd like this range to be of an exact fixed length (no more, no less). range and arange work with steps, instead. To put things into pseudo Python, this is what I'd like to achieve: start_value = -7.5 end_value = 0.1 my_range = my_range_function(star_value, end_value, length=6) print my_range [-7.50,-5.98,-4.46,-2.94,-1.42,0.10] This is essentially equivalent to the R function seq which can specify a sequence of a given length.
