  • How to discovering types exported by OSGi bundle without installing/activating ?

    - by mP
Basically i want to discover if a jar implements any number of interfaces wihtout activating or starting the bundle. Is it possible to read the meta data from the meta-inf from an API just like the container does but without activating a bundle ? I want to use OSGi to support plugins of which numerous interfaces will be published and i would like to know which interfaces are implemented by a bundle when the user uploads without activating the bundle etc.

  • How can I pipe input to a Java app with Perl?

    - by user319479
I need to write a Perl script that pipes input into a Java program. This is related to this, but that didn't help me. My issue is that the Java app doesn't get the print statements until I close the handle. What I found online was that $| needs to be set to something greater than 0, in which case newline characters will flush the buffer. This still doesn't work. This is the script: #! /usr/bin/perl -w use strict; use File::Basename; $|=1; open(TP, "| java -jar test.jar") or die "fail"; sleep(2); print TP "this is test 1\n"; print TP "this is test 2\n"; print "tests printed, waiting 5s\n"; sleep(5); print "wait over. closing handle...\n"; close TP; print "closed.\n"; print "sleeping for 5s...\n"; sleep(5); print "script finished!\n"; exit And here is a sample Java app: import java.util.Scanner; public class test{ public static void main( String[] args ){ Scanner sc = new Scanner( System.in ); int crashcount = 0; while( true ){ try{ String input = sc.nextLine(); System.out.println( ":: INPUT: " + input ); if( "bananas".equals(input) ){ break; } } catch( Exception e ){ System.out.println( ":: EXCEPTION: " + e.toString() ); crashcount++; if( crashcount == 5 ){ System.out.println( ":: Looks like stdin is broke" ); break; } } } System.out.println( ":: IT'S OVER!" ); return; } } The Java app should respond to receiving the test prints immediately, but it doesn't until the close statement in the Perl script. What am I doing wrong? Note: the fix can only be in the Perl script. The Java app can't be changed. Also, File::Basename is there because I'm using it in the real script.

  • ant (1.8.0/1.8.1) zip empty directories

    - by andersonbd1
Hi, I noticed that neither the zip or jar targets are including empty directories. I googled a little and found this was a regression issue way back with 1.6 (.2 I think), but it was claimed to have been fixed. I was using 1.8.0 so I upgraded to 1.8.1, but am having the same issue. Anyone know of any workarounds besides adding dummy files to those directories? Thanks, Ben Anderson

  • Lightweight Java reporting engine

    - by tuler
I'm looking for a lightweight java reporting engine to be embedded in an applet application. My first option was Jasper Reports, but the jar is over 2Mb, a little too heavy (and too bloated) for my needs. I don't know if there is modular jasper distribution, with funcionalities split in several jars (like html rendering, pdf, excel, compilation, runtime, etc). I need to preview the report using Swing and print it. PDF export is a plus.

  • Convert Java.Util.HashMap to System.Collections.IDictionary

    - by Paul
In Xamarin I've got a .jar I've imported using a Java Binding Library. One of the callbacks has a Java.Lang.Object parameter which gives me Java.Util.HashMap and Java.Util.ArrayList at runtime. I'm abstracting this SDK behind a cross-platform interface, so I need to convert this to a .NET type. It there anything like the ArrayAdapter except in reverse that can convert the Java types to their .NET equivalents?

  • how to invoke an activity of a library project from an android apps

    - by Austin
I have an open source android code that I need to use in my android apps. It has all the source code as well as resource files, manifest files and class path. It can be compiled as a separate android apps. I have constraints for using the open source. 1. I can't change a single line of code. 2. I can't use it as a separate apps. These constraints are non negotiable. What I have done is I have compiled the open source as class library(in Eclipse: Project Properties-Android- Tick check box Is Library). This has resulted in generation of .class files(in bin) for the java files and resource files. This open source has an android activity that i want to open from my application. So I have linked the directory of these sets of class files in the source section of my java build path( in .classpath). I have declared the activity in my manifest file with proper action intent filters. Now when I am trying to call activity from my code, its not working. Cleaning and rebuilding doesn't help. However, if I build the open source project and my apps in the same workspace of eclipse and link the open source in my apps in exact same manner it works fine. I am not able to identify the difference. All settings seems to be same(all files are identical in both the cases). But only in the second case it works. I have tried it as jar file also. I have build the open source as project library and exported it into a jar file(excluding manifest file). But in that case I am getting the following error UNEXPECTED TOP-LEVEL EXCEPTION: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: already added: .... Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error 1 This I guess is coming because the android library(2.2) has been included twice in my apps( one for building my apps & another for building the open source). I dont know how to avoid this. Cleaning the project doesn't help. What i require is to use the open source and invoking it's activities in my apps without violating the constraints. If i can use the open source as bunch of .class files then great, or else any other way will do fine. Please look into it and let me know. Thanks

  • Mysterious newInstance method

    - by songsungkyun
First I show some code. library: axis.jar, dom4j.jar jdk1.5, windowsXP T.java import java.io.StringWriter; import org.apache.axis.utils.StringUtils; import org.dom4j.DocumentHelper; import org.dom4j.io.OutputFormat; import org.dom4j.io.XMLWriter; public class T { public T() { System.out.println("constructor"); } public void test() { System.out.println(StringUtils.unescapeNumericChar("1")); } public String getPrettyXML(String xml) throws Exception { System.out.println("getPrettyXML"); StringWriter sw = new StringWriter(); XMLWriter writer = null; try { OutputFormat format = OutputFormat.createPrettyPrint(); org.dom4j.Document document = DocumentHelper.parseText(xml); writer = new XMLWriter(sw, format); writer.write(document); } catch (Exception e) { throw e; } finally { if (writer != null) { try { writer.close(); } catch (Exception e) { } } } return sw.toString(); } public void a() { System.out.println("a"); } public static void main(String[] args) { new T().test(); } } T2.java public class T2 { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { System.out.println("T2"); T t = (T) Class.forName("T").newInstance(); } } Ok, here we go... run as (Of course, I'm run at the directory where T.class, T1.class is) java T2 as you can see, not exist class path. ==console== T2 constructor OK... Now delete throw e line at the catch block on the "getPrettyXML" method of T. Ok, here we go.. run one more time without classpath java T2 You can see below... ==console== T2 Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/dom4j/io/OutputFormat at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method) at java.lang.Class.forName(Unknown Source) at T2.main(T2.java:5) I know that it's not very important for my life or your life. But it's so mysterisou to me, and my all curiosity. thanks.. ^^

  • What's the fastest way to draw a Hello World in Java

    - by Mordan
What's the fastest way to draw a Hello World on the screen as a GUI in Java, 1- by using the minimum number of classes. 2- with the least byte code executed 2- the JVM tweaks so when I double click on the Jar file in Windows, the Hello World appears in no time (assuming the Runtime is not already loaded).

  • What is the best way to go about obscuring Java code?

    - by Waltzy
Well, I'm planning on releasing a Jar into the world but would prefer if the code was not readably available to anyone with a Java Decompiler as I want to control access to the program with usernames / auth codes etc. After some Googling I haven't found any software to do this for me, so I was wondering what steps to take from here; if anyone can point me at any software or information on methodologies of obscurification I would be grateful. Cheers again Stack Overflow.

  • Is it impossible to embed Java3D in a way that I don't need to install it?

    - by Kyle
I'm running a big application and a small part of it includes Java 3D, the problem is many users need to use the code, but it isn't practical for everyone to install Java 3D just to run the application if they aren't even going to use that section of the application. Is it possible through compiling an extra jar, or changing some paths, to include Java 3D in a project without installing it on a system? Or perhaps to manually include any dlls?
