  • Can´t install OS from usb flash drive

    My previous problem was describe here: Can't boot OS from USB drive, showing black screen with blinking cursor and there are informations about my laptot. So please look there and then read rest here. I changed flash drive and it fix the problem but now when I boot to Ubuntu (or I tried Fedora, it do same) I can´t install system. I click on Install Ubuntu 10.10 I choose language, then on next window I click Forward but it just show waiting cursor and nothing happen (same Fedora). It doesn´t freeze so I can end install and I can take printscreen (when I was taking the screen, cursor was shown as waiting, not normal as in picture, it´s weird). Image where my installation ends I think there is some problem with Disk and Volumes and so. But I used chkdsk from W7 on boot and It said everything all right and I try utility in Ubuntu and check file system and it is all right too.Image with my Disk (Volumes and other things) I hope someone helps me.   • What usb-bootable utility should I use to copy SATA hard drives?

    I have a computer that only has two SATA connections and I need to copy one SATA hard drive to another. Since I have to unplug the CD drive to copy the drives I need a USB-bootable utility. I have an old school copy of Norton Ghost (CD based): Ghost has always worked well for me in the past - I see there is a new "version 15" out but I'm not sure if it is worth buying. A friend has Acronis True Image on a USB drive: We tried to use that on the computer but it was unable to copy both partitions (restore partition and main partition). Of course there may be some problem with the drive that is keeping Acronis from working (it is just exiting with a lame error about not being able to copy the disks and no error code or detailed information), but I'm interested in knowing if there is a better, more solid, or widely used solution that I should invest in. What usb-bootable utilities can I use to copy SATA hard drives?

Are they the same? ext .ext *.ext What about wildcards? .e?t .e* .*t For file paths, which wildcards are allowed and how do they work? C:\path* C:\path\s*e C:\path\somef?le C:\*\somefile C:\pa*\somefile C:\pa?h\somefile *\path *:\path For processes, can wildcard be used when specifying the file name? Same syntax as file paths? Also: I read in this post that, as of October 2009, Real Time Protection ignored wildcards; is this still true for the 2012 version?

  • Cannot get SCVMM Admin Console to Connect to Hyper-V Server 2008 R2

    I cannot get SCVMM Admin console to connect to Hyper-V Server 2008. I have changed all firewall settings on the server to allow for a connection, I have even tried turning the firewall off completely. I am getting this error message: Unable to connect to the Virtual Machine Manager server xx.xxx.xxx.xx. the Virtual Machine Manager service on that servier did not respond. Verify that Virtual Machine Manager has been installed on the server and that the Virtual Machine Manager service is running. Then try to connect again. If the problem persists, restart the Virtual Machine Manager Service. ID: 1602 I have tried restarting the VMMS service, and that did not work. I have posted a similar question to this before, and was told to make sure to intall the Hyper-V agent on the Hyper-V server. I was told that SCVMM can push the agent out to the server. However, if I cannot connect to the server, how can I use SCVMM to push out the agent? Thanks for any help.

    Hi, i installed fms in my server, and already its running a apache for hp, so want to run this fms as a separate port in 8083 While installing i gave port number as 8083,and now its shows in "fms.ini" ADAPTOR.HOSTPORT = 1935,8083 I think it should listen any of these ports, but its not working while am acessing domain.com:8083 domain.com:1935 Please can some body tell me why its not working Thanks in advance

    When playing a BluRay movie on a PC (any OS, Mac/Win/Linux), I have some questions about audio output: When playing a BluRay disc on the PC using a BluRay player program, can it decode the multichannel (7.1) LPCM/ Dolby Digital Plus / Dolby TrueHD / DTS-HD / DTS-HDMA soundtracks in their HD formats (ie, without downmixing to Dolby Digital or DTS or PCM) and output the audio directly to the soundcard's 7.1 line-level analog outputs? Is it possible to bitstream the the multichannel (7.1) LPCM/ Dolby Digital Plus / Dolby TrueHD / DTS-HD / DTS-HDMA soundtracks in their HD formats (ie, without downmixing to Dolby Digital or DTS or PCM) over the HDMI output to a receiver when using a BluRay player program? I'd kinda like to know. I'm contemplating building a home theater PC, and the above functionality is important. I'd prefer that #1 is possible, actually, because it would mean I wouldn't have to buy a receiver.

Here are the features I am looking for : at least 500Go HDD capable of playing HD (1080p) supporting a good range of video and audio codecs support for subtitles including a DVB-T input (coax) and tuner composite video input 5.1 (or 7.1) analog audio output LAN (100M or Gigabit) fileserver (SMB or NFS) remote control possibly digital output (S/PDIF, TOSLINK, or other) no need for integrated DVD player no need for wifi The Ultio Pro looks nice (http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/home-entertainment/d3fe).     I have seen many ways to make a USB an installer for about any Windows OS. But how can I (using grub or something like that) make it bootable to all editions on Windows XP and 7? I have tried Googling it and researching, I've even tried to do it, But I dont understand much about GRUB or linux at all.   • F3-F5 keys incorrectly behaving as audio keys

    I don't know if this is a configuration issue or a hardware issue, but I have a Kinesis Advantage USB keyboard and for some reason the F3-F5 keys aren't responding as they used to. They don't respond to anything and, when I tried using F5 on Emacs, it said <XF86AudioNext> is undefined, so I guess it's a weird mapping problem. Any idea how I could remap them to the original meaning?

    Downloaded Windows 7 .iso off the net and want to install from USB key on old laptop (previously/still running XP) that has no CD/DVD drive. Here's what I've got so far: Read the instructions in this post: http://kmwoley.com/blog/?p=345 , which were quite straight forward and clear. Properly formatted USB key with another laptop (this one running vista), also with no DVD drive wasn't sure how to make the USB bootable, since my .iso was downloaded and I have no DVD drive. Any help would be much appreciated!!

  • Run Microsoft SCCM Remote Control Viewer on Client Machines?

    I've install SCCM 2012 on a server and have successfully used the Remote Control option to take control of a system I've setup to be managed by SCCM. Now, I don't want to have to log in to a server every time I want to access this client...is there a way to run the Remote Control Viewer client on my desktop OS so I can take remote control of systems rather than having to remote in from the server? This seems like very basic functionality...but I haven't been able to figure it out thus far.

  • Formatted a Bootcamped drive as a dynamic disk, now can't boot to either Mac or Windows

    I was trying to create an extra partition to get a file from the Windows side of my Macbook Air to the Mac side, and I accidentally made the disk dynamic without realizing it. I am now unable to boot to the Mac side (holding Alt to go into the system manager at startup doesn't even list the Mac partition), and the Windows side blue screens during boot (goes so quickly that it doesn't even get to the error code before restarting). What can I do to fix the issue? I don't know how to make a bootable flash drive that a Mac will recognize, and Disk Utility (via Internet Recovery) couldn't do anything.     Initially I suspected a missing driver, but then sound ( for movies,songs etc ) works fine on the other non-administrator account, but does not work when I log in to the Administrator account. And yes..I have checked the sound volume and mute status as well.   • Win7 MCE seems unable to play ripped DVDs

    I'm running Windows 7 and am using mymovies.dk to rip the dvds to my harddrive. However, playback isn't watchable as the picture is very stuttery and blocky, only shots that show the same image for a few seconds get shown properly. The dvd's are ripped as the straight folder structure and if played in XBMC are fine. I've tried installing both the cccp-project.net and latest div-x codecs, but that doesn't seem to have helped. I'd like to stick with MCE as it has a high WAF (wife acceptance factor). Any suggestions?
